Midway Bowl had been advertising a "$2 Tuesday Mardi Gras Edition" on social media and honestly... cheap bowling plus themed fun sounded like the perfect way to celebrate Mardi Gras, unwind after work, and laugh my way through a Tuesday night with my adventure buddy. Say less. I was READY. Being the responsible planner that I am, I tried to reserve a lane ahead of time online...only to be prompted to pay $70 to reserve one bowling lane. On $2 Tuesday. My brain immediately went, "Ma'am, something is not mathing here." So instead of rage-clicking checkout, I messaged Midway Bowl for clarification. To their credit, they responded quickly and explained that daily specials are first-come, first-served only and can only be redeemed in person. Slightly annoying if you're driving any distance, but, we decided to roll the dice and show up anyway. We walked in and I was fully hyped for Mardi Gras bowling. I had been talking about this for DAYS. And then... Front desk guy: "No clue what you're talking about. Maybe the bar." Me, internally: Sir. The Facebook post. The graphics. The vibes. The expectations. None of this was a fever dream. Because literally, HOURS before I walked in the door, they posted on Facebook: "Today is the day! Come join us from 6-10 pm for our Mardi Gras themed $2 Tuesday!" I did not dream this up! But okay. It's fine. I'll throw my own Mardi Gras party in my head. No problem. There were Mardi Gras-themed drink names at the Sparetime Lounge bar, but it was packed thanks to trivia night, so we pivoted to snacks and bowling -- which ended up being the real MVP move anyway. Let me tell you about the snack bar because WOW. Two orders of tacos (four tacos total at $1 each), six boneless wings in garlic parmesan sauce ($2), a 12" pepperoni flatbread pizza ($8), and two fountain sodas ($3 each) came to a grand total of $20.84. And the food? Actually GOOD. Not "this is acceptable for a bowling alley" good -- legitimately good. Also shoutout to the snack bar staff member who immediately understood what I meant when I mentioned the $2 specials, because for a minute I thought I had collectively imagined the entire promotion. Bowling itself was an absolute steal -- two games plus shoe rentals for $12 total. And I have to say, Midway Bowl is probably the cleanest, most modern bowling alley I've ever stepped into. Bright, welcoming, lively -- none of that sad, dusty bowling alley energy. Someone clearly cares about this place. So here's the deal: the marketing got me excited for a full-on Mardi Gras themed experience, but in reality, it was just regular $2 Tuesday bowling with some festive drink names floating around. Which is totally fine -- just not quite the "Mardi Gras Edition" I had built up in my head. Would I go back? Absolutely -- just with adjusted expectations and maybe my own beads next time. They're celebrating their 70th anniversary, and it shows in how well they maintain the space. And honestly? Cheap bowling, good food, and a night full of laughs is never a bad time. read more

Overall, I would recommend this place. It's sad, but I think bowling alleys themselves are dying out. We came here for father's day. I was looking for duckpin bowling which I discovered is slightly different here than in most places. Maybe it's the norm for PA, I'm not sure. The lanes are much smaller and kid like, so we did it for an hour, then switched over to regular bowling. The prices are higher online if you reserve a lane than if you just walk in. I called first to see how busy they were, and they weren't so we just paid there and saved a few dollars that way. We all had a good time because we made the most of it. We ordered pizza, chicken tenders, onion rings, and sodas all fairly decent what you would expect from a bowling alley. The place was very clean and so were the bathrooms. It was on a Sunday night so it seemed kind of quiet. I hope they get more business on other days and times of the week because this is a very nice place to go and it wasn't busy at all. read more

A great place for a winter weather, couples night out. Our group had a good time. Everything was priced fair in my opinion. We order one of everything off the menu (or close to) and it was all the typical bar food quality. Bar tender was friendly and the drinks were good from what I was told. I had went into midway today with family and I think we could all agree that it was far from a good experience. Many employees were VERY unprofessional, talking about me and my family simply because they don't like us. Normally this isn't something tha would bother me but it was to the point that it was hard for us to enjoy our bowling experience. Food is surprisingly good, prices are also surprisingly good. Highly recommend the shrimp tacos, grilled brisket & cheese and pizzas. The bartender,Courtney, was extremely friendly and efficient despite having a full bar. Great food, excellent service. When you're done eating there's TONS of stuff to do!!! My husband and I went here with our 2 daughters. We all had a lot of fun. It was a little pricey but worth it. They have lots of activities to do and games to play other than bowling. They accommodated our young kids with bumpers, they even had a Dino thing to help them roll it down the lane. read more

