Unfortunately we ordered delivery and it was less than pleasant. We were missing a citrus slaw burrito and door dash wouldn't correct it nor would the store. We ordered through their website. We were instructed to resubmit a new order for something so they could add the missing item to the new order, but by this time it was 15 min til closing and we were unable to do so. Now my cousin will need to follow up with door dash tomorrow to get her money back and my husband has no dinner. Total bummer for a place we typically enjoy. The rest of our food was good though.

Love this chain, and no better place to eaeat at Fashion Island. I went on a date and after walking around for a couple hours, we decided to try this one out. She got the 3 fish tacos, and I got a two taco combo plate with shrimp and fish tacos. Comes with rice and beans, and a drink. We both loved our food, and the service was quick. It's located inside the food court area at the end. Nice big restaurant with lots of seating.

3.5/5 but I'll round up to a 4 Ordered a Spicy Fish Sandwich with fries. The sandwich itself was good, but nothing special. Fish was fried til crispy and the sandwich was actually spicy. I liked the slaw on it and the sandwich had good texture. The fries were basically unseasoned and not very good. Although even bad fries are good fries because they're fried haha The salsas are pretty good though! Overall, an okay experience! Workers were nice and friendly!

Two taco plate (carne asada & chicken) and brown rice & black beans

Great two taco (carne asada & chicken) meal with brown rice & black beans & terrific grilled chicken salad too! Ate on outside patio on a beautiful day! Excellent/friendly service too! Highly recommend if you crave a very delicious/fresh taco & salad!

    Maui bowl

Wow this was once a go to place since I frequent the area...not again. I ordered the Maui Bowl the rice has none of the flavor it once did and the beans are just fine. The shrimp have almost no sauce and look like cheap cocktail shrimp. When asking for pico I anticipated more than a 1/2 tsp. And I just can't get over leaving an empty spot mor rice or beans could have easily gone there without impacting the profit margin. Over all for $16 not worth it and won't be back.

Here is yet another in the PSA series: Substantial Lunches for Substantially Cheap or the What To Order From The Kid's Menu Guide - the series nobody asked for. Next. stop: Wahoo's - Kid's Bowl ($7.41 base price) The Kid's 's Bowl comes with your choice of protein over a bed of rice and your choice of beans- I opted for mild grilled chicken over white rice and black beans. Fearing that I'd still be hungry, I also added extra protein - extra grilled spicy fish (+$2.28). Knowing how potentially bland the bowl could taste, I went ahead and added a side of Maria's Spicy Green Sauce for ($1.19). I am happy to report that the grilled chicken is still perfection. The spicy fish was an audible, but it was mild in flavor and paired v well with the spicy green sauce. Might I add that I went to town with the add-ons because I was trying to hit a minimum for DoorDash. For $10.88 I achieved an optimal lunch bowl at Wahoo's. Would I suggest going through the same hurdles? Maybe? If work is slow.

Ask the Community - Wahoo's Fish Taco

Is Wahoo's in Fashion Island open? We were just there today at 6pm during business hours, and it was closed. Hoping that this is just temporary for some reason, and that they're not closed forever! Does anyone know...?

We had some technical difficulties and had to close for the day, we are hoping to be back tomorrow

The sincerity in his thoughtfulness and his attention to detail left a memorable impression. I hope I spelled his name correctly. I remember he had a unique spelling. He was attentive, accommodating, and did everything he could to make our experience enjoyable. Unfortunately, this review is directed at Red O's management team. My wife and children were excited to bring me to Red O for Father's Day brunch. As a husband and father, I was looking forward to celebrating the occasion with my family. We were seated quickly, which was a great start, but my disappointment began the moment I looked at the menu. There was absolutely nothing special about the Father's Day brunch menu. It was the same basic brunch menu that appears to be offered on any regular weekend. I was hoping to enjoy a quality steak, perhaps a ribeye or filet, as a Father's Day treat. Instead, the only steak options available were a carne asada dish and an oversized surf-and-turf featuring a massive tomahawk and lobster tail designed to feed multiple people. I asked our waiter why there wasn't a ribeye or filet offered for Father's Day. His response shocked me. He explained that for Mother's Day, Red O had offered an elaborate all-you-can-eat champagne brunch complete with carving stations, multiple meat selections, and a much more elevated experience. I know he meant no harm by sharing that information, but hearing it made the situation even more disappointing. To his credit, our waiter went above and beyond. He spoke with the chef and somehow arranged for me to receive a steak that wasn't even on the menu. That level of service is the only reason this review isn't a 1-star rating. My frustration is entirely with management. Why was Mother's Day treated like a major celebration while Father's Day received no special attention whatsoever? Fathers work hard, sacrifice for their families, and deserve to be celebrated too. I'm not suggesting Mother's Day should be diminished in any way, but the contrast between the two experiences was impossible to ignore. What made this especially disappointing was having to hide my feelings from my family. My wife and kids were genuinely excited to treat me to brunch at Red O, and I didn't want to ruin the occasion for them. But the reality is that I left feeling overlooked and undervalued by a restaurant that clearly knows how to create special holiday experiences when it chooses to. Red O missed a tremendous opportunity to celebrate fathers. Instead of a memorable Father's Day experience, we were given an ordinary brunch menu and the feeling that the holiday simply wasn't important enough to warrant any extra effort. That is incredibly disappointing.

Mexican sounded good, so I decided to check it out. Great Mex is located right on the main strip on the Balboa Peninsula. It's very much a hole-in-the-wall space - with a super simple/casual set up. The space isn't large - you order your food at the counter and then there are a few tables where you can sit. I was lucky that the place was empty when I arrived - shