They went all over the car to see why check engine light went on.The cats were still good spark plugs were black with gunk checked the oxygen sensors out and were good Tried some cleaner fluid. It worked when they changed the spark plugs and added cleaner fluid.zthey spent a couple of hours a day of possible for 2 weeks.The car been running top notch from then to now the present.It was not an arm and a leg for the repair. read more

I called for a break quote. They required my license plate number to give me an estimate. The manager was INCREDIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL. They were unable yo say anything other than "$299 base price" I asked for the price of pads and roters and was told they wouldn't know until they looked at the car. WHAT????? 1-Star Review DO NOT TRUST THIS MIDAS LOCATION. My 73-year-old father brought his car in at 9 AM for one simple thing: replacement of his brake pads (which Midas supposedly warranties for life) and a tire rotation. That's it. By 3 PM -- seven hours later -- the car still wasn't touched. When he called to ask what was going on, they suddenly presented him with a long list of "extra repairs" they claimed needed to be done, even though he only requested brakes and a rotation. He told them he didn't want any of the extra work -- just the brakes replaced under the warranty he already paid for. Instead of being helpful, the store manager, Tracy Brand, hung up on him. When he went down to pick up the car, things got even worse. The owner came out yelling at him aggressively, acting like he wanted to start a confrontation with a man in his 70s who simply wanted the service he was promised. Completely unprofessional and unacceptable. My father left without the work being done, and we will never return. The behavior from both the manager and the owner was shocking, disrespectful, and honestly disturbing. If you value honest service, respect, or even basic professionalism, avoid this place. read more

Update: Its been a year since Midas told me I had to replace a tire in order for it to pass inspection. I did not change it and it passed last year and this years inspection. I drove over 5k miles on it after they told me it will fail and it still passed. Maybe they shouldn't have charged me $25 for a restocking fee after I realized they were being unethical. Well all I can say is I am glad I am not the only one. How is this place still in business? Had my son bring his car there to look at his exhaust, very loud and I didn't get a chance to look yet but figured Midas is a good company so told him to bring there and get an estimate. 20 Bucks perfect Well a flex pipe and some gaskets and bolts, spring bolts etc... $120 in parts the most $648 dollars r u fckn kidding me? Was just going to do myself but figure I will call around a little Had it done today $175 parts and labor out the door by a real exhaust place. They completed a basic service and state inspection. They were ready for me at the scheduled time and completed the work quickly.

I am writing this after bringing a car for an alignment ... I changed most front end parts and after putting it on the lift they told me I need an inner tie rod ... Just took back to my regular mechanic and he tells me the inner is fine ... If anything the outer has slight play ... I was looking at this with the mechanic in Midas and he was insisting it was the inner ... The cost to replace was approximatelty 1.5 hours for a job that is about .5 hour and then they don't honor the alignment coupon in that location ... When I denied the service I was charged approximately 1/3 of an hour (at $155 per hour) ... They maybe had 10 minutes of time invested in this ... Very disappointed for sure .... read more

Not into this place, and this is the only way I could exact my revenge. I was in dire need of an oil change, so my husband went on midas.com, printed a $19.95 oil change + tire rotation coupon, and gave it to me to take care of. Note that this coupon had their address printed on it and everything. I go and the guy tells me they don't honor that coupon. I say, "Your address is printed on there!" And he says, "I don't know how you got that, because we don't honor that." He said it in a way almost implying I did something nefarious to fake it or something. So, if I hadn't really needed this oil change/tire rotation, I would have walked out. Instead, he charged me $40 when I walked in with a $20 franchise-specific coupon specifying his exact store. That's lame. What's the point of a coupon of a vendor can just refuse it when you get there? On top of that, they told me I needed a new cabin air filter, which we had replaced 5k miles ago, so that was basically a crock of crap. All in all, a pretty negative experience. read more

