I went to Midas to get a tire patched after finding two nails. While my car was in the garage, I was monitoring it through my car's cameras. I noticed the garage door was closed during the service, which made it harder to see what was happening. From my experience, simple tire work like a patch can often be done with the garage open, so this stood out to me. During the service, the staff seemed uncomfortable with me observing. Once I mentioned that I could see what was happening through my car's cameras, they stopped working on my car and returned it to me without completing the repair--even though I never asked to leave. The situation felt unusual and made me uncomfortable, so I'm sharing this for others to be aware and make their own decisions. read more

Kedar Hall is one of the best! My Fiat 500X has been erratic for the last few months with the heat. It actually shut down less than a month ago and the mechanic I took it to replaced the radiator inlet tube and refilled the coolant but after a charge of $721 didn't tell me what happened or what was wrong with my car. My thermostat read high today and ai thought ai needed a coolant flush and when he asked me about my car. I told him it makes weird sounds today and show him the photo I added here with my thermostat level running full. Before he did the coolant flush he check my coolant reservoir pressure and showed me that it was leaking severely which is what had caused all the previous problems. For this $47 test opposed to the $169.99 coolant pressure I was seeking, he showed me that I need to replace the coolant exterior. He could have charged me $169.99 and performed the coolant flush, but found the problem that 2 other mechanics couldn't find. The customer before me had issues with his car and Kedar was able to help him see that his struts needed to be replaced. He helped the woman who came after me find & replace the tire she needed. Kedar is honest, efficient & affordable. My car wouldn't start and I had it towed a mechanic who told me that I probably need a new engine. I immediately then had it towed here. Kedar & Ed did their due diligence and fueled the engine and started it. Kept testing it and learned that the reason car was struggling to start was because an air pocket where the fuel fires up to ignite the engine had ice formed in it due to the extreme cold the night before. They got the engine running again and taught me that this was now an environment issue my car may face and how to overcome this issue if it arose again by pouring either starter or brake fluid into a certain tube and showed me exactly how to do read more

I recommend avoiding this firm. I made two visits far out of my way to correct an emission system leak. By its own admission, the staff is technically incompetent, under-equipped, unapologetic, and casually indifferent to my sincere desire to desire to do business. On may 31st i went to midas on route 17 Paramus for a oil change with a $ 29.99 coupon for my 2011 subaru forester I was told the coupon doesn't apply to my car and I had to pay $ 115.00 for the oil change This place is a ripoff or the manager is incompetent If you want to make things right give me a free oil change read more

I recently visited Midas for a diagnostic check. They told me my brakes were completely worn out, and in really bad shape, I needed a new master cylinder, and my battery was almost dead. They gave me a 3K+ estimate. I decided to pass and drive out of the way to the dealership. If I had to fork over 3K, I rather pay the dealership for OEM parts. At the dealership, they ran their diagnostics. I was told the battery and master cylinder were fine, and while I did need new brakes, it wasn't as bad as Midas claimed. The dealership quoted me half the price Midas was trying to charge. Just be careful with this location. read more

Not only do I recommend the shop to handful of people a week. I also bring my own vehicle there, Kadar, and Poohran are incredibly knowledgeable. They will take the time to explain to the customer not only what they need but what can wait. The shop is the definition of whatever shop should be. On July 1 I brought my 2012 Subaru to Midas at 500 State Highway 17 in Paramus NJ to fix a rattling noise coming from the exhaust and to take care of a few other items. I was quoted $4,024.92 to replace two catalytic converters, oxygen sensors, exhaust hardware and the muffler which was under warranty. I declined the work because the costs was far more than I estimated. I took the car to my local garage in Allendale NJ for a 2nd opinion and they replaced the muffler for a cost of $202.50. The car's exhaust is very quiet and there was nothing wrong with my catalytic converters. I bring my car back to Midas and informed the owner that the cost to fix my car was $202.50, and not the $4,024.92 that they quoted. I requested that they reimburse me for the $202.50 muffler that was under the Midas warranty - and they refused. I offered to the owner that he can put my car on a lift and see the work that was done by my garage - but he was not interested. To be clear, I stated to the owner that in order for me to receive the free muffler under warranty - I would have to spend the $4,024.92 that was quoted and he said yes. There are words that describe this type of business practice, and I want to caution anyone who is contemplating doing business with this particular Midas shop - to do your homework read more

I made an online appointment to get a headlight replaced in my 2003 Corolla, as well as an oil change. After getting a look at the car, they explained that there'd be a labor charge because getting to the bulb meant pulling out the battery (which I'd already known, hence paying someone else to do it), and they recommended (but didn't push) new front tires for the winter. Everything was done well and efficiently and explained to me, with no surprise additions or costs. Great job, guys! read more

