I brought my car to Midas Ventura for a malfunctioning left headlight and suspected wiring issue. I was charged $4,000, including $2,959.99 in labor with no itemized breakdown and $989.99 for the headlamp. I repeatedly asked for a detailed breakdown of the labor and costs, before approving the work, at pickup, and afterward. But no itemized invoice was ever provided. Midas corporate directed me back to the store and could not assist. I later contacted the California BAR. BAR explained that while the charges may be expensive, they could not compel the shop to issue new or revised breakdown documents after the invoice was signed. What concerns me most is the pressure placed on customers to sign and pay in order to retrieve their car, especially when the breakdown is not clearly explained. I strongly recommend being extremely cautious and requesting full written details before authorizing any major repair at this location. If you are seeking an inspection or estimate, be careful not to place yourself in a situation where you cannot immediately take your vehicle elsewhere. read more

This store is full of a bunch of "mechanics" who don't know what they are doing or talking about. I spoke to "Mark" the service manager who changed my friend $120 for an oil change with specialty Mobile 1 oil and when presented a coupon for a discount on full synthetic oil for $59.99 he claimed that you could not find this high grade oil anywhere for less that $60.00, After a small amount of research I found the exact oil and filter for a total of $55.98. So they charged double for there advanced oil and filter they are most likely buying in bulk so it's even cheaper than purchasing it. Long-time customer extremely disappointed. I've had several vehicles serviced at this Midas location over the years, and until recently, the team--especially Marco--did great work. That makes this review all the more frustrating to write. Last year, I paid nearly $300 for parts and labor to repair a truck window. After months of delays and repeated follow-ups, I was continually told, "We'll call you when the part arrives." Over a year passed with no progress. When I finally requested to cancel the order and receive a refund, I was told--conveniently--that the part had just arrived. I declined and proceeded with the cancellation. At that point, I was only offered a partial refund of $160. After additional weeks of follow-up, I provided my credit card info again to process the refund--only to discover the next day that Midas had charged me over $5,000. When I called, I was told it would be fixed immediately. Two days passed with no resolution and no communication. At that point, I filed a fraud claim with my bank and canceled my card. This was not just a mistake--it was a complete failure in accountability and customer service. When everything goes right, this Midas does solid work. But when things go wrong, they lack the basic follow-through and professionalism you'd expect from any reputable auto shop. Do NOT go there for an Oil Change. It is a bait and switch. I went online to make an appointment based upon their promotion prices; $27.99 Synthetic Blend or $69.99 Full Synthetic. It advised that I would receive a confirmation phone call within 30 minutes, which I never received. Regardless, I showed up at my appointment time. I went to check in for my appointment. He advised me that the spec was for full synthetic oil. I rebuttaled that my vehicle is a 2002 and that GM didn't use synthetics at the time (2011 and newer GM vehicles use Dexos synthetic). After that back and forth, he advises me that the oil change would be $98. I said that it is advertised for $27.99 and I would pay the difference for the extra quarts of oil. He advised that it was ONLY for vehicles that have a capacity of 5 quarts or less. I asked for any type of discount, he declined and I left. They had no cars in the shop being worked on and the mechanics were standing around. With that price and bad business sense, their days are numbered. Their fine print clearly states applicable to "most vehicles". It also states additional parts and services, extra, if needed. I was ok, adding another $20-30 for the additional oil capacity. Here is their fine print. "Most vehicles. See store for details. Discount off regular retail price. Up to 5 quarts of oil. I went to Midas last May for a full synthetic oil change. At the time they were having a special buy one oil change get one for free. I was shocked however when they quoted me about $150 for the oil change. I knew I needed a full synthetic oil change, but they said something about a special kind of oil my car needed. Show it on time and needing the service. I went ahead and paid for it. When my car was finally ready, I was given the Midas receipt information along with a coupon for my free oil change. I was told not to lose it because they do not keep track. However, I wasn't told about any expiration date. Today I went in for an oil change and because they were having a different special I figured I'd save my free oil change for next time. They're special was $69.99 for a full synthetic oil change. Once again they told me that my car would be more expensive and that my oil change would run about $150 so I ran out to grab my coupon. I gave it to the employee and after entering some information he said "you owe... Nothing it's free" he then went to go talk to his manager. When he came back, he pointed out the expiration date which was three months after the purchase date. Had I been told this I never would've purchased in the first place as I was going to have foot surgery the following week and would be unable to drive for close to three months. My car also only needs an oil change every 7500 miles and I wouldn't be close to that even if I had been driving the whole time. The employee then tells me that I do just need a full synthetic and that it normally runs $79.99 but he could offer it to me for $50. Just then, the manager, I believe his name is Marco, joined us. He tried to claim that he couldn't get compensation for the free oil change so they would have to charge me. I said go ahead but