We have lived 2 minutes from this place for 8 months and have never stopped by. Today we decided to try it out. Super bummed that it took us this long to go there. Super cool, bar vibe. It looks so much bigger on the inside than it does from the outside. I would imagine it could get pretty lively on a Friday night or Saturday game day. We have been to this location several times this summer. Service has been good despite extreme shortage of wait staff. Appetizers are good but priced a bit high for the size. Ordered She Crab soup today and was disappointed I had to add my own Sherry but even more disappointed that it was made with IMITATION crab. My only complaint is that we noticed there is not a changing table in the men's restroom - only the women's. The chicken was a tad dry, but the tzatziki sauce made up for that. The fries were not my favorite. The QR code for the drinks menu didn't work, so our waitress had to tell us what they had. We ordered a liquid marijuana, which was the best thing that we ordered. Their drinks were reasonably priced. Top shelf was about $6 per drink. All feature sports but not all of them the same event. It also has a large bar, yes with TVs. The food is better than okay with a large menu (in size) with a good variety of items. A beautiful day in Charlotte, we had decided to meet some friends here on our motorcycles for a beer. With no intentions of eating anything we bellied up to the bar. The bartender mentioned that not only were there beer specials. But half off apps. Say whaaa??? Ordered the beef nachos, boom boom shrimp and beef tips. Everything was great. Real restaurant fare. Not what you would expect at a half off bar stop. The nachos were mounded with goodies and had the gooey white cheese I love. The shrimp were huge and the tangy sauce was a perfect compliment. Should have ordered three plates of those. The beef tips were a surprise. Actually cooked to the correct temperature and the meat was tender and delicious even without the side sauce. Went to Midtown last night and ordered 20 wings and asked server to make sure they were well done because we don't like them Chewy. Got the wings and the were still a little chewy but we ate them anyway. When we got the bill there was a $2 charge for each 10 piece wings to make them extra crispy. WTH, the charge you to cook your food well done? The manager took one of the $2 charges off but refused to remove the other. Will never go back to this place again I never once called the manager any names, that is a lie. It's a joke that someone leaves a bad but true review and you threaten to have them arrested if they come back when they already said they would never come back. Management needs more training in the area of customer satisfaction and compassion for their customers that choose to patronize them during this difficult COVID -19 pandemic. On 7/26/2020, I visited the restaurant at the last standing location in Denver, NC. There were a nice handful of people dining. There weren't a lot of empty tables set aside to help with social distancing. My date and I sat at the bar near the pool tables where there wasn't a lot of activity and as long as we sat facing forward over the bar table everything was good. However, once my date began to shoot a game of pool and I had to turn around and place my right arm on the back of the bar stool, I noticed that arm began to itch and started breaking out in a hive like rash. The rash quickly spread over ONLY the part of my arm that had made bare contact with the bar stool. After consulting with my waitress, I requested a manager with the intent only to inform and educate about the importance of sanitizing more frequently. Justin (manager on duty) came out to talk with us but would NOT listen to any of my concerns. His ONLY concern was whether or not we had paid the bill. He ranted on about how staff cleans at the end of the night, ask if we had paid our bill again and said "oh well pay your bill I'm not dealing with this" and walked away. The credit card was sitting on the table and I totally advised him of my intentions which were NOT to get anything free. After several minutes of me asking staff for Justin's last name or the owner/corporate information, Justin returned over to where we were sitting and threatened to call the police (which I definitely encouraged). Once law enforcement arrived, Justin advised them that I never caused any problems, my bill was paid including a tip and that he (Justin/management) just wanted us to leave the establishment. I am an African American woman and my date... an African American man. We were the ONLY black people in the restaurant at that time, which isn't surprising as we are not the dominant population in Denver,NC. Management should Not have been so judgmental as to think we were trying to skip out of an obligation and I can only imagine that's because of my skin tone. The other staff was very understanding toward my concerns and were even apologetic about Justin's attitude, which they said they had problems with as well. If Justin would have had more respect for his staff, he may have inquired and learned that when I was offered to have my meal replaced (only after being asked if I enjoyed my selection not because I complained... food was good just steak was a bit chewy in my Quesadilla) I immediately declined the food replacement understanding the struggle to remain open during these times and knowing that this isn't/wasn't the time for petty issues. Someone so closed minded does not need to be in a position of authority especially during these times of racial tension and under tones. Because of his stereotypes he will cause this business detriment. I have reached out to the news 9 team to report the unclean practices of this restaurant and will not stop until Justice is served up against Mr. Justin. Even the officers agreed that they would go talk to him to explain that it could be a new chemical solution (which I doubt b/c remember there were no issues when my arm was on the table which gets wiped down more frequently). Education and respect for one another is key in these uncertain times as we are all suppose to be in this together. Thank you for reading this and God bless. Stay staff. The hostess was rude when we asked about the situation and sent the manager over to talk to us but by that time there were no tables available. We opted to leave instead after waiting close to 45 minutes. We were the first ones there so it was very frustrating. I would not recommend. Talk about there being "no place like home" well, this hometown hero packs all the fixins for a perfect meal. This was my first time dining in and the customer service was hands down the first thing that got my attention. From the hostess, the server, the owner everyone was so polite and friendly. Turns out this is family operated. It was slightly busy with a concert in town today but, they still took the time to pay attention to the little things. For instance, I asked for a beer and received an ice cold glass workout requesting one. The appetizer was recommended which was the fried pickles and boy it took me back to my childhood. The philly cheesesteak came with fries that were golden and seasoned to perfection. I couldn't choose so the wings were a great touch. They were seasoned just spicy enough with a tangy bbq flavor. Cost to worth it ratio: 2.5 (bit pricier for the area) Highlights: - Weekend hours: open til 2am with full bar and food menu - Space: roomy with a long bar, pool table room, and tables by the bar and raised up area beside it. - Menu: traditional bar aps, slew of wing flavors, salads, sandwiches, and entrees. Also a good amount of beer and liquor choices. - Fish and shrimp: you have the choice of preparation and mine was blackened fish and cajun fried shrimp. Both were tasty and cooked well (not overdone like I was concerned about), but as a nit the blackened seasoning was a bit too salty for me. Lowlights: - Volume: Even though it does offer a nighttime meet up spot, not the place to catch up with friends. There's a band playing that isn't bad but blaringly loud and they seem to have stamina such that they don't need to take breaks, so you're limited to using sign language, yelling, or waiting for the few seconds of down time between songs. - Smoke factor: people can smoke inside so even though our table wasn't , I still came out of there smelling like an ashtray. - Missing hush puppies: I was excited to see this side included on the entrée, but when my plate got there it came without them and had a sole onion ring instead.
