Why do people obsess over Miguel's Jr.? It's far from being real Mexican food and everything I've ever ordered from there has been bland. I'm open to recommendations but no taco, burrito, or enchilada from Miguel's has me sold. The rice is always dry too so I mix it with the beans. I visited this location a week ago withy best friend on our way out to the beach. For being a fast food-esq. joint, the dining area was large and clean. They are always slightly pricey for the quality and quantity you receive. AND you have to pay extra for chips? That's a travesty for a Mexican restaurant. You have to request the key up front for the restroom which is a little tacky for this area. One of the employees was too overly flirtatious with my friend where it was unwelcomed but at least parking was free in a large private lot. (I'm trying to see the bright side of things.) Miguel's Jr. will never be my first choice of restaurant but I will likely be back when others overrule me. I hope they work on rebranding and improving their core business. read more

The faces here are always friendly and the service is always good. The food is amazing too, and that makes this place one of our favorite restaurants. We drive about 30-45 minutes to eat here and we never regret it. read more

I got a bean and cheese burrito and it was decent, add a little salsa and you should be good. Came through after working all night hoping for a breakfast burrito. Asked about the sunrise burrito to where I got a full description and was promptly told I couldn't have it afterwards, Apparently came 10 minutes too late to the empty Miguel's . I get to the window and receive my Diet Coke, and clearly they haven't checked their soda gun lines in a while tasted like dirty Perrier. Then I get home and get into my garbage burrito it immediately spills out of the burrito tortilla is torn to shreds! I wish I could take off half a star, because I would give a four and a half rating. I love this Miguel's Jr. in Costa Mesa! They are always friendly and the food is great! Some of The Best burritos around! My only gripe is since they started asking you what hot sauce you want at the drive thru ordering menu, it rarely ends up being what you requested, in the bag. And for me, it happens like 7 out of 10 times. They'll ask if I want any hot sauce and I'll say 3 or 4 Green. I'll get the order home and there's only Red in the bag. I wish they would go back to asking what hot sauce you wanted at the PickUp window. I think the accuracy was better that way. Even with the above annoyance, Miguel's Jr. is still my go-to for an awesome Chorizo burrito in the morning or their tastey Garbage burrito. Their tacos are the bomb as well! read more

Finally! Years ago I worked out of Corona and Miguel's was my #1 choice for Mexican fast food. I'm glad to report that at 1 am, they churn out a burrito as good as it's IE sister restaurants. My standard order is the bean and cheese burrito. Basic, but a quality bean and cheese is hard to find. I loved every bite. I will be certain to order my other favorites next time I'm in Costa Mesa (probably after a long night of boozing). P.S. Need something for after last call? Miguel's makes it so easy for me to scratch my Mexican food craving itch as they have a drive thru at this location in Costa Mesa. My usual things I get are chicken tacos with no oil (non fried), chicken taquitos platter which comes with rice and beans, or one of their delicious burritos. I'm also liking their guac here even though it's not "real" guacamole" it's still good and plenty of their red sauce! 3.5 stars, for drive-thru experiences. My boyfriend loves this place. I'm slowly becoming a fan of this place. I've been here twice and the food is good. It's not authentic Mexican food but it is good, especially since it is fast food. They can accommodate orders, my boyfriend orders the Miguel burrito with double chicken and double cheese, no beans and no rice. THE BEST Mexican fast food you've ever had! I was introduced to Miguels at the first establishment in Corona CA. By the Binning family when they moved to a historical home in the 70's! Definitely my latin family's style of cooking. Talk about that YUM They never quite made it to LA county but I have recently moved to Costa Mesa & I can literally walk to this location. First of all I used to recommend this place to all my friends and got my family going and would come 2 to 3 times a week. Tonight has permanently changed my opinion. We were given the wrong order at the window which is common for most drive thru places at one time or another and I called the girl on the phone and she was super sweet about it. Said to come back, said to keep the food we were accidentally given and she said she would make fresh hot food when we came back because it's a 12 min drive back from our home. So we lost a half hour leaving and returning. Food was not ready when we returned but that's ok because they said they would make it fresh and told us to wait in the Reserved parking spot. We watched car after car drive by and finally I went inside to find out what was taking so long. she handed us our food and a free drink and a $5 card which was nice but we didn't eat until 90 minutes after our original order was placed which is FOREVER when you're hungry and at a drive thru PLUS the chile relleno plate was not fresh (hubby orders it every week and knows the difference) and the chicken was grisly in my husband's burrito Not sure what the 35 min wait was about or why the lousy food when we were the victims but left a particularly bad taste in our mouths. Two stars given was for having a nice attitude when we called but maybe passive aggressively making us wait forever and giving us bad food is super questionable. Update and response to Miguel Jr The manager that tried so hard last night in Costa Mesa was so professional and kind and hospitable. It is a shame that the kitchen staff undermine her and prepared the food so slowly and poorly. The issue isn't with her customer service which was outstanding. The issue is with the actual food It was the same order we get every week and it was NOT good and the taco was grisly. Almost deliberately done by the cooks. Disappointment is with your cooks. My husband and I were big fans of the corona Miguels so when we moved down to Costa Mesa we were pumped to see there was a Miguel's across the street. While we still eat their and will continue to eat their in the future, the quality is night and day compared to the original Miguel's. Their burritos are always over stuffed, the tortillas are hard and cracked, and the meal you get is never consistent. I have never eaten here where the burrito didn't fully break apart. Sometimes right away sometimes half way thru. Exhibit A for the lackluster burrito I got today. Without fail, it broke apart and beans were spilling out of every side. Love it. Consistently good. Wonderful family owned chain that is quickly opening more locations. It all started out in Corona CA. Rad history. They are well known for their beans and salsa so don't forget some! I especially love the bean potato and rice burrito. Yumm. VERY clean place with really nice staff.
