It's been a couple months now since my last service and I just haven't had time to update - but I formerly had written a five star review last November - which I now am taking back. 1) EVERY time I try to schedule online for an oil change it says I'll get a call within 30 business minutes. Never do. I've scheduled multiple appointments now and every time end up needing to call them a few days later to schedule over the phone anyway. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt - I get it - they're busy. But every time?? 2) I already was a little weary as I'd had my oil changed/ and belt swapped back in November and my oil light came on for a change which was almost 1,000 miles before it should've. Fine whatever. 3) Waited days to end up calling and get my car scheduled for the oil change only to pick it up and have them tell me I needed the exact same belt replaced that should last YEARS. I made a comment to the clerk checking me out asking if it was the same one I JUST had changed which he confirmed it was. He then proceeded to look at the pic the mechanic took and seemed to not be able to find any reason why I should need it. I told him if it didn't need to be changed it's fine, but it was covered under warranty so they did it anyway. Just proof in my eyes that they were trying to rip me off and they just didn't check the history before trying to pull one over on me. Needless to say, I will not be returning. The only positive is everyone up front is always extremely kind when I go in. Unfortunately that's not enough to keep my business. read more

For who ever goin to get Service from Midas This Store located 8104 N Academy should be aware of Tricky First of all , I saw some discount promotions for brake service at this location then I decided went to get service here by talk with Mr.Micheal very clearly in person about the price and promotions before I agree to do it But after done the service , Invoice papers don't have any Discount from promotion that I and Him ( Michael ) was talked about of it He said he forgot and say sorry but he can't adjust or re-open payment ticket to discount it , I have to wait tomorrow ( Monday October 30 ,2023 ) for Manager to take care of it then he will give me a call to confirm about refund money go to my Credit card , But no phone call from him then I decided to call and I went and check by my self on Monday and Wednesday , He still keep saying the same word! Tomorrow tomorrow and tomorrow So what tomorrow is tomorrow and when i can get my money back ? They overcharged in a very big way. I wanted a simple spark plug replacement. I should have done a search first, and then an estimate. KBB says it should cost between $477 - $594. They charged more than $900 claiming the intake manifold had to be removed and cost an additional few hundred dollars. The dealer will do the same job at half the cost with certified technicians. I made a costly mistake. This is a mistake I will share with as many people as possible so they can save money by going to other auto service centers. read more

Craig and Nate were great, got me in without an appointment. They only sold me what I needed, rear brakes not all 4. They've gained our trust, and we take our vehicles there for oil changes as well. I always love Midas because they always seem to help. Even when I need my tire pressure checked and aired up or anything, they have a real family vibe. Now, this particular one is my neighborhood go-to, and so far I have just had my oil changed and then tires aired up, and everyone I've dealt with is kind and honest and down-to-earth. Have used this shop many times and was a return customer for years as I felt they were honest. I've changed my mind after my last visit. Had a tpms sensor fault in my car, and the quote Midas gave me was over twice what the Ford dealer gave. Their tap-dancing after mentioning this was hollow and disheartening, and it is clear they were trying to take advantage of me. I will be looking for another shop. read more

I took my car in to get my brakes and rotors replaced only for them to not have the parts that they said they had in store which delayed it another day. Mind you this is my only transportation and live over an hour away. I later ended up getting a flat tire a couple weeks later, only to find out they cross threaded every lug nut on the stud which made it impossible to change on my own. I had to get my car towed and have every stud replaced. I decided to check my other tires for the same issue and that reoccurred on every one. read more

I went in asking for a check the error code for an engine light and they asked me to wait 1 hour or go across the street. I get that they are busy but just felt that a whole hour for something that takes 30 seconds is ridiculous. Plus, the error code could have made me a potentially new client if there was something that they could fix. read more

