This was my 1st time going to a muffler shop for an oil change. Everything went okay until 2 days later. I noticed the stone shield was missing most of the bolts that hold it on, so it was dragging on the ground. This happens when an inexperienced tech uses a pneumatic wrench to replace the steel bolts (which screw into a plastic). The threads get stripped & the bolts fall off. The only way to replace the bolts is with a hand wrench. Unfortunately, most independent garages don't do it this way. read more

I got in my 2005 car yesterday morning around 9. As I started the car I discovered that it was VERY loud. I decided to change my destination from Kroger into the Toyota dealership, discovering en route that I was dragging something on the road. After hearing the engine I was told at the dealership that someone had stolen my catalytic converters. He advised a muffler shop and Midas in particular. Since I had had a muffler done in 2018 and was pleased with the result, I drove to the Novi store. Service rep Bill understood the urgency of the situation, He assigned it to Dean who began his analysis. My exhaust pipe had been cut near the engine and part of the tail pipe was dragging. Bill ordered the needed parts and they were soon delivered. I drove to the police station around 4:30 and reported the crime in a very quiet and smooth running old Prius. The bill was substantial but still less than half what the dealer (who recommended a muffler shop, remember) would have charged. And after contacting my insurance company my comprehensive coverage will pay for the repair in total, even the ordinary $500 deductible. That will leave me more money to spend once I finally make it to Kroger. Yesterday started out with a vandalized car and ended with a quiet car that runs reliably, thanks in large part to this Midas shop. read more

Customer service is now horrible compare to Top Notch excellent customer service by Alex the former Store Manager who received 5 Stars rating from me for previous interactions and work's performance. On Monday I spoke with a female employee, she promised to call me back the same day about a previous quote on future works, but Unfortunately as of Wednesday No phone call. This is very unprofessional and Disrespectful to customers. This location needs leadership very quickly. I have already spent over $1300.00 during the last 3 Months at this location. The customer service was great. However, the car diagnosis was beyond irresponsible. I went in looking to have my serpentine belt replaced and came out with a replaced Idler Pulley and the incumbent belt. The idler pulley was replaced because it was apparently the culprit for a rattling noise in the front end even though the noise is still occurring. I was also told that my car needed to have parts replaced that ended up not even existing on my make and model (outer tie-rod). My advice is to trust this place to perform a simple procedure such as an oil change or even tire service, but do not trust them with any of their recommended additional repairs. They tried to get an extra $400 out of me to resolve a problem that didn't even exist. read more

It's seems like so little to ask, but doing what you say you are going to do goes a long way with me and Bill at Midas did just that. I called for an oil change and tire rotation and he told me the price, he told me the time and he said he would squeeze it in sooner if he could if I dropped it off after hours. I dropped it off after hours, I got a call a half hour prior to when my car was originally scheduled to be serviced letting me know "my hot rod was all set" and when I picked it up, it had even cost less than originally quoted because of a promotion he had not applied. Everyone in the facility was respecting social distancing and signs requested no hand shakes and masks please; which all present observed. Came in for a battery cap and was given an estimate of 70$ then was given a runaround for 2 days and the store Lead Rafe St. Peter used underhanded and sneaky tactics to get vocals confirmation on excess work that was not needed instead of properly explaining it and now we are stuck hostage with a 600$ bill I will never recommend such a sneaky place seriously terrible customer service do not come here! As a woman, you often feel you are getting ripped off by mechanics. This is never the feeling at this Midas in Novi. They are fast, friendly, and professional. They give you your worn out parts. They explain what is wrong with your car and how to keep it running. I could not have had a better experience then the experience I had today with the guys at Midas in Novi, MI. I called ahead and Ken said to bring my car in when it's convenient for me. Once I got there, Josh the technician, showed me what was wrong with my muffler, gave me options and priced out the job within 5 mins of my being there. From the moment that I got there to the moment I left it was 40 minutes! What a team! I had never thought about coming to Midas for brakes. But It was this past Saturday and I was trying to head up north to visit my family for the weekend. I knew my brakes were making noises but they were getting to the point where it was scary to drive. I guess I needed to be Scared in order to get the brakes looked at. We turned around and went home before we got more than a few miles on the freeway. I called every shop I've ever taken my car to. Everyone gave me almost the same song n dance and told me how much they were going to gouge me. I had seen an ad for Midas - $99.99 for Brake Pads installed per axle. I thought Wow if that is all I need then I could afford it. We took the car over to the Midas to have them do a diagnostic. Right off the bat, Midas gets good marks as they only charge $22 to do a diagnostic evaluation. Almost every other place I had called to quoted very high just to Look at the brakes. Best part is, if the Repairs are done the $22 is applied to the Repairs. Of course as it is with almost every other Vehicle Repair shop, they some how some way find something that is Gone wrong and you find out what TRULY needs to be paid for. I was anticipating possibly having to shell out money for Rotors to be machined or replaced. However the Tech found some other potentially hazardous problems. Turns out part of the Caliper had been bent and some corrosion had set in on one of the armature pins and some bushing was not doing its job... Frankly it was all Greek To Me. However, the Midas tech took me over to my Car and face to face showed me my Front Brake and how good it was and how it works and then showed my my Rear Brake and showed me what was wrong. Being Able to SEE the problem, even with my limited Mechanical/Automotive mindset, I was able to understand the Tech was not making b.s. up to try and sell me onto more expensive repairs. They told me how much it was going to be. OUCH. Well I expected about Half the amount. And I did not have that available right then. And to top it off, there was a special Clip that apparently had to be ordered from Ford. So I had to wait till Monday anyway. The Weekend went by with the car out of commission. Come Monday I went back to Midas and they told me it could be 3 or 4 hours. I had taken Time off from Work anyways so I wandered around the Mall for half the day. Finally the Car was ready at 1pm. I paid the money and as I was tallying up the Bill I noticed something odd. The Store Manager Adam, had NOT charged me for the Special Order part. I asked, and he said It was not something that was anticipated and They ate the Cost of the Part because we had already agreed & signed on the Price from Saturday. I was really amazed they honored the Price. Too Often Repair shops seem to go out of their way to gouge the customer. For me, the Midas of Novi really stepped up to the plate. They made an angst ridden experience into something I could tolerate. And they went above and beyond what I expected to help a Customer. Sadly even my local Ford Dealer has never gone the extra mile before. read more

