I went to Midas today for a full synthetic oil change. They had a deal going on that. Very kind service.

I like that this Midas accepts my credit card with Aamco and that they give you current issue and preventive issues diagnosis. However, they are limited and don't do electrical issues so you have to go somewhere else. Overall the inside waiting area is clean and open. Quality of service is good I would come here for basic wear and tear. The service is good for the value. read more

Good for an oil change, probably good for more. I went for an oil change because my light came on unexpectedly and my regular was booked for the week when I came in. I was expecting to be up sold on a bunch of stuff, but I got the oil change I paid for and was told that my car was in excellent shape and just needed to have the filter changed and a a headlight replaced, which checked out from my experience with the car. I decided to hold out until I could have my regular guy do it but the fact that he didn't try to pressure me on the importance of getting this done as soon as possible was a real plus. read more

The guys at this location in Gurnee are super helpful and knowledgeable. They helped me with a heating issue that I had tried many other shops couldn't fix. Would bring my car back here for future work. The price was very reasonable as well compared to what I paid for at other shops. read more

I have never received anything but top notch, trustworthy service from the Waukegan Midas. My family drives old cars and we drive them HARD. Tom and Jeremy are both incredibly helpful and they work with us to figure out what REALLY needs to be fixed and what things are optional. In Waukegan IL Do not go there I took my car there to get a flush because I had no to heat not only did they not do the flush all my fluids were drained from my car and replaced with water causing damage to my engine and transmission how malicious can you be to do someone like this you've been warned for not I repeat do not go there. read more

I stopped in to Waukegan Midas to inquire about brakes as I was sure I needed new brakes all around and probably shocks as well. I explained my concerns to Ritch and made an appointment for 2:30pm that afternoon. I arrived on time and they took my car right in. When it was all done and over, I only needed front brakes and the final cost was $60 less than the original estimate. And upon inspection I did not need new shocks either. I was very appreciative that I was treated well with honesty, integrity and professionalism. Tom took excellent care of me. i have a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee w a hemi. Oil changes are always a disaster due to poor engineering on the engine protection pan which traps an appreciable amount of oil. It subsequently drips on my driveway and garage floor for weeks. I asked him if they could remove the pan before draining the oil. He not only did that, but they cleaned off previous residue before reinstalling it. He has earned a repeat customer. read more

Did you know a bad wheel bearing can be so loud that people think you need a new transmission?? Tom, a mechanic at Midas in Waukegan, did!! Though numerous mechanics had told me I needed a new transmission, Tom took care of the problem by replacing my wheel bearings and a new control arm. The service was amazing! They took me step by step through the problem, and patiently explained what was wrong with the car. He even showed me the pieces after taking them out of my car to show me wear on the pieces. I went in there today for a oil change, the guy told me I had a gas line leak. Ok I get it, lets fix it. He came back with a quote for brakes rotors, brake line, and fuel line. I had specifically asked for a quote regarding the fuel line. Then he tried to tell me I should just do it all now. I understand a fuel leak is dangerous but what they heck do the brakes rotors and have to do with it? Then he would not even take the time to itemize the quote properly. He told me to just ball park it. Yikes! I got another quote for the fuel line while waiting for captain upsell to get a form ready for me to sign. Got the fuel line fixed two hours later with my oil change at a shop a couple miles down the road. 1/4 of the price! Stick to oil Midas.. read more

This review is specifically for Mr. Tom Hays who is the manager of the store on Green Bay Road . Last week I had some muffler work done but it wasn't done in a professional manner . I talked to Mr. Hayes and made an appointment to have him take care of the problem . Upon arriving for my appointment , Mr. Hays evaluated the problem and told me his plan to take care of the previous inferior job . Just before the job was complete , I was asked to see the progress to make sure I was satisfied . The expertise , professionalism and attention to detail was evident when the job was done . I have been going to this shop for over 10 yrs . , and anytime Mr. Hays had to do anything to my truck my confidence in him was always very high . read more

RIP OFF RIP OFF CHEATS I came here because I thought I could trust the "Midas Touch." I was fooled. I had a rusted screw that prevented me from taking out a dying battery. All I needed the mechanics to do was take the screw out. After a couple minutes, they came to the conclusion that it would take $40 to take the screw out. On top of that, the process might damage other componennts in the battery's vicinity. This would lead to more potential cost. I declined services. Luckily I encountered a friend at a local mom and pop shop. Not only was he able to take the screw out, he did it under 10 minutes, he he gave me a replacement screw all for free. Midas wanted to charge me $40 plus more potentail cost for a rusted screw. I wonder how they charge for other legitimate mechanic work. read more

I am giving this place 3 stars because I think they do an ok job. I got some parts replaced for my wheels and after about 3-4 weeks it started making noise again. They said this was normal and that another part broke. I don't know if this is true. They were nice and did things quickly but I am not sure about the quality of the work. I know my car is old but I do not think something should be braking after 3 weeks of it being fixed. Seems fishy to me. I took it to someone else after and they fixed it for cheaper and it has been fine ever since. If i needed something done quick maybe i would go back but I'm not sure. read more

My family and I were taking a vacation right down the road in Gurnee, staying in a hotel and visiting Great America. As we were leaving the park the second day, our car wouldn't start. Of all the times for a fuel pump with under 70,000 miles to go out... long story short, our insurance arranged a tow, and I called the closest Midas in Gurnee, after several other calls looking for someone available. Midas said they could fit me in, and off we went. Due to miscommunication with the tow driver, we ended up at the Midas in Waukegan. But they took great care of us, fitting us in, and even when my wife and daughter took a cab from the hotel to wait with me for the car, they offered to lock our bags in the manager's office. It was a bit pricey, but not overpriced. It was in the spectrum of resonable cost for a fuel pump swap and diagnostic. But the sales manager offered me a cheaper part which I myself refused (been there, done this before, you get what you pay for, trust me) and he even looked up a few coupons to ease the bill as much as he could. The tech working on my car explained things clearly, wasn't full of crap (thankfully I know at least enough from working on my own cars to know when a shop is on the level) and took great care of the car. I can't thank these guys enough. They took a potential vacation disaster story, accepted a surprise walk in customer with a 5 plus hour job, and got us on the road and home 3 hourd away before dinner.
