I said "I made an appointment." He said "lots of people make appointments. Then a 30 minute jobs turns into a three hour job..." I just grabbed my keys and left as he was still talking. I have a multitude of issues with these scam artists, please see the itemized list below. *They charged me $1600 for a complete brake job. *Didnt honor the 2 year warranty because they wrote a bullshit mixed warranty where it was 2 years on my front brakes & 1 year on the rear without my consent. *[[HIGHLIGHT]]Greg lied to me on the phone and told me I had a full 2 year warranty & made me drive an hour with ZERO brakes just to tell me the rear brakes would cost $1500 and they wouldnt honor the warranty.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] *My brake lines now have a leak, which is new. I needed a new battery for my Escape and Advance Auto Parts couldn't do it because I guess you have to take a bunch of stuff out to get at it, so I ended up here. They said they'd try to have it done within the hour. Two hours later they pulled my car up out front and brought the keys up to the counter but there was no one there to ring me up. Eventually he came back and after a few minutes I went up to the counter and the guy told me he was behind on paper work and it would be a while longer, and I stood there for another 15 minutes before I could pay and leave. It ended up being the 30 bucks more that AAP too, at $180 Maybe the thing that bummed me out the most though was there was only 1 k cup left which I felt bad taking, but they didn't have any creamer. Bottom line: nice enough staff, but in my opinion their quality of work has gotten worse over the years and you'd probably be better off taking your vehicle somewhere else. My family knew the manager/owner(?) Doug for a while before this was "Pep Boys," back when it was a one-off shop. We've gone there for at least 5-6 years, and I don't take my cars there at all anymore. In my opinion, they did much better work back then overall, but it was still only 3-3.5/5 stars back then. In my opinion they greatly overcharge for labor and do mediocre work (for example they did an oil change and forgot to put oil back in the vehicle so we had to replace the entire engine...then they damaged the engine so they had to obtain ANOTHER engine and finally put that one in weeks later!). I would never recommend or trust this shop with anything. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It shows they close at 7pm and after calling for 30 minutes on Tuesday at 6:30pm with no answer I left a voicemail to call back asap and had to call again at 8:30am Wednesday because they did not call back.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you call their number, 248-349-0290, and press 1 for business hours it says they are open Monday thru Saturday 8am-7pm. I was told they close at 6pm with the excuse they have no staff and no where does it say they close at 6pm or was that communicated to me. Most disappointing was my visit to Fishers, Indiana about two years ago at which point I vowed to permanently terminate my relationship with Pep Boys. This week; however, I visited Pep Boys on Novi Road with a completely different outcome. I called ahead and came in for brake service; Kari helped me and was by far the most professional and most qualified rep. I have ever dealt with at Pep Boys. She wrote up my invoice, followed up with a phone call and email, and helped me once again when I returned following job completion. Coming in, and coming back, took a matter of minutes. If you know what you want . . . order online, they followed up before the scheduled drop off, carefully went thru the list of deliverables- including suggestions on changes to pre-order, took the car early (finished early), provided "lyft" transport (provided by them: to and fro, if required), provided future service options, provided great service with a smile by the entire team . . . I've been to the Pep boys in Florence Kentucky and they were always great. My tire went flat and I'm pretty sure it needed a patch so I filled it and made an appointment with Pep Boys and told them since my tire was new if they would patch it for free. I drop it off and ask if they would call me when it's done. 3 hours later no call. I called them and asked if it's ready, they abruptly say it's ready so I go there, he sets the keys down and said all set. Didn't even tell me what's wrong, so I asked and he said they resealed the rim. Didn't even get a receipt on what they did. My car wheels have been giving off bad pressure and I had to get plugs and putting air in tires.. pep boys actually did a free inspection and showed me I needed an alignment and new tires. Went to the location 15 minutes prior to closing to pick up car and was told they figured out what was wrong and it would be another 20 minutes. I had a horrible experience with this Pep Boys location in Novi, MI yesterday morning. A car service light regarding my brakes came on in my vehicle so I decided to take it to this location. It was around 8:00 a.m. I went into the Pep Boys and waited at the desk where someone should have ben to greet me, but no one was there. There were a few customers waiting in the waiting area, but no employees. I waited ten minutes and then started looking for someone to assist me. Someone was in the back where they fix the cars, but I could not get to them. I then proceeded to wait another ten minutes thinking someone has to come and assist me, no one came, While I was on my 20 minute wait another customer came in and still no one came. I called the number to this Pep Boys so someone would answer the phone and they wouldn't answer. I went back to the door where they fix the cars and saw an employee and told him we needed help, he looked at me and said we will be there. They still never came and I had waited 30 minutes. This is ridiculous and no one should be treated this way at any business. Shame on you Pep Boys! read more
