Classic pub/tavern with slight elevation. The burgers and popcorn shrimp are what I come for. Highly recommend the "Vermonster" with waffle fries and a side of house made onion rings.

Cherry Street burger on English Muffin with sweet potato fries and bacon add-ons

Cherry Street East is an absolute staple, and one of my favorite spots to catch up with friends whenever I'm in town. The only challenge/downside is the small parking area as it can be hard to maneuver in, depending on sizes of vehicles parked and how they're parked, but don't be discouraged! If you're going with someone, I'd suggest one person go in to grab a table while the other parks. There is an open parking lot across the road, however this is used by customers and owners of the businesses there. Not sure if parking enforcement checks and tickets, so if you are going to risk it there check for any signs. Every time I've gone for lunch, at opening or an hour into opening, we've been seated quickly. Personally I love the little booths, even with the close proximity of the seating layout you never feel like your conversation is being interrupted by the tables nearby. I love the environment, and how it's a good mix of sunny but dark (even midday). The burger with the English muffin is simple but absolutely delightful. The first time I had it with an English muffin, it really had me questioning why I hadn't tried it sooner. The burger isn't too big, so if you're pretty hungry I'd suggest some fries or another appetizer. Staff have always been friendly and efficient. Never had an issue with placing an order, requesting a refill, or closing the tab. But the staff are also good with not being overly helpful and constantly coming by. The town has quite a mix of restaurants/cuisines to try, but I'd still recommend trying Cherry Street East with their generously priced and classic options. If you're not able to dine in or pick up a to go order, appears they're now on UberEats too.

    Nice find, this place.

Fantastic! First time there. We got burgers on English Muffins! This is a cozy pub like environment and so much fun! The staff made us feel quite welcome and the burgers..oh wow. Melt in your mouth good. It turns out, as a local told us later, they are known for their burgers. We did not even know that when we went in! Were just passing by and decided to stop. This is a place I happily recommend and it will not be my last time there. Burgers on English Muffins! Every place should do that! And not only that but they are so good! Prices not bad either. Actually prices are awesome because this is an upscale town and there is no attitude here, just fine fun people. Highly recommended.

The restaurant is on the rustic side. Not terrible but nothing memorable. The waitress was quick to seat us and take care of us. The menu is full of lots of comfort food options. We decided to do several of their appetizers. My girlfriend ordered the filet mug on sliders and I ordered the fried baby back ribs with a basket of fries. He filet mignon sliders were a sizable portion but it only came with Gorgonzola and a slice of tomato. It was cooked at a perfect temperature but it sort of left us wanting a bit more. The ribs were delicious. The fell off the bone and had plenty of barbecue sauce. I enjoyed our lunch but it did not blow me away. Not sure if I will come back to try other menu offerings.

This is definitely a good place to come and eat with the family. The atmosphere is casual and laid back and the service is really friendly and fast. The Food is great as well! There's a good selection of traditional burgers and sandwiches as well as healthier salads. We got the fish and chips and it was really good (so was the tarter sauce). The spinach salad which was good as well. In the words of my son, the meatball Parmesan grinder was "great, great, great!". Overall this is a really cool place and I would definitely recommend it!

Very good pub fare. If you enjoy a hearty bowl of chili or a good cheese steak with a drink, this is a good place to try.

Eventually they sat back down after the waiter said something. But they sat ON the table and couldn't sit still. Totally get that they're kids, but at some point management should have said something before we asked.. Anyway, that's not really the restaurants fault. It just made for an unpleasant experience for our party. Our server was friendly and attentive, Our food was good, portions were good: Everything tasted fresh. My only gripe is that it's very loud and I feel like management should ask parents to control kids that are ruining it for others.

After exiting off the "always under construction" Merritt Pkwy (CT 15), I headed into the downtown area of New Canaan and decided on Lombardi's Ristorante & Bar, which opened recently in the former Papyrus space. This Italian restaurant and bar offers and cozy modern atmosphere with table seating along the right wall and a full bar with seating along the left side. They do have a dress code here including no hats, no hoodies, no sweatpants. The food offerings include a selection of crafted homemade pasta dishes, meat & seafood dishes, appetizers, salads, cheese & meat samplers, and dessert. The pricing is on the higher side and food is prepared to order. The bar serves beer, wine, and cocktails. I also called the restaurant to make sure they were open after 9 pm, when I would be passing through. I arrived here around 9:15pm, which was the perfect time when things weren't too busy. I left my cap in the vehicle and entered Lombardi's and took a seat at the bar. The bartender gave me a menu to look at and offered water. I decided on a starter, but the bartender helped me decide on an entrée. For a starter, the Frittatina Napoletana ($18 plus tax), which was a fried pasta fritter filled with linguine noodles, peas & ham in a cream sauce and topped with a white sauce. For an entrée, the Cavatelli Rossi Al Ragu Bianco ($30 plus tax), very firm hand rolled pasta curls, in a white veal ragu with dehydrated tomato dust & parmigiano fondue. Both the starter and entrée were fantastic choices with good hearty flavors. After I was done, I passed on dessert and got the check with Toast QR code which was $51.52 with tax and before tip. Overall, I enjoyed some great well prepared Italian dishes, nicely presented. The service was very good here. The bartender was able to keep an eye on things, offering water & drinks, making suggestions and also chatting about life. The food runners brought me the starter and entrée in timely order. I would definitely recommend Lombardi's for a date night, special occasion, or just wanting to enjoy some great food.
