First things first, we came in around 4:30 p.m., right before the dinner rush (and right when the early bird crowd starts rolling in), and the service was excellent from the moment we walked through the door. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our party of five adults and two kids was seated quickly. Midtown is one of our favorite places to eat whenever we're in the Denver area visiting family, and it never disappoints. Once we were seated, our waitress was polite, attentive, and had our drinks out in no time. Of course, us Griggs had to order the Southern sweet tea! My wife's grandmother ordered an alcoholic drink from the bar, and it came out just as quickly. After looking over their huge menu (which we always enjoy because there are so many great options), everyone finally made their decision. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger with tater tots, and let me tell you--the burger was HUGE! It looked like it weighed a pound. It was cooked perfectly, full of flavor, and the tater tots were extra crispy just the way I like them. My wife ordered the quesadillas, and the portion was so generous she could only finish half. Both of our kids got the chicken tender meals, which were free with the purchase of an adult entrée that day. They both ate well, and we still had leftovers to take home. The chicken tenders were cooked perfectly. Everyone at our table enjoyed their meals, and by the time we left, we were all completely stuffed. Midtown continues to be one of our favorite family restaurants because of the friendly atmosphere, great service, generous portions, and consistently delicious food. We had a fabulous time with great food, terrific service, and a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. We ordered the fish and chips basket to split since we also ordered three appetizers: coconut shrimp, blue cheese beef tips, and cheese curds. The fish was fresh and fried perfectly. The coconut jumbo shrimp were tender and very flavorful as was the dip. The blue cheese beef tips were out of this world delicious. Finally, the cheese curds were perfectly hot and juicy on the inside with a crisp, light brown outside. The waitress was extremely personable and helpful in my dri.nk selection of a special margarita that did not disappoint. My hubby choose an on-tap beer and drank two during our leisurely stay. The waitress in no way rushed us and received a lovely-size tip for her graciously attentive service and her chipper, layed-back attitude. We will definately be going back. If Mediocrity needed a definition, Midtown Sundries would be it. The menu is straight out of 1990, gluten free options are available, so that gets them to 50% or 3 stars. The service met expectations, the food met expectations, the ambiance is what it is. This is a not so special place, a step above fast food, cause it ain't fast at all! How do you make a hamburger not special? Put beef on a bun. Ask for toasted bun, get butter soaked burnt bun. Whom ever are working the kitchen, have no pride in their work. Second time eating there,am new to the area. Both times great servers very attentive. The atmosphere is a little outdated giving Bennigans vibe. Our visit was disappointing. It seemed the chef gave little thought to what he/she put on the plate. My salad was warm and had limpy lettuce. The lettuce on my hubby's burger was the same and the bacon was nearly burnt. I will say the potato skins were ok and the beer was cold. Every time we have been there the food has not disappointed. Our favorite items to eat there are the wings! But everything is good! My husband and I are visiting from upstate NY and we went to a friends party at this restaurant recently. The customer service was top notch but we weren't used to the North Carolina heat especially our little dog so Tracy from this restaurant came right over to us on outside patio area and brought my little service dog some ice cubes in a cup which we were truly appreciative of and it made my dog very comfortable and offered relief. The food was delicious and the cocktails were amazing plus they had an incredible band as well!! The ambiance was inviting and so welcoming. Worst Place ever. Server was blatantly rude from the moment we sat down. Had 2 children ages 4 and 2 and the 4 year old was standing up playing with the wall- our server and another server stopped in front of our table staring at my children and then walked away- manager than came over and raised her voice at my child and was a straight up b*, so I said we could just leave and she replied with "yea yall should do that". We have been customer at midtown for YEARS and have NEVER experienced this until today. So disappointing, no more service from us. It's a nice and beautiful Sunday with the Tarheels playing. My hubby wanted to go to get some lunch, so we s stopped in. As always, wonderful as d friendly staff. The food was okay, the fried pickles were hot and crispy and the ranch was delicious. The ambiance is trying to be a sports bar but also kind of a sit down restaurant with