Took a drive to get out of the heat and stopped here to get lunch. We were greeted on arrival and seated. The waitress mentioned they had a fish special, so we decided to try it and a bowl of chili. The decor is classic American diner, lots of roosters and American flags. Cool! Food arrived in about 10 minutes, and looked great and everything was delicious. The cod had a light breading and fresh tasting. The fish plate included a potato, coleslaw and cornbread. The cornbread was okay, a little dry. The chili was a hearty portion and included cheese and onion toppings and crackers. Highly recommended for a nice meal in the pines. read more

Came up to Pine on a Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving for some off roading fun on the trails. It was our first time at this restaurant. It's a pretty big place inside, lots of tables and vinyl upholstered booths. It was pretty busy, but service was quick and friendly. We ordered and the food came out so fast! Food was hot, portions are big! And it all was really tasty. This is what a breakfast diner in the mountains should be. We'll definitely be coming back! read more

So I just wanted to share my experience at this little café - it's nothing fancy, just your typical café vibe. But honestly, the food was a total surprise! We got the chicken fried steak, and it was pretty darn good - nice and flavorful! The bacon was perfectly cooked (I know, shocking, right? Haha!). I had to say that cause believe it or not I have had bad bacon places not sure how you can mess bacon up, but some places do, And the country fried potatoes were delicious, with yummy onions in them. Just a heads-up though, if you're craving a mimosa or bloody Mary.with your breakfast, this might not be the place. Overall, I have this place 3 stars, mostly because of the service and food. It seems like it could be a really cute place, but when we went there around 10 am this morning, we felt pretty rushed. Our server was very nice, and she was quick, but didn't give very great service. We were given our check very quickly after the food arrived, and we didn't see her at all after, so we weren't able to order anything else. I will say tho, food came out very fast. But there's a reason for that. The food was honestly pretty mediocre, and very bland. Not to mention everything was all on one plate that probably should've had a second. Do not eat the muffins, I was very disappointed. Dry :( Last thing I wanted to mention, was the cleanliness. Granted, it is Memorial Day weekend, but when we went, it wasn't super busy. Dark, dingy, and old atmosphere. Bench seating should have been replaced a decade ago... cracked and peeling vinyl cushions that you literally sink into when you sit in them. Waitress was rude and robotic in her demeanor. I would rate the eggs benedict that I ordered at about two and a half out of five... definitely nothing to write home about. Service was impeccable and this place is a well oiled machine and definitely do business right! They have an outdoor area to dine in so that was just lovely on a beautiful early Sunday morning breakfast. Coffee was ok, but everything else was stellar. Was in Pine for my quarterly visit the other day and literally every food provider was closed. I was starving and Early Bird was open so I went. I was sort of greeted and led to a table that needed cleaning. No biggie. I was brought water by the young gal who sat me; she was also the only person to refill it for me. Eventually my server arrived and literally only asked for my order, which was the open face hot turkey sandwich. My food arrived about 20 minutes after ordering and my server merely slid it in front of me. Didn't ask if I needed anything else and never came back except to slide the check in front of me. Not sure if it was a bad day; I try to give the benefit of the doubt but... The food however, was worth it. Juicy turkey, REAL MASHED POTATO and yummy seasonal veggies. We came up to Pine to escape the heat for a few days. We went on a hike and through the craft fair and ran upon Early bird cafe. I'm so happy we did! They give very large portions. I could barely eat half. They have a breakfast special that's 2 eggs, hash browns or breakfast potato's and bread or a pancake with corned beef hash for $13.99. I found it reasonably priced due to the amount of food. I loved the ambiance. Very small town feel and small. The servers are extremely nice and it is family owned. And pup friendly restaurant in Pine!!! Stopped for breakfast on our way out of Strawberry/Pine after an awesome weekend away from the valley. Ordered the Ham Steak with home fries and a biscuit and Eggs Benedict with extra done home fries. Giving them 5 stars because we loved this place from the minute we showed up to the end and paying our bill! We lucked out because there was a table open in the corner of the patio so our dogs were out of the way. The table needed to be bussed but the hostess was on it and directed us to enter through the patio gate. We lucked out all the way around because we got parking up front, this awesome table outside and everyone was so nice and friendly! Our server (so sorry we didn't get her name) was great and efficient. The food was so good! Home fries were well seasoned and I asked to have mine a tad crispy and chef delivered. Their hollandaise sauce was creamy and buttery and I squeezed more lemon juice into it but only because I love it lemon forward. The ham on the Benedict is actually ham and not the Canadian bacon so many use. Really made for a hardy breakfast. And another personal preference is toastier English muffins. No complaints for the ham and eggs and that ginormous biscuit! So fluffy and soft and with butter smeared on it...perfection! They were busy with lots of people waiting their turn. Ok, for a roadside stop this food was so good: the French toast was better than a lot I have eaten at "fancier" spots. And bacon was cooked exactly how I liked it too. The vibe there is pretty straight forward like a diner--nothing fancy and the booths weee pretty embers up but it was clean! Our server was so sweet. Seems like the whole town comes here for breakfast. It's just one of those places, the town's favorite diner. I had the Big Bird Breakfast. Talk about massive. 3 eggs, choice of bacon, ham, or sausage (I had ham), hash browns or home fries (I had the home fries), 2 pancakes or full biscuit and gravy or 1 pancake and 1 biscuit and gravy (I had the one each). Boy, I'm full just thinking about this meal again. I'm under the belief that no one leaves this place hungry. Everything was excellent and enjoyable. Nice comfortable diner. The service was friendly. I really want to return and try their other breakfast and lunch items. