First time at this location. We had a reservation at 8pm but we didn't get sat till almost 9pm. It was a little frustrating. I've been to the Chandler location as well. The vibes are slightly different. The Phoenix one has more upbeat type of music which I do liked. We got sat and I ordered an old fashion. Felt like drinks took a while to arrive as well. At this point we only had 45 min or so before they did last call or closed. We ordered the shrimp aquachili. It was slightly different than the one I had in Chandler. But it was still good We both ordered the carne asada plate. It was good. Overall the experience was ok at this location. Didnt liked how we waited that long to be sat with a reservation and limited time to actually enjoyed the time there.

The service was mediocre, the manager's stress level showed in how she treated us at the hostess station. She was even rude to the hostess who was running around like she was confused. Had we not walked a mile to get there after not getting into the first restaurant we came downtown for, normally we would have exited immediately after that poor first encounter. Overall: The carne asada was good but The food and drinks were overpriced and the service was not at the level for the price point.

First time visiting Miel de Agave in Phoenix, and overall the food and service did not disappoint. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with dim lighting and individual table lights creating an solid dining experience. Live music later in the evening/week adds a fun energy and elevated the nightlife vibe. Our server Marcia was attentive, knowledgeable, and provided excellent menu recommendations throughout the night. Entrées - Ribeye Aguachile ($24) - drenched in a bold, spicy salsa with the perfect balance of heat, acidity, and tanginess with a Tapatío-like kick. - Never Before Risotto ($34) - despite not containing mexican rice, this dish delivered a elote-inspired experience. Rich, creamy, and topped with five shrimp scampi. Cocktail - Classic Old Fashioned ($22) - smoky, smooth, and well-balanced, pairing perfectly with the meal. Few noticable areas that could use attention is restroom maintenance and fruit fly/gnat presence. During our visit, the restrooms appeared unclean, out of toilet-paper, and drenched hand towels at the sink. Surrounding our seating area were gnats which were persistent enough at the table and needed to be swatted away from our plates. MdA would benefit from more frequent attention throughout service hours to better reflect the quality of the restaurant. Overall, Miel de Agave offers unique flavors, handcrafted cocktails, and a vibrant atmosphere. With a little more attention to restroom upkeep, the experience would be even better. Will return in the future.

Late night Father's Day pick that turned out great! Service was fast and the food was hot and tasty! I also enjoyed my cucumber highball very refreshing. The ambiance was dark and sultry. Loved it!

So I needed another bloody Mary but I couldn't find the spot. I came by here months ago for a lunch with friends as it popped up on my Yelp but it was closed.. I then was like ok let's try it I see a Michelada in my future meal plans. So I had the ceviche let the church say amen fresh fresh did I say fresh. The huge fresh shrimp perfectly cooked and avocado yes on top of the Ceviche. Michelada excellent. I also had there green chili enchiladas with steak, the tortillas taste freshly made I give the dish a 3 but based on my taste I like more of a tangy tomatillo for my green chili sauce. They were good just unexpected. If you want a more creamy sauce then it'll meat your taste buds. I definitely recommend

No official parking nearby so would recommend taking public transport or ride share, got lucky with street parking ~0.3 miles away. Also tough to figure out how to get in. Once in the vibes were cool with very friendly staff. The food was also really good and reasonably priced. Overall would recommend going.

My friend and I walked in as the restaurant was opening for lunch and were seated immediately. It was not super busy. The waitress, Marcia, was kind and very knowledgeable of the menu - including offering a barcode on the back to look at how each item was prepared. The service was 5 stars. The food (which is how I rate a restaurant): we ordered the ribeye aguachile for an appetizer, which was very flavorful, tender, and had a little kick. We enjoyed it a lot. We wanted the pork belly but it wasn't ready. For our meals, we ordered the quesabirria. It was a little oily with less cheese than I am accustomed. It also was a little soggy in some areas. The sauces were good that accompanied them. *** Overall, I'd come back to try more menu items!

