This review received one star because I couldn't give it zero stars! Young ladies beware! Our daughter took her Honda Civic Coupe in for an oil change. Her dad and I both text her the exact oil and filter number which she promptly showed to Greg. Greg asked her what kind of oil do you want and she said she didn't know. Greg went to the back and came back and told her she needed synthetic oil and it will be 89.99. My daughter thinking he knew what he was talking about said ok - you know you would think he would be knowledgeable. She was so proud of the fact that she was responsible and did this by herself. The only problem is that Greg took advantage of her and unnecessarily did the Classic Upsell on her. My daughter called me that day and told me the price and I was floored. The oil change should have been $39.99 not $89.99. I was steamed to say the least! I immediately called Midas and talked with the salesperson and he said yes he did sell her synthetic oil and I told him that was not what she was told by her father and I. I told him that it would have been $50 in Texas and he laughed, yes LAUGHED, at me. So I waited until my husband got home and he called Greg at Midas and asked why they put synthetic oil in her car when we clearly requested regular oil. He tried telling my husband that a Civic is suppose to use synthetic oil, WRONG, we've owned 3 civics and they really do not need it until they are older with high mileage. He at first lied to my husband and said that they didn't carry regular oil but then backtracked and said yes they did. AND my husband is the one who services all of our cars! One returning customer not going back becuase A. If I am making a reservation online then obviously I am doing it online becuase I cannot answer my phone at work. Otherwise I would have called to make a reservation. B. The gentleman at the desk felt he has the right to show me an attitude since he had already called once to confirm for my reservation which I did not answer. Now, I am not nitpicking that he was on his cell phone while I was standing there, or he just called once and felt that calling once was good enough, or he lied to me saying that the place is closed when clearly its was 6.40pm and the place closes at 7.00pm. What I am upset about is the customer service. I have also worked at TLE dept. before and I know that people hate to stay late at work after closing hours. And I was maybe the last customer at 6.40pm and there may be other jobs to complete before me. I don't blame him, nobody wants to stay late to work. Everybody wants to go home early and wants to see Netflix and chill. And I would have gladly rescheduled my appointment if he would have spoken to me nicely or politely. I am a customer and that's the last thing I need is an attitude or rudeness after being denied a service. I am an employee also I know how difficult is it to satisfy your customer. But I try to go an extra mile to retain an angry customer. When I went in for an oil change today, they declined thier service because my car passed 1000 miles from the regular 3000 mile check point. They said they looked inside my car and my metal parts were all melted from the over heated oil. I came back to Midas to pick up my car. my car was still in the same place where I parked it and looked untouched. They gave me a whole speech about how my 1000 mile overage completely ruined my engine and changing the oil will freeze everything. I took it to another place and my engine was fine. Took my car for a oil leak under right side of hood, they say they're going to run checks on it to see where oil leaks are coming from, so they finally say the leak is coming from left side and it was a seal, that same day I notice my car is still leaking, I go back and they say it's just excess run off, mind you they charged me over $300 for the job saying it was just a seal cap and replacement, so now my car still leaks oil from the same place I originally told them to check, now they tell me to go get a steam clean under the hood and buy a liquid to pour into engine and then take back so they find the problem . I've just financially recovered from the biggest scam artist in LA and I can finally sit down and write this review. I've never been treated worse by 2 people in my life. Eric and PJ both work at this Midas and after running a FULL diagnostic on my car, they told me one of my sensors had gone bad. I mistakenly trusted them and paid 800 DOLLARS to get it fixed. The next day my car still has an engine light on so I go back and they tell me they put a defected sensor in my car. They told me they'd fix it for free. Instead of fixing it they call me the next day and tell me the rest of my sensors are bad and I need to pay them right away so that they can fix them. In the span of one day I went from one bad sensor to 4 bad sensors and it apparently "wasn't their fault". Eric and PJ are the worst people I've ever had to work with and if you find yourself at the shop and see that name tag...RUN. read more

I scheduled an appointment online for Last Saturday 7/16/22 at 3:30pm. I got a call back at about 1:30pm (about 2 hours after I made the appointment) telling me that I needed to reschedule my appointment for another day because they had no more available appointments for that Sat. I made the appointment under my husband's name since he was going to be the one taking the van in. So, my husband talks to the gentleman and reschedules the appointment for the next day at 8am. Well, today Sat 7/23/22 my husband takes the van to Midas for the oil change, Only to be told that he doesn't have an appointment in the system. The employee told my husband that the only appointment that appeared on the system was the one from last Sat and it appeared as cancelled! My husband told him he never cancelled the appointment, that he was called to reschedule and showed them the number from where he was called. The employee just said that then whoever he talked to didn't put the appointment in the system, and the only thing he could do was give him another appointment for another day. My husband asked if they could do the oil change today and the employee said no. And that they were waiting on two cars to do the oil change that morning and they didn't have any appointments left until next week. What a waste of time from such unprofessional place. read more

On Saturday, I found my car had a flat tire. It had been parked at the JW Marriott at LA Live valet for 3 days and the valet employee told me it had been a "slow flat." To me that meant it may have been a very small hole or tear, so I filled it up and found this Midas just down the street. An employee greeted me warmly and I explained the situation. They said they would check it out and see if they could patch it up. I waited in the shop waiting room for about 30 minutes before hearing any news. They told me that it was "unfixable" and I could buy a new tire for $189 + tax. I had JUST purchased 2 new tires at my local mechanic shop in San Diego where I take my car regularly, and each tire was $95 + labor/tax for a total of $120 each. I told him that, and he just shrugged his shoulders and said "I can't match that." So I asked if he could simply patch it so I could drive from LA to SD that day and he said, "That's against our policy." First of all, what does that mean? He had no additional explanation. Second of all, if a customer asks for a patch, why wouldn't you give her one? No explanation. Simply more shoulder shrugging. It didn't help that there was some schmo in the waiting area saying "$95, you crazy?" and the employee nodded along, as if this random idiot's opinion on tire pricing was further solidifying Midas' "policy." So, I took my chances and drove down to San Diego with the slow leak. I had to stop once halfway to fill it up, and just this morning I took it to my shop ... and guess what?? THEY EFFING PATCHED IT FOR FREE. F. you. MIDAS. Clearly, it wasn't worth it to you to patch my tire for the measly $15 to help a fellow human out, and you just wanted to RIP ME OFF for a tire, that I didn't even need. Before I took my car to university tire I have it to Midas to repair. They couldn't fix it either. But rather than tell me the car was never going to be right They did refund part of my money. But that was after spending 410 bucks and taking my car back to them five times in order for them to fix what they said they could. The one guy who shall remain nameless tool off an essential piece of the throttle body in order to try to fix the car. That piece was factory installed! Not aftermarket.
