I was looking for a good place to get my brakes done. I got a recommendation to Midas and I decided to go to their Poway location. Drew was awesome and a pleasure to work with. Domingo the mechanic was also great. They were both honest and to the point. They didn't try to up sell me like Pepboys does. One thing I didn't mention is that I live in the far eastside of Escondido as you get into Valley Center, but it was worth the drive. I definitely recommend them to others. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars I would! Before I moved I would never take my car to mechanic shops but this place definitely gained my trust the minute my car entered their shop. Every experience I had was great, the employees and manager are all awesome at what they do. Had issues with my breaks and rotors and they immediately found the problem and were able to fix it and at a great price! Surprised by much of the negativity here. I have been taking my family's cars to this shop for years ( 4 cars total) and only once was I less than 100% pleased, and they fixed that situation. Adrain seems to be a very good mechanic and Will knows what he is talking about. They have gone out of their way many times to get me a ride to work, find the lowest price on parts, etc. Also, they wash your windows and vacuum the car, etc., just like Jiffy Lube does when you get your oil changed, but they are less expensive and usually faster. read more

I went here for a muffler replacement. After it was finished i was driving on the I5 when the whole muffler system fell off. Several cars had to initiate emergency maneuvers to avoid it but it eventually hit one car. I took it back (with the piece that had fallen off). They began to reattach it but when i came to inspect their work i noticed one of the workers was drinking beer with one hand while welding with the other. When they supposedly finished..the muffler system had multiple holes and it was hanging on by just 2 linkages. Rather than risk another accident i took the car over to another shop and had them redo the whole thing. This place is beyond a joke and the staff and management are plain criminals. read more

My car needed a repair that I though was outside of their capabilities. However, they were able to replace my power steering pump. It was not cheap, but it was less expensive than having it done at the dealership. Additionally, the work was done 2 days sooner than I was quoted which was great. Too bad, since I was really enjoying my rental. The manager was really nice and communicated well what was going on with my car. read more

I would go to this place again. There were good things and bad things I found. The bad: The person at the desk could have given a better estimate of the time that it would take to get a money estimate. I ended up waiting 3 hours for an oil change plus some brake issues before being told that it would take a few more hours to get to my car and fix it. The good: The mechanics did get to my car and fixed it satisfactorily. It did seem like my brake issue was a serious problem that needed fixing right away. I am glad I didn't have to wait another day to have it fixed. They did a good job and my car seemed to be running smoother after. They were short-staffed and hence the person who should have been at the desk had to work on the cars. They were very tired by the end of the day (they didn't say this), but still got around to everyone's car. I was very happy with the customer service by the end. I thought they did a good job overall. read more

My experience here has been awesome both times. The first time I came in thinking I needed something and Rusty calmed me down and told me that I needed absolutely nothing. It wasn't time for a tune up. My oil was fine. And that it was all good. It felt weird that he didn't tried to sell me anything as was just HONEST. I came in today and I needed my back lights looked at because when I hit the breaks they weren't coming on. I called ahead and he told me it was a good time to come in. Again, he took very good care of me and didn't try and up sell me. It's so refreshing. I love it here. I feel safe. read more

They said to come in after work and they took care of everything right away. Was a huge relief to get this taken care of easily-hardly any wait time. I came and dropped my Audi off at this location because I had a flat tire. I did not buy my tires here and when I dropped off the car the bay's were all full and the service writer told me he would try to squeeze me in if I could leave my car for an hour or so... When I returned he handed me he keys and told me I was good to go. This type of customer service is hard to find especially when this was my first experience at this location. They repaired my tire for free and with quick and friendly service even tho they were slammed. I would highly recommend this Midas to anyone. read more

This review is long overdue. About 9 months ago I was in a horrible accident. My car was totalled and taken to a tow shop down the street from Midus. I wasn't sure how severe the damage was so I got it towed to Midas and they were very helpful and friendly. They quickly gave me an estimate on how much it would cost to fix. They also recommended someone who may want to buy my car for scraps. I was stuck in a bind because I did not have money to fix it so they let me store my car there for 2 days. Normally, mechanics or auto shops don't try to help you or store your car. I was amazed at their customer service and professionalism. I unfortunately did not receive any services from them yet they continued to treat me as a valued customer. Thanks again Midas! Even though I live in Lakeside, if I have any car troubles I would prefer to drive to Poway to see them because I know they are honorable. read more

I really only go on yelp when a business does a fantastic job or a horrible job. Let me tell you that Midas on Poway road and their staff, especially the Mgr. Drew, are top notch. I needed work on two of my cars in the last 3 weeks. I always shop around for the best price for repairs. I called 4 different shops in Poway and both times Midas had the best price. I was impressed with the knowledge of the mechanical issues and that they were able to fix the cars quickly. They are open on Sundays, which is amazing. The shop is clean and the employees are friendly and professional. I wish I knew about the Midas shop sooner. I always thought of them as a brake shop only, but now know they are a full service garage. I highly recommend this shop. If you want the best price and service, go to Midas Poway. From now on I will only bring my cars to Midas. read more