This is a must try in Phoenix! Exceptional customer service, Marcia gave us the best recommendations & everything we tried was delicious. I would comeback and order the same thing again. Very fun restaurant that has great drinks. We weren't 100% sure on what to order so the server brought us 5 of their most popular appetizers and everyone of them was great. We got the pork belly, elote, ribeye, and a few others! For dinner most of us had steak which was amazing especially since it comes with a quesadilla what a nice little paring! I would definitely go at night it almost looks like Cabo when you walk in! One thing didn't love was I would say it's a $$ to $$$ restaurant and they had the toast POS in their hands while taking orders. Such a small thing but I don't think this restaurant is casual enough for that especially with it being higher end Mexican.

Make a reservation! Tried to walk in but they are so busy we had to book a table for the next night. The guacamole was delicious, but very pricey. I have never spent $18 on guacamole but it was worth trying once - would probably not order again. However, the elote was excellent and I would recommend it. All the entrees were very flavorful, maybe a tad salty, but everything was well cooked and portions were very fair. One thing to note is the seating is a little crowded and the restaurant is very loud inside, which makes it difficult to converse.

May 1 , Friday 7:00pm The hostess was horrible. We walked in and she told us they were not taking any walk ins just reservations. Never cared to tell us how to make on or help us with making one .. we left and made a reservation for 8:45 online. We came back same host attended us and turns out reservations were behind 30-40 min! It just didn't make sense. Thankfully they had a table on the patio and we got sat within 10 min of our reservation. Sitting in the patio though you dont get the fullest experience with the music and pretty walls ect.. the food was great I have no complaints there and the server Juan was too.

We were in the area for my son's graduation, and we just searched good food near us! This place popped up and waw all I can say is the presentation from walking up to entering is amazing! Very great vibe and the hostess were very kind and commentating as a party of 5 with no reservations they worked with us and sat us in their patio area. Very nice setting inside and out, we had Jorge as a server and I just have to say THE ABSOLUTE BEST SERVICE EVER! He was knowledgeable about the menu gave wonderful recommendations on food and drinks. He was honestly one of the best waiters we have had in a long time, checking in on how the food was, refills on drinks and he even surprised my son with a cheese cake and poster for graduation! Such a cool touch to set up our night! We had birria tacos with the great sauce and beans, three green sour cream steak enchiladas with a tasty salad and burger and fries! A few shots of don julio and a couple Mexican candy shots that Jorge recommended for me since I didn't want anything too harsh or strong! That was the BEST SHOT I EVER HAD! And will now be my go to!!! We will be back for more delicious food and great service! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

My new favorite Mexican spot. Everyone is really friendly and the vibes are chill. Parking is easy- enter behind Pomo. We did a bunch of appetizers- queso fundito con chilorio, guacamole with steak and pork belly chicharons, elote (omfg so good), and empanadas. The right balance of gourmet and sensible. It's so pretty inside and I'm excited to come back to try their cocktails- they look interesting and new. A great addition to the area! YUM!!! As lovers of Mexican and Central American food this menu had us really excited...especially cause we don't eat meat and it seemed like we would have several interesting options. We started with cocktails. I had La Miel and and my partner had the Callejon del Beso. Very tasty but they took quite a while to come out. They were pretty busy at the bar so it was understandable. Then we decided to order three appetizers, as they were all vegetarian friendly and sounded really good! We ordered "I Love Guacamole" the Mexico City Elote and the Empanaditas de Huitlacoche. The guac, although pretty basic was very flavourful and the chips were fresh and crispy. The real show stoppers were the elote and the empanaditas!! Like so much so that we ordered a second elote and got too excited to take a pic of the empanaditas. Lol They're both a MUST order! The appetizers were so good that we didn't ever order a main. I usually wouldn't have ordered a dessert but my partner has a thing for fried ice cream and this one did not disappoint! It was delicious and drizzled with fresh caramel. The back patio was the perfect setting for such a great meal and our waiter, Alejandro, was great, despite being very busy. All in all it was a great evening. read more

