Keto paleo chocolate chip was delicious
    Quijana B.

I have no idea how good the cupcakes might be, as I didn't order them. The moment I spotted the low carb cookies my mind was set! Thank you Aaron! Here's the deal- no business is going to risk its reputation on a product unless they truly believe that it is at least as good as similar items out there. They want people to buy it once and then to come back and to also spread the word. These cookies are so good that I feel the need to spread the word, and I'm trying to figure out how to find the truck again. Keto diets are extremely low carb* and paleo diets avoid wheat** which makes them lovely companions in many specialty dessert recipes. Almond flour is a great replacement for wheat and is low carb. Add other quality ingredients and you'll end up with a winning concept. Add knowledge and experience and you'll end up with these delicious cookies. We bought two six count bags. Chocolate chip (2.9 net carbs per cookie) and iced lemon (.9 net carbs per cookie!) which cost $10 each. This is when I realized how important it is to have someone nearby to help you share the bag, because without a partner your brain will tell you to eat all of the cookies in one sitting. They were delicious! Three of us shared the treats, which are sweetened with monk fruit and are soft and crumbly but which did not fall apart in the bag on the way home. The lemon cookie was our favorite. Almond flour was an unexpectedly perfect pairing with lemon, and the final product was almost cake like in texture. My diabetic mother was happy that she got to have more than one at a time, and we were all so sad when the cookies were gone. I don't know what kind of magic happens in Aaron's Midnite kitchen, but I'm willing to taste anything he conjures! (*there's more, but this is the important bit right now!) (**yes, again, so much more, but let's get back to the cookies!)

Loved my oatmeal cookie cup (tasted just like an oatmeal cookie!!) and requested extra frosting and the guy piled it on! Will return to this truck next time it's in my area!

Easily one of my favorite DC cupcake trucks!! That means a lot coming from a cupcake fiend! There's plenty of cupcake trucks in DC so what makes Midnite Confections different? They let you mix and match cake bases with frosting flavors so there are endless possibilities! There's always at least 5-6 cake flavors and frostings to choose from. After you pick your cake base, they hand-pipe the cupcakes right in front of your eyes. It may sound insignificant but the excitement of watching them personalize your cupcake with your choice of frosting makes my cupcake-filled heart flutter! Service is always friendly and the cupcakes are always delicious, no matter what cupcake/frosting concoction you pick! Highly recommended :)

Another sweet food truck option, while I enjoy a good steak sandwich from the back of the truck I much prefer something sweet from the back of the truck. I like how you can mix and match your frosting with your cupcake flavor, while I went ultra unoriginal with vanilla on vanilla, it is nice to see you have a variety of options. I was mixed on the cupcake overall, while the icing was much too sweet to my liking but the cupcake itself was nicely made, great flavor, nice density, fluffy and almost perfect. Overall nice cupcake and I could see myself returning in the future.

Vanilla cupcake with buttercream frosting. Very mediocre and sloppy frosting job...

I was still a little hesitant until this nice woman came along and vouched for the food. I had no idea about what to order, but as soon as I saw her food come out I was sold. I told the guys to give me exactly what she had, which included a quarter chicken, corn, and potatoes. I got back up to my office and enjoyed all of it. The chicken was well done and well seasoned, the corn was tasty, and the potatoes were better than what I was expecting. Can't really explain it but they were like roasted and mashed at the same time.. whatever it was it was great! Oh and that sweet orange sauce that they gave me took the chicken to another level. Insert fire emojis Lastly, the guys working the truck were some of the coolest food truck people that I've ever interacted with. Combine that with good food and you can def count on my coming back again.

Well...I meant to take a picture of my lunch. Really, I did. But...it was gone too fast…read more.. Today was my second time at Ooh Dat. Both times I've ordered the same thing - a quarter dark meat with one side. It comes with basmati rice (which you can sub out for a different side) and a choice of a salad, coleslaw, and corn. I've chosen the coleslaw both times - I find it so unique, with its cabbage and basil-like dressing. Definitely NOT your usual slaw. I will try the corn one of these days, though. On to the chicken - They give you a good amount of chicken and it is very, very juicy. I can't comment about the skin (I don't eat the skin, I take it off...I know to some of you that's a sin!) but my co-workers have previously commented that it is nicely seasoned. They also provide you with a mild barbeque sauce, and today they gave me a new sauce, which was curry-based. It's slightly thicker than the barbeque sauce, which while it has good flavor, is a bit thinner (it complements, not overpowers, the chicken). I alternated between both sauces today. I have to also complement the owner/manager - I had exactly $8 in cash (keep forgetting about the taxes for food trucks!) so he let me go without paying the $.80, that was really nice of him. I'll be sure to give it back to him next time! Overall, a solid, filling meal, and I would return!

Just outside the L'Enfant Plaza Metro stop (on the Maryland Ave side), you'll know you're in the right place by the crowds of Federal office workers queuing up for their favorite truck. There's a great variety from southern soul food to barbeque, from pho and banh-mi to Indonesion, from Philly cheese steaks to gyros. My daughters each had beef pho from the Pho-Nation and Vietnamese Food trucks (piping hot flavorful broth, plenty of noodles, slices of tender beef, cilantro, and accompanied with hot sauce and lime wedges on the side); my wife had the falafel salad from the Quick Bites truck which was outstandingly tasty and light, made with a chickpea and fava bean combination with a herb blend that gave them a unique green color on the inside; while I had the gyro platter from the same truck. Excellent lamb meat, well-seasoned, good tzatziki sauce, and accompanied by a fresh salad and stewed chickpeas. About $9 each for these meals and the trucks take credit cards. Don't settle for the tourist trap food trucks lined up near the Smithsonian museums -- these are terrible with microwaved pizza slices and hot dogs only ... make the short walk to these real food trucks and you won't be disappointed.