We stopped in for dinner before Rock & Bowl, it was a very busy Friday night, we were a large group and thought it would be a problem. Lisa waited on us in the lounge, we were pleasantly surprised! She was friendly, fast and very efficient! We were surprised how quickly we got our large and complicated order. she brought extra plates for the kids to mix & match appetizers, checked back with us often and just made us feel very welcomed. The menu is small but varied, the food was delicious. It started our bowling out on such a nice note. My friends and I (10 others) got cut off on New Year's Eve because of simple laziness from the 1 and only bartender. Not a single one of us were visibly intoxicated. Loving this place! Great atmosphere and service. The food is surprisingly really good. Kayla was my server twice now. She is personable and attentive. Both visits, a gentleman (maybe the owner) stopped to see how everything was and expressed his appreciation for our business. That small gesture is a huge deal! So glad we have such a great place to meet with friends and enjoy music, food and drinks. Recommend the wing dust wings and the wedge salad. When I was a kid, I bowled every Saturday in a league back in my small country town as I grew up. Bowling alleys are a lost art form in our modern era, but when my wife and I took our little guy to Midway, it was like I was transported back to those days when I bowled with my friends. As a bowling alley, the place is pretty big - we were one of the first families in to bowl the afternoon we went in, and even though it started to fill up as we played, it didn't feel too crowded (and we even had people bowling next to us). It felt well maintained and clean - something that isn't always a given when it comes bowling alleys! They had the ramps for little kids to use and the alleys worked great. The only "one star deduction" I could find was a combination of what I see as "tough economic times" measures this alley has: open primarily in the evenings only, and expensive food. I'm sure it isn't financially sustainable to stay open all day, every day, but over the summer, it's a shame that we can't bowl during the week until 4:00pm. I paid over $6.00 for a single order of mozzarella sticks (my bowling alley staple snack) which, for the quality, wasn't really worth it to me. I guess these are the times we live in though, and if that's what it takes to keep a functioning bowling alley in my community, then I'll learn to deal with it! The blonde bartender is nice or not nice depending on the day. She also whispers about patrons to the one other girl who works there. Why whisper about your patrons? That is a little unnerving. I'm not even that interesting! The wings were okay but some were overcooked and even burnt on the bottom. A burnt wing should never be served as part of an order of wings. I have to say that the leaps and bounds that this bowling alley has taken in the last year.. Hell even last 2 or 3 months is incredible.. There are all new modernized flat screen displays overhead which I think make a huge difference.. The bar and front desk areas have been re-done to modernize the place.. It has a much more fun and laid back vibe compared to a sorry place you go to drown your sorrows.. The new staff which it seems has been overhauled is awesome and always willing to go the extra mile for you.. Worst bowling experience ever. We started in 1 lane and had problems immediately. Balls wouldnt return, then pins wouldnt reset. So they moved us to another lane, and still had nothing but problems. Came here for our sons birthday, and will not be returning. read more

Under new ownership, I believe. The changes are in progress, and I like what I had seen on Sunday. I have been going here since the 70's, as my parents were in a church bowling league in those days. Our boys enjoyed themselves. The people in attendance were all family oriented, which is a positive. The couple in the lane beside us had an adorable little girl, so we talked kids most of the time. Our boys had a great time, and I look forward to going back and seeing more improvements. I gave it a 3 star, just because it's a work in progress. The renovations look really good and have refreshed the bowling alley a good bit. I like to take my wife and sons and grab some pizza, soda, and bowl a couple games. The pizza is quite good and is on par with some of the better pizza spots around here. Besides the pool tables, they now have ping pong and a foosball table.
