First, my joker origin story: For years I have been cutting my own hair due to a longstanding and deeply ingrained distrust of barbers. Barbers always left me with variations of the same high-maintenance high top fade, no matter what reference photos I tried to show them. My requests would seem to be brushed off with a cold "Yeah yeah, trust me bro i got u" vibe, and then they'd proceed to f*** my whole s*** up. Still, about once a year, in the lead-up to a wedding or some other fancy event, I'd hesitantly set aside my misgivings and hope against hope that a barber could get me looking fresh. And every time, they'd leave me looking goofy and I'd end up just wearing a HAT for a couple months to let it grow in, and then cutting it myself again... rinse and repeat... ...Until I met Nisan about a week ago. I heard about him through a friend, and as there was a wedding coming up, I decided to take a chance. He runs his one-chair operation by appointment out of a cozy quiet little cubicle in Century City. I told him the above origin story & what kind of cut I was after, then he started examining MY hair & scalp and telling me important things about how MY hair specifically will grow and move. Things no barber has ever told me before. During the cut, he kept checking in with me throughout to present options, while elucidating the pros and cons thereof. He really knows how to communicate, and he is a super sweet guy. Anyway he gave me the first actual good haircut I've ever paid for in my adult life, and I will be going back. Nisan is an expert and truly cares about his clients. He corrected mistakes from my last haircut with another barber and suggested various styles that would look good. Nisan is a great communicator, and spent time explaining how to properly care for my hair, something no other barber I've had did. The optionality and hours are unrivaled, making it easy to get an appointment if I need a cut with late night hours. Wow! Contacted midnight fade for a nighttime cut and drove from Orange County since a friend recommended I go to a professional hairstylist and get some recommendations instead of just paying $15 for a generic fade and hard part and despite the price being 4x what I'm used to, I was thoroughly impressed! First of all, this is not a quick trim & go. Nisan takes his time assessing your entire style, facial structure, etc., and making suggestions and adjustments as necessary. You can tell that he is passionate and truly a master at his craft. A great conversationalist as well, he will put you at ease and make sure you're comfortable during the entire experience. But what I am most thankful for is the new method of washing my hair that he taught me to get rid of my lingering if no longer debilitating dandruff problem. I tried it this morning and it seems to be working already! I can't believe no one suggested to massage my hair 100x with a fine toothed comb as I rinse it in the shower every day! For the first time in my life I finally have hope that I will truly be dandruff free, AND have a healthier scalp. This tip alone was worth the entire cost of the appointment. Now to us normal working class people, $65 for a haircut is not cheap, I know. But Nisan told me that before starting his own business here, he was working at some fancy shop in Beverly Hills that charged $125 PER CUT! And honestly for the level of service and care that Nisan provides... I understand. So if you look at it that way, $65 is actually a great deal. At the end of the day, Nisan goes above and beyond, in a completely different league from my usual $15 hood haircuts or even the few $35-50 cuts I've tried out in the past. Most of the time with those $35-50 guys I end up questioning why I bothered cheating on my local $15 barber for the same exact service, maybe plus a shampoo & hot towel, but with Nisan, halfway through the appointment I already realized that he truly provided enough value for me to feel that my money was well spent. If you are looking for a late night fade, or suggestions for your hair & style to change up your look, I cannot recommend Nisan enough. He is truly world class I promise you will not be disappointed. read more

Excellent haircut! Nisan is a skilled and talented barber. he didn't just take out the buzzer and buzz away. He mostly gave a scissor cut and took his time to make sure it looked perfect. Nisan is Him. I've been moving around a lot, and for 8 years I've never found a barber that comes close to the barber I had in my hometown - I would post up in his garage and come out clean as hell every time. My hair is thin and I have a certain vision for it that is hard for barbers to pull off, so getting a hair cut is usually stressful for me. But not with Nisan. Nisan cut my hair exactly with the vision I had in mind, only better. Unlike other barbers, he understood exactly what I wanted and took his time to carefully cut my hair and talk to me about how we could clean it up. The description "mobile barber" does not do him justice. I've had my hair cut in high end salons for years, having abandoned the barber and clippers of my youth when I finally made some money. So I'm spoiled, but in the midst of this Corona crisis I took a chance and had the Mobile Barber come to my home in Santa Monica. This is the best haircut I've had in years. He asked a few questions and figured out what I wanted, then executed with professionalism, efficiency and grace. What a nice guy, and a talent.