fine dining prices. The service, was atrocious, the hostess/manager was nice and greeted us. The server asked for our food and felt like she was trying to rush us to order everything. Once she came back to get our order and our food was sat down we were ghosted, I was three bites in and was already asking us for boxes! I was told that the chicken melt here is delicious so I was excited to try it for myself! We were seated right away and our waitress came to the table asking us what we would like to drink. The menu has many different options that I did second guess the chicken melt a couple of times, but decided to still settle with trying the chicken melt. For my side I got the pasta salad. Service was okay. Waited on drink refill longer than I wanted, but I can live with it. Charged $3.00 for kids drink, when I purchased kids cheese quesadilla meal. Supposed to come with meal. Charged another 0.85 cents for Extra Tzatzicki sauce TWICE! when I only asked for 1 and only got 1. The problem I have is a get a handheld computer put in front of me with the total. I don't see the bill. I payed the bill and sent the receipt to my phone. I saw it this morning and noticed the errors. I guess from now on I will ask to see bill before paying. Dinner here was a last minute decision while out running errands on a Monday. Service left a bit to be desired but wasn't necessarily bad. Same with the food. The menu was a bit overwhelming so trying to narrow down our selections while hungry was quite the task. We finally just gave in and ordered what seemed like a safe bet for our first visit. In hindsight, we should've thought through the options we chose a little better but we figured the classic staples of wings and fish and chips would give us a good idea of what to expect in future visits. Plus we both were wanting to try the fries after seeing them on a nearby plate. Unfortunately, I would not return for either dish but maybe that was my mistake in ordering. Overall, everything felt far too greasy and left me feeling pretty miserable. In hindsight, I should've ordered something lighter or maybe thrown in a little more greens to balance it out, but live and learn! I let my stomach overrule my brain when ordering and it certainly paid the price. The pretzel appetizer we ordered while trying to decide on our entrees was the best part of the meal. It was a tad over salted but with the coarse salt, that's an easy enough fix by brushing off the excess. The beer cheese was pretty good and the pretzel itself seemed fresh. I feel it is a bit pricey for what it is but still a solid option. My fish and chips were very greasy. I couldn't finish more than half of the first piece. Possibly because I was already pretty full from sharing the appetizer but mostly because the grease left me feeling queasy. The small portion of slaw was good but not really enough to give reprieve from the grease the rest of the meal offered. And of course the fries didn't help there either. They were also unseasoned so they weren't nearly as good as I had hoped when ordering. They were very substantial though and when dipped in the ranch that came with my husband's wings, were pretty good- just bland. The hush puppies were the best part of this entree but obviously didn't help the grease overload my body was expediting. Overall, I wouldn't order this option again. My husband ordered the wing basket which consisted of 5 wings with fries. He opted for the cajun wings after realizing they were the only option that wasn't grilled. They were extremely hot when they arrived and took a while to cool due to the breading so keep that in mind when ordering these! The breading was rather thick but the wings were a good size. My husband seemed to enjoy them. I couldn't handle anything else fried at the time so I didn't have the chance to taste them for myself. The ranch however was very good and I would like to order it with a salad next time. Aside from the food, the environment was the typical sports bar meets American restaurant vibe. Very loud but that may have been mostly due to the group we were seated beside. This isn't somewhere you would come for an intimate night out anyway, so it's to be expected. There are plenty of TVs so it would probably be a great spot to catch a game when football season rolls around. It also has a decent bit of space. We found out a little too late, Monday is kids eat free night so I probably wouldn't go on a Monday again. They seem to have pretty good daily specials so I'll have to check that ahead of time next visit. The staff was nice enough but even though we had to wait, the table was still not clean when we were seated and it took a while before we seen a waiter. I'm sure like many places right now, they're dealing with staffing issues so I try to give grace on these things. My rating is based mostly around the food and overall impression. Maybe I can visit again to see if this may have just been an off night for them and order a lighter meal. I wouldn't completely write this place off but it isn't very high on my list to visit right now. We haven't ate out much since moving to the area so there are still many others we hope to check out before I'll likely make a return trip here. I really hate to write reviews like these so I hope to be able to update this one in the future. The experience wasn't completely negative so I don't want it to come off that way, but unfortunately there weren't many redeeming parts to mention. And for the price we paid for everything, that is pretty disappointing. Hopefully the next time will be better, though. read more

