I brought my vehicle into Midas, and it ran well, no engine check light. And then they gave me back the vehicle hardly running. Stay away!!! They are so scared of a bad review. They replaced the flex pipe and that was all but then kept the vehicle overnight, and then replaced it back with original equipment the next day because they couldn't take a review that I did the night before that was full of opinions and not defamation of character. "Wouldn't you be mad if they ruined your car too?" And kept running the car in neutral to see if it would get better. Also, several mechanics drove the car and they all couldn't figure it out. They didn't do a diagnostic that day as they were supposed to do as required by the contract, and later did it the next day because of fear of a lawsuit, and found oil in one of the cylinders. Historically, I had misfiring a few days earlier when it was raining and thought this was caused by the faulty mesh of the flex pipe and water getting into its exhaust. That had dried up when the rain went away, and no check engine light was illuminated now a few days later. The car ran perfect when driving to the shop of Midas for 10 miles. Also, the mechanic is required to do a test drive or at least from the parking lot to the lift. And he or she would be able to see that it was in great working order. I should not have had any problems. I spent $2,100 dollars to fix their problems. New: engine coils (Midas did diagnose this, but did they cause this?...it's hard to say but a subpoena of R* will suffice), coolant tank, stripped oxygen sensor, head gasket, and water pump. I initially came here because of the "good reviews" service was efficient but the arrogance at this place is ridiculous. I came here wanting things done specifically and instead I was told what I should do because they suggest this ... well they aren't suggesting no payment plans so I'm not able to get everything done ' I got the oil change and they didn't do what else I requested because they felt there was other important things to do ... but let's start there regardless it'll still need to be done. Buddy rocking that "Gucci belt" up front is annoying as well it's like when he was explaining in person he was real nice but soon as I left and had to call back he's talking to me as if I'm "dumb" & making mockery of the fact I need a lot more work done. read more

We highly recommend this Midas repair shop! We have had several tire repairs and replacements and have always been very pleased with their service. This week we decided to price out a brake job, new pads, oil change, tire rotation, etc. RJ was very professional and helpful. He got us right in and they finished with everything within two hours! Took my pick up to have tires balanced. I asked for them to check the right front for a loose shock as I was hearing a noise when driving which sounded like a loose shock. It was a test. I already knew that the rubber bushing was gone and have new shocks on the way which I will install. I was told, when they were working on the left front tire that I had excessive play and needed both an idler arm a pitman arm. The vehicle has 10,000 miles on it. I have worked on cars all my life. I needed neither. I asked the guy working on the truck to make sure he looked at the right front shock when he got to that side. He never did nor did he tell me that there was no top rubber bushing, Guess if they couldn't upsell me parts and labor that I didn't need they were disinterested. God help anyone who doesn't know anything about cars. I'd suggest finding a small garage that you know has ethics. read more

Midas on South Florida is HORRIBLE! Made repairs before getting permission to perform the repairs! Called and said that they would refund! Returned for refund.....petty worker removed the part placed but didn't place the original part back on the car. My question is what are they going to do with the part that they removed??? 1 star out of 5 only because yelp wouldn't allow a zero!!! read more

I came in for an AC diagnostic check. The team leader Ali was helpful and looked into my needs. The technician, however, did not make me feel comfortable with the diagnostic and immediately just recommends a replacement of the compressor and condenser for around $6,500. I got desperate and opted to have the system recharged. After less than half an hour came back and said the compressor is not taking in charge and again insists on the replacement. He then offered a financing which I declined. Midas charged me not only the diagnostic but also the supposedly recharge of the system that the compressor is not taking in Freon. I'm not a technician but I know when I'm about to be taken advantage of. I'm sorry but I don't feel right that I paid for the service that I didn't get. I give this store and crew 0 stars. They are liars and crooks and smile in your face while their hitting you in your wallet. The 2 service managers RJ and Tarek claim to be the owners of this store and they Absolutely are not!!!! Are for good reason they have 0 customer service skills and they are only out to get the most money they can from the consumer. I took my car in their to have AC work done and when I went to pick my car up was told that I had a radiator issue and it would cost me an additional 600 but I was never told until I got their that I had a radiator issue and I certainly didn't have radiator issues when I dropped the car off. They say that they showed me the crack in the radiator but they did not they said I had the option of putting my old radiator back in my car or putting the radiator that they could get that would cost me 600 more dollars in my car I said I couldn't afford the 600 and I didn't have radiator issues that morning when I dropped it off so put my car back together with my radiator but then the tech refused to put my radiator back in and I was told that my only option was to put their 600 radiator in my car if i wanted my car back. So I did that but ONLY because I was not given any other option!!! That's NOT RIGHT how do I know what really happened to my radiator that was fine that very morning I don't I only have what THEY told me and then despite what their telling corporate only gave me one option and that not RIGHT and they won't get AWAY with it I won't go away and I won't stop until they make it right because if I do then they do to someone else what they did to me!!!!! So please don't support this shop because they lie and they steal and they'll make you believe that there not that kind of shop BUT THEY ABSOLUTELY ARE. read more

