Great new spot! My fiancé and I went to the Mighty Squirrel tonight for the first time. We have a new puppy so decided to enjoy their outdoor patio. Fun and clean brewery with a lot of options to check out in a flight or having a full beer. There are IPAs, stouts, lagers and a bunch of other options as well. It will be hard to find something you don't like. There is an area for food trucks on the outside with fire pits so on a cool summer or fall night it would be a relaxing environment to be with friends and enjoy the weather. If you are coming from the city is is very easy to take the commuter rail and walk. It is only a 15 minute walk from the station. read more

Loving the sunny patio. The chill vibe feels much more Austin than Boston;) Also has a Burlington VT feel.

Some of the beer is excellent, some just ok. However, vibe of this spot is excellent! Loved coming here a few different times with different people and it worked for everyone. We haven't brought kids yet, but have seen many there. The place is huge so it is easy to get beer and to find your own space! read more

Update: I've met some new bartenders since my first write up and they are all amazing. The company has expanded their beer selection, yippee! Here are a couple of dark beers currently on tap, that I love. * I'm not a fan of IPA's or sours for the most part, although I found that I do like cloud candy (an IPA). I tried these: - Lucky Luke (my #1 fav) --OATMEAL STOUT - 6.12% ABV - Je t'aime (my #2 fav)--FRENCH BIERE DE GARDE - 9% ABV - Glaze of Glory- (my #3 fav) --IMPERIAL STOUT - 12% ABV I've also tried the chicken curry, and steak & cheese pastry pockets, and I'm not a fan of the quality of meat in the product. Went here over the summer during the Covid beergarden times. Decided to swing by tonight for a Chicken & Rice Guys food truck bite, as the food truck had advertised on their social media page. The food from the truck was good as before, then decided to go inside the brewery for a beer. It was not advertised until after the fact that you could order from the food truck from inside. The thought of grabbing a quick beer, wasnt so quick. A staff member asked for a phone number at the door, confirmed covid protocol (eventhough we have all been in this pandemic for a year now) and mentioned what table we had to sit at. There was only 1 other table seated in the brewery. He also mentioned we had to order food with our beer, I mentioned we just ate from the truck outside, but apparently that didnt count. Looking to just sit down, we then had to use the QBR code to order and pay thru the app. My phone was super full, I had to delete an app to download the QBR app-thinking this was such a process-is this worth it? Looking for a HEFW beer, the descriptions of the beer wasnt was I thought it was. After my hubby got his drink (and we had ordered a pretzel to split) the staff member said we had to order MORE FOOD to get the beer I had ordered. I almost lost my patience. We just ate outside, we just ordered a pretezel to share, yet now we need to order more food?! Did you just want us to order the entire menu so the staff had something to do in the kitchen?! Waiting for my beer, I had moved my chair closer to my hubby's side to view the menu on my phone and then got yelled at that my chair couldnt be moved 1 ft. We live together yet my chair couldnt be next to his was super confusing-I think this staff member was super rude. FYI-they automatically add 20% tip to your bill-I work in the restaurant industry and always tip 20%, but this was just upsetting and greedy. The staff member was short and had brown hair, didnt get his name-nor will we ever go there again. Above all, he didnt check our IDs but made sure my hubby and I were 6 feet apart. Cool new spot in Waltham to get your fix of fresh craft beers. Had the Mango Lassi and Cloud Candy - both were excellent. Staff was friendly and served our group promptly. Spacious venue with ample parking. A welcomed addition to the local beer scene. read more

I'm very willing to go back and give these guys another shot, but having visited a week after opening, I'm willing to give them the benefit of doubt. Beer is great, in fact, their smoked lager might be the best smoked lager/porter I've ever had. Cloud candy is a great staple beer. But they only had 5 options. Most breweries in the area have at least 10. I would like to see more options. I'd also like to see what the place is like busy. We went around noon on a Friday and it was not busy (might be the newness of the business being a week old, and it's a weekday). I liked how open the brewing space is to the rest of the taproom. You can see pretty much everything that could go on in there. The space itself is huge, and pretty impressive to see in person. You can tell the owners value their operation having the canning line in house, when you hear others hire out of house to can. I can see coming here in the summer and taking advantage of the outdoor patio area and playing some cornhole with friends. Like I said I'm willing to give them a pass in regards to the tap list, and over time I could see it being a great liquid lunch spot for work. oh how i love it here!!! my husband and i happened to go on a kind of rainy, gloomy day, but we're looking forward to going back in the nicer weather so we can take advantage of the patio and outdoor seating. however, the inside is just as nice as the outside. there's an actual bar top, a huge one, that encompasses the brewing equipment in the center of the space. i was so happy to find a bar top inside a brewery! not a very common feature. service was super friendly. in fact, my husband and i were celebrating our first anniversary, and we got a few tastes comped, which i thought was very nice. beers were delicious, and they have a huge variety, so you're sure to find something you like. i'm partial to their fruit beers, but my husband is an IPA lover, and found many he enjoyed. we didn't have any during this visit, but the pretzels look phenomenal. big, doughy, and served with dipping sauces, these are definitely on my list to have the next time we visit. this tap room is an awesome space, a great spot to sit and visit for a couple of hours with friends over delicious beers. definitely check it out. read more

