Went in to get an alignment they only did the toe on the alignment told me I would have to pay another 90 to get the caste and camber. So I paid 90 bucks for nothing then. Complete rip off. If I could give zero stars I would. I came in to get a brake evaluation on my truck. The service started out great but quickly went south. I came in at 230 and was told my evaluation would take about 30-45 minutes. They started at 250 and at 5pm I was able to check out. The quote I was given for a simple brake job was two- three times the amount of two of local shops. Between the poor communication and lousy technicians, I will never come to a Midas again. I took my voltswagon in because the engine light was on. I decided to go to this place since they are open on the weekends. I was disappointed in the costumer service. I always had to be the first to call to get an update on my car. I had an appointment and at 9am and dropped it off but they didn't look at it until a day later which I then had to call again to see the status. They claimed my phone number wasn't working but I had no issues with my phone and it worked fine following that day. They had my car for 5 days while I paid for a rental car out of pocket and they ordered parts and I had to bring it back to have them fix it. Then on my way home a new light on my dash pops up and then my engine light cane back on for the problem I just paid $650 to fix. I had to bring it back in and they checked it and said they fixed the problem but the lights came back on!!! Total nightmare! Then I had to bring it back in and they had it for 2 more days to fix the problem at that time they covered the charges for the new part they should of replaced in the first place apparently. It was a very frustrating overall experience to say the least. And very expensive with the rental car expense along with Lyft rides to and from work and to Midas to pick up and drop off my car 4 different times. ‍ read more

If I could give it a rating lower than this I would. There is a whole list of problems now due to the work done by this establishment. I have a 97 civic which I have had for the last 10 years and have taken very good care of. I have always replaced hoses and done the work necessary to keep my car in good condition. With that being said I realize it is an older vehicle. I took my car in because of rattling issues which turned out to be the rack and pinion and a check engine light that was found to be the intake sensor. This was the first visit and I was quoted a price in the range of $1,700. Which the assured me would get me back on the road safely and as cost effectively as possible. Got the work done. Less then 48 hrs later I realize my cruise control doesn't work and neither does the horn. I call tell them the issue and they tell me to bring it back and I would be taken care of. They pull the car apart again and find that the person who had performed the repair sliced some wires that were responsible for the proper function of the issues. They say they can get the part within an hour and have the car back to me by the end of the day. It took two days, and I was the one that had to call them to find out what was going on with my car and why it was taking so long. They told me the wrong part was delivered and that it would be there first thing in the morning and I would have my car back to me by mid afternoon. False! They took until they closed and didn't call to tell me it was done, so once again I called. "Ohh yeah, your car is done but we are about to close are you on your way?" What? No i'm not on my way cause you never told me my car was ready. I ask them to leave the car keys somewhere discreet and to lock the doors of my car. They took that as lock the keys in the car. I have a friend drive me to my car which is locked with the keys inside! No one waited to see that those requests were followed and I am on day three without my car. I call first thing in the morning next day asking what the deal was and why my keys were locked in the car. The manager apologizes and proceeds to blame someone else in the shop for the mix up. I proceed to walk to the store location to pick up my car from them. When I get there, fuming of course, the shop manager proceeds to give me back handed apologies about the situation saying that it's a minor inconvenience and says that someone would be there within the hour to pop the lock of my car so I can finally get the keys and my car. I decline his service call AAA and they were there in 15min to unlock my car. I have the car back now for less than 4 months and guess what happens again? You guessed it, check engine light and the rack and pinion are bad. When I go in this time I get an oil change and tell them the issues, they say that the O2 sensor is now bad and so is the speed sensor, as well as the rack an pinion. Which they say is under warranty but not the work to do so........This makes absolutely no sense. But it still gets better. After that diagnosis and a refusal on my part to pay them again for more maintenance I leave only to find now that my ABS light comes on and off when it wants or when I engage the brake. The tachometer goes up and down when you brake and have the turn signal on. The speedometer simply stopped working as well as the radio. Windows are near dead as well as the dome light, and the