    Caesar salad with grilled shrimp.

I suggested dinner at Virgil's Real BBQ today, after a Broadway show with friends. This place has been around for a long time and it gives real Honky Tonk vibes. The happy hour menu was in full swing when we arrived so our table of four sampled a few things. Korean BBQ ribs were tender and flavorful but much too fatty for my liking. The popcorn shrimp served with real popcorn was tasty. Lemonade spiked with vodka and served in Mason jars was really good. My friend said her pulled pork sliders were just a bit dry. From the main menu I ordered deviled eggs sprinkled with crumbled bacon. My main course was a Caesar Salad with grilled shrimp. Everything was delicious. Our servers were very patient and let us linger which was very nice. About an hour in, we were treated to live music and we ordered another round of spiked lemonade. Our bill at the end was really low considering how much food we ordered. I plan to attend a few more Broadway shows this year, so Virgil's Real BBQ will be seeing more of me.

Half rack with baked beans and Roasted Brussel Sprouts! Darn good fixins right there!!

An old favorite in midtown's theater district. Their ribs are authentic dry rub barbecue. While not "fall off the bone", that's OK because they have intense flavor and a variety of sauces to try with them. The brisket was surprisingly peppery- wasn't expecting that but good nonetheless. Sides of corn bread with maple butter, beans and sprouts, washed down with a nice IPA (or two!) and enjoyed a great experience at Virgil's. Staff and service always friendly and helpful when choosing what to eat. Nice spot before a show or just in general if you're in midtown west.

We walked passed Virgil's and heard the songstress from outside! We walked in to the most friendly atmosphere. Welcomed byour bartender Nikki NIKKI who took out order and then game us Uno to play. It was a great way to connect with my husband and enjoy our cocktails and the live music! Thanks Nikki

Everytime I am in New York, I must stop in here to eat or just have a drink. Virgil's Real BBQ - New York Since 1994 Server - Tony, is always great and so fast with our orders. So helpful in making sure we have enough for family style eating. Long Island Iced Tea Loaded Fries Fried Chichen Fried Cat Fish - Daily Special Sides: Green Mashed Potato and Gravy Mac & Cheese Bread Love the deco, such an old fashion feeling to it. Lot of old photos showing the history of the place. This place is a must when you are in New York.

Was meeting a friend to see a Broadway matinee. I have eaten here about five times but always for dinner. Wasnt really aware that they did breakfast, but decided to have breakfast until they switched the menu at 11am for lunch.. Sandra our wonderful waitress suggested a breakfast that had eggs, homefries, pancakes, sausage, bacon and toast. We shared that and then got wings and beer for lunch! Sandra made the coffee it was delicious for a BBQ spot! The breakfast was really good! The Radiant Pig IPA is my favorite from this spot!I Laurenand Joanna were amazing! They checked in on us to make sure everything was up to par! They even surprised my friend with ice-cream and candles and had the rest of the customers say happy birthday her! The staff here is amazing! The vibe is chill I will continue to return, for breakfast, lunch and dinner and happy hour!

Couldn't resist stopping in for some down home comfort food! It's such a fun environment and even nicer as it's decorated for the holidays. Our server, Tanesha answered all our questions and made suggestions. We both went for the triple pit bowls. I got the greens and grains w/ 3 meats and my friend went for the Mac & cheese w/ the 3 meats. Each was only $25! Such a bargain and lots of food. Of course you have to grab a beer with the comfort food. I grabbed a Virgil's ale while my friend went for the Nitro stout. Good eats, fun servers and happy music!

It has been many many years since the last time I've been to New York City and Times Square. Unfortunately, my wife was sick and was not able to accompany me on this business trip . Virgil is a must stop if you're in New York City in near Time Square . They have a really good happy hour menu for food and different drinks and the food portion on the happy hour. Menu is really really good. I opted for the two selection dinner off the dinner menu and I got the two ribs and the brisket with mashed potatoes and gravy, and the smoked beans were off the wall . My appetizer was the smoked deviled eggs, which were really really good . The service was extremely friendly and helpful and really made you feel welcomed and comfortable . I had a chance to meet the manager, who is a very nice individual and tried to assist with a gift card that I had for many years ago which they no longer issue those type of cards which is not surprising. It's been at least 10+ years since we had those cards and she recommended that I called the corporate office which I will do and I appreciate her help. Thank you Food came out fairly quick and it came out hot and was well presented as you can tell in the photos they have all kinds of different foods. You cannot go wrong with anything you order. One thing that has changed over the years was that you were able to buy their barbecue sauce in jars and they no longer offer those custom jars anymore, which was a bummer because they are sauce is simply divine . They are decorated for Christmas and the inside looks very charming and it has that southern charm and when you walk in the front door, you'll be greeted by an animated grinch, which was really cool If you're looking for a good place to dine in, you're close to Times Square you need to come in to Virgil's you can't go wrong .