Stay away from these crooks. They purposely screwed with my parking brake so the alerts were dinging and flashing. Told me my rear brakes were seized and needed everything new. Wanted over $1,000 to complete the repair which is ridiculously overpriced for a set of brakes. Turns out my rear brakes were NOT seized and did not need rotors at all. They gave me a list of things wrong with my vehicle with some major items listed. While I know my vehicle is over 15 years old, I am quite sure that it does not require many of the things they listed. They are overpriced- cost me over $175 for a sleeve on my muffler pipe. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I purchased tires directly from BF Goodrich and choose the option to have it sent to the installer directly. I figured make my life easier. According to my receipt Midas was to only charge me $75 total to install the tires onto my truck. When I got there, the lady Tracy advised me it's going to be $160 ($40 per tire) ok, no big deal... well, what should have taken them about 3 hours max to do, ended up with them having my vehicle for 5 days and ended up costing me $1,140.28!! They broke numerous studs and lug nuts and even damaged 2 of my rims behind repair or use and charged me for the rims. I took a look at my itemized bill, and they had the audacity to charge me $8.95 per lug nut... I could've bought a pack of 20 (which is how many they needed) for $20-$25 total at Autozone!! They broke my TPMS sensor and charged me $78 for it. Now i keep getting notified on my dash to serve tire pressure system soon.. I'd bring it back and demand them to fix it but after all this, they will never touch my vehicles again...Also, as a healthcare worker who has worked on the front lines of this entire pandemic I was extremely taken back by how filthy the waiting area was. None of the staff had masks on, there were zero options in regards to hand sanitizer. All they had was a piece of plastic over the counter. Came in for an oil change and inspection, as my regular shop doesn't do inspections. I was told me I needed new front brake pads, rear shoes, and wheel cylinders. Quoted over $700 for what should be half of that price (again, just pads, shoes, and cylinders, no rotors or resurfacing). I replaced the pads and shoes, but the cylinders were bone dry. One of my front calipers was seized, I suppose that could have caused the fluid leak, so i'll give them the benefit of the doubt, and I appreciate that they didn't run the inspection before telling me about the brakes . CROOKS! I noticed my brakes start squealing 2 days ago. It has 40000 miles on it. I took it to one place that told me I needed new pads and rotors all the way around. They offered to show me the wear while it was still up on the hoist, so I looked, didn't see any abnormal wear, but I'm no expert and told them that I wanted to get another opinion. Besides, in my experience, if you change the pads when they first start squealing you don't do much damage to the rotors. Today, I took it Midas Centereach because I have dealt with Midas in Canada (my home) in the past. They told me that the front brakes looked good, but the back needed new pads and rotors. I figured that I must have been wrong about the rotors and told them to go ahead, but that I would like to see the parts after. Once all work was done, they showed me rotors that were VERY corroded, pitted and worn. I am 99% sure they weren't the rotors I saw on my vehicle yesterday, instead probably rotors they had pulled off some high mileage vehicle that had been abused. If the mechanic at the other place had showed me that kind of wear I would have had them switched in a second, and when I said I was getting another opinion, why wouldn't he point out the most possible wear to convince me to trust him!?!? Please don't make the same mistake as I did, avoid this place!! read more

midas in centereach is fantastic !!!!!!!!!! i brought my car in because my brakes were grinding. the lady at the counter was so nice she greeted me right away - they brought my car in and did a full check over of the brakes they even did a courtesy check over on the rest of my car. they girl at the counter brought me outside to show me what was going on with car - i have no idea what i am looking at because i do not know the first thing about cars but her and the mechanic working on it went over everything with me very thoroughly until i understood and believe me i asked them a lot of questions. they were both very patient and polite with me. i ended up getting the brake work done and a few other maintenance services as well ..... its been a few monthes and my brakes feel great the car feels great - i will definatley go back in to see them for my next service - they were just so nice and helpful, they prices were fair the work that was done was quality work - they have great warranties and they were all very very knowledgeable and they gave me a little education about my car :) fantastic service - i highly recommend midas in centereach for any type of car repairs ! read more