My friend and I came to visit on a Sunday night, and the moment we walked in, it was an experience. Beautiful interior with a jazz player in the background, you won't want to leave. The two highlights of the night were our server, Cade, who was very knowledgeable about the menu, and his recommendations (the ribeye aguachile and steak sonoran tacos), which were top tier. As a server myself who is very attentive and picky about service, Cade really stood out with his witty character and always appeared before we knew we needed him. The plates and drinks are delicious! Bone Marrow: YUM!! I could eat this all day. They make it so easy to eat. Must try. I loved this the best. La diskada skillet: there's all kinds of meats in this little skillet. Corn tortillas are yummy!! It looks small but it's incredibly filling. Great for an upcoming night of drinking. Callejon del Beso: YUM! I'm so glad the manager came around to the table to explain this unique drink. Find the small yellow flower part, take a tiny bite. Experience the tingle it leaves then take another sip of your cocktail. AMAZING!! it really lightens up the drink so much more. The feeling lasts for a minute or so. Agavero: they put some work into this cocktail. It's so fun! They give you a glass with hibiscus in it then a bottle with the alcohol. Beautifully presented. It's kind of strange... they had English radio music instead of Spanish dancing music playing in the background. If you stay late enough, they have live performances and DJs, turn the restaurant into a dancing area. Pro tip: explore the online menu before going in, there's pictures online but the menu is all words. read more

Came to enjoy a pre show dinner here on a Sunday afternoon around 5:30. We were quickly sat and attended to by our waitress but that's about where the service ended. It was apparent they were understaffed but they were doing their best to accommodate all the guest between food runners and bussers. If you check-in on Yelp you get a free margarita which was very good but I only had one as I was never asked if I wanted another. I included pics of our entrees which were both very flavorful and delicious. Their infamous birria tacos lived up to hype as they were packed with meat and cheese. We also tried the bone marrow app which wasn't for us but it was our first time having bone marrow so if you're into it be my guest. Overall, food is very good and the ambiance could be fun on a Friday night, just be prepared for slow service. read more

This place is simply amazing. I am thankful for places like this available when you're out w the girls and you want something different. They have some kind of front patio full of art. Drinks to dream for. Music that would keep you there all night an a menu that made me regret eating before getting there. I went early on their opening times, so I could see they were not ready for such traffic. It was super crowded. Our food never arrived. I was so disappointed. I had ordered the bone marrow... I left with a taste for it. In all fairness, the server did tell us it would be an hour wait. All I can think about is that they need more staff. They had the only Latino rock band I've ever known of in Phoenix, & they were good. I may just need to come back for the menu...& I'm ok with that read more

Visiting Phoenix and stumbled across this restaurant when exploring downtown. There was a couple waiting prior to opening which made us curious. We ordered queso fundido skillet with braised pork, a side of bone marrow, infamous quesabirria, and the cheesecake brownie and they were all amazing. All cheese lovers should try the queso fundido skillet, which consists of melted Mexican cheese with your choice of roasted chili verde/corn, chili's braised pork or chorizo. This was really filling for the 2 of us. The infamous quesabirria have 3 different sauces to pair with. All super flavorful and a joy to experience. The sauce for the bone marrow was very strong (cilantro based) and slightly spicy. The drinks are yummy but super strong. One is enough. Get a DD when coming here. The waitress was nice and detailed when explaining popular dishes. read more

15 minutes for waters and a cocktail upon sitting. No app plate. I had to get up to an empty table to get my silverware and napkins . Entrees came at the same time as apps, and we had barely any room on table. Music turned off on the patio mid experience. 20 minutes to receive check. Server stood there and watched me enter the tip into the iPad, which I did still leave her over 20 percent although she was rarely to be found, and service was awful . The ambiance is perfect for a date night. There was a live saxophone player that created a romantic atmosphere, and the food was very good. Very very underwhelming experience here. We had reservations so we were sat right away but the service was sooooo slow. Our food would be sitting under the hot area to be picked up forever we could see it everytime. I got my food 10 min before my table. The food is expensive for what you get. I got shrimp empanadas for $20. They were good but not $20 worth. My drink I will say was very very good. read more

This place is good but not worth the price. Most drinks are $22-$25. The berry drink I got was half Topo Chico, and it was too sweet. The ribeye appetizer is good but SO spicy; it blew my pallet. The chicken Sonora tacos were not good. The chicken was so dry and there was nothing in the taco to balance that such as a sour cream or avocado. We also ordered the $75 short rib dish. The short rib was great and the cheese quesadillas to dip in the sauce/broth was a nice touch. The accompanying bone marrow was the worst I've ever had. All fat and no flavor. Leave that off, charge the dish at $55, and it'd be worth it. The tres leches dessert was amazing! Highly recommend! As far as atmosphere, the music was way too loud and we could barely hear ourselves or our waitress. Not an overall bad experience but not an amazing one, especially considering the prices. read more