I love it here. I love the people that work here and I love the quality of the work they do. From an oil change, to replacing my struts and aligning my tires, they make sure that I'm taken care of and my car is safe. Nate Hughes, the store manager, and his entire team were very professional, courteous, and professional when my 1995 Toyota 4Runner which I bought in Denver sight unseen broke down in Colorado Springs. I bought the car in Denver, and flew up from Houston to pick up the car and drive and home. The water pump was leaking and car overheating and when I called five local to Colorado Springs automotive shops and they all said they could not work on the car for weeks, Nate took my car in. I took the car in on a Wednesday evening with the Midas booked up and Nate had the car repaired by end day on Saturday, 7/2. The tech working on the car, manager, and assistant manager all greeted me when I came in to pick up the car and all very awesome. It was a great experience. I even booked a follow-up appointment at the Midas closest to me in Tomball, TX for this upcoming Thursday for additional work. Thank you Midas. read more

Our exhaust was loose on our Corvette we live an hour and a half away and were worried it wouldn't make it home! To our surprise they got us in and fixed it in a timely manor! I was on the freeway yesterday and my car was shaking and I thought it was a flat tire or snow buildup on my tires so when I had a chance t pull over I noticed my undercarriage was hanging by a thread! I called this Midas and the got me in seconds after I arrived and fixed my undercarriage to not hang in under 5 min so I wasn't late for my meeting! Great customer service! Thank you guys! read more

I think it is time to stop going to Midas. I have been a long time customer of this company, but newer to this location. I kept coming because the Midas on Austin Bluffs told me I was a gold customer, and treated me really well. But this specific location....pretty sure they are the car garage all our parents warned us about. They take whatever your actual problem is, and up sell you an even worse problem. I have NEVER heard them only fix the problem a person came in for. They always find something even more expensive to fix. And here's some screwy math for you: my total was $1167, I gave them a $30 off coupon, and the manager said he took a total of $60 off my bill. Guess how much I paid? $1157. Yep. I kept asking what was going wrong with the math, he gave shady answers. I'm so disappointed. Wow. What a bunch of scoundrels. read more

I went here on Christmas Eve to get an oil change in my kia. When doing this SIMPLE thing the mechanic screwed my oil pan drain Bolt in too tight and cracked my oil pan. Instead of admitting that that's what happened. They tried to say that the last mechanic broke it by putting loktite on it. But i was the last one to change my oil. And i didn't use annnny thing like that. So when i called them out they gave me 2 options. Hey said i can pay to have for them to install a NEW oil pan for $700 (for a Kia spectra?) or they could tow me out of their shop at my expense. Because they refused to fix the thing THEY broke. I have been in here 4-5 times mostly for brakes. They have always done good fast work. However, on my last visit for something other than brakes I had a bad vibe that they might be padding the price, so before I went in for a repair on a new non-brake related problem I called around town to check prices. This is a 'on a budget' car place. If you're used to dealerships, you may be disapointed. They were, however, courteous, on time, and affordable for me. They honored a day expired coupon, and told me how to address a problem more inexpensive than having them do it. Very empowering. I would recommend you avoid at all costs, they have no problems trying to sell you something you don't need, and wont mind sending you off with something broken. Was out riding motorcycles with friends and looked in my review mirror and saw one persons headlight was significantly dimmer than everyone else's. Pulled off on Academy and Midas was the first shop available. We happened to have a multimeter in our tool kit, but the battery was dead. So I thought I would give them a chance to show some customer service. Went in explained we were riding as far as Alamosa today and didn't want to break down in the middle of nowhere and asked if the could put a multimeter on the problem bike and verify the charging system was working. Service writer went out and consulted with the mechanics and came back out and offered to sell us a headlight. I know they don't work on motorcycles usually, and a headlamp was probably the only thing they could actually sell us, but that is ridiculous to anyone that knows anything about maintenance of vehicles. We ended up walking across the street to a gas station, bought a battery for our multimeter, and the charging system was fine, and the guy only had a problem with the alignment of his headlamp. Very Shady tactics, I would hate to see what they would do with someone who wasn't familiar with auto mechanics and all the things they would try to charge you for that you don't need. read more

After having our car at a different repair shop for over 2 weeks, we had it towed from there to Midas and they got it fixed in around 4 hours completely. And let me know exactly what was wrong with it unlike the other place. Since it won't let me do a 2nd review. I am adding to this. My other vehicle's alternator went out this morning. I called and spoke to Luke and he was able to get my vehicle in when brought it there. Less than 4 hours later, I had a brand new alternator installed and it runs great! Kudos to both Luke and Nathan for helping me so much! read more

Completely unacceptable service. Casually Rude response, terrible communication regarding the time to complete services.

