We are staying in OKI for a long week/weekend, so we needed to go to the grocery, we decided to try Midway for dinner. I am SO glad we did! They serve Beer and Wine if you are interested The menu had a good variety(in my opinion)--I sampled the Alfredo sauce before deciding and I'm glad I decided to get the Chicken Alfredo (create your own pasta bowl I believe it's called-but added the chicken for an up charge). It was a huge bowl of thin spaghetti ( I LOVE diff noodles in pasta dishes and the chicken and Alfredo sauce were sooo good! This little place is a gem. The chef salad was delicious and fresh, and huge! The 1000 island dressing tasted homemade. The patti melt was perfectly prepared on a bread that was toasted, flavorful goodness. The fries and onion rings were crispy and tasty. Nothing dripped of grease: everything was loaded with flavor. Stopped in for lunch yesterday and were very impressed. The staff was all wearing their masks properly and the seating was set up in a very socially distanced manner. Our waitress Tiffany was great from the start, she was very informative and patient while we decided on our meal. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings, my husband the meatloaf plate with mashed potatoes and mushrooms and onions. We also shared a basket of sweet potato fries. The burger was juicy and presented well and large enough I could not finish it. All of the fried foods were exactly the right amount of crispy- not greasy. My husband enjoyed his meatloaf tremendously and left nothing on his plate. Tiffany checked in often making sure drinks were refilled and seeing if we needed anything else. As we were finishing up the restaurant started getting busy closer to noontime but we never felt rushed to leave the table. We finished up our meal and left full, happy and well taken care of. We will certainly return to what we would describe as an elevated diner next time we visit Oak Island. Way to go Midway Grille and extra thanks to Tiffany who was probably the best waitress we've had in months. Note: they serve wine and beer but not cocktails. We had the caprese and Monterey chicken. Both were well cooked and very juicy, not overdone. I had rice and green beans on the side and both were delicious. My wife had macaroni and cheese which was was very good as well. The service was great and our food arrived quickly even though they were very busy. I tried this place for dinner last night. Not much atmosphere hard wooden benches and chairs. Limited selection of beer and wine. I ordered a fish sandwich which came with chips and a pickle for $10. I also paid extra for a side order of coleslaw. The 2 chunks of fish came on a simple hamburger bun. That's it. No lettuce or tomatoes, no sauce of any kind. I requested tartar and the reply was not certain they had any. Wow. Waitress said she usually added ketchup. Ew. They found me some tartar and finally remembered my chips. Worth waiting for homemade chips? No, right out of a bag. The fish was tasty and well prepared but the staff constantly cane back and interrupted our conversation no less than 20 times to ask how it was. I lied and said it was fine to make them go away. The coke slaw was good but I would not go back. Had one beer and the check with tip was $20. No not going back. read more

Ok first of all this place is delicious! My kid is a picky eater and almost never eats at restaurants but loves this place. It could also have a lot to do with the staff. I couldn't say enough good things about Tori and Elizabeth. They are the only 2 servers we've had but I'm sure the others are amazing as well. The atmosphere is welcoming and neighborly. First time here after hearing many accolades. I had corn chowder soup and my husband chili. Both were very good. We both had the chicken caprese with two sides and really enjoyed it.
