My correspondence with Jackie their office support was fantastic comparing against others. She was quick on email and I had an appt booked for an estimate within a week or two as it was spring and the weather was getting nice. Joey showed up, took a video, and I had my estimate in hand in a day. He listened to exactly the look and product I wanted used. It was not an easy cookie cutter patio. Their price was in line with the other 3 estimates I got back for the same project. The project started fast because it was going to be a 4 day job so they fit it into a slot of space they had. Within another week or two they had the crew come excavate my backyard patio area and demo my walkway that was concrete and needing replacement. The excavating team was about 5-6 guys and they worked quick to go deep for the patio. Next day they were installing the paver I chose which was a Unilock Copthorne paver. It had to be hand blended and I wanted a herringbone pattern. The backyard patio was a 90 degree herringbone and the walkway was a 45 degree herringbone. Both came out fantastic. His guys were so good especially the ones they are blending and wet sawing all the edges. They work so well together and their team is really professional. I would highly recommend them for your backyard needs like patios, walkways, bbq, fire pits, hardscaping etc.

About 3 years ago Scott Johnston repaved my small driveway and every time I clear it of leaves,…read moresnow, etc., I greatly appreciate the work he did. He personally graded and contoured the area with a small dozer to solve major runoff and drainage problems with a minimum amount of pitch in any direction. He replaced a very high, problematic entry berm put in by the town by smoothly contouring the area as an integral part of the driveway. He enlarged the driveway footprint on the fly to improve drainage and increase overall functionality at no additional cost, solved a problem with the garage/barn apron and avoided the need and cost for a police detail on a main road. He also put in a durable road-grade surface that I appreciated the first time extremely heavy trucks used driveway. His crew then did an excellent job of putting in a cobble stone border. The whole job noticeably improved the appearance of the property. I didn't know Scott before this work, but he is regarded as a real craftsman by his friends, and it is noticeable in the work he does. It was probably the best change made to the property for the money.

The path slopes down from the street with a significant grade to our garage & basement with a left turn thrown in along the way. They installed a double dry well with a grate above one well 8 or so feet from the house and the other underneath the turnaround slotted into the back yard. These wells were placed to catch rivers of water that flow down toward the house and can get into the garage during torrential rains or fast thaws in winter and water the flows off the house when it's pouring . They graded everything perfectly so that all rainwater flows either to the dry well or curves down the driveway to the backyard which slopes gently into a wooded area. Last night's biblical downpours filled the dry well and sloped area around it. Water not only gushed down the driveway but also formed a fast moving waterfall down the set of stairs set in the retaining wall that separates the front yard from the driveway. Not one drop of water ended up in the garage, dry as a bone. Kudos to Johnstone Paving. I wouldn't hire anyone else. They are also very friendly, considerate, and kind. They are the whole package.
