I had sent an inquiry for an oil change the evening prior with my desired time. Midas calls me first thing in the morning and said that they can get me in at 11 or 11:30am as long as I can leave my car for a few hours. That's not an appointment if you can't do it at the time your scheduled to come in. I do confirm that I can meander around Midtown for a few hours. He asks me when I want the car back and I reply, "as soon as feasible." He says it'll be done around 4pm. I told him that I was good to wait until 2pm, but 4pm is not reasonable. Goes back to the point where why schedule an appt and they expect you to be there, but they aren't ready for you for hours? Awful communication. Awful experience. Awful front desk guy. I paid a little extra to go to Jiffy Lube and was able to be in and out in 25 minutes. I highly recommend anyone considering Midas for an oil change to do the same. read more

Unsafe Service, False Brake Claims, and Unprofessional Conduct -- Midas 16th Street Sacramento Review: On April 21, 2025, I brought my 2017 Ford Fusion to the Midas on 16th Street in Sacramento for a simple oil change. My brakes had recently been replaced under warranty at Future Ford of Sacramento, and my car was running perfectly when I dropped it off. After the oil change, the manager, Moe Zahriya, told me my car had no brake fluid, a leaking brake line, no rear brakes, and almost worn-out front brakes. He kept my car for over a week and repeatedly texted me from his personal phone, including messages that had nothing to do with the service -- something I found unprofessional and uncomfortable. Based on those alarming claims, I was convinced to pay over $860 in brake repairs, which caused financial strain. Shortly after, the same brake issues returned. I'm now at a different repair shop, having to spend even more money to fix the same problem that Midas claimed they already resolved. When other certified mechanics inspected my car, their findings did not match Midas's claims about the brake condition. I have documentation from both Midas and Future Ford showing that my brakes were properly maintained before this visit. This experience has been extremely disappointing -- between the misleading repair recommendations, financial hardship, and inappropriate personal contact from the manager, I've lost all confidence in this location. I was in the downtown Sacramento area when I discovered I hit a nail on the freeway and there was a small air leak in my tire. It was approaching end of day on a Saturday and I was two-hours from home, so I was a bit worried. After calling a few shops in town, Midas said they could take me immediately. I arrived 10-minutes later and the manager, Moe, quickly inspected my tire and assured they could fix the damage in 10-15 min for $30. I was in-and-out of there in 10 min with a repaired tire and peace of mind. The car was a rental car and Moe even checked if I was eligible for any reimbursement from my rental car company. I made an appt and they charged me $180 to evaluate the issue (which I knew was struts) I went for it because they said the $180 would go towards the repair costs. They came back with a $12k estimate to fix a steering issue that didn't exist. I took it to another mechanic that confirmed that there was nothing wrong with my rack and pinion. I brought my car into this Midas, for one of the "Free Inspections" advertised on the company's website. When I arrived, the manager said it would be around $20.00 for the same inspection. I was a little confused, but didn't argue because it was still a reasonable price. They were supposed to check for an exhaust leak, but didn't find one. When I picked up my car, I explained that I could smell something like exhaust when I was driving it, so the manager double checked the technician's work. He couldn't smell exhaust, but did notice an electrical smell from the alternator like it was buring out. The technician also said the tie rod ends needed to be replaced. Sometime later, I checked for an exhaust leak myself by blowing air up the tail pipe and spraying all the connections with soapy water. Guess what I found? Two exhaust leaks that Midas missed. I had the alternator tested twice since my visit and it came back as normal both times. Over a year and a half later, the laternator is still going strong. The boots on the tie rod ends were cracking, but there were more serious problems happening in the suspension system. Like two worn out front struts they completely missed. The struts were making a slight clunking noise at the time of my visit, which I attributed to tie rod ends based on their feedback. After replacing the tie rod ends, the clunking noise persisted and I discovered the struts are bad. I'm sorry to say, they didn't exactly knock it out of the park during their time at bat. First and foremost I just want to say I was asked to leave a review. I think leaving reviews when you're