The food and service are excellent. I have been there 2 times within the past month. I had a chile relleno and an enchilada rancheros the first time and 2 chile rellenos the second time. The waiters are friendly and polite and the service is very quick. Empty glasses are refilled without having to wait for a waiter to look your way. They are very attentive and alert. They do not just bring your food and then ignore you afterwards as so many waiters do elsewhere. read more

Very warm greeting from hostess and we were seated immediately. I had a delicious classic margarita and my guests went with the watermelon margarita; there are ongoing discussions about who had the most refreshing and delicious margarita, but something's will never be resolved. The three of us shared two orders of fajitas - one steak and one chicken. These come with wonderful little flour tortillas and a side of guacamole. Yummy food. Fast service for a lunch. In town for a conference and we had a ton of people wanting to go to lunch so we decided on Avilas. We had a party of 11 and they were great. Seated us quickly and we were at one large table which was fun. They immediately asked if we wanted quacamole and we said yes. They brought it out without asking quantity or anything... while it was delicious they brought FOUR then charged us $48 for them. Bad on us for not clarifying and it was DELICIOUS. The flautas (cannot remember the name but it is in the pictures I posted) on the appetizer menu was plenty for myself and another to share. It was delicious and overall not that expensive. We came in about an hour before closing with a big group, and the staff couldn't have been more accommodating. They found space for us right away and never made us feel rushed. I ordered their famous soup--it was good, but I'll probably try something else next time. It just didn't quite pop for me flavor-wise, though it wasn't bad by any means. Guacamole was $14. When they ask if you want guacamole, keep that in mind The one item combo (taco) was good. Nice shredded beef, crispy shell, a lot of rice and beans. But not that much flavor. The fajitas were also sizzling hot, good flavor, and the corn tortillas were nice and fresh. Tostada, however, was ok. Beans soaked into it too much and not a lot of meat. Do not get the fried ice cream. The coating tastes bad, since it tastes like they fried it and put it in the freezer. Some people are good servers. Rocky is exceptional. We first met Rocky at NORMS Restaurant, where he quickly became our family's favorite server. He's always warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. One time our two-year-old accidentally left behind his favorite toy monster truck and race cars. Rocky found them and kept them safe until we came back another day. Even though he wasn't our server that visit, he took the time to bring the toys to our table. Our son was ecstatic. From that moment on, Rocky became his best friend. On Sunday, (3/8/26) we finally took Rocky up on his invitation to visit him at Avila's El Ranchito to celebrate my husband's birthday, and it was fantastic from start to finish. We were warmly greeted by El Salvador, who immediately made us feel welcome. The food was incredible -- fresh chips and salsa, delicious carne asada, garlic shrimp, and pork carnitas. Rocky recommended the Cadillac margaritas and they were refreshing and perfectly made. For dessert we tried flan and fried ice cream for the first time and both were amazing. To top it off, Marie Avila stopped by our table, introduced herself, and shared a bit of the restaurant's family history. She was so warm and welcoming, which made the experience even more special. Rocky made sure everyone at our table was taken care of all night. My husband said it was one of the best birthday celebrations he's had. Great food is wonderful, but great people make a place unforgettable. Huge thank you to Rocky and the entire team at Avila's El Ranchito for making the night so special. As someone who isn't to keen to choosing Mexican food, no place could ever get me excited like this place. While yes it still has its ups and downs on the food side which I struggle to choose, I still chose the Tamale with the appetizer course of the Nachos. Both tasted incredible. The tamale was great but a little too dry but still enjoyable to eat! The interior of this building is really nice and well made, I see why people love this place so much. This is my friend's favorite Mexican restaurant and we were celebrating the holidays and a birthday. My friend tells me that this chain of restaurants is family owned and all the recipes are proprietary to the family. Enchiladas are my benchmark for Mexican restaurants and what I order to decide on if a place is worth coming back. Hand made tortillas and very fresh tasting green tomatillo sauce were the stand out for this dish. The chicken was moist, but there was a bone in it that I can overlook as the bone was large and I spotted it quickly. Great ambiance and my friend and I sat and talked for hours during their off peak time (2:30-5:00 on a Sunday). They still got a very consistent stream of customers even at these off peak hours.
