They also try to help with financing options or credit cards if it applies but don't try to exploit you. Avoid This Midas Location at All Costs I brought my car to Midas today after hearing a noise that seemed to be coming from the front brakes. They had previously checked my brakes back in February 2022 for a $47 fee, so I returned for another inspection. After checking the car, the technician told me that their previous diagnostic was incorrect -- the axle itself didn't need replacing, only the axle seal. This surprised me since two other mechanics had previously said the axle did need replacing, but I didn't argue since that wasn't my main concern today. My concern was the brake noise. The tech then told me that my front brakes looked fine, but my rear brakes needed "urgent repair," warning that driving further could be "fatal." I said I'd like to shop around for quotes, mentioning Brakes 4 Less down the street. The tech immediately said he could "beat whatever price they gave me and take up to $200 off right now." When I asked if the car was safe to drive just to compare quotes, he replied, "I wouldn't have my sister drive it, but I can't tell you what to do." That was extremely distressing. He then dropped the price by $100, saying the job (normally around $1,300) could be done for under $1,000. Feeling pressured and told the car was unsafe, I agreed to proceed. While waiting, I called Brakes 4 Less and learned they could do the same front and rear brake replacement for $289-$489 total. When I tried to bring this up, the tech had already left for the day. The office employee, Lexi Harper, told me "the price is the price" and "you already agreed," even though I had not signed any documents. They then pushed a "no credit check" financing option that hides the interest rate until after submission -- nearly 200% interest, even with good credit. To make matters worse, the business name on their contract doesn't match any active LLC listed on Florida's Sunbiz registry. When I pointed this out, Lexi spent nearly half an hour investigating before telling me I'd have to either sign their illegal contract or let them keep my car. I chose to pay in cash and sign the bare minimum so I could file a formal complaint with federal consumer services authorities (I submitted this same review). Businesses operating under inactive names can face fines of at least $1,000 for this violation. In summary: This Midas location uses scare tactics, misleading pricing, and questionable business practices. Their conduct was unprofessional, dishonest, and possibly illegal. I have been going to this location for 3 plus years and EVERY TIME I go there I am not disappointed. All of these gentlemen are rock stars. From Matthew to Chad that gets you checked in and checked out, to Kyle, Robert and the other mechanics, they will get you back on the road as quickly as possible. I love that they NEVER try to upsell you, but they do inform you of things that will come up later; they show you what needs to be done, they listen to your concerns, they explain the processes and they make you feel welcome, appreciated and valued. They are definitely both of my cars primary physician and I can't see myself going anywhere else. I highly recommend them to friends, family and strangers and I can't sing their praises loud enough. They have a dream team and I hope that each and every one of them knows how much I appreciate the time and attention they have given to my mini cooper GoGo and my charger CoCo. Don't get ripped off there! I've used this Midas several times for oil changes and tire rotations as they're convenient, but not especially quick with any work. Every time I'm there, they try to upsell me with hundreds to thousands of dollars in work that, when I have checked by an independent mechanic I've used for more extensive repairs, I've been told that the Midas-recommended repairs are unnecessary. Today I brought in a vehicle due to a check engine light needing a diagnostic, something that is FREE at every major car parts store. Midas charges $189. When their diagnostic said the repair was an air filter ($49), and a fuel system treatment ($229), AND they'd lower the diagnostic fee to $99, I opted for just the air cleaner. They then raised the diagnostic fee back to $189. NOT! A $15 air filter and a $7 top-rated fuel system cleaner does NOT rate a $278 repair! After making it clear that I don't patronize businesses that change prices like that, I finally paid $174 to them just to get out of this rip off shop. Congratulations Midas. That's the last penny you'll ever see from me, and you've earned this review now published throughout social media. My Husband had wheel bearing put in his truck, after picking it up and traveling less than half a mile, The passenger front wheel came off because the lug nuts weren't tightened. The store manager and the district manager admitted fault and apologized and promised to get a claim number for insurance purposes and minimally I'd expect the money back for the "repairs" at the shop. We still have no claim number, no refund of expenses, no call back from Midas corporate. Only other options is to contact a lawyer at this point. read more

