I would give 5 stars just for Vincent at the front desk. He was very friendly and professional. Even when I called the next day about my issue he was very considerate and thanked me for calling in to report my issue. The tech was Devyn per my invoice. When I dropped my car off I had a few items on my seat, a note book, wired headphones and an ink pen. Now when I got my car back home I was in search of all those items, I searched every where until later that evening I just said check the glovebox because where else could they be unless stolen. I try to open the glove box and it's hard to open, that had never happened before, I opened it finally and my notebook exploded out of the glove box because it was literally jammed in & folded horribly. I have an Infiniti g37, glove box is tiny by the way but I also had two pair of shades neatly placed in my glove box, obviously Devyn didn't care and damaged both of my sunglasses in the process. So then I'm thinking why is he even in my glove box so I called and they told me to check the cabin filter, the cabin filter isn't even in the glove box for this model. Finally I'm getting ready to leave town and my trunk won't open at all, I had no issues with my trunk at all prior to Devyn servicing my vehicle. After searching the net to no avail, I ended up going to the dealership & being charged for diagnostic. They reveal that there is a button in my glove box that can disable the trunk. I'll place a picture to show you the button but just imagine how careless and rough you'd have to be to someone's property to press this button by mistake! Then if you did it intentionally, why ? Don't ever take your car to Vincent!! I went in for radiator work and he ZIP TIED my radiator, which caused it to blow my engine completely! This guy is a con artist and a scammer, and a bum!! Wtf zip ties something inside of the engine compartment? I'm currently proceeding with legal action against them! I have documentation from the new shop I took it to, that said your radiator was zip tied! I've never heard of this in history of cars! I am so thankful for the staff at Midas!! Yesterday morning, my check engine light came on and the car was really struggling out of nowhere - it took Let me completely by surprise! I was able to make it to the shop, and they had a diagnosis for me just a few hours later. Significant engine work was involved, but they were able to get the work done 24 hours after I got the car to them! I had expected it to be close of business today before it was ready. Brought my new to me 2008 Suzuki sx4 in for a general assessment and road worthy test. Replaced my tire rod ends, rear breaks, changed the oil, and aligned my tires. $12xx Completely missed that the water pump was failing, and it was noisy!! which ended up costing me another $12xx, plus hotel stay. Forgot to put the bolts back on after checking the air filter, and possibly other bolts that ended up costing me an extra $35 in shop fees where I broke down. Broke down meaning water pump catastrophically fails, on i10 at 75mph, taking out the water pump pulley, drive belt, belt tensioner, and serpentine belt. Apparently. That's what pep boys in Daphne, AL got me for anyway. It's a shame. I was ready and willing to have Midas charge me anything to keep me on the road and safe. read more

I went to Midas to replace a bent exhaust pipe and fix an exhaust leak under the hood. The price was reasonable and the work appeared good at first, but very quickly the exhaust leak under the hood reappeared. Now keep in mind, exhaust leaks are serious. The fumes penetrate the firewall and get into the passenger cabin. An exhaust leak can actually kill you if you leave the windows up and run the engine for too long with no ventilation. I didn't actually confirm the exhaust leak had come back until my regular mechanic noticed it weeks later, and then I called them up to fix the problem. They said that they were booked for the day. I got upset and explained to them that their work had put me at risk, and I expected them to fix the problem immediately. They told me that they only warranted their work for 30 days, but grudgingly agreed to replace the seal again. After waiting for hours, the seal was replaced. However, it was still not airtight and now I'm in the same boat again. I suspect that they didn't secure the new exhaust line properly, which is causing it to break the seal in the engine compartment. However, at this point I won't be going back to Midas. read more

I brought my vehicle in for brake service on a Thursday morning. After 7 days without any communication, I reached out to the shop. I was given several excuses why my vehicle had not been looked at yet. I'm fully aware of our country's employment shortage(which is the main excuse I was given, among others). Now as the customer, this is not my problem. If the work can't be done, please inform me ahead of time before taking possession of my vehicle. This is not my biggest concern. While my vehicle was in his possession it was parked it by the back fence of his yard. During this time tree cutters came and covered my vehicle with chainsaw oil and wood chips. After 8 days without having my means of transportation, I arrived to pick up my vehicle and saw the condition it was in. Someone then proceeded to go out and smear all this around before giving me possession back of my still NOT repaired vehicle. DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS WITH YOUR PROPERTY!! read more

If you're car needs work with the brakes, it would make sense to go this place which specializes in them. The people working here are honest and not ready to overcharge you. I like the fact they don't charge you just to inspect brake pads and rotors. A lot of places would have charged $40 for that. The brake fluid flush they did was also very reasonable. Although the place gets busy so do expect to wait a while until the service is completed. read more

We called them ahead of time to make sure they would accept a coupon for a $20 dollar oil change and tire rotation, and they assured us over the phone that they would honor the coupon. However when we got there, they said they never do oil changes for less than $25 and were adamant even when we mentioned the phone conversation. And THEN at the end they added a $5 oil disposal fee. So our "guaranteed" $20 service turned into $32. I'm not as annoyed by the price difference as I am by the dishonesty. They straight up lied just to get us to come to their store and then screwed us over. Update: Even after receiving service here, my steering wheel still pulls dramatically to the right and shakes violently. It shakes worse than it did before I brought it in. Sold us new expensive tires but Vincent didn't pick up on the fact that we needed a wheel alignment done which meant less than 6 weeks later we needed brand new tyres and Midas refused to refund us or help us out in any way. We are currently $600 out while working on minimum wage, they have screwed us over so exponentially. Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Go ANYWHERE else. read more

we were taking our 2004 pontiac grand prix gtp comp-g (supercharged motor with "competition" suspension) to texas to visit family and friends. we had found a coupon in the paper for $25 for an oil change, filter, tire rotation, and fluid topoff at midas. first, i asked what kind of oil they used. it's some re-constituted crap. $5 extra for pennzoil. i had to be sure they used the proper weight as well as the car demands 5w-30. second, there seemed to be only two mechanics; one to run to the auto store to get things midas did not stock for the cars, and the other to do the work. the mechanic doing the work was named vince divincent (i got his card). he seemed all right and i took the three hours before my car was done in stride by reading the paper and talking with others in the lobby. a mile after i rolled out, the car's computer beeped and informed me that my tire pressure was low. i called my girl and asked her to call midas, tell them i'd be back, and i want them to put the proper air pressure in my tires immediately. i was pissed because it was obvious vince screwed something up during the rotation or simply didn't read that the high performance yokohama tires need 51 psi. when i rolled in, i walked into the lobby where the woman held her hand out for the keys. i thanked her and she said my girl had called and they'd get to it right away. i waited ten minutes, walked into the garage, found the office where vice was on a computer and asked how long it would take to get the proper air pressure in my tires. this is what happened: vince: "you said you're a writer, right?" me: "yes." vince: "well i'm a mechanic." me: "great. can you read?" vince: "the tire pressure is on the sticker on the inside of your driver's door." me: "the car is seven years old. it doesn't have stock tires and there is no sticker on the door that tells me anything about tires. the tires themselves clearly state they need 51 psi. what did you put in?" vince: "32 is standard. i'll be with you in a minute." at that point i realized this guy was a fucking idiot. i walked out to call my girl. we spoke for one minute. then i started to yell. "FIX MY FUCKING CAR NOW! THIS IS BULLSHIT! YOU CAN'T EVEN FILL TIRES RIGHT!" vince came roaring out, asking again for "a minute." "I GAVE YOU THREE FUCKING HOURS PLUS THIS HALF-HOUR TO MAKE YOU PUT THE RIGHT PRESSURE IN MY TIRES. YOU HAD MORE THAN A FUCKING MINUTE! FIX MY FUCKING CAR NOW!" people in the lobby were looking out nervously. vince opened the driver's door, looking in vain for the sticker that would prove him right. i laughed at him and guided him to the tire that said 51psi, underlining it with my finger. he said that was too much pressure. i replied, "i am a writer. i can read. i am telling you to put 51 in my tires right fucking now before i call your district office to tell them they have an illiterate mechanic at this location!" he got in the car, drove it into the garage, filled the tires, put it in reverse and hopped out. a minute later the woman came out and asked if it was done. i said i didn't know, "vince didn't say anything." she disappeared for a moment and returned to say the tires were filled to 51psi. i got in, reset the computer to clear the tire pressure message, and left. the next morning we drove eight hours to austin. on our way back the day after, the power steering went out. there was no "low power steering fluid" message on the computer and it only went out when we pulled off the road to get gas. once at speed on the highway, it returned. still, once we arrived back in new orleans, it went out. the next morning i checked the levels of all the fluids (antifreeze, brake, and power steering). all the reservoirs were filled to the brim, well past the fill lines. and the oil level was low. i drained almost 3/4 cup of brake fluid and almost as much power steering fluid. it still didn't work. i called a friend who hooked me up with a well-known mechanic who specializes in high performance cars, and who will repair it for so inexpensively i feel guilty. he and i spoke for almost an hour about all sorts of things from old fords to motorcycles. his work comes with a six-month written guarantee and we'll have this fixed next week. i feel thankful to have met him, but wish i would have known him before this hassle. if you go to this midas (and my guess is any midas in nola), you are going to get fucked. stay away from them at all costs. read more