cruise control doesn't work. I am beyond frustrated by this point but why risk taking it somewhere else when they are responsible for the work they did and the resulting problems. Took it back in today at 7:30 they run diagnosis and have me come to the back with them again where they proceed to tell me that it's the alternator, which I just had replaced within less then a year. And they say that it is just a coincidence that this issue is coming up and was aware of it when I brought it in the day before but just forgot to mention it to me. This is absolutely unacceptable. I told them to take their hands off and or out of my car, because I refuse to pay them anymore money to make my car less safe. I have filled a complaint with the main office and hope to get this resolved quickly and if you are reading this I would highly suggest that you not take your car to this particular establishment. The main point of this is that the work that I paid for was not done properly and when I requested that that work be done correctly I was met with and outstretched hand that demanded more money to do the right thing. I now have a car that is unreliable and very unsafe to drive by my standards and I would assume by most auto technicians standards, but they were willing to let me walk out the door to potentially hurt my self and or others with an unsafe car. This is their Midas touch and it is one that I would HIGHLY recommend against!! read more

Don't use them for anything else but oil change. Eight and a half hours for a front brake job for new pads and minor rotor finish. One lie after another. Mechanics with bad attitudes that leave deep embedded grease stains on paint by door release and I have serious doubt's about their mechanical ability. Lavelle was nice but that only goes so far after the fourth hour into a two hour basic front brake job which exceeded eight hours. It was one excuse after another. I've previously been to this location and have had good experiences. In fact, I've posted an excellent review on them before. However, today I felt ripped off and had to share. They wanted to charge me $150 for changing a headlight. They said it was not a simple job. I went to another business (Evans Tires, love them!) and they had it done within minutes of me buying the part. No extra fees charged. This Midas location has not only gave me amazing costumer service once, but twice now - in this day and age that is unheard of! Upon first pulling in, my splash guard on the bottom of my car had come loose thanks to the potholes around San Diego and they fixed it for free, giving me free fasteners and repairing it quickly. This second time I came back for an oil change and yet again, great costumer service! There were construction crews outside messing with Midas' telephone/cable wires so when it came time to pay their credit card machine wasn't working - the gentlemen at the front told me I could leave and we could settle up later given the inconvenience; he doesn't know me from Adam and I could've totally left them high and dry. Being shocked by this kind of old fashion attitude, I ran to the nearest cash machine right away and came back to pay. Great service! We drove in with a screw in the tire. They were not able to repair and did not have a replacement in stock. They called other shops found a discount tire store with the right tire in stock. They put a temporary patch in then reinstalled the tire with a few extra pounds if air so we could make it safely to Discount Tire. All this for no charge. This place is awful!!! Very DISHONEST. I stopped in to get a simple oil change and after waiting 2 1/2 hours (!) I was told that my car was leaking oil, so they couldn't change it for me - UNLESS, I paid them an outrageous amount of money to have them fix a bunch of made-up crap they claimed was wrong with my car. I am a young female and I encounter this all the time at auto shops, but these guys take the cake. What a bunch of scam artist hacks! I may be female, but I know a thing or two about cars. Recommend this place to someone you hate!! I had been a customer across the street from MIDAS. that other place neglected to put in a gasket when they did an oil change so when I needed a tire rotation and oil change i saw MIDAS had a sign that said oil Change and Tire rotation for $24.99. it was like a sign from heaven. So I go in and sign a work order for my oil change and tire rotation. Well the car i brought in is a fleet vehicle from my employer. I came in at about 10:30 and was told it would take 45 minutes. at about 11:40 I ask one of the staff members what's the status of my vehicle. he said he was gonna check. Well I talk to "Chris" who just tells me he called GSA (the manager for paying for fleet expenses) and he got a bunch of other work approved -INCLUDING TIRES!!! Now I am doing this during my workday 45 minutes is already eating into my duties and I have other things scheduled to do. I point out to him that he never had me the courtesy of discussing it with me. He looks at me blankly like he really doesn't understand why I am annoyed. I explained I am the A-hole that brought the vehicle in for an oil change. I have been in the waiting area this whole time and at no moment did I approve additional work or was even given a heads up it would be a longer wait. he just said he didn't