This is the most awful business in town. That are a rip off and don't stand by the work they do. I have been there several times recommended friends to them and I will never again. The young guys who work there rude and combative. It was embarrassing and a shock to see such men or boys to say so rude. Obviously the owner makes a pretty penny off of me and other people in town and I don't know why anyone trusts him but maybe everyone else has a different opinion but this is mine now. Took it in, they identified the root cause, fixed it, and called me with a play-by-play explanation. Our 23 year old Camry with 308,000 miles had a "check engine" light come on during a summer trip to Northern California. Eventually after several weeks it went out but the diagnostic test showed a problem with the catalytic converter. When the DMV renewal came in the mail the other day it required a smog inspection. The catalytic converters on this car is part of the exhaust manifold and can be purchased on Amazon for about $150. We decided to take the car to Advance Auto and Smog based on a recommendation from Nextdoor. We were pleasantly greeted by Jaime and Sebastian. We explained our situation, which was basically to keep the car operating for as long as possible and as cheaply as possible. Jaime looked on his computer and discovered that the "California compliant" catalytic converter is about $800 - thanks so much California. Anyway, Jaime ran a diagnostic on the car and said that since the "check engine" light was no longer on, the car should pass smog. They ran a smog test and it passed! The smog check cost around $60 compared to a new catalytic converter plus labor, which would have cost over $1,100. Their honesty, friendliness and knowledge will definitely make this my "go-to" auto repair shop. Can't thank you guys enough. read more

Call to make appointment for 10:30. When I arrived, waiting room was full but they got me in right away. I hade a $10:00 off coupon from their website and showed them and they said great. Finished test in less then an hour. Checking out the total bill was $49, which I thought was great. As I was signing the credit card receipt, he noticed he didn't give me the $10 discount. This place is the best. I heard a noise and thought maybe I need a new rear brakes so I brought my car in to them. They said no you don't need new brakes yet you could still go several more months just bring it back then. They could have charged me for a new brakes and I wouldn't have flinched, but they did the right thing. I've been bringing my car to them for years and my car is there right now. They called me with an update and pricing within an hour and set my expectation that they had to get a part so it wouldn't be worked on until later on in the day. And they are so nice. I am sorry to have to rate them only three stars. It should probably be less, but I like the guys and they were friendly. The problem is I feel I got ripped off $125 when I took my vehicle in to get the AC looked at and repaired. I think part of the issue is that they don't do the work themselves, but have someone who is accredited in AC repair come in and do the work OR they drive it someplace else (which is what they apparently did the second time I left my car there), They are friendly and the owner was cool at first calling me back and explaining everything etc. So I took it in the first time, (right before/during the lock downs in 2020 after they reopened). I was smart to site there and wait for the service rather than leave my car with them. (More on that later). They said it needed refrigerant (which I expected due to the age of the car) and that they did not see anything else wrong with it and no signs of leaking. Great, I thought! Well, it worked good for a day or so until it didn't. It was cooling great on both sides of the car. Then it stopped cooling on one side and them both sides of the interior. I paid $125-plus for that service and it still did not work. I called them what happened and that it was not cooling. Took it back in. They said they would call the AC tech to look at it again. This time I left my car overnight and dropped my keys in the night slot. *Before I dropped it off, I had filled the tank with gas and reset my odometer out of habit. I only drove about 1.5 miles to the shop and reset it to 00 when I left the car there. The next day, they again said there was no sign of leaks but that it looked like the "plug" (a part needed) was not replaced and/or left off and the refrigerant probably escaped that way. They said they tested for other leaks and found none. They said they would not charge me this time. (I was still out $125 and still had an AC that did not work or cool and the weather was getting hot by this time.) Well, the same thing happened again. It cooled on the ride home and I checked later that day and it was still cooling, but the next day or so, it was not cooling. I lifted the hood of my car to look around and found what looked to be a "plug" gold color that seemed to be part of the AC system. I thought, Really? Did they really leave it off again or what? I called and told them what happened and that I have a part the tech apparently left on the side of my engine compartment under the hood. They told me to bring it in again. I never did. I wrote-off the $125 figuring I would never see it again and I would never get the AC fixed by this shop who claimed they repaired ACs. Here is why... When I got my car back from them the second time, I noticed the odometer read over 100 miles. I forget the exact amount, but it was significant. I DO NOT expect a shop to drive my car over a hundred miles or anywhere near that. One or two miles to test it is fine, but over 100 miles? No. Especially after I have just filled my tank with gas. I was shocked. They either loaned my car out to someone, or they drove it themselves to an AC repair tech or shop elsewhere, or to get a part far away or whatever. Either way, totally UNACCEPTABLE. Maybe they thought I would not notice the odometer reading, but they didn't know I reset the odometer when I left it there the night before. I called and told them. The guy acted like he was busted but had nothing to say about it other than waste my time to go BACK in and see what they could do. I gave them two chances, wasted a lot of my time and energy for what should have been a really simple service, to make the situation right with the escaping refrigerant and it was never fixed or resolved. All I learned is that the system is not leaking, which is good. But such a simple thing like putting refrigerant in the system should not be such a hassle. Finding loose parts under the hood and the fact they drove my car AND SMOKED INSIDE OF IT (yuck) so that it stunk badly, is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. Sorry, to write this, but it is 100% true and I cannot recommend this shop. read more