I took my vehicle here for routine oil change and tire rotation after making an appointment. After the service my car was backed into a parking space so I couldn't see the rear of the vehicle when I got in it to leave. I drove it directly home and parked in my driveway. Later that day I went out to run an errand and walked around the back of the vehicle and discovered a dent in my trunk lid. I drove back to the store and talked with the manager and told him that the dent was not there when I went there for service but now it is there. He wanted me to prove that they did it by showing me where it could have happened. How would I know how it happened since I didn't watch every movement of my car while they serviced it. I am going through the process of filing dispute with the bank and filing complains with BBB and Small Claims courts, to recover my money After having spend thousands of dollar at this location (over many years) on my car giving my complete trust ,this what I get in return. My 2nd time replacement of under warranty was charged a 220$+ of labor on 10/26/2019 as it was deemed as "outside of 90days" warranty. The first warranty replacement of the struts was well over 6 months from the original part install date in 03/2018. That was not charged a anything at the time . To add to this, I was told that they will need more money to inspect the vehicle as I found the car not driving properly after the 2nd warranty replacement of struts. I was told it is having other suspension issues and hence would incur additional cost, without even having the courtesy of checking for any installation problem. I do not know what they did, they have completely screwed up the car. The mechanics installing these parts are careless enough to ignore the tightening of sways bars etc. before handing the car back to customer. This happened more than one occasions, and I had to return to the shop with rattling sound coming the suspension immediately after the strut replacement. Other parts (front half shaft) what have been replaced previous have gone bad in less than 6 months.i had the wisdom of replacing them from other reliable auto shops in my area. Do not come to this location and waste your money. read more

I recently had an issue with my envoy and i thought I had to take it to a GMC dealer but after getting a quote from GMC I thought I give Bill a try and long story short he saved me over $900.00 dollars. I can call Rick for nearly anything & 95% of the time he helps me within the same day, whether it's big or small! My most recent car scare was an obnoxious rattling noise from what seemed to be coming from the muffler. I called him beforehand & asked if I could come in so he could check it out. He agreed without hesitation & had me out within a couple hours! Turns out a screw was loose & just had to be tightened (with all these horrible Michigan roads, what can you expect?) Initial scheduling is easy, and they have accommodated emergency stops without "emergency" prices. Rick, the manager, is cordial & welcoming. I had my oil changed at a different Midas and I had a feeling they didn't do the courtesy check they were supposed to do (and that I inquired about when I picked up my car the next day, which they still said they did), as my engine light was still on, and my car still made noises, yet they said everything was fine. This Midas did a courtesy check for me, and it was very thorough, and they found a lot of things were wrong with my car (as I suspected). Had I not gone to see them, I'd probably be broken down on the side of the road! read more

Would HIGHLY recommend this Midas location! After being told by Discount Tire in New Hudson, that I had a tire that wasn't holding pressure, and there must be a nail in it, I didn't have an hour to wait so off I went to the Midas in Novi by my work.....Stopped in there, told Rick that my tire pressure light is on, can you please check them out, (I already know I have a slow leak in one tire), but Midas was honest enough to tell me that he filled up all tires with air and they were holding pressure! Being a woman, he could have told me something was in 2 tires, and made a quick $60 by patching them. Instead it was totally free and I love HONESTY!! Will definitely take my car back if any issues arise! read more

I had my front brakes, rotors and calipers replaced at midas of novi in December 2014 due to bad brakes on my 07 eclipse. Immediately after leaving the same symptoms in which I had just brought it in to improve continued, just less frequently. Concerned about this I took it to midas of west bloomfield and explained what had happened. He tested it and of course it did nothing. No noises. He still offered to repace it no charge. I am not a wasteful person, and my time as in everyone else is valuable. I decided maybe it was just me being picky and i should just wait to see if it would stop eventually. So I drive it 22 months and 26000 miles and the initial grinding sound fully returns. Ready to kick myself for not resolving this earlier I return to the west bloomfield midas and the nice man who had offered to replace the system no charge was no longer there. Instead there were a bunch of young guys that were not helpful. So I reluctantly take it back to the novi location I originally had the repair teribly done obviously. The man at the counter was notibly different from the last guy who had wrote me up on the initial repair. The new guy, the store manager went above and beyond the normal realm of helping a customer. He was very helpful, friendly, caring, just an over all down to earth guy. I was impressed how he was huffing it running around to help the several customers who were there while I waited for the repair, all who seemed also happy with his help and effort. Not too many people out there this day and age that will go the extra distance tlike I saw him execute while I was there. So as long as he is running this location I will use him for my automotive services as needed. And if your reading this, you also should consider using him. He is very honest. Thanks Midas of Novi.