Nathan, Luke, and the crew are on it! They are quick to help where they can, and back up the work they do. One of the three cars I bring to them has an independent auto warranty on it, and they do all the work to get the authorization needed. This last incident, my Kia car engine had a blown cylinder and I barely made it into the shop. They looked at it immediately, knew it was a sever problem, and told me they'd finish the diagnosis in the morning. Nathan then drove me to a local car rental company so I'd have something to drive. The next day they conferred with the car mfr. and verified it was covered under the auto maker's warranty. They then helped get it towed to the dealership. What more could you ask of a auto repair facility? Thank you all! read more

I have taken my car back three times for something that should have been easily fixed on the first trip (and have spent $2283.54). I have a call in to their regional office and the store manager. I expect that Nathan or Brian Thompson will be calling me shortly to help resolve the issue. WIll update this post with my experiences....positive or negative. Not certain what he hopes to accomplish, but promised a return call by Monday afternoon. - 5/6/15 3:37pm - Contacted regional office to discuss next steps with them to make this right. Left a VM on 'option 3' (customer relations). Will hopefully get a return call today or tomorrow. This is the worst customer service and shop I have ever been to. I took my car in for a simple brake inspection and after they inspected it, they could not get my car to start. It took them 3 business days to finally have it tolled to a location that had a clue. Long story short, they ended up charging me 1000 for brake damage. I'm giving 1 star as there is no way to give 0 stars. I am selling my Jetta and a gal who wants to buy it took it to this Midas to have it checked out. I was dubious as I was ripped of by another Midas several years ago and have never been to a Midas since. Sure enough, they told her it needed a head gasket and that it would be $2,400. The car only has 98,000 miles and has been very well cared for. My mechanic from European Permormance Specialists said it definitely does not need a head gasket. They specialize in German cars. The car has never leaked oil and doesn't leak now. read more

So, I have used this Midas for probably 5 years or so, never took my old car anywhere else for brakes and A/C work. Came in with my replacement car which I told them I was actually selling the car next week and just wanted the least expensive back brakes I could get to make sure the car was safe for the new buyer since the existing shoes (which lasted me 10 years) were finally down to the bare bones. When they called to quote the price on the back brakes I very nearly keeled over. Thinking it was super duper high, I advised I would have to check around because I didn't want to spend that amount on a car I am selling. The quote from Brakes Plus was over 80% less than what Midas wanted to charge. But that isn't why the 1 star review. The 1 star came when I went to pick up my car and they told me that the free brake inspection (listed as free on their customer facing pricing board as well as being advertised as free on television and being verbally assured by the counter person immediately prior to the drop off that it is free) actually cost me 20 dollars. Not a princely sum to be sure and if they had told me PRIOR to dropping off the car that there would be a charge if I chose not to complete the work I probably would have cheerfully paid it and continued to use them, no problem. But they did not and I won't. I don't like being jerked around and I don't tolerate it at all. So congratulations to Midas. After 5 years and thousands of dollars at their facility, I will never, ever set a foot through the door again. I do wish them well with my last 20 dollars, I sure hope it was worth it. The review actually gets worse. I didn't get around to amending it until now but I brought this car in to Brakes Plus after I left this Midas and there was actually ABSOLUTELY NOTHING wrong with the brakes. I looked at them myself with the guy from Brakes Plus. Which essentially means that this Midas is committing fraud. And I didn't think it could get any worse. My bad. read more
