This used to be my go to auto shop, but I will not be returning here after today's visit. I stopped in today for an oil change which I had a coupon for, and was told they no longer do those and the man at the front desk said he didn't know why they still send those out. I was not familiar with this guy, they used to have another guy at the front desk so I reluctantly accepted that, and paid full price for my oil change. I then let him know my front right blinker was out and asked if they could change it for me. I had already purchased my bulb at autozone intending to do it myself, but figured I would have them do it while I was there. He then told me that it would cost close to a hundred dollars in labor to change my turn signal bulb...$100 to change one turn signal bulb?!? I can have this done at Walmart automotive for $7.50! The whole visit felt like a rip off and scam for money, and I've lost all trust I had in this shop. Sean and his team at 16th st Midas in Sacramento, were very helpful when I was in a tight financial spot. I realized I needed new brakes when I was about to haul a moving trailer over 300 miles north and my brakes were suddenly very tight and barely working. i went to midas during a midlife crises and asked them what they could do to my 04' Suburban to throttle down my 50 year old "ocd" Brian who is very helpful suggested a slight suspension lift and possibly making the exhaust a little more robust. After hours on Saturday 7:30pm'ish I had a few questions and left a voicemail on the business phone. By 8:00pm the owner Shawn was texting away answering all of my questions!!!! talk about service. We had everything aranged for the following thursday then Monday evening i learned i was off on tuesday so Brian overnighted everything free of shipping and got the bulk of the job done tuesday and a few odds and ends on wednsday. looks and sounds great!!! They also replaced the struts on my daughters 97 Camry and fixed a shimmy in the steering for less than the estimate. This kind of service is hard to find anywhere and i 100% recommend this shop! Had a P0171 reading and went in to Midas and worked with Brian. He was great! They let us know the issue, and my husband decided to try it himself to save us some money. He switched the 02 sensor, and then it started reading 0031 and I took it back in to Midas and worked with Brian again. They looked at it and couldn't find an issue with the sensor, and gave us some suggestions to look into if the light came back on. I will be going back in next week for an oil change for our other car. Love this place! read more

I woke up to a flat tire and panicked of course. Got a spare one in and drove to Midas to fix the bad one. Shawn is the owner and met me with a smile and assured of things to be taken care of. Got in and out in record time. After they finished my oil change, I asked if anyone could help me resolve my license plate issue. It was practically falling off because the plastic that hold it to the bumper had ripped. One of the tech bolted it onto my bumper after checking to make sure I would be okay with that. After dropping my 1969 Pontiac Firebird off with Kurt (shop manager) at Midas for tail light electrical work, hanger tailpipe, exhaust welding repair, he promptly called me with two welding estimates for my consideration and one more extensive, and expensive removal of gas tank or a quicker less expensive way to secure the tail pipe. Kurt told me that the 69 bird would be ready by 5pm that day. Me, not being at home during the day and without my cell phone, I made my second 30min walk to Midas shop He noticed that I am not a good return phone caller because he needed to keep my vehicle over night for receipts of electrical part for tail light repair. The next day either because he felt sorry for my having to walk 30 min again or because he just would like to see the 60 Bird again....he did not charge for any of the services, parts and work performed. My thanks go out to Nick (the manager), John, Courtney and Ulysses for exemplifying great customer service, patience and hospitality. I took my car in for an issue that had been addressed when I first moved to Sacramento in April of 2018. Instead of a large quote, they wanted to check out the code and determine if the issue had resurfaced (accepting the possibility that the repair previously done might need a re-work). If that's all that they did then that would have been great. However, they did a check on car, found an issue, fixed it and the problem appeared to be resolved at no charge. The light came on again and they gladly made room to check the vehicle again. They replaced a part that needed to be replaced on warranty, at no charge. The light came on again and this time, they went through the car with a fine tooth comb, discovered the issue and then test drove the vehicle 12 miles to ensure that the issue had been resolved, at no charge. Most places will charge a huge fee just to look at your car. Well, these folks went beyond great customer service into heavenly service. Nick and John took the time to explain to me what they had examined in the vehicle, Courtney was on top of things and let me know of any pending service that might be needed. Ulysses showed me some hands on stuff that will help me to better steward this vehicle. Everyone was very kind and patient throughout this repair. There was never a hint of condescending attitude. Look, I had some tires put on here a few weeks ago and it was a pretty crappy experience. BUT, the owner, Shawn (great guy) reached out and personally addressed each issue I had while I was there. On top of that, the on-duty manager also tried to rectify things by giving me a free oil change. Because of Shawns customer service, I am more than happy to try this shop again, and I definitely will the next time I need my oil changed. Why not 5 stars? Because I'll see how the oil change goes in a few months. Shawn was awesome and I will see how much it has improved when I come back. Why did I change my review from 1 star to 4? Because Shawn fixed things personally with me, reviewed protocol with his staff, and made proactive changes and provided increased training to staff. And although he offered to refund me in full plus the oil change, we come up with a great "pay it forward" idea that I really appreciated that showed me he's here to not only run a business but genuinely cares about people and is excited to help others. Look, this is probably one of the weirder reviews you've read on yelp. But if the conversations and effort I have seen the owner put forth is any indication, he wants this shop to be the absolute best it can be, and he is willing to work for it. And while my first visit didn't turn out the best, what is better than someone taking your feedback to heart and helping (and showing me) how things are improving?! This was my first time ever taking a car to Midas, a decision that was made after having repeat minimum to below par service from Pep Boys, and after last weekend I think I will start going to Midas more often. The staff is wonderful and honest, they talked in depth about the problems my car had, and they were very accommodating to our requests. I also didn't feel cheated out of hundreds of dollars like I usually felt before going to Midas. The unfortunate thing was that my car was dead as nails and they couldn't fix it without replacing the entire engine. They offered me a few options about fixing the vehicle, but were upfront at how much each endeavor would cost. I eventually decided to buy a new car, but not before they went through the trouble of researching and finding the best and cheapest options for engine replacement they could find. I only paid for the labor they put in to diagnose the vehicle. My car also had to stay there for a few days while I had to figure out a tow, and they were very helpful in holding my car and coordinating with my family while that was figured out. They ended up giving my mom a free oil change and inspection on her AC on her van. read more