Surprisingly great spot in Times Square for BBQ. It's a huge restaurant so plenty of room if you're coming with a large group. Our waitress Unique was amazing, she knew the menu in and out and made a bunch of great suggestions. The brisket is a must. I wasn't gonna get it, but she talked me into it along with the dirty rice. Ribs and Mac and cheese also great. The portions are huge and the prices are pretty reasonable for the area. There were a few small mix ups with the food due to the kitchen, but Unique was on top of it, and the manager even came over to check on us. They comped our dessert which was really sweet. My only comment was every dish was lukewarm, I'd have liked it a little hotter.

Great value, great drinks loaded with alcohol, great service, live country music. Everything was delicious and tender. Wide array of bbq sauces. Full bar with cocktails and I'm sure they have beer as well. Can't wait to try the desserts. Fried Oreos, pb and j cookies, and banana pudding all sounded great. The Mac and the Brussels sprouts were cooked to perfection. Mac had plenty of cheesy sauce. Pickles onions were an impeccable touch. Corn bread was yummy and a great addition. The pig out had a little bit of everything and everything was delicious. Could feed two or even three people.

My friend and I shared a half rack of ribs, which were tasty. It came with 2 sides, we chose the cheese grits and the brussel sprouts. Loved the brussel sprouts, cooked with lots of oil and salt. You can also choose from french fries, sweet potato tots, collard greens and more. They have 3 BBQ sauces on the table, mild, hot and jalapeno mango. I liked them all. The service was good. They have TVs all over the place with sports playing. A good choice if you're in Times Square seeing a show.

I ordered the BBQ sandwich with potato salad, and overall the meal was pretty good. There are very limited American BBQ options in the area, so this one feels a bit touristy, which makes sense given its Times Square location. While the food was solid, it did feel overpriced for what it was. That said, the service was really good and attentive. The restaurant leans into a fun Southern theme that definitely reminds me of BBQ spots I've visited in the South. It's a decent option if you're nearby and craving BBQ.

Virgil's 152 W. 44th St. New York, NY Hush Puppies Memphis Style Duroc Pork Spare Ribs Pig Out The hush puppies served with maple butter are basically fried corn bread. It's a perfect appetizer to accompany your main course. The irony is you won't really need this appetizer because their main course alone will fill you up, but there's always room for leftovers. The pig out is a fantastic deal. It's basically equivalent to the cost of 2 entrees. you are served every meat along with two sides. This will also be great for leftovers! As you indulge, don't forgot to take advantage of their barbecue sauces. The irony is you won't really need this appetizer because their main course alone will fill you up, but there's always room for leftovers. #timessquare #virgils #barbecue #midtownmanhattan #pigout #ribs #nycfoodie #foodstagram

Does this place have a mechanical bull?

Given that they barely have room for the tables, there's no place for them to put one.

    Yes it is?

Virgil's is okay. You won't find better BBQ in Times Square. My personal favorite spots are in Brooklyn.

Do they sing happy birthday (Pomp and circumstance) of sorts? I want to bring my son who is turning 11.

Yes just let the waiter or waitress know when you are seated.

    Any wait time for tonight?

You can pretty much get right in. No wait. It's a big place!

We reserved for a quick bite at Redeye Grill before catching Dog Day Afternoon on Broadway, but as soon as we walked up, some bouncer told us they were closed for a private wedding reception. We actually stumbled into Tanner Smith's thinking it'd be the typical, boring bar-food spot. Nope. They first sat us at a hi-top by the door, but that wasn't our vibe, so we grabbed seats at the bar instead. Best decision. Our bartender, Josiah, was absolutely killing it. My cocktail had passion fruit, so of course I asked my usual question: "But is it real passion fruit?" He just nodded in agreement and that told me everything I needed to know. That drink was legit and had nice strength. The food was great too. My fish tacos were packed with fresh fish, the guacamole and salsa were chunky and full of flavor and hubs enjoyed his pastrami sandwich. I have no clue when we'll be back in Midtown, but one thing's for sure- we're sitting with Josiah again.