The beer is really great, but at a very high price. 8.50 a glass is not what I expect when area bars and restaurants sell it for 6 or 6.50. Was just at Stone Brewery in San Diego and they were only 6.50. I expect a fair value at a brewery and I was really disappointed. Won't go back. read more

This was a refreshing scene in Waverley Oaks after work! They had about ten beers to select from in full or half sizes. I tried a couple New England style pale ales: Cloud Candy and Strawberry Smoovy, which were perfect blend of flavor and body. My German girl friend complemented the delivery on the Berliner Weisse style beer, Sour Face. Beyond the delicious brews, the two patios with Adirondack chairs, fire pits and barrels were super inviting. I was surprised, yet happy to see how many tiny toddlers and pets were onsite and due to the spacious layout everyone had their own space and there was not too much noise, smells, etc. The coffee bar in the back was a really cool feature and despite the fact that they don't have a kitchen, the food truck pulled up next to the patio was a great way to compensate (I'm sure this concept keeps the menu interesting). read more

We live very close by this brewery and we were super excited when it opened up. It is within walking distance and dog friendly. Our first visit was in early June. I do agree with the reviewer who commented about the amount of children present at a bar being a bit excessive. Aside from that, this place is awesome. My husband is an IPA lover, I am not and loved their Mike Czech pilsner. The meat pies were scrumptious. Hot, flakey crust, and delicious saucy meat inside. We had both the chicken and beef pies. You can also bring your own takeout. The patios were busy but not too crowded when we visited which is to be expected on a nice early summer day, but we were able to snag a couple of chairs on the shadier patio. This brewery has a lot of space and ample seating. Cool decor with varying seating types inside (communal tables, high tops, couches, even a swing) and adirondacks outside. We like that we feel comfortable bringing our kids here as it is loud and they have plenty of board games plus a foosball table. There are always other families too. The beer is pretty tasty. The Peach Smoovy is my fav. I would love to see some different styles from them. Im not an IPA drinker and prefer the sweeter, boozier beers (ie. Belgians, scotch ales, barleywines) which are not ideal for sessions but would be great to enjoy from the comfort of home. Looking forward to coming back. read more

Fun place! We tried the Aussie meat pies yesterday and thought they were delish. Hubs is Australian and he gave them a thumbs up. We brought my 3-year-old after a day hike to relax afterwards and she loved playing foosball and eating pita chips with hummus. My husband loves the cloud candy and he sometimes runs in to just buy some which is always a quick stop. I'm actually pregnant so I haven't tried the beers but they have non-alcoholic drinks on the menu and I plan on making up for lost time in the fall trying out all the beers. Great Place great staff that know their product! Tons of parking, a rarity for breweries. With two bars (one they open for busy nights and events), rock climbing wall right next door, Coffee Bar with Atomic Coffee Roasters out of Beverly,MA, oh and two outdoor seating areas along with some great warm snacks! You can't beat the Mighty Squirrel taproom from their super friendly staff to the awesome atmosphere and great, always changing line-up of delicious beer! I would definitely recommend stopping by the taproom if your in the Waltham area or passing through, Thyrsday-Saturdays they have awesome local food trucks and sometimes even live music! read more

By the time I get to a Sunday, I'm very dependent on service. I'm tired. I just want nice people who are going to hook me up. The beer was good, facility was great (inside huge, outside is an office park but they put work in to make the area feel ok). One downside is they serve small glasses, cant get most beers as pints after standing in line. And they have no flights. You might find yourself paying 24 bucks for a brandy glass superflight and a couple of line waits, not the best way to try and compare new beers. It is a tasting room, no? Also, strange to have roped lines leading to short end of bar watching other folks getting served along long end. Feels like someone didn't quite think all this through from the customer's angle. Anyway, just short of great for those reasons - pints and flights my lad, pints and flights. It's not Treehouse, but they obviously know what they're doing in the vats - as good as any cambridge microbrew. read more