I got a note from the new owner, Shawn that he would love a chance to earn my biz back. It took me a while as I moved from down the street to Tahoe Park, but I went back in today. I didnt let them know that last time I was the guy who gave them a bad review. I wanted to see if his word was true. It was for sure. I had a coupon for 27.99 and went in. They were great. Same manager as last time, cool and professional with me and everyone else that walked in behind me. Shawn checked me out easily. The oil change took no time. I was on their free wifi just getting my work done and all of a sudden I am out of there! I actually left my phone on their cool free charging station and had to come back 5 min later and grab it. It's one thing for mistakes to happen, but it's another to handle it poorly. Had a brake inspection on my wife's car, and everything seemed fine, until we went to change the brakes (not at Midas) and couldn't get the lug nuts off, as we think they had been overtightened not to the vehicle specifications and put on dry during inspection. Long story short, we had to have the bearings, lug nuts, and hub replaced at another shop as a result (very costly and time consuming). But this post isn't about whether or not it was a mistake on the part of Midas, it's about how it was handled. When we explained the issue to the owner and why we believed Midas should reimburse for the cost to repair, the store owner immediately went into defense mode. He was extremely rude and unprofessional (in front of other constomers too), told us we are liars, that we were just "after some free money" (this was about righting what was clear to us a wrong), hung up the phone on us, etc. (I could go on). All that was needed was a calm professional conversation where they could have just said why they believed they didn't make an error and that would have been that. There are many different ways this could have been handled without the attitude and defensive aggression. Professionalism can go a long way in making both sides feel heard. Customer service is clearly not something you'll find here, at least not with the store owner. read more

I woke up and saw one of my tires broken on the side. To make things worse I also started seeing tire pressure sign on my dashboard. I totally thought I ruin my tire. I called Midas asking if I can walk in for the tire service. Max was extremely helpful throughout the whole process. He give me a time so that when I come I don't have to wait too long. Lastly at the service center he found out that my car tire was only chipped on the surface. Explain that to me in a non-judgmental way dad it is normal to see low pressure sign on cold weather. They even test it to make sure that the side damages have no holes in them. Max and the team really took care of me. I will be coming back for their A+ customer service. read more

The team at Midas is incredibly gracious and so accommodating. Every time I visit I leave so pleased with the service. Even if I'm swinging by on the way to work for some air in my tires. This last week, I got air, and then later that day ended up getting a flat trying to swerve to miss an object in the road. Noel was so nice to get my in quick that day, they even helped me find a quick tow, so I didn't have to keep waiting on hold with my insurance company. The wait for my tire was unexpectedly long, they apologized profusely and made up for it by discounting labor from my bill! And giving me my next oil change!! Again, incredibly gracious. I was upset for how long it took, but I was dealing with my toddler and no car, and a VERY long wait from delivery guy. I knew it wasn't Noel's fault, or the delivery guys either. I was just annoyed with waiting. I apologized and he apologized, he understood my frustrations. I think that's why I like them so much, they understand the difficulties of being without your car, as a single mother; I depend on my car for my work. I need my car. They work as quickly as they can within their means. I will continue to go to Midas for all my car needs. They're simply wonderful! read more