I had check engine light and wanted to see how much it might cost to hopefully pass smog emissions. It ended up costing more than I hoped, but along the way Eddie (the honest owner) updated me about each step and repair they were offering. The initial repair of hose replacements did not clear the light for more than day. They cont. to check the list and I agreed to replace fuel pump, and then the car did pass smog. They did not bombard with many repairs, they went one at a time to test each option. I appreciate Eddie's explanations of the process and understanding of trying to save customers money where he could. I highly recommend them as a local privately owned, honest shop. Don't even want to give them ONE STAR. Took my car in to get a new tire. There was lug nut that wasn't on the tire originally before I brought it in. I asked if I could pay now and they told me wait until after the tire is put on. So they finish the tire and told me that the total is $77 and they handed me a lug nut that they DID NOT put on. So 2 lug nuts were missing. My car was driving perfectly fine before I brought it into there shop. Today my tire turned sideways as I'm driving home with my son in the car. I looked at the tire and there was ONE lug nut on their and my whole axle is f*cked up now due to your guys' lack of work. Beyond mad. YOU GUYS NEED TO REFUND ME MY $77. That is not ok whatsoever. So lucky that my son and I are safe and home without crashing. DON'T EVER COME HERE UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR CAR TO BREAK DOWN. read more

I need a new tire and an alignment. My mom's boyfriend recommended this place and did not disappoint. I would definitely make a appointment because they do get busy. Very efficient and very pleased. They take cash and card but if you pay with cash, you don't have to pay the service fee. Only took an hour and a half. They do have limited parking, so your car might be parked just on the other side of the railing. My car got sandwiched in and they were able to help me get out of a tight spot. Unbelievably trustworthy! I took my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee in a couple of weeks ago and handed my keys over and was ready to wait the 5 or 10 minutes it takes for the smog check to be done and Jaimie was cool enough to tell me instead of taking my money he was honest and said because the check engine light was on it would fail so they could help me run diagnostics and repair the problem or I could take it to my mechanic and bring it back when the light was off which I did. The repairs were all done but the system was still updating so when I brought it back he was nice enough to scan it and since there were still codes popping up again instead of taking my money and failing it he let me know to wait for it to reload and bring it in for them to scan it and get passed. They really are the best and because they have been so honest and upfront we are going to get all new tires with them as well as the smog check. They will now have our business for many years to come because they are a reliable knowledgeable shop that can be trusted. read more

DO NOT GO HERE THEY WILL "FLAG" YOUR VEHICLE!! They will rip you off and force you to spend money here. I went here with a 2002 Chevy Malibu. They told me to wait 30 minutes and I was next for my smog check... I waited almost two hours and was late for work. And then they flagged my vehicle for "illegal catalytic converters." So that I failed their visual inspection but passed, meaning as for "air" pollution, my catalytic converters were working and it was a clean burning car. But they claimed that my catalytic converters were for a 2001 Chevy Malibu, not a 2002. They flagged my vehicle in the DMV system so that I could NOT go anywhere else(I tried! Because it sounded fishy) and because they flagged my vehicle, so that only they could pass my vehicle after I paid them for new catalytic converters. I told them that if it passed the "sniffer" but failed the visual then I want the old ones back("throw them in the trunk!") And then when I got home I looked up the number myself, and the Chevy Malibu catalytic converters I had were good 1997-2003(fifth gen Malibu)... the cats I had were right for my vehicle! so these guys are liars, thieves and will manipulate their power to steal from you.
