    The Gump

Atmosphere is definitely a pizza shop. The pizza I ordered, The Gump, had just the right amount of spice with the jalapeños and the crust is not thick. Service was good and they were pretty busy! I will definitely be back next time I'm in town.

This is a great place folks!! If you haven't been here, you are missing out. The vibe is a friendly neighborhood feel. As I sat waiting, I noticed a lot of folks coming through that are obviously regulars here. The wait staff is friendly and helpful. Don't let the name fool you, not only do they have the best pizza in Montgomery, the menu is highly varied with several entree salad offerings as well as numerous pasta dishes. There is truly something for anyone here. There is a great offering of wines and a varied beer menu. I had the 3 meat calzone. Absolutely fabulous, my compliments to the pizza chef.

I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich and a plate of char-grilled hot wings. The sandwich was the highlight for me. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, with a nice char on the outside that gave it great flavor without being dry. The bun was fresh and held everything together without falling apart halfway through (which I always appreciate). It felt like a well-balanced, thoughtfully made sandwich rather than something rushed. The char-grilled hot wings were flavorful with a smoky finish from the grill. They had a good kick -- not overwhelmingly spicy, but enough heat to keep things interesting. A couple of them were slightly on the smaller side, but the taste definitely made up for it. The atmosphere was relaxed and lively without being too loud. Service was friendly and attentive, though we did wait a bit longer than expected for our food during a busy stretch. Nothing dramatic, just noticeable. Overall, it's a place I'd happily return to -- good food, good vibe, and consistent quality. A strong 4 stars from me.

There are some great beer options that you can level up with nitro. The pizza selections were somewhat overwhelming because there were so many familiar choices and I had a hard time picking one, but I opted for the chicken Gouda, which was a top tier choice. Plenty of chunks of chicken, with a smooth sauce, and nice crust. I ate the entire pizza because I could not get enough. The decor was very whimsical with their elephant logos throughout. Overall, good choice for a Friday night or anytime you need some good grub.

Yes that photo is a small! I heard a few other people in the restaurant comment to the same. We weren't about to complain though as it was just what we needed with fresh veggies and the Gorgonzola dressing was epic! We then moved on to our entree of the Rigatoni Bolognese adding meatballs. There was a hint of sweetness that we got from the cognac and cream! The Sunday gravy component was amazing. I wish that we could have taken a jar of it with us. My husband asked today if I thought we maybe able to duplicate. We maybe able to get close but I double if we could duplicate. The atmosphere was comfortable and upscale without being stuffy while also a laidback bar feel where others could watch the World Cup while enjoying a pizza and beer. By the way, we watched a pizza go by our table and almost snatched a piece. It looked and smelled amazing. If we are ever back in Montgomery we'll be back and would recommend to others. Thanks Blake at the Doubletree Hotel for the recommendation!!

My guy called to make sure they would be open since it the week of Christmas. The guy on the phone, after answering that they were open, proceeded to text a menu and the address to us. Great customer service!!! Upon arriving, and after a little confusion as to how to place an order (due to the coffee shop staff), we ordered a meat lovers.com and a build your own with Alfredo base, bacon and beef. Both were personal sized. After a short week and the owner coming out to give us an update on our order, the pizzas arrived. They looked just as delicious as pictures had showed. They also tasted as good as they looked. The cheese was really cheesing, and had that mozzarella pull you see in movies and magazines. The toppings were fresh and flavorful. Both the red sauce and the Alfredo sauce were measured perfectly. The crust was a star and could easily be a meal by itself...it was just that good. The pizzas should come with a side of red sauce for dipping the crust in. The owner (I think his name is Cedric) came out , chatted with us, discovered we were from Birmingham, and apologized that we didn't get to visit his regular location as they are making some repairs. He was very down to earth and we encouraged him to look into coming to the Birmingham market. We could tell that he put his heart into his work and he has taught that also to his employees. I really hopes he looks in to branching out. He has something special with these pizzas. If you're in the area, please check them out. You won't regret it!

Luckily we got to place our orders and the wait really wasn't that bad. The Lucille? Chef's kiss. The crust? The pizza overall? Just DELICIOUS. I will definitely try to make it anytime I'm in Montgomery now. The decor is also very funny. I loved the theme lol. Pro tip: Call your order in so you can make the wait a little shorter.

People around here insist on shredded but you can order a 'Build Your Own' with fresh mozzarella." That young lady deserves a raise. I don't know her salary, but trust me you should pay her more because she is fantastic at her job and is the reason for four stars instead of three. She kept smiles on the faces of everyone with a great sense of humor. As for the restaurant, it's a nice pizzeria with cool pictures on the wall and even a Ms. Pac-Man game in the corner. They have two tables on the patio outside but plenty of seating inside. We ordered the Build Your Own Pizza but basically made it a Margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella to go. Got to try and keep it somewhat authentic. We had a few beers on the patio and Ashleigh came by one time with samples of a chocolate shake that has some stout beer and round chocolate cookie cereal pieces on top. It was delicious. Unfortunately, our pizza had to be reheated by the time we got back to my sister's house. It was ok but it's not fair to rate it since it wasn't fresh from the oven. Crust was halfway decent. I'd try them again for sure but I'd eat at the restaurant next time.