7 hours ago 12/19 Unfinished work and disappointed Today at Midas on Atlantic Blvd in Jacksonville, FL I bought 4 tires, 3yr alignment, rear struts, and an oil change. The repairs were costly, the results unfortunately for me substandard and choice of Midas shop regretful. Once the work was completed I drive my car and begin to hear rattling from the rear end of my car. The struts were installed poorly and the backseat was improperly reinstalled. The parts to hold my backseat in place were broken and Midas had to order the parts from Acura to fix my backseat. 02/20 Still unfinished, disappointed, found dishonest I go to Midas and ask them to replace the struts on the rear end of my car, due to a consult with another well-known auto repairs merchants I find out that the first attempt at replacing the struts were done poorly and that is why the rear-end made noises as I drove when turning corners and even going over speed bumps. I go to Midas to fix it. I'm told to come in at 7:30a and my car would be ready. A call from Midas with many excuses as to why my car isn't ready(non-mechanical) a Lyft home and my car still at Midas overnight I'm still waiting on a call from Midas that they have fixed my car. Beware when taking your car to Midas. Especially if you have a foreign car. Midas has treated me like a low class citizen to many times. I thought they would have done right by me being that I opened an account with them and had been going to them for a couple of years. Things went left when they started getting new employees. I believe they aren't vetting the new mechanics correctly and Midas has a scam way of getting you to pay more money for things you do not need. I was scammed by Midas twice between 2023 and 2024. The 1st time I was treated harshly I was bullied by their mechanic who was caught on a recorded line and video disrespecting me. I told the mechanic I did not need a new door handle but that their was a piece behind the handle that needed to be replaced. He argued with me about it and even charged me for him to check. I was then over charged for a handle. I called BMW and got a cheaper price and told the Midas clerk to return the handle because I got it cheaper from BMW. He refused to return the handle and said he could just give me the handle he ordered for a cheaper price. He refused to match BMW price so I paid a little more than what I could of paid for it had the clerk respected my wishes by returning the one he ordered. Now comes time to fix my handle and the mechanic/clerk calls me and says they found out once they took the door apart that I did not need the handle. I immediately asked him to return the handle once again. He refused so I told him to do not work on my car at all and I'd come pick it up. He did not listen to me and installed the handle but the piece that was originally broke behind the handle was still broke. He was mean to me and I was scared so I called the police and the cop came and told me to take the matter to small claims court. I spoke w/ someone named Steve from Corporate who listened to the recordings and stated they would fix the handle for free but stated for me to never return to the Midas on Beach Blvd. but to get it fixed at the Midas on Atlantic Blvd. In other words the clerk/mechanic was not fired but I the customer was told not to go back to the Midas on Beach after I was the one who called the cops on the clerk/Mechanic but I digress. Went to the Midas on Atlantic and was told I needed to pay for the part that was needed but when I mentioned calling Steve, they stated I did not need to buy the part anymore and everything will be fully covered. They did fix my handle but messed up my lock but I didn't bother going back for the lock because I was mentally drained. Fast forward to March 2024 I went to Midas on Atlantic for a simple oil change and asked them to check why my coolant was leaking. When I got there I told them I already knew I needed to replace my oil housing gasket because I got a diagnostic at BMW a couple months prior. While waiting for my oil change a mean mechanic by the name of Andrew came in the waiting room where I was and told me they are having a hard time getting the oil pan / plug off and he didn't want to break it. I stated that my last oil change was done here at Midas on Atlantic. He and another mechanic looked in the computer and seen I was last here and they said ok and went back to working on my car. He then returned 30 mins later and said I needed a new head gasket. I knew that was not true because when i bought the car in 2022 the head gasket was replaced by the dealer. and I had no symptoms of a blown head gasket. No smoke, no over heating and no major oil leaks. I had a minuscule crack on the oil housing gasket where I had to put oil in my car once every 6 -8 months. I asked for a print out for the charge of the housing gasket replacement and they quoted me over $6000. I took that print out to BMW and a BMW rep pointed out that they charged me for a timing belt kit along with the head gasket and that my BMW does NOT even have a timing belt and told me he doesn't think it was my head gasket because I had just done a diagnostic in Sept. 2023 and they would of found that. He did say I should get another diagnostic to be for sure. I went back to Midas and picked up my car and the clerk that was cashing me out looked nervous. At the time I did not know why but after I took my car home, I realized the very next day that my car was leaking major oil. I took my car to BMW 3 days later to get a diagnostic and the 1st thing they pointed out was that I needed an oil change and my oil pan was damaged. I looked at the check out paper I received from Midas and in the mechanic notes, it says "oil cap unable to be removed"..If BMW is saying no oil change was completed and the paper Midas gave me says oil cap could not be removed, why was I charged for an oil change and when the mechanic said he didn't want to damage anything, how did my oil pan get damaged? Midas told me about my head gasket needing to be replaced but did not mention my oil pan needing to be replaced. Filed another complaint w/ corporate because I believed Midas broke my read more