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Oh my, this little hole in the wall gem is popular for a reason! What a treat for a small town diner breakfast during our visit! A brief wait, less than 5 minutes & we were seated in a giant booth. It could have fit a party of 6 easily. The entire atmosphere was very cozy, welcoming. Decorated like a traditional roadside diner. This is a popular spot for a reason- there's absolutely no way you can find anything less than awesome, here. The service is outstanding. They greet you upon arrival, seat you promptly, lovely personalities with the table interaction. It was such a pleasant morning enjoying breakfast here. While we each ordered something different & tried a bite of each other's, I seriously stick by my option. Biscuits & gravy is actually a bit hard to find these days! But, low & behold... I tried the enhanced version with an egg & sausage. It did not disappoint! Absolutely loved the dish- and the homemade biscuits made it even better. This was the real deal! The omelette was packed absolutely full of veggies & had a great consistency. It was more than plentiful for us to share a few bites! And that stack of a "side" of pancakes was literally enough for another entire meal!! We each split those & they were perfection across the board. One opted for the oatmeal- that bowl was also so big she could have made several meals out of it! And, it looked delicious. Just like Grandma's homemade would be served up. Both the hashbrowns & home fries were good, as well. Every aspect of the meal was on point. This was truly the best breakfast I've had in a long time! Was super excited to try this. Saw the recommendation on an ad while staying at the Strawberry Inn! We arrived around 8:50am and parking lot looked full so expected a wait. Although, luckily, there was an open booth inside, outside and seats at the counter, but we opted for outside because the weather here is perfect (it's a cool breeze and sunny 66 degrees out!). There was a bit of a wait for our order being taken, which was fine (although we didn't expect it). The menu looks great, has some classics. I opted for the big breakfast (comes with 3 eggs, meat, potatoes, and pancake or biscuits), and my lover ordered French toast breakfast that comes with 2 eggs, meat (he got sausage) and the toast. We absolutely could have split either of our breakfasts, they were huge! You can tell they add vanilla to the batters, it makes such a difference! The pancake was massive and oh so light and fluffy, and the French toast was perfectly cooked. The ham steak was a large oval and the sausage was also delicious. The biscuits and gravy had a nice sauce consistency, although I enjoyed the flavor, my partner said it could have used more salt / pepper (a quick fix of course with shakers). Unfortunately the potato's I had were overly seasoned & salted. I couldn't eat them, I think they just weren't mixed well all the way.. I found a few that weren't overly coated and those, the crispiness and flavor were great. Good for a nice breakfast in strawberry/pine area... would probably try somewhere else before coming back, although I would definitely come back. A classic diner in the heart of Pine! This spot is reminiscent of small town Midwest USA, which is where my husband and I are from. The eclectic decor felt comforting. We had no trouble getting a table for two on a Saturday morning before venturing out to hike. The menu is huge! Lots of options to choose from, and as I mentioned, a classic diner. There are no frills on this menu. Just good, old fashioned, comfort-food! I couldn't make up my mind, so I ordered the half portion of French toast, two eggs, and bacon (or sausage) meal. My husband ordered the biscuit stack - a gigantic biscuit, two eggs, and two sausage Pattie's smothered in gravy. This also came with either hash browns or home fries - my husband got the hash browns. I loved my French toast! It wasn't overly sweet, it was perfect. It was a little on the burnt side, which I secretly love. The bacon was perfectly crispy, and the fried eggs I got tasted delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his meal as well (biscuits and gravy is not my jam, so I only tried a bite). I loved his hash browns too!! They were perfectly crispy! Perhaps my favorite part of the meal was the random piece of fruit you get. It was the perfect compliment to the breakfast food. The portions are HUGE and everything is reasonably priced! Service was just ok. Our server was not very friendly, and never checked on us once someone else brought our food. Its pretty hard to get excited about standard diner breakfast. The Early Bird is no exception to this rule. Their menu has all the basics you would expect and nothing more. The service was quick and friendly. The prices are modest. The portions were ample. The fruit was fresh and tasty, The eggs were oily and unseasoned (try them with some house salsa). The house made biscuits are immense but unremarkable in taste. The building is old and creaky without any of the accompanying charm. The place was busy with locals & tourists. The parking lot was full. We sat at a high top table and was asked for our drink order right away. The server was a little slower, but she was also taking care of the dining area to the right so it kept her running around. The food came out quick and was pretty good. The "large stack" for biscuits and gravy is really large and my husband was not able to finish it. I loved the thick and yummy bacon, but my 1/2 French toast order was a little hard to cut, even with a knife. If you want to fuel up early before your outdoor adventures, stop by since they're open the earliest in the area. It was even recommended by the owner of the Lavender Farm. #supportlocal read more

This place was a big disappointment for me. The main turn off was the service, they have poor customer service here. Servers seemed unhappy when the place gets busy. The person who served us sounded robotic taking our orders, doesn't even smile, we felt like we're a burden coming here. Their food is okay, nothing special, just a typical breakfast place in a small town. Too bad my husband liked their cinnamon roll, but I will not be coming back to this restaurant because of their service. This place was busy when we got there.