upset is pointless when you can just chalk things up to a bad experience and call it a day...HOWEVER on three separate occasions the staff members at Midas, more specifically "Moe" asked me to leave a review so here it is. I punctured my tire on Tuesday morning pulling into my work parking lot. I called the closest shop to see if they'd be willing to take my car in while I'm at work, they told me they could. At 8:25 in the morning I take my car to Midas only 7 minutes down the road needing one tire and left with four. Long story short, I thought bringing my car in 8 hours ahead of time meant that it would be done by the time I got off work? Wrong. They had the two tires I requested in stock so I did all the paperwork then suddenly they didn't have them in stock. Instead I'm informed that two different tires were going to be delivered that afternoon for me, I sign , done. Around 3pm while I was at work I get a call letting me know those tires aren't going to be delivered. HOWEVER, FOUR other tires just so happen to be in stock and they can get those specific tires for me for a bit more. Fine, whatever. I receive a text message at work at 4 that the service I requested on my car has now started, I get off work at 4:30. I Uber over there and am immediately asked for my tire key. I honestly thought it was in the trunk but it was sitting right there on my back white interior seats and took me two seconds to find, work can't be started without it right? I sit in the waiting area, ask how long it's going to be till I can go home, I'm told "by the time we close, 5:30" then all of a sudden the two tires I originally requested get there! Staff member Moe asks me what's up with my mood I was a lot friendly earlier? I simply say I'm upset that nothing was started then he insinuates I'm lucky they were able to take my car in the first place, he's also had a long day but he's not complaining and TO BE FAIR he told me the delivery would be there around 3. Midas opens at 7:30 am, the place was incredibly slow and I'M lucky they were able to take my car in, have it finished in 8 hours... AN HOUR after I got off work?? I was never informed of a delivery time for the previous tires that I didn't get either only informed they weren't even going to be delivered only for them to be delivered! I wasn't asked for my tire key prior to my leave and I would have gladly given it if it meant the work could be started on my car sooner! To make up for this experience Moe granted me a FREE air filter to make up for the service, miscommunication and honestly time wasted. Moe also offered to get me a Lyft to be charged to his personal/company account with Midas so that I can go home, take my dog out of her crate then come back alll the way to midtown to get my car. midas did my oil change, which was completely fine. they told me they found my wracking pin for my power steering fluid leaking and that it would cost $4,000. that didn't end up being the problem after taking it to a mechanic. after receiving my car back there was black stains on the door on the inside of my car which i wiped already but just noticed that it was also on the fabric in the car. i don't know if that's normal but i wouldn't want to receive my car with dirty glove marks all over it lol read more

This new management of Midas downtown is only been there for about a year although before the previous owner provided excellent services. I used for significant in june then I called this service for an alternator, which I quoted with ather Midas. Unfortunately, a week later I call them back because my car died. Triple A assistant they told me to get to a closer mechanic that the alternator was not working. and I called this Midas downtown that was the closes one. Moe told me to bring the car and i reminded him about the fee that was supposed to wave. He took over three hours to fix it and he did not told me about the extra time. I mentioned my dog was very ill at home and he keep receiving other clients. I also have my other dog with me there. He showed no empathy not accommodation for me and my dog. Even the mechanic that was fixing my car left for lunch and I was very stuck there not able to go anywhere. I have to call a friend to give the pain medication for my ill dog at home. I reminded him that he was supposed to waive the $170, but he did not want to. He will only fix my car if I agreed to pay, I mentioned that I will do a review and he said that I can leave with my car at that moment he asked, under those circumstances I was forced to signed the extra fee. I left and my car was very bad, could not do left turns, and did significan noise due to belts not placed correctly. I was not able to drive it and came back the next monday. He had it all day, i was not able to work, he fixed and I asked him to waive the $170, he said that he will listen the recordings, and after a while he said that he never mentioned any fee