Not sure that that really constitutes as a happy hour menu... I asked him why they changed the menu and he put up his hands as if to say he's not to blame and said he doesn't have anything to do with those decisions. He said that "management decided to make a few substitutions but they're pretty good" and didn't provide any further elaboration. I ordered the appetizer lamb lollipops which had four small pieces for $25. My friend decided to try the "happy hour" cheeseburger and he said it was good but it did appear a bit overpriced for an average burger with a pretty hefty serving of french fries. I really wasn't impressed by the quality of the food, the portion size, the price, or the service. Unfortunately, I'll be taking Rough Rider off my list of regular places i frequent and restaurants I recommend to others.

It was tiny, though--served in a small stemmed glass, gone in a few sips. It did the job, but some may find the portion underwhelming for the price. No major complaints, but nothing pulling me back either. I'm adding a fourth star on a bit of a hunch--I'd like to think they can dial it back in if I return.

I got the Pyro Cheeseburger, she got the Sweet Potato Hash, and we got the Ube Panna Cotta for dessert. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and had a great time here. All of the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Definitely consider booking your next table here and you will not regret it!

This was my first time here and we were seated almost immediately. That was nice. If you decide to try it out, go around 7:30 wasn't packed. Our hostess was very sweet but attentiveness was not a strong suit. Our overall experience would be zero stars for the restaurant and how it's managed, if it were possible. 1. Our drink order was taken 10 min after being seated. It took a very long time to get any drink to the table this is water included. Unfortunately, we never received a few of the signature drinks that were ordered. Those drink are $20-$25. Also if you get beer there is an additional $2 charge. They couldn't explain that charge to us. Weird. 2. Food came out, not cold but not warm. Trying to not be harsh but not what was expected for $175 dish. The meat had very little flavor. The bone had little to no marrow. Also was missing food that was ordered. 3. There was one dish that was really nasty and it was El Aguachile. It was only agua, and I'm trying to be polite as possible. We asked for something else instead. 4. Bacon wrapped pepper shrimp poppers were good. 5. The manager was walking around and was asking how our experience was and my niece said horrible before his attention was directed to someone walking by. So when he turned back she brushed it off and looked the other way. 6. Manager made the hostess (don't like the word server ) bribe us with free desert if we left a yelp. So we said wonderful, a bill that is over $1200 with missing drinks and food, it should come with desert. 7. We made our reservation at 7:30. It took them til 11:45 to give us our check. No we weren't just sitting having a good time. At one point the employees came up to us letting us know that after 11:30 every single person in the restaurant will be getting a charge of $25 for a band that they had playing that night. Once we got the hostess attention she pushed back, now making our experience in perspective of her least satisfactory. She answered me, and I quote "let me provide bottle service to the table behind you because they're getting antsy and I'll come right over". They had just arrived, and I'm not kidding, 5-7 minutes before asking for the check, which was very disappointing to get that response from her. Still didn't see her and the band had started playing. We were asked to move from the table for another party and to avoid the $25 charge. Once we all pull out our payment methods they declined one of us for having $300 cash. At this point I thought we were being Punk'd, but Ashton Kutcher never came out. This is a very new restaurant and we did highly consider that. But we are NEVER go back. The hostess was condescending and rude, speaking to us in a way that felt dismissive and unnecessarily forceful regarding our reservation. The weather delay day from hell led us here (along with a favorable Yelp review). 5 hour delay from Seattle, diverted to CA and then the dance to get to the rental car terminal was intense . Needless to say, we were drained. Upon arrival, we sat in the bar simply looking for great food and drink. Jorge came to our rescue. Wow, this little hole in the wall is amazing. We had the quesabirria and octopus tacos, which both were to die for. I loved that the octopus had grilled Pineapple and pickled onions, and the consume that came with the Quesabirria was some of the best I've ever had. We started the meal with the empenaditas de huitlacoche which, for the uninitiated, are made with a special corn that has grown a certain fungal growth that is not only hard to find in the US but also a particularly delicious delicacy.