know I was there. my cell phone was on the work order so why didn't he call? He figured the guy won't say anything. I'll screw the agency for all I can and make a sweet commission I was pissed off enough that I had them take the new tires off the wheel and mount the old tires back on. if I get new tires it won't be with these jerks. All the while that I am back briefing Chris on how he was trying to be sleek and turn an oil change into the sale of the day there is a more senior manager there who didn't say a damn thing. I am pretty sure this is standard operating procedure for them. Something else. Remember I came in and signed for the $24.99 oil change? Well that's the oil change that I got. But I got charged $34.99 and no tire rotation. They said they couldn't do it if the tires are worn... Notice the pattern of not doing the rotation? In the same invoice where Chris says "customer became upset when work was not completed on estimated time frame" he later writes that "all work was completed on original estimated time". Oh and since they never mounted the wheels back on the car with the new tires, they never did the alignment either which was one of the add one unauthorized services. But according to Chris they had already done all the work, including all the added work in the original estimated time -the 45 minute oil change. I came in at 10:30AM and left at 12:45PM. OK - so today I was taking my brother to the airport. Was getting off the 8 to go south on the 5 when my car beeped and 'tire malfunction' appeared in the dashboard. I watched the air pressure going down and decided best to go straight to try and find a good place to pull over. Lucky for me the Midas/SpeeDee oil change shop was just a block or two away. Pulled in - they were super nice from the start. Checked my tire, suggested I call the place where I bought the tire to check if I had road hazard coverage (they could have not mentioned that and I would have replaced the tires right then and there). Then put the spare on for me - all in a matter of 10 minutes or so. Couldn't have had a better experience. Highly recommended! read more

I came in for an oil change and told them I was smelling a burning smell from my brakes. The man who helped me was very kind and said they would take a look and also take a look at my alignment. The oil change was very quick and they called me with a status about my brakes and alignment. They gave me a discount on my alignment because I am a student and due to the fact that my car has an issue with the sway arm, they were unable to align it 100% so he didn't charge me for the alignment! I was ecstatic! Everyone there was friendly and the service was quick. They were very helpful and honest. They told me about the sway bar issue and said I could replace the part, but the mechanic said he could shim it instead which would save me a couple hundred dollars. Called to make an appointment and was referred to website. Made appt on website and was supposed to receive a call back within 30 minutes. After 4.5 hours I called them and was given some lame reason why no one called me. That aside, I made an appt. When I went in for appt I was told they are not allowed to put regular oil in my vehicle- it had to be synthetic oil per manufacturers recommendation cost $70+. Waste of my time...went to Firestone and got oil changed for $35 and they gave me free tire rotation. Will never go to Midas. read more

Love this Midas Shop in particular!!!! Two things that are important to me: Price and Honesty! I used this shop before on my own vehicles; this particular day, one of my close friends asked if I could have the brakes on his Mercedes Benz repaired because his wife twice brought the same Benz to a Midas Shop on Miramar Road. I spoke briefly to the Manager at the Miramar Road Shop but because of a poor attitude brought the Benz to this Midas Shop. I spoke to Gary the Manager, at this shop, showed him the receipt(s) from the other shop - Gary shook his head and told me to return at 3:00 p.m., same day Benz brakes repaired, NO CHARGE! I have a funny sound coming from my brakes. Midas did pads and rotors 4 years back. Driving in town for a while the front wheels seemed hot to me. So I make an appointment to bring the car in for a brake inspection. I get there at noon the scheduled time. Nobody else is there. Not one customer. Jon calls over the PA "12 o'clock brake inspection". I ask him how long it will take. He says 30 to 45 minutes. So I go have a bite to eat, come back and there is my car in the same spot I parked it in. Meanwhile 2 other cars are on the racks. So what gives? Jon says, "I didn't know your car wasn't done". What is he managing a Wal-Mart? The office is like about 10 feet by 10 feet with 2 walls totally windows. Look out the front, there's my car, the only one in the lot. Look out the side, there's the mechanics area with the racks. I say, how could you not know? There were no other customers here when I arrived. He says, "those cars have been on the racks for 2 hours." Maybe in his world but not in the real one. I expect to be lied to. But absolutely hate it when somebody insults my intelligence. Really poor management. A friendly, charming but clueless guy doesn't make it. I'd rather deal with some nasty sullen dude who can manage the place properly and get the job done.
