When answering they were very friendly and I got put on the phone with Al who was awesome! I asked if he had experience with Lexus models (the car I specifically wanted inspected was the 2005 Lexus LS 430) and he did, sharing his knowledge. He did a great job with all the details he went through giving an honest assessment of the potential issues which were mostly minimal. He went the extra mile answering all my questions and the price they gave was incredible value for $80. After coming several days later to Wixom to the purchase the car from the private seller, I reached out to Al and the team same day to see if they could squeeze me in for a quick once over before my long drive back to New York City and they did that same afternoon. This was extremely important because I was pressed on time and had to leave Michigan early the next morning. John one of the mechanics there greeted me and was super friendly showing great enthusiasm to looking at my new car. We spoke for quite a bit and he took a look at the engine and addressed all the concerns. He even offered to take a look for the oil leak potential issue that popped up during the pre purchase inspection to see if it had subsided or needed to be addressed. These mechanics at this business are passionate hard working professionals that will take care of you and make you feel like you made the best choice in picking them for your car concerns. Definitely felt the Michigan hospitality as someone from a state far away, cannot recommend them enough!

I called the next day at 3 PM to see if my car was ready and they said about 10 minutes. I picked it up and went home. I noticed that the tire rotation had not been done when the woman behind the counter lied to me. The reason why I know this is because I removed the air cap from the passengers rear tire when I got home. I noticed the same tire was in the rear, and I called and notified them. They told me that sometimes they go side to side instead of front to back. I told him that neither had not been in touched. Also, none of my fluids were topped off as my add fluid for the window light was still on. In the morning the next day, I went to Belle tire and paying them to do the rotation and check my fluids during the inspection. They showed me my cabin and air filter which were filthy and should've been pointed out if Tuffy really did an inspection. I've been going there for the past three years never a problem Tuffy now lost me as a customer and their ethics are horrible. I keep my car impeccable, and don't even know if the oil was changed. Never again and you should be ashamed to yourself.

I ordered tires and scheduled an appointment through simpletire. The shop never reached out to me so I showed up on my appointment date and they didn't have me in the schedule due to "someone not putting me in the schedule after receiving the email from simple tire". That was fine and I gave them 2 days to swap my tires and they managed to get it done in 1. I was getting new wheels put on and asked on check-in if there was a fee for moving the sensors or for disposing 2 sets of tires, they did not give me an answer and when the person at the counter (maybe a service advisor maybe a technician/ mechanic, not sure) asked who appeared to be the shop manager the manager was dismissive and said "we'll handle it". On pickup they aggressively told me there was an extra fee for transferring the wheel sensors and I told them that was fine, I expected that and asked about it on check-in and wasn't given an answer. They were also very pushy about me keeping my old set of wheels and tires despite them being too tall and heavy for the car as the old ones were put on during an emergency when I had a flat and that's all the other shop had in stock at the time. I told them no and that I don't have a place to store them multiple times and that I would even pay an extra disposal fee and they kept pushing. They also did an unapproved inspection on the car and complained about my battery that I was already aware of and planned on swapping myself, as well as my brake pads that have been wearing out pre-maturely due to the previous tires I had on the car that were to heavy that they did not want to let me get rid of (I had just had the pads swapped 6 months ago, yet another reason for getting rid of the incorrectly sized tires I had). I don't recommend this place as they are poor on the customer service side and will try to push to do things you don't want to. I really wanted to like this place because it's in a very walkable location in the heart of walled lake, not far from many of the apartment buildings here, so if your car is getting worked on and you live here you can just walk home but I will be driving further for better service next time.

    In February, my wife spun out on ice and smacked a curb. This broke several suspension components…read moreon the car. I am including several screenshots of the diagnosed issues and repairs made in early March. Few weeks later I was driving the car and noticed the rear tire was low on air. I took the car back in. They said it needed a valve stem replacement. They charged me to replace it. I don't know why the valve stem would have suddenly had a problem since they just repaired it all, but it was a cheap repair In early June, I called back and told them that the tire was losing air again. I also noted that something didn't feel right about the cars steering. Especially on sharp turns. A clanging sound, or something with the suspension banging against itself under the car. My wife noted there were sounds when braking as well. I was scheduled to bring the car back in, but my mom suddenly passed away and all things got put on hold. In August we took the car back in. We mentioned the same things as when I called in June, though they really emphasized the brake noise the most. I reminded them on the clanging sounds and odd jerking movements when I did sharp turns of the wheel. I stressed I just wanted them to make sure that the repairs were all done properly and that the car was 100% safe for my family. I don't know anything about mechanics, I simply wanted assurance the car was safe to drive. Patrick assured me he had it test driven and would do so again. He also assured me it was 100% safe, and there were no issues. The one thing they found wrong on the August visit was the valve stem needed to be replaced. On the same tire as the last repair in April. I reminded them that they already replaced this a month prior. He did remove the charge but was unable to explain why it needed to be replaced again. Come October, the SAME TIRE is losing air again. I that the same tire is losing air, and the steering/suspension issues were worse. When I brake it would veer to the left. I spoke with Mike (not at all pleasant) and he said the tire pressure issue was 'cold weather', and the veering issue was 'brake torque'. I told him I needed to make sure it was safe for my family! I agreed to bring it back in but the car hadn't driven right since we got it back in March. The tire was losing air 3 TIMES now. I had to keep clearing my schedule to bring the car in. I decided to make an appointment with FOX Buick GMC instead. FOX discovered that the bolts on the lower control arm (DETROIT GARAGE REPLACED AND REPAIRED IN MARCH) were loose. They said they were likely never torqued down, as they don't just become loose on their own. The CASTER & CAMBER, as well as the BRACE were ALL MISSING. They were just replaced and repaired 6 months prior. FOX said it was UNSAFE to drive, and I was LUCKY the wheel hadn't fallen off! My WIFE AND KIDS are in this car all the time. I had to leave my car with FOX for a week while they repaired it. It cost me $1,200 out of pocket. AND, THEY SAID the SAME tire needed a valve stem replacement! The same thing that Detroit Garage claimed they had done 2 TIMES ALREADY in the past few months. I called, and I emailed them pics and videos of the issues from FOX. They replied back with deflection. Said I should have better described the issues that I was experiencing so they knew where to look better. They also never explained the valve stem issue and why it needed a 3rd replacement. They refunded nothing. They covered no payments. They offered no apologies. They simply told me I should have brought it back to them again, and I chose not to (after being at their shop 3 times in the prior 6 months, and none of it properly addressed). THEY SHOULD HAVE REPAIRED THE CAR RIGHT TO BEGIN WITH! Quite simply put, they SCREWED UP THE REPAIR TO BEGIN WITH. My family could have been very seriously hurt. I have plenty of context and notes from FOX Buick describing how this is directly related to the replacement of all the parts and repairs that The Garage did for me in March.
