i called to ask if they were busy and was told only that I would be taken care of. Not a good answer, but an answer. I drove to the location and walked in. Met with indifference by the man behind the counter. I stated I was there for an oil change. Next were questions, phone number, name address and then I asked how long it will take. 45 mins I was told and at that I stated I'll go somewhere else. Poor customer service and avoiding providing me with proper times, I consider this to be a misleading company. Withholding information to get me to the store doesn't work with me. After getting four new, desperately needed tires we needed a front end alignment. I'll admit I'm not super mechanical --- I leave that that to Erica C., who would normally go take care of the something like this. I figured I could handle this on my own and did a bit of research for shops that handle real maintenance. I called Famous Automotive & Tire Center when I got to work hoping to get a same day appointment. The gentleman who answered the phone was very polite and explained all of the different options that came with the alignment (warranty wise). I went in, they took my keys, and told me it would be about 45 minutes. About 30 minutes later my car was ready and at the door. My only issue is the person who drove my car around to the front smelled of cigarettes and a twinge of alcohol which hung around in the air until I drove away with all of the windows down. I will return again and keep my eye out for who they get to drive my car. read more

I was in Jacksonville for 3 days on biz - Tues to Fri. Tues nite my car broke down at the restaurant and had to walk back to hotel. Closest place was Famous. Sent them a mssg. on their website Tuesday night and they got me in there after work on Wed. Being a stranger in town is always iffy when you need to repair your car in 48 hours - I had to leave Friday afternoon. Not only did they promise me it would be done Friday but it was done at 11 AM on Friday!! Their estimate was right in line with what I researched on the internet. The folks there - Becky and Derek - were true to their word and were friendly and respectful. They would be my full time service center of I lived up there! read more

My complaint is I can't get a receipt for my repair. Becky wouldn't give me one when the repair was complete because I used my warranty. She said the warranty co. had to pay for it first and she would email it to me. It's over a week later and I guess I'm not going to get one. I've called 3 times and this morning she said she would e-mail it "ONE MORE TIME". I don't know what the problem is, it's not in my spam folders. So I asked her to mail it. She said she couldn't. So Famous Automotive doesn't have an envelope and a stamp. Overall I just didn't like the place. Without the receipt I have no warranty on the repair. read more

We purchased a set of windshield wipers from NAPA which is almost across the street from Famous Automotive. I purchased the top of the line wiper blades for my daughters Jeep Wrangler. $53 for the pair! I was unable to get them installed, went into NAPA twice for assistance. The employee, could give a crap! Only one in the store, blew me off and walked back to the storage area! Drove across the street to Famous Automotive which was really busy! As the phones were ringing constantly, the employee said, I put them on, no problem, just give me a second! Very unprofessional mechanic. Got in my car with greasy clothes without putting plastic down. When rotated tires, even I could tell they were over torqued watching him. No torque stick used. At least the customer service was good. Nice guys inside. read more
