Ordered takeout and unfortunately after returning to our hotel we realized a large portion of our order was incorrect. We ordered a double smash burger with bacon (an extra $2 charge) along with tomatoes, lettuce, and onion. The burger arrived with no bacon and none of the listed veggies. We also ordered a triple smash burger with cheddar cheese and tomatoes, lettuce, and onion -- again, none of the veggies were included. We also ordered a mashed potato bowl with chicken, corn, and brown gravy, but there was no brown gravy in it at all. Even though a lot of our order was missing, I will say the food itself still tasted good. The biggest issue, however, was the customer service. The young girl working there, who looked to be around 16 years old, was extremely rude and snotty. When I asked for plastic utensils, she replied, "We do not have any." I asked how we were supposed to eat mashed potatoes and gravy without utensils, and she shrugged and said, "Ma'am, we are a bar, we do not have it." I responded that I've ordered takeout from many bars before and they always provide plastic utensils. She then sarcastically replied, "Good for you, have a nice day." I tried speaking with who I believed was the manager (he nodded when I asked if he was), and while I was explaining the issue, the young employee continued interrupting and talking over me. Another waitress overheard the conversation and quickly returned with plastic utensils, proving they did in fact have them available. The employee then changed her story, saying she "didn't know" if they had utensils and claimed she was super sweet to me(not rude). There is no reason an employee should be speaking to customers this way. She clearly needs additional customer service training before handling customer interactions on her own. read more

I went to Johnny's Midtown Yard on May 24 to see the remodeled patio, to listen to the music and get a nice Walleye sandwich. When out on the patio I was informed if I wanted a beer I had to go into the bar and get it. Ok, I can do that. At the bar I was informed that I couldn't run a tab, even if I left my card as the bar tender couldn't handle tabs. If I used a card I had to close out on each order. Since I had to close out on each order I asked to also order a Walleye sandwich and pay for that and the beer at the same time. The waitress informed me that she would come out to the patio and take my food order. The waitress brought food to two couples at the table I was setting at. Couple one the ladies order was wrong but the waitress never came back to see if it was correct. Couple two the waitress just dropped the food off, she wasn't even sure it was the correct couple. Every time she was in the area I tried to get her attention to no avail. I finally went home to eat. My experience today at Johnny's was almost as bad as going to the Oxbow. read more

We have now been to Midtown Yard twice, the first time was for lunch several weeks ago & the more recent was for their Tuesday smash burger special. The lunch time (we were there around 2pm) one was great, the food was hot & delicious with the service being excellent keeping in mind it was actually after lunch but still. We finally got them after the trivia game ended. We weren't offered drink refills 2 of us ordered beers, 1 had water 1 had ice tea. I actually walked up to the bar to inquire about our food & was told it was coming right out so I did ask for another beer, it was brought to the table without anyone else being offered a beer/drink. Were we upset over this absolutely! We did have fun with the Trivia Game actually doing better then we thought we would especially without knowing it was happening but if this is a normal event maybe better staffing is in order because we couldn't be the only neglected table there. read more

The couple before us got their own menus. A table of 6-7 came in and she walked right past us and went to them. We walked out. We visited for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was quiet but they were also preparing for a wedding. Despite the restaurant being understaffed our bartender was awesome! She warned us that food might be a little bit longer but she was crushing the bar service between us and the wedding guests coming to order drinks, always with a smile.