$500 rip off This seems typical... over charge people from out of town. After all when the get home it'll be too late. Not anymore. Every summer we take a log road trip and a couple of years ago we drove to New Orleans from California Via The Everglades. As we were leaving, we discovered that we had metal on metal on the left front brake so we had to spend and extra day to get it fixed. These guys said that they had to do brakes in pairs so we had the fronts done. Well we had to have the other side done recently and found out the Midas in New Orleans charged us for both sides and only did the one side. read more

I went to Firestone on Camp St looking to get my brakes my brakes fixed. They gave me an estimate over $1,200!!!! Needless to say I left and hoping that they would last past xmas.....they did not. Friday they went out and it was medal on medal so Saturday I had to have my truck towed in. We all are so worried to have to have your car towed to a mechanic because we all know what is coming. Well NOT at the Midas on Canal. Vincent was honest and told me that I did not need new rotors which I was told I did, I just needed my rotors turned and new pads, $294all in. I was not hammered with fees and add ons which Firestone wanted to do. I can honestly say that Vincent is the most honest mechanic I have ever dealt with and I would recommend him to my daughter. read more

After reading reviews at Ripoff Report (highly recommended) , I see a pattern of one of the ways Midas conducts their rip offs. It goes like this: they quote an estimate for a partial repair then they encourage you to do a full repair for an additional egregiously expensive amount. If they try this routine on you, go elsewhere, you probably don't need any repair at all. If you take the car in for a problem and the price seems out of line, leave and get an opinion from a friend. Check parts prices at Auto Zone. Midas will inflate these prices steeply. Better yet, don't go to Midas at all! read more

I took my car in for a specific repair as well as an oil change before driving 1,400 miles on a road trip. I made it very clear to the manager that I needed to feel like the car was safe to take on the road. I ended up breaking down about 400 miles outside of N.O. because of a leak that should have been detected by the amount of fluid that was covering the engine (I had no idea). Come to find none of my fluids had been checked, everything was low, my tires were low on air, and there wasn't even a sticker to remind me when my next oil change was due. I have no idea if they even did the oil change, by the looks of things. I could have gotten in a serious accident because of their negligence. Needless to say, I'll never go there again. read more
