Went to see the formula 1 race 2 sundays ago and we stopped here for our first time for some lunch! So glad we did, we've had BBQ outside the city but first time in the city. It kind of reminded me of Beecher's mac and cheese as it was incredibly creamy. - Brussel Sprouts - I was a big fan of this brussel sprouts as it was baked to perfection. It was very crispy on the outside and had a good vinegar flavor to balance out the heartiness of the vegetable. - Brisket Sandwich - This turned out more to be of a slider than a full on sandwich which was a bit disappointing, but it still made me very full. The brisket itself had a good smokey flavor and adding the pickled vegetables and the BBQ sauces definitely elevated the taste. I usually don't leave online reviews but this seems to be a recurring issue with this location. They have poorly trained, uncaring staff. I work near this location and have ordered many times before. For the last three take out orders, however, the servers have neglected to include some item we ordered. The first time they didn't add the sides of coleslaw. The second time I ordered I made sure to check the bag and sure enough, no coleslaw again but at least I caught it before leaving. The third time I checked and lo, there it was! So all good right? Nope, when I got back to the office I find that although there was plenty of coleslaw there was no bun for my pulled pork sandwich. It would be comical if it wasn't such an inconvenience, especially at the prices they charge. If you read the reviews here, you'll find that missing items are a common complaint for this restaurant. Later, I got a robo text from MQ asking about my experience, so I let them have it. Get a text back from a "manager" apologizing and promising a refund for the missing order bit and some sort of credit. Never received them either. Shenanigans. And declining quality. Went to pick up a whole rack of ribs after work for dinner and the weekend. Cutter on the line was moving slowly, either a slacker or newbie but it got my attention and I watched this time. Watched her take out a full rack and trim off the thick end, taking away maybe 2 bones and putting back in the warming shelf. But then for some reason, she picked up 2 center cut bones from a different leftover half rack and added it to the end. Made a whole show of cutting and then counting the ribs and then taking back the 2 she added. I called her out on it and asked her why did she take away 2 ribs. She said a rack is 12 ribs. Okay, I encountered this before at Brookfield where they took out a rib from the center and they gave me the same excuse. I walked out then because I hadn't paid but in this case I already ordered and paid via the kiosk so this time I didn't walk away. I told her a full rack is a full rack, having had that confirmed by the MQ Twitter the last time I posted about it. Fortunately another worker intervened and made it whole again but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Unfortunately, the ribs are bad now anyway so I didn't need to get worked up at all. Pale with no smoke ring. I compared them to pics of previous MQ rib orders and the difference is very apparent. These might as well have been boiled or steamed. There's no bark and no smoke flavor. Sad to see them fall so far. I don't know if it's the time of day or the location but either way the variation in quality is disturbing. And since the east village location closed, I'll have to find another spot to get decent ribs. 12 vs full matters less but if you're going to count bones then why wouldn't you be looking out for customer and trimming off the thinner and drier end? Brookfield trying to steal a center cut bone is pretty bad but it's still not great if you're reserving off the thick end. Like I said, shenanigans. Either reserving it for themselves or building enough for another order. Again, being near Times Square, maybe they're just taking advantage of tourists. Chalk it up to more bad experiences in the area. All of these spots are forgetting that there are office workers that frequent the area too. read more

Got the pulled pork sandwhich because I was craving brisket but the only way to get it costs a damn fortune; the pork's good but it comes in a cup full of straight liquid fat and dulls all flavor, be sure to pour all that out before saucing or eating. The sandwich is sorta plain so you'll probably want some slaw, but they rip you off like every other place in our fine city so be discerning. It's pretty good though and I shouldn't be complaining, so I'll stop; I'm a big fan of a mustard based bbq and theirs is great. I had a really good experience at Mighty Quinn's. I think I may have tried them out before several years ago but I don't remember what I ordered. This time around, I ordered the brisket rice bowl lunch special, which I had with the mac n cheese. I ordered for takeout and my food was ready and packed when I arrived. They followed my instructions about my sides being packed separately and the people behind the counter were friendly. I didn't stay to eat, but it they had extra bbq sauce on the table and plenty of open chairs to sit. The brisket came with a nice sized portion and it had a decent amount of meat vs fat. I prefer a leaner brisket cut, so that was good. It was really flavorful and tender. It falls apart in your mouth as you eat it, which, I think, is the sign of a nice smoked meat. The rice was also a good portion but was a little bit greasy. The Mac n cheese was a nice consistency and it was savory. I do think it was missing something though to give it that little oomph. We got two 2 Meat samplers and added on all the pickles for no price. For both platters we got spare ribs and then chose briskets and burnt ends for the other option. 2 Meat Sampler -$19 - Burnt Ends Platter (+$2.50) (5/5) This was so good. A little greasy but so soft and juicy. The sauce was also great - Brisket Platter (+ $2.50) (2/5) This was very dry with no flavor. I would not get this again - Spare Ribs Platter (5/5) Surprisingly the best part of the meal. There were generous amount of pieces and each piece had huge chunks of meat. Not great. The sauces were good, not great. Everyone else agreed that it was good, not great. Especially for the price we paid. We aren't cheap, and I'm from California so I know premium prices, but it was just good. The only great item was the bread pudding. It is a must have. The drop in stars is because we all ordered at once and our orders came out staggered over 20 minutes because they "lost" one persons order. Unacceptable. When she brought it to their attention they fixed it with no apology or concession. She has to eat fast so we could make our next appointment. In all it's ok. My first experience with Mighty Quinn's was during the pandemic. I spent a portion of my lockdown ordering barbecue from across the country through Goldbelly. That's were I discovered Mighty Quinn. It was really good when I ordered it, so I excited to try it in New York. I visited a location close to my hotel in Manhattan. It is very close to Time's Square. The inside is small, but I think it was on point for NY. It was beautifully decorated with large windows to people watch with your meal. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They were able to help me decide between the numerous options. Also, since I wanted to eat part now and save some for later, they held chicken so it would be hot. Much appreciated. I ate the brisket and ribs there and took the chicken to go. The brisket was firm and tender with a nice bite. The ribs were tasty with a good seasoning and bite. I really wanted to like Mighty Quinn's. I heard good things about this place a while ago and was nearby so decided to go. I got the Half Chicken with Jasmine Rice. The chicken wasn't so good on its own but tasted better with the sauce they provided. The rice was edible but not tasty. It also seemed kind of old because it lacked moisture. My boyfriend got the pulled pork sandwich. It wasn't the best but he ate it all. He enjoyed the sweet potato side he got. Our friends both got the chicken, ribs, and brisket platter but they were not impressed. The brisket was the only thing that was decent for them. The ribs barely had any meat and wasn't juicy. Where's the spices? Where's the flavor? They ran out of Mac and cheese before I ordered and you can't substitute anything for rice so I got what I got, they didn't even offer to double up me on some coleslaw or maybe give some fries (not sure if that's allowed). I did however ask to get a cornbread which I know is inexpensive as a third side and they said ok. Also got a joe's lemonade which upon drinking was crazy sugary (57grams!). Honestly I know this isn't where you come for a healthy meal but my main gripes are: how do you manage to run out of Mac and cheese when it is the most popular side dish? Why do you offer rice as a base for a bowl, who eats white rice with bbq? A lot of ppl forgo rice these days. Lastly, fix the menu. I'd never been to this location before but was so confused. The rice bowl is unclear. Maybe call it a "Combo Bowl" or a "Mix Up bowl" instead to convey you can try a bunch of things.
