After 30 seconds he said there is a new issue causing my cornea erosion. It's your bottom eye lid not the accident from years ago. Go see my colleague and get surgery to fix the lower eye lid. So what about the cornea ? Oh. That's fine. Treated the problem totally different. Went to car called and go second opinion and cornea fixed by noon. The receptionist and tech who did my medical chart were great. However. The doctor was lost for words and out the door fast when he looked at the chart and saw it was him 4 years ago who treated me. I didn't see the doctor for very long, but the billed amount for an office visit with him was expensive, over $500. The surgery however, has had bad side effects. My eyes get dry often, where before that hardly ever happened. The office was dismissive of my concerns and I was never scheduled to see Dr.Derrick, it was always another doctor who seemed hesitant to comment on his work. I regret having this done at this office and fear that I've done permanent damage to my eyes. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Trying to figure out their billing departments was a trial at times too. There's at least two different companies involved. I'm glad I have insurance because their submitted fees are very high.

I don't know how the eye exam could have been so wrong, but I do know contacts are supposed to improve eye vision, the eyes are not supposed to adjust to the contact lens. Well these are glorified 400.00 reading glasses and the response in my opinion for a local eye doctor was pretty pathetic. I always try to shop local instead of big box but in this case big box out shined. Went to Americas Best. cleaned up Pickerington eyecare glasses for free. Still cloudy but buffed out the scuff for me. Will never use or refer to anyone ever again.

Waiting area: Clean. Organized. Cozy. Properly spaced for social distancing. Waited for about 3 minutes after check-in to be seen (mind you, I was also about 5 minutes late to my appointment - never underestimate Pickerington traffic!) Pre-exam imaging: normal exam (including the air in eye part). During this exam, I could overhear their team being extremely patient with a kiddo who was scared of the machines. I was impressed to hear the methods they used to calm the kiddo, build trust, and help the kiddos through their exam. I would say this place is kid friendly and they give lollipops post exam! With doctor: Dr. Pipo had a booming personality. He was energetic, kind, and really reviewed my case prior to examining me further. You know when docs ask "which is better? One or two?" And you can't tell the difference? He actually explained what the differences were while determining which corrections were needed for my eyes. Post exam: Laura (specialist) helped me with selecting my glasses. I told her the style I typically like and she brought ~10 pairs to try (which all met my preference along with a few fun frames). She helped me narrow the frames down and was extremely patient with me. 30-mins later, I picked the frames that we both agreed- totally matched me and my personality. After selecting the frames she helped me to assess the appropriate additions to make for my lenses and explain insurance coverage. Jessica (front desk) helped me with selecting the appropriate contacts covered by insurance. Overall- Fantastic staff. Fantastic facility. I look forward to meeting my new frames and going back again for my annual in 2022.

However one small adjustment. This office does not accept VSP insurance although the attached glasses place (which has always been closed when I am there) does. If this office does the refraction there is an added $60 charge to your co pay. Hubby needed glasses, we thought, for his drivers test. The adjacent glasses place with limited hours, was closed. So we agreed to the refraction. Unfortunately the refraction was done BEFORE my husband was examined by the doctor. When my husband was examined, the doctor was surprised my husband could not pass the vision test but did say hubby had a cataract that if removed would greatly improve his vision. So the reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is that it seems more logical not to do the refraction until AFTER you have been seen by the doctor. The doctor is very thorough and will see if there are other problems. Essentially the $60 refraction fee is a waste of money because the prescription will be useless when he gets the surgery. And certainly no sense in buying glasses at this time. My advice. Be seen by the doctor before you pay out of pocket for things not covered by insurance he doesnt accept like VSP.

Dr. ___ failed me in many ways. From my very first appointment with him, I was in remission and…read morewanting to establish care with an opthamologist in Ohio (Early 2023), to my recent visits since I had a Uveitis flareup, he has failed me. When I first established care with Dr. ____ , I was in remission and had no active inflammation, and I felt as if he did not believe I had Uveitis. He googled my old Opthamologist, told me I'm fine, and after a few follow-up appointments of being told I'm fine (verbatim) I stopped seeing him until I had a flareup in June 2025. I had an emergency visit with Dr. Buzzacco (way better bedside manner and explanation, at the practice in Dublin) to confirm it was a flareup, and put on a pred taper to hit the nail on it's head. Only a week later, when I got to visit Dr. ____, he told me I was fine and didn't see any inflammation in my eyes. He ended up sending me to another location to get pictures of the backs of my eyes to confirm all of the inflammation that was hiding, and gave me two steroid shots to help the initial inflammation, with some daily meds he chose. Every appointment since then I go through the process of bloodwork, waiting HOURS in his office, spending MAX 5 minutes with Dr. ____, and being told 'You'll be fine, Monica. See you in 4-6 weeks.' What for? What about my bloodwork? What about my inflammed tattoo I reached out about? Why am I on immunosuppressant medication while I go into preschools and senior living facilities for work? I got actively disregarded in the portal to talk to Dr. ____ and disregarded in his office too. There was absolutely no concern for me in his care. Finally in Dec 2025 I decided to get a second opinion, and without asking, all of those above concerns of mine were mentioned and tackled in my first appointment. I could ask questions and ask about all of the big medical terms i've heard over the years. TLDR: Dr. ______ is good for an initial bandaid by getting steroid shots, but if you want to find out your root cause of the disease you have, seek help elsewhere. I missed some appointments due to my family members being ill. He was upset and said he's fucked because he needs my labs every 6 weeks. understandable, however circumstances were beyond my control, and the family member passed away. The only person I was hurting was me. I signed paperwork acknowledging the drugs could be dangerous, not him. He then said well your eyes look fine we're just stopping all the meds, and make an appointment if I have any other issues. It felt like I was being dismissed and he was trying to tell me I still needed to keep the appointments. well I did not have another caregiver and she was bedridden. he didn't even acknowledge I said she died. I think in all the years 4 every 6 weeks I may have spent a total of 1 hr with him.