I was taking my car to another place in south Lakeland, but they couldn't get me in, so I decided to try the Midas in north Lakeland. On my way there I saw this one. It really doesn't stand out very much so I didn't even know it was there. I went inside and asked if they had time to check a leaking tire, change my oil, and wipers. They did. The staff was very nice. I was able to watch the mechanic work on my car, and so impressed by the attention he was giving it. The manager "Glenn Bonelli", said the leak was in an area that they could be repaired. "they plugged and patched", changed my oil, and wipers and the price was great. They even gave me an oil changing coupon. I will ALWAYS bring my vehicle here for service. If you are looking for an honest company, I would recommend this one. I've been here a few times and found the staff competent and honest, the work has been good, and the prices are within the norms for the area. Sometimes the front desk staff seems bored with dealing with people and somewhat arrogant. I like that they're part of a national chain that really stands behind their work. I've never had such a bad experience with a car place, and you couldn't pay me to come back here. At best, the people that work here are poorly trained. At worst, they're incompetent and unethical. The day I got my brakes done here, I drove away hearing a "whoop-whoop-whoop" sound and a grinding noise that I felt in the steering wheel and pedals. I thought it might go away, and when it didn't (got worse, actually), I returned and firmly told them to do what they had to do to eliminate the noise. After dealing with one of the guy's bad attitude (at one point he asked if I even knew how to change a tire), I was told that the grinding noise in question was coming from an aging axel and not the brakes. The whooping sound was because of the new rotors. (No! It should not make noise!) They said there was nothing they could do and sent me away. First of all, if the axel is making that noise because of age, why did it all of a sudden make the noise immediately after I got my brakes done there? Secondly, why did nobody tell me to replace the axel when I first got the brakes done there? Why is it not noted on my inspection report as being old and in need of replacement? Something doesn't add up. So, later, I went to a second mechanic who said the brake job Midas did was terrible and that my axel was fine. I called Midas back after lodging a formal complaint with the corporate offices only to be given more runaround from the office. The manager said he ran the car at 50 miles per hour while on the lift and then applied the brakes and didn't hear the noise. Aside from the fact that I don't think it's physically possible to do that on a lift, they're now denying hearing a noise they previously admitted to hearing and are essentially calling me a liar. They again said they would do nothing for me. I asked for my money back at that point and was told the owner would have to do that and that he'd have him call me. My tire pressure was low yesterday so they filled everything for me for free. Then today the light came on again so I went back and they found a nail in the tire. They don't carry the tire in stock and I don't live in Lakeland, so they put my spare on for me (free again) and gave me tons of advice and told me where to go to get a new tire in Tampa. And everyone there was really nice! They turned what could have been an awful evening into a minor inconvenience... I'll definitely go back if I need something! read more

Having car trouble Midas was very fair. I went to auto part store to diagnose my problem. I found out it was mass air flow sensor. The part was 150ish. I called Firestone because I have an account and was quoted 320.00. I told them the part was 150 at auto part store and they lowered the price to 260. Midas was recommended by the auto parts store. Charged me 50.00 to install. When he saw how easy the job was he discounted it further. Nick was very fair I then had him change plugs and a cylinder. Car is running well. I will return. I wanted to know where the manager was and the employee responded in a rude manner (and slurring his words) that I shouldn't ask so many questions. The new manager, Alex, was very helpful and got my tire ordered quickly and efficiently. Affordable and honesty is what you will get at this shop. They did a transmission flush and a 3 step intake, fuel injection and throttle body cleaning that i needed done on my car since it had 71,000 miles on it and has never had its transmission fluid changed or intake cleaned. They were honest and allowed me into the shop and showed me step by step what they were doing. They also gave me a discount, which was nice of them. Plus, first time customers will have to show their ID with debt or credit cards at this Midas, which i thought was nice and it shows that they are looking out for the customers security incase someone stole your debt or credit card and used it for services their own car. It's nice to know that there are still people out there looking out for the customer. I will def go back to them in the future. read more