Worst place I have ever been to!, I paid $500 for a replacement part and labor, I had to wait 1hr 15min for them to START the work on my car, the whole time I was waiting they did 5 oil changes and 2 routine maintenance jobs, I was told their was one person working and my car would be done within the next hour!, in all it took 2hrs to change a power steering pump!?? Meanwhile the $40 oil changes are flying out the door left and right, I guess I came to the wrong mechanic shop. read more

I took my car in for new brake pads. After their courtesy inspection, they forgot to screw on the radiator cap which resulted to over-heating of my engine and coolant splashed all over my engine. I didn't realize this until after I have driven about 100 miles on the freeway when smoke/steam vapor began to appear from underneath my hood. I highly recommend NOT to take your car there. read more

I had a great experience here. My car started making a horrific sound one day at noon. I called Midas and they scheduled me first thing the next morning. They diagnosed the problem, showed me that my brake pads were essentially gone, did the work and I was on my way in under 90 minutes. They were very nice; the waiting area was clean and stocked with water, coffee, magazines and crossword puzzles! I'll be back should the need arise. read more

I brought in my Chevy equinox with a broken ac unit. They did try to sell an 85 dollar inspection for the unit, I'd recommend opting out of this service and just get an AC recharge done here. This place offered a very good price of $51 dollars for an evac and recharge. This service was on a special so do call ahead and check to make sure they're offering this service at this price. I did receive prompt service and they did have proper tools for the job (a yellowjacket ac machine). They were able to fix my problem so I'd recommend this place but do check to see if they have any specials. read more

Not only did these guys do an outstanding job doing the front brakes on my Mini Cooper, they even helped me out when I did the back ones and my Amazon ordered pads disintegrated! Of all the days we just had to get a flat tire! It was a rainy day in San Diego and we were miles away from home. The warning light came on suddenly and said that our left rear tire was losing air. Thankfully, we were able to pull in to a gas station at the next freeway exit. Hubby replaced the flat with our spare....turns out that a piece of metal punctured our tire. The attendant at the gas station said that there was a tire place that was open the next exit over. We Googled for a tire repair place and Midas came up. While there were a couple more tire repair places open, we decided to go to Midas. When we got there, Tim greeted us and we told him that we had a flat that needed some attention. It was definitely an easy fix and Tim and his team took their time to ensure that everything was safe, secure, and ready to go! The best part of it was, the repair was FREE!! I came in for an alignment and set of tires several weeks ago. Good service and very competitive price that beat the other local tire stores on the exact same brand/model/size. And I didn't feel pressured into a bunch of add-ons. Just one star off for the process taking quite a bit longer than promised. Overall I plan to return in the future. read more

Took our 3 cars in for work which they did do for less than Toyota would have done it. They were very friendly and explained everything. I am giving them 2 stars though because when my son took his car in they told him an axle boot was torn and needed replacing immediately. He declined and then when I went in to take it back to them to have the work done, I asked if they would please save me the torn boot to inspect after the repair. I just got a call and the boot was not torn and does not need replacing. Makes me very nervous to take any cars there again and I am glad I asked for the "damaged boot" before they did the unnecessary repair at $400+. read more

I took my daughter's car to Midas because the car brakes felt different (her words: feels like I am trying to stop a train - so I have to slow down and stop earlier than other cars) and her car felt like an off balance tank. I figured - I would get an oil change and a brake inspection. I am glad I took it in - her front brake pads were worn out, her rear brake pads were the WRONG brake pads, the rear drums were not sitting right (should have seized) and were being damged from the wrong break pads, the brake fluid was old-old-old, and her left rear shock was bent 30% degrees (rusted and covered in dents (dents were rusted too)). The rear brake pads were cracked, buckled, 1" size chunks missing - you could see where the brake pad was making metal on metal contact damaging other parts of car. The fantastic guy Mark called me - showed me everything and provided me a quote - which included a laundry list of new brake parts (premium brakes not the standard ones that squeal) and a new shock, fixing the drums, new fluid, the oil change and of course labor. He started applying tons of discounts and brought the total down to $702 - I am not sure if this a rip-off but my daughter's safety is worth it. I left the car overnight (my choice) - and when I got a call the next morning to pick the car up - Mark stated they replaced the right rear shock at no additional cost. It was not quoted originally and didn't appear damaged but since a teenager drives the car... At this point, my bill could have been $1200+ with all parts and labor - I still only paid $702 and got a life time warranty! My daughter is much safer - she says her car rides alot smoother (not a tank anymore) and it no longer feels like she is trying to stop a train. Thank you Midas & Mark! read more