A super large space with plenty of seating, we arrived for an early dinner and found only a few other tables with diners. There were several staff visible on the floor, but it seemed to take them a very long to come to our table, time after time. We were sat near the far corner making it extra hard to get the staff's attention (is it me, or are the booths the exact right height that they can continue to avoid your eye contact?) We had to ask for both hot sauce and boxes twice before they were brought to us. The place was clean, but the food was "meh" and the service was a struggle. Been here 4 times, got food poisoning every time. Didn't think anything of it the first or second time, just coincidence's I told myself, as I wanted to keep going for the tasty food. Normally fries are really good. Yesterday, they were so greasy you could squeeze one and grease would drip onto your plate and your fingers were covered in grease. - the fries were inedible! When I asked for them to be taken off my bill, I was told by the waitress who also said the manager said the same.... "fries are just greasy because we cook them in grease" . I've been here a few times and really enjoy the variety of food on the menu. They also have daily specials, listed on their menu as well, but unfortunately no lunch menu. Came today for lunch and ordered the chicken tender platter which comes with hush puppies, coleslaw and fries. However, I substituted the fries for loaded mashed potatoes (the coleslaw and hushpuppies were unable to be substituted). I thought the portion size was excellent for the price as well (less than $11). Service was fine, not great, but not bad. The restaurant also has a full service bar as well (but still family friendly). Good food (and consistent) for pretty great prices. read more

Mass confusion, systemic problems, "next" attitude. I ordered something to go and something to dine in to eat and a beer to drink. I went through the first beer pretty quick. The To go order came out first as I was finishing the first beer. So, I ordered the second beer as my salad came out. As I was eating the salad my meal AND appetizer came out, both were wrong. The printed ticked was correct but the order came out wrong. They took the food back and as my full beer was sitting there at my half eaten salad, I asked for another dressing. The server brought me another beer, she had to take it back and get the dressing. No apologies, no reason and no exchange of just how bad things went wrong. The server brought my check of + $70 and said have a good day. She just said "next" to me...no matter how bad my experience just was, the server just wanted me gone. The food, both dine-in and to go orders had issues. The to go order had too much seasoning on it and caused major after tastes all night. Been a number of years since my wife and I had been to this location of Midtown Sundries and while I admit, they last couple of time I was not impressed, this time was a lot better. Walked in and mask and social distancing were enforced. Were promptly seated at a table and every other table was closed off. Server wore a mask the entire time I was there and paying was contactless. Pretty much the same type menu it has been over the years with an emphasis of bar food and drinks. I chose the 3 Slider lunch with Okra and the Sliders were a bit dry and on the whole, I would have given them a 3+. My wife on the other hand, started with the Cheesy Potato Soup, the Philly Cheese Steak Spring Rolls and a side of Okra. Side order or Fried Okra was huge and as for as how she liked the meal, she loved it. She loved it so much that she has taken her Son who is helping us move there three times. Her rating is probably between a 4 and a 5 so rounded off, I'll give it a 4. With Covid, my wife prefers to order out but this was one of the few times, she felt comfortable dining in. read more

We had a excellent night as Cheyenne was our waitress and Nikki was in training. I had, what they called a wet beef sandwich. It was basically a French dip, with cheese, grilled onions, fresh grilled mushrooms, french fries and I ordered a side of horsey sauce and it was cooked perfect. We also had chicken wings, the shrimp basket, and the cod fish and chips. We weren't disappointed in anything as far as the food went, it was absolutely fantastic. We did try to get them to put on the Thursday night football game which they did for a little while but then it was taken off of the TV and had a bunch of info-mercials on, so that was disappointing.