I was really excited for Mighty Squirrel to open and was hopeful it would become a new favorite. Like many reviews mentioned, the beer selection is pretty limited. They have begun serving some snack foods, however if you are looking for a meal you will have to bring your own or order delivery. I have found that most times I have come, it seems more like a playground than a brewery. This probably makes it great for families with young children as it is very kid-friendly, but for those looking for a relaxed place to grab a beer, this is not it. read more

Girlfriend and I decided to try this place out after a day off in the city ice skating. Very cozy and relaxing environment. We both aren't the most knowledgeable with breweries but our bartender did great with explaining each one to our specific tasting. We tried their steak and cheese Aussie Meat Pie and it was a great addition to our drinks. Will def be here again. read more

I liked this place the first time I went; large open space, good beers, games. I will not come after my second visit. The staff is incredibly rude, particularly the youngish man with the shaved head. His attitude was unsavory. Not only was he rude to the group I was with but he also forgot one of our beers. And then seemed annoyed with us for that for whatever reason. We ordered a pretzel and we didn't get notified at all that it was ready. When I went to go order another round of beers he looked straight at me and decided to deliberately walk away from the bar and do little chores rather than wait on me. After that we left and got beers elsewhere. We were nothing but polite and his attitude was uncalled for. The customer service here needs to be improved. read more

Stopped in for the first time for an event at the taproom. I was a little surprised at the lack of food (just pretzels, meat pies, and hummus), but the drinks were good. The smell was really something, although we did get used to it after about a little while. We had two issues, though. First, my husband got a little tipsy and asked for a coffee. Turns out that even though they have a full coffee bar, they don't have hot coffee after 4 pm. Second, the seating. I saw a few picnic tables, a couch, and two funky chairs, but most of the seating is stools. These stools are very, very tall and backless. I'm 5'2" and really struggled getting up and down, more than on most barstools. I'm also not clear where their accessible seating is, as none of what I saw would be accessible. read more

Really neat place! Good sour beers and a fun place to hang out. Bring some games and food to enjoy with friends, there's lots of tables and seating to hang out. Went in the early afternoon and there were some families there playing games. By late afternoon on a Saturday it started to get busy but still plenty of places to sit. Looking forward to going back to try a pretzel with my beer. Staff was very nice. Their mighty squirrel logo is pretty cute. Glad a place like this is in Waltham now. read more

Where to begin....This place will definitely become a regular spot for my friends and family. We are so grateful to have discovered it! So far we have been three times, and each visit gets better than the last. The service is always phenomenal--such a friendly and knowledgeable staff. The taproom itself is bright, open concept and very smartly laid out. The atmosphere is warm and inviting with lots of different areas to sit, perch and mingle with pals. Unlike other bars that feel claustrophobic on busy evenings, Mighty Squirrel never feels terribly crowded thanks to the vast space and high ceilings. And you can't forget the ample parking day or night! That is practically unheard of in these parts. The only thing that would make this place even more wonderful is a hot tub full of Cloud Candy, reserved just for me :) read more

I've always liked mighty squirrel in cans so was excited to go to the brewery. I get that things aren't completely normal with COVID but I guess I was still expecting a "hey how's it going?" Instead of someone just popping out and telling me what table number to go to without any direction as to how to get there or how to order. I had a couple questions about the beer and was also going to ask how to get to-go cans but couldn't catch the eye of anyone who looked like they were in the mood to answer questions. I got the vibe that the staff was really paranoid (which again, I do realize we are in a pandemic) but you can still be friendly and helpful from a safe distance with a mask on. As a non-drinker, I wasn't really quite sure what to expect. Was here last night for a parent night at my kids school. We chose this place specifically for the fact that it had an outdoor patio that was intensely heated. And when I mean intense... this place did it right. Heat lamps all the way across the ceilings the patio is not closed in with plastic like other places do. Different food trucks each night and they were very good. As someone who used to drink I was very tempted to try one of their beers because when you went inside to order drinks, the place just smelled absolutely amazing. The only thing I would say is that it would be awesome if they had better non-alcoholic beverages. They have Spindrift which is my least favorite, but they had bottles of water and really cute kid size juice boxes and I think they had a coffee option. The good thing is that you're allowed to bring your own food and drink as long as it's not alcohol. But it would be really cool if they had their own nonalcoholic beer because I would totally hit that. In these cold months I'm hoping that they'll have food trucks that have hot chocolate or hot tea or something like that but the fact that you can bring your own is great. I was so pleasantly surprised and so was my husband. The place was pretty packed when we got there at 7 PM on a Friday night but it was still comfortable enough where you felt like you had some distance. Will definitely go back here again but with some extra supplies for ourselves :-) read more