I have already submitted my comments through Midas' website directly and did not receive any response. It was not until after I issued a complaint through the Better Business Bureau that I was able to speak to the branch manager who informed me that I should have stayed on site for the full 4 hours it took to get my oil changed, at which point I could have asked to see the alleged oil leak. Not sure who has that much free time to spend their Saturday sitting at a Midas, but I sure don't. read more

Went to get my brakes and rotors replaced and dropped off my car with my husband and drove home. Got a called for a quote that seemed crazy high- when I stated my concern they immediately deducted $100- seemed a little shady ..... I called another auto place for a quote--- $450 cheaper!!!!! As a RN coming into the area to help out at a bad situation in a local nursing home, I was hopeful that this Midas would treat me fairly when my starter died. Could have towed to dealership for estimated $650 repair, but Sean the manager seemed honest and warm...right up until the $1150 bill was presented, then he was silent and would not look me in the eye when I objected. I know it's a Midas and that it's just supposed to be for basic repairs, but this Midas is actually really good. I've been bringing my cars here for over 10 years now and they have always provided good service. I appreciate that they take the time to explain things and give me the option to do the repair or not. I am blown away by the service here! After mom and pop oil change place said they couldn't help me due to a stripped drain plug, and to add insult to injury my check engine light came on, Midas made it all better. I'm cynical toward dealers and chains but they were very cost-friendly and they even called the dealer for me to check my warranty and price shop. Who else does that?! Now I have a brand new catalytic converter and O2 sensors (whatever that means) for half the cost of what the dealer would charge and the same cost of my mom & pop mechanic. I called for an appointment and got one the next day. Had an oil change and tire rotation. They had coupons and were friendly and did the work quickly while I waited. It is a busy place but they work efficiently and seemed honest and genuine. Jerry, the manager was great to deal with and I plan on suggesting the place to my neighbors and friends. Its hard to find an honest shop that doesnt push extra repairs (un-needed) but I feel as though this could be my neighborhood place. read more

h Went to this Midas for the first time for a new exhaust system on an old car. I had been to my normal very reliable repair shop first and after giving me an estimate, they suggested that a shop that specialized in exhaust systems might be able to do the job for less than they could. So I found this Midas, not mentioning I had been to a previous shop, and they confirmed everything my previous shop told me. They let me look under the car and pointed out the several spots of failure which were pretty obvious. They did give me a lower price than my normal shop and I let them repair it. When I picked it up, the finished job was exactly as estimated and Tod and Sean were very courteous when I asked them to bring my car back on the lift so I could see the finished job. I am very satisfied with this new experience. read more

Made an appointment for 12:30. Arrived on time, and then waited over an hour for them to even look at my car. After that... oh big problems. Gotta spend a lot. Should've left then. Instead I said go ahead then waited another hour and a half for the 1 hour of work they predicted. And then I find they pad the bill further with something they call "shop supplies." That's "rags and other things around the shop we use." Right. If you want to wait a long time and get ripped off go here. If not.... go anyplace else. read more

The minute I walked through the door Edy could tell that I needed help. He acknowledged me while he was finishing up with another customer and as soon as he was done, asked how he could help. I explained that I had a screw in my tire & he reassured me they could fix it right away. The mechanic brought my car in & within a minute popped into the waiting area to tell Edy that he found the issue and could fix it! I've never walked into a mechanic and felt so welcome and treated like family. The team at Midas Paramus is fantastic! I highly recommend heading there the next time you need to service your car! Like many of you I'm not a fan of the dealer, not to mention the place I bought my car from closed down a month after I bought my car...go figure! So here I am left without a mechanic, and all the dealer's around are a hassle to get to. Friend of mine told me about his experience at Midas and so I figured I'd give them a shot. Not to mention I can kill time at Home Depot and buy unnecessary things while they work on my car! Dropped it off early in the morning before work to have them check the breaks. Got a phone call a few hours later stating the price which was lower than I had estimated. They were honest about rotor wear and pads and obviously I knew about the squeak in the brake...hence my visit! An hour later I get another phone call that they had misquoted me because there was an issue with the rotor and that it would be within my best interest to have it fixed. It's my brakes, I don't really mess around with them and since they were al original parts on a three year old car I figured why not. Very nice and friendly people helped me out, I would have given them 5 stars but my brakes started squeaking the next morning and I had to go back. All in all not a bad experience! read more

Great customer service and amazing to repeat customers. I love that they will show you an issue before fixing it! I also love the oil change coupon that allows you to get an oil change and a full car check for just under $30 after tax.