waive... I asked him to listen to this recordings because I was sure he told me that but he did not want to. overall lack of good service, no empathy, not working with the clients. Incredibly disappointed and angry at how my daughter was treated today, 8/19/2025, when she went into the Midas located at 431 16th Street for an oil change. She had a coupon for a $34.99 Synthetic Blend oil change. She was told that her car was "due" for a full synthetic oil change AND an additive(s) which would bring the price to over $180. What? The manufacture does not call for any additives as part of regular maintenance. The car wasn't due for anything but a plain oil change. The service rep was trying to pressure my daughter to buy something she didn't need and didn't ask for, taking advantage of a young female who doesn't know better. Typical bait and switch tactics. She called me and I told her to leave immediately. What kind of horrible company does that? Midas apparently. We will never consider Midas again for any automotive service. Follow up review: After being quoted $1300 to repair the Midas brakes and rotors that were less than 5k miles old, I took it to another shop. The new shop confirmed my suspicion that the rear brakes were completely misaligned. The misalignment caused the front brakes to do more work and become warped, which was causing the shaking. They said they could machine the front brakes flat again and just fix the alignment of the rear drums. No part actually need replacement. Total cost $180. Midas failed to install my brakes correctly, then lied to my face about the issue THEY created and tried to get me to pay $1,300 for their mistake. I can't overstate how crooked this place is. I've literally never made a yelp review before and this place is so bad I'm leaving 2. Stay away! read more

Holy customer service, Batman! Mo was the absolute BEST. I dropped my car off for a diagnostic since the check engine light was on... While the phone call I received was less than stellar news (turns out I need a new engine!), Moe had taken the initiative to reach out to the dealership and see if my car was still under warranty. Surprise!! It was!! For this single mama, the small and simple act of kindness and forethought literally changed the trajectory of my year. As a woman , I really appreciate the experience I had today with this location. Jared is awesome. We have been trying to get an oil change for a while and every time we get a quote over the phone from a location we drive to the location and all the sudden they start adding extra charges and not accepting their own coupons and it's been rather discouraging. We called this location and we spoke to Jared and he told us the oil change will be $150 for a 2019 Camaro SS. Of course I was nervous that the same thing was going to happen to me that I was going to get there and they were going to say that that's not the actual price that it's way more however, that did not happen. Not only did Jared not increase the price that he quoted me over the phone but he also added a $20 coupon to our total so I ended up paying $130. In addition to that they put air in our tires and gave us washer fluid all inclusive. Upon check out, Jared gave me coupons and told me about more coupons on the website. To update my previous review, the owner reached out after I posted this review to apologize and to offer a refund for the 3.99% ($14.53) "convenience" fee. The owner's message said that it was the first and last day of this policy. The owner's wife also reached out to say, "With COVID, staffing challenges, and skyrocketing prices on everything running this business has been near impossible. We implemented the processing fee instead of increasing other costs, as we can directly pass the cash savings to our customers." I understand that it's getting more expensive to run a business, but it's also getting more expensive to be a customer. The total cost of being a customer of this business should be disclosed in an honest, forthcoming manner so customers can be informed, and properly choose which businesses they want to patronize. If the prices of services must be increased, then they must be increased, but it should not be done in a way that falsely advertises a lower prices and then hits you later via a surprise fee once you're no longer in a position to take your business elsewhere. I also spoke with the Bureau of Automotive Repair who confirmed that yes, a business must disclose these fees properly by including them in the quoted cost of services, not surprising customers at the point of sale. Ultimately, I'm glad that the business reached out in good faith to refund me for their fee to use a card as payment. read more

