My 20 year old took his car to Midas for an oil change on January 12, 2019 and they called to let him know he would need front and rear brakes approximately $1100. I told them not fix it was too much money. I called Mavis in Ridgewood they were running a special on brakes. Long story short the car only needed front brakes he said the back brakes look brand new and $440 later the car is fixed. Seriously what is wrong with people. So disappointing. read more

I have been getting my cars serviced for several years at the Midas located in Paramus, NJ. Todd Ukella, the Manager is a pleasure doing business with. When I arrive, I am always greeted in a Professional ,friendly manor. The price for the required issue is discussed in detail so you know what the job will cost and no hidden surprises. In addition, the technicians are very good and I have seen most of them working there for several years. This tells me, they enjoy their work at that location. Dont ever go here!!!!!! Check engine light came on stopped here because of convenience to workplace. Of course a diagnostic had to be done for $89.00 plus tax. So the quote for a simple value was $630.00. I called 3 other places who quoted a third of the price. I ended up taking it to a place that didn't charge me for the diagnostic (he had to redo to be sure) and the bill was around $200.00. I felt totally scammed. I booked my appointment with Edward who apparently is the assistant manager.. but when I got there there was no appointment to be found. I don't know what assistance manager doesn't know how to book an appointment correctly. Anyways Orlando who said he was the manager than helped me but had a very nasty attitude. My appointment was suppose to be for 12pm but my car wasn't taken into the garage for another hour!!! Than it took another hour for the job to get done! They charged me over $2000 to replace my struts years ago...and that is all they replaced, not springs, not mounts, not sway bars, etc... What's worse is they put on $50 autosport international vsv struts and called them "OEM", which they are not, not even close. I didn't realize any of this until I went back recently to have them honor the lifetime warranty, due to what they explained was a suspension issue causing the noise I was complaining about. They wanted $300 to replace the struts, and intended to put back the same crappy struts. In addition, they said at the time that I needed to replace the "Steering Assay" and associated components, which they would do for a "discount" and only charge $1280. Not only did this not fix the sound I went there complaining about, but it was absolutely unnecessary & also caused alignment issues and vibration that were never there before, and they said they then needed to replace the drive shaft and ball joints for another $1500. Long story short, I went to a new garage down the street from me (not Midas) and identified the issue in 10 minutes & they put a pipe-fitter around my catalytic converter heat shield *for free* and resolved this seemingly simple issue!!!!!! read more

terrible this Midas has gone downhill I've been a faithful and loyal customer for many years now unfortunately the people who speak to me on the phone and in person are rude and do not understand customer service tried to charge me $40 for an oil change and tell me that that's the regular price and then try to do an upsell with the service that is not needed. not returning ever. read more

I caught a flat on route 17 on the spare donut i had from the previous flat i caught the day before, I barely made it to the shop when the gentleman told me they didn't have tires for my 2004 honda accord in stock. I mentioned if i could at least get some air to fill the donut and he made it a big deal saying that they would have to pull me into the bay which will take awhile since they had cars they were working on. He was however kind enough to point me to the nearest Sears Auto Center but never gave up the free air to get me there. Bottom line - don't expect them to over extend themselves and be helpful to the consumer. I'm sure as in every other business, all they care about are the $$$'s. My safety and that of others was obviously not a priority for them. read more

For an oil change, the price is right if you have a coupon. But for the second time in just over a year, I made an appointment & dropped my car only to return an hour later and find they hadn't even started my oil change. I've been a customer for years and am very disappointed in the lack of service. If I had just dropped off my car I might understand, but how hard is it to honor an oil change appointment? Contemplating just spending the extra money on the 10 minute oil changes that I used to use. Not worth waiting 90 minutes for something that should take 15. read more

My mom always used to take her '94 Oldsmobile to the Bergen Mall location. Now that that's closed and I own the car, I was happy to find another nearby location. Ed who answered the phone was very nice and helpful and we made an oil change appointment. When I came in, I met Sean the manager, and he was patient and informative in explaining what kind of tires I should get for my car. I knew I was well over due to replace them and he helped me make a practical and economically good decision. I called the next day to order them and they arrived and were installed on schedule. I'm very pleased with this location and really appreciated Sean's friendly and helpful demeanor. I'll definitely come back for future oil changes and maintenance. read more

My Son brought his van to Midas on Rt 17 for new breaks. He left the van there with breaks that worked. I got a call saying the break job would cost almost $3,000.00 because the break lines ruptured. Both my brother and son are mechanics. We immediately called the Paramus Police Department to press charges because the break lines were ruptured in a few spots by Midas' workers. I am seeking a criminal case first because we have proof, from my Son's Mirror Dash Cam that 3 workers at the Midas tampered with the break lines after they parked the car. The Office of the Attorney General has been notified of the event. The Attorney General's Office investigates a businesses practices unlike the Better Business Bureau. Places of business pray that you contact the BBB because they do nothing at all. This was a criminal act. read more