you're going to get a bad yelp review. Apparently, he thought I should be happy having to pay another $50 for a "free" oil change. He then refused to service my car. I have been going to Midas for service with several of my previous vehicles as well as my current vehicle once my three years of dealer service was up. This guy lost not only the $50 bucks extra today on top of the $150 I paid in May, but he lost my business forever. And now I know they were just scamming me the whole time saying my car needed something special and didn't qualify for whatever special they were offering on their website for one reason or another. Went here for an oil change on July 15, 2024.But before going there I called them and gave them details of car and then ask for a price and they told me that 89.99 so I look for coupon and found $20 coupon online but when I when there for my appointment they told me that oh your car is big and needs more oil. Told them I called first but still insisted that it needs more oil. So I ended up for a price of 89.99 because of that. Then this guys said oh you still have a discount because it was supposed to be $100+ something and I gave you $20 discount... okay what ever! so I told this guy to go ahead do the oil change... after few minutes another guy called me and said "oh your rear brake are almost metal to metal" But I told him Its okay I have parts coming because for sure it would cost more to get it done with them. But it got me worried that he said it was almost metal to metal so I bought the parts for rare brake and rotor and have it done on July 21, 2024 by friend who knows how to do it. When he remove the brakes we found out that the brakes were really fine both left and right it was still half. I ended up just changing brake and rotors since I have the parts already and we took out the parts. So this guys are trying to get me to spend more. Bunch of liars!! Never would recommend or come back to this place. Also the same day we change brake and rotors I checked the level of the oil and it was only at half!!! They put the wrong year catalytic converter in my car. Not a big deal, we all make mistakes. Trying to get them to fix their mistake is crazy making. I called to check if the new catalytic converter arrived, I was told they would check with Marco (owner) and call me back. I never got a return call. This happened at least twice. After months of waiting on the converter, I bring my car in. I'm told they'll call when it's done. Over 5 hours later I call to check the status of the repair. I am told my car doesn't need anew catalytic converter, it's just such and such paperwork needs to be changed???!!!! They kept my car for over 5 hours and did nothing to it!! I believe they knew they'd do this when I made my appointment, they'd had the converter for days.. I am sure this place might be fine for an oil change etc., but if something goes wrong don't expect their help, even when it's their mistake. This is not an honest Midas store, in my opinion. Disappointed I took my car here. I brought my car in for a check engine. Just started to have the issue so I brought it in. They wanted 1700 to replace a few parts, a new selnoid etc. ( They replaced the gas cap) Did i need any of that? Nope. I asked them ( simce theyre mechanics to take a look at the issue and instead they had me invest money where I didnt need. Looks like I'll be installing a new evap line. I did not have a good experience trying to get an oil change here. I had made an appointment that had a coupon for $34.99 and made sure that this location took the coupon. I made the appointment listing my exact make, model, year of my car as well. It got approved and I received a confirmation email. I showed up to appointment early and they said they don't take the coupon for my car. I asked for a conventional oil change and was willing to pay full price. They said my car only takes full synthetic, which it does not. I showed them the manual and they said they would ONLY do full synthetic which costs over $100. After I showed them that my car manual states that my car does not need a full synthetic, he proceeded to tell me that I have to wait an extra hour and half now, even though I already had a confirmed appointment! I believe it was the manager who was not able to answer my questions and was trying to deter me from proceeding with my appointment. I have never written a negative review before, but the manager's attitude left me very disappointed. A lot of time was wasted and I definitely felt scammed into coming in, so I decided get my oil changed elsewhere. read more

Do NOT get work done here. How they run their business is criminal. I never write Yelp reviews because my wife and I generally do not agree with complaining about petty things, but we don't want anyone else to be taken advantage of so we felt inclined to share our experience. We brought our car here after the catalytic converter was stolen. They worked with our insurance company and agreed upon a quote. When we picked up the car, we had to pay an additional $198.05 (above the agreed upon price). Midas claimed it was because their original quote sent to the insurance company did not include tax, but in reviewing it with our insurance company, this was not true. The insurance company had factored in the local tax rate when they sent us a reimbursement check. Our insurance company contacted them on multiple occasions to try to understand why the quote increased, but they were not cooperative in providing the necessary information for us to be reimbursed. To top it off, when we received our car back, there was a large scratch on our new bumper (that had just been replaced a few months prior) and large grease stains on the driver's side floor mat and small stains on the driver side visor/car ceiling. This was an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. And quite frankly, we will not support unethical business practices. *For the record, we are not alone in our negative experience here. We saw a guy standing outside their shop with a sign that read "This Midas ripped me off" a few weeks after we picked up our car. read more