You'll notice that many of the recent reviews of Midtown Midas (2024) have been relatively negative. This has happened since the change in management about a year or so ago. I used to take both our cars here and was quite satisfied. However, my recent experiences this last year with them have not been good. They tried to sell me work I know I don't need and asked for $125 to simply check an engine light. I also had to leave my car overnight for a simple oil change even though I had brought it in that morning with an appointment. They've lost me as a customer. read more

My wife took her car there for an oil change and they did not re-seat some of the air filter lines so we took it back for them to do that. The employee pulled it into the shop to do so and I asked him to only do that and to not do anything else. After he seemed to reseat the part, he then got into the car and gave it the gas. I had to stop him even though I already asked him to not do that. So then he gave the car back, but wait there's more. I decided to check the work and make sure it was reseated, and he broke the clip at the top of the part in doing so. And tried to give it back without telling me, then accused me of being rude when I caught him trying to be slick. His coworker also joined in the lying after he watched him break the part. Was sent here for an insurance fix by caliber collision. the catalytic converters were stolen off my truck. my original 3 inch cats were replaced with 2 inch and a sub par exhaust "fix" was used to adapt the 3 inch to 2 inch portions. Had smog test at Smog and Go which failed for emission leaks, they suggested Midas or SpeeDee for diagnostics and possible repair. I called SpeeDee and they wanted to charge $150 for a diagnostic and Midas charge was $89. I did replace the gas cap and drove 100 miles per Acura service department the codes did not reset. So, decided to go to Midas. Chris performed smoke test and found no emission leak, he reset the codes and suggested I perform the 'drive cycle pattern' per owner's manual which I did. Our family was from out of town visiting Midtown Sacramento. The morning after we arrived we noticed our car making some weird sounds that it had never made before. Thankfully, a Midas location was close by, so we got it checked. The technician informed us that someone tried to steal our Catalytic Converter and he says they deal with this type of theft about 5 times a week. Miraculously, although the thief didn't prevail, they majorly damaged the pipes around the Catalytic Converter and we still needed a replacement and welding around the parts. Midas Midtown finished the job in a timely manner. When we picked it up, they said the car wasn't ready yet and suggested changing the spark plugs. On a time crunch headed back home, we waited for another hour or so. Thankfully, they didn't charge us for the spark plugs. When we arrived home, we noticed a weird and nauseous smell out of the car. When we looked under, we noticed that there was a big slit (an inch or so) that wasn't welded shut. We drove about 450 miles from Sacramento and back home with a big slit on the pipe not knowing what damage this has done to our car. We took it again to a nearby Midas location and the technician was able to weld it shut, finally. The parts and welding from Midas Midtown charged us $2,770.89 (parts & labor). Thankfully, we were able to offset some of the costs through our insurance. Our local Midas didn't charge us anything and informed us that there is NO way these parts and labor would ever cost this high, even if they replaced it with the best of the best parts. A job like this he says would only cost $1,300 - $1,500 at the most and plus a $100 discount (which we never got) on a Catalytic Converter job over $1800. We brought our vehicle in a few months ago to have them look into a rattling noise beneath the car. Turns out the exhaust pipe had become dislodged from the manufacturer's weld. Midas took care of the weld in a short time for a small fee. Less than a week later, the rattle started again, so we took it back. The manager took our car in and found their weld did not hold. He took car of the weld himself and got us back on the road in no time! Two months later, we can hear the rattling again. We set up an appointment, talked to the manager and explained what we were hearing and our concern it may be the same weld. Manager follows up and informs us their weld held strong- the manufacturer weld and a bracket had come undone in other places next to their weld. Midas took care of it for us and gave us a recommendation for future issues related to any exhaust welds on our vehicle. All in all, the manager at Midas went above and beyond to take care of us. read more

I scheduled an appointment here for an oil change and my tire pressure light was also on so I asked them to check the tires. I was on time for my appointment and it still took 2.5 hours! I asked about my tires and was told they were pretty good and something must be wrong with my sensor. A week later the tire pressure light was still on so I dropped in at a Les Schwab in Citrus Heights.