So I read comment from Yolanda (Midas rep). A 65 month warranty that was only used for about 3 years is not 80% use according to my math. Now if the battery is tagged with a date it is assumed, at least by me, that that is the date from which warranty starts or even better the actual date I purchased it...not a date looked up by serial number that the customer has no access to. Further more, yes they installed the battery for a $17 dollar charge which many places do for free if you buy a battery. If those are your arguments i missed your point. Found out my starter had gone bad and I was able to order a new one and get it delivered the next day. What was amazing was that they also took their time to fix and addressed the other issues that I had on my car as well. I went to get my oil changed at the Midas on Atlantic, I've always gone to Midas in Ohio and had amazing experiences but I felt very taken advantage of here. My car takes 5W30, when I was checking in I was told it took a synthetic and it would be over $80 for a simple oil change. I ended up cancelling because I've never paid more than $30 for an oil change at previous Midas locations. Typically when checking in the sales person would go out and check to see what I actually used but not this time. I feel like this location was trying to take advantage of me due to being a woman with lack of knowledge. Jeff did offer to come out and look to see what my car actually took once I decided to cancel the transaction but I already felt violated and was no longer comfortable working with this company. read more

Avoid Midas at Atlantic BLVD. Jacksonville, FL, They Will Rip You Like They did Me 4 Times Once was charged for oil change and discovered the filter was never changed.The second time they sold me an engine as a refurbished engine from LKQ and turned out to be a lie. The engine died a year later, and Midas, despite me calling them every week, made no effort to get the engine from LKQ, so it took 3 months to get the engine because LKQ did not want to give the engine to Midas because the LKQ inspector noticed the engine had not been installed correctly by Midas. Then, I received the car with the engine running, but upon receipt of the car I noticed that the A/C, which was working properly before I turned in the car to Midas, was not working any longer. Midas claimed it was not their fault even know they were responsible for the car for the three months the car was with them while they installed the engine and told me I had to pay for the repair. Upon inspection of the condenser, I found a hole which seemed man made, but after bringing it to their attention they would not accept responsibility and wanted me to prove it which I was unable to do considering my lack of resources to pursue the truth; thus, they damaged the condenser so they could get more money out of me. At last, their mechanics don't know what they are doing. One time I brought the car due to a noise which their mechanics said he guessed it was the power steering pump. Guess, really?! So I paid for it and turned out not to be it. Long story short, don't be a victim. I am hispanic and agree the hispanic manager is a nice guy but this is about getting the job done and doing it right not guessing to sell more and more. read more

I went in for an alignment because my car was drifting to the right and the steering wheel was shaking.I has to much it costs and he said he was the cheapest in Jacksonville. Total invoice was $67.40 with tax and 3$ shop supplies fee. Initially the car still drifted to the right so I took it back. There really slow both days so I never had to wait. They brought my car right in and fixed it up. Now my car drives very straight and I had a great experience. Kenny was the guy working on my car. tl;dr: Brought it in and it wasn't so great. I went in to have my exhaust system inspected and walked out with a better deal than what I was quoted else where for other repairs related to tires & break system, without me showing them the estimated invoice from another company. The sales associate took the time to explain his recommendations to me in a way that I could understand it. He also allowed me to inspect what he was referencing on my car. I can't say Thank you enough. They literally saved me $250-$300. It's nice to receive great customer service and a detailed explaination of the problem and resolution. I never thought a company as big as Midas would have no integrity and a total rip off. My Mazda three engine light came on I took it to Midas to get it diagnostic. The diagnostic cost 75 bucks.They told me 1. Their was a purge solenoid under the hood and 2. There was a leak detection pump in the rear fuel tank. I was told the solenoid under the would cost to $235.29 and the part for the leak detection was " on galaxian back order" according to the person he spoke at the Honda Dealer, therefore he could not price the part.The final quote was $555.05. Having no choice I went to the Honda dealer located half a mile from the Midas shop. Paid an $0 for Diagnostic. And was informed the only problem was The leak detection pump which they had in stock. nothing was wrong with the under hood purge solenoid! Total bill was $623, which included the diagnostic fee. Will NEVER PATRONIZE MIDAS AGAIN!!! Total RIP OFF ARTIST!!! read more