Got my car worked on here on my father's recommendation. The people are really kind and the work they do is solid. The place is clean and located in a nice spot if you're going to be waiting a while. Paramus Park Mall is less than 10 minutes walking and Dunkin Donuts is next door if you get hungry. If you don't want to pay for coffee, they have a Keurig coffee machine to use for free. Not to mention, the waiting room chairs are pretty comfortable. I highly recommend choosing this Midas if your car needs some work. read more

When the Midas at the Bergen Towne Center closed, we decided to try the Route 17 location for basic brake service, since we were satisfied with the service at the closed shop. For days afterward, a tapping sound in the rear of the car got progressively louder. We left the car at the Route 17 Midas on a Friday night to inspect the tapping sound, as we were instructed to do, and we'd need the car back no later than Monday morning. Saturday afternoon we get a call: no time to look at our car, so bring it to Midas on 46 in Wayne since they're open on Sunday. We cancel our Saturday plans and go to Wayne, where they promptly inspect the car and inform us that the "brake kit" was left off, hence the tapping sound. The shop manager even offered to call the Paramus shop for us. We called, and what a rotten attitude we got from the Route 17 shop owner. He said it was one of his employees that wrongly advised us to go to Wayne, and we shouldn't have listened to him. We were suppose to know this? A customer shouldn't have to deal with such nasty, defensive customer service when they were the ones who screwed up. Midas should be able to do a brake job with their eyes closed. If you messed it up, at least fix it without a hassle and a bad attitude. read more

My girlfriend and I both brought our cars there to have the oil changed and the tires rotated after 8,000 miles. Long story short, they never rotated our tires and now my girlfriend needs to purchase 2 new tires. I called Midas to let them know they never rotated our tires and the shyster tells me they only rotate the tires if they need to be rotated. News for ya, after 8,000 miles - they were long overdue to be rotated, that's why we went there in the first place! Never going to Midas on Rt. 4 ever again! Or any Midas for that matter... negative 5 stars for the shady bastard. read more

Wow. I had 4 new tires installed. So far so good. Price was decent. 3 months later I get a nail in the tire. Bring it back to midas and they have to order a new tire. They are run flats. Give them the ok to order and install. 2 house later I get a call back. They cant take the wheel off because the lick nut is stripped. I go to pickup the car and tell them that nobody has touched the wheels on my car since they installed the tires. The manager then tells me I had a service 2 weeks ago and the service center probably rotated the tires and messed up the wheel nut. I pull up the service receipt and it clearly says it's just an oil change. The manager tells me after proving nothing was done by anybody on my car that requires a wheel nut removal, that I have to bring it to BMW to fix. Offered nothing.to me to try and fix the issue they causes. Sloppy work. I am now sat at BMW who are replacing the tire and taking a lot.of effort getting the wheel nuts off the car. The BMW tech said " they really messed up your lock nuts and not.qualified to change a tire. All in the BMW dealership was 10 bucks more than what Midas quotes me, they fixed the mess midas created and even washed my car. I had been using paramus Midas for years on my various cars for breaks, tires etc but will never go again. I recommend you think itwice about this place. They dont stand by their work and take no responsibility for the.poor work. Go cheap on the tires but dont come.back after we screw you over. The manager is the worst. Cocky attitude and didnt care about the predicament he put me in. Dont use this place. They are not qualified to put air.in a tire let alone changing.your breaks. read more

Our 5-year old battery was failing. The day prior to bringing our vehicle into this Midas, it had to be jump started. I was greeted immediately upon entering the shop's office, and our vehicle was inspected within 10 minutes of my arrival. As I suspected, the battery needed to be replaced. However, I was shocked when the service advisor gave me an estimate. I'd researched batteries on line; the price I was quoted by Midas seemed quite high to me. I was told the batteries they use are "OEM," thus the high price. Despite my skepticism, I authorized the work. After the vehicle was returned to me (at the promised time) I discovered that the installed battery had been purchased from Autopart International. The price I was charged was at least 50%-75% higher than the suggested retail price of every other major manufacturer's comparable battery. The battery they replaced had been purchased from the same Midas five (5) years prior for $200 less than what I was charged for this new battery (and both batteries were made by the same manufacturer). Additionally, the Autopart International website indicates that their batteries come with a full 2-year replacement warranty. The Midas shop told me that the battery comes with only an 18 month replacement warranty. I'm thinking about calling my credit card company and placing a dispute hold on the charge until I get a chance to speak to the manager at Midas to get an explanation of the circumstances. At this point, I never plan to take any of my vehicles back there again. I'd been a loyal customer there for almost 30 years. What a shame. read more

The worst place you could ever go for an oil change. I go in for a tire rotation and oil change. you figure, what 45 minutes at the most right, nope hour and a half. Then get told my tires dont need rotating, do it anyway i say the mechanic throughs a tempertantuirm and the manage is sitting there patting him on the back begging for him to do it. im sitting there watching through the giant window mind you. he takes off and put the tires right back from where he just took them off. he goes to rotate the side im watching from breaks the nut. now i need to install a new lug nut. He cant even do it alone the manager calls over another guy. He explains to me that breaking the nut is the only option. I go in for a thirty minute oil change and tire rotation walkout with a new car repair.avoid this place at all costs read more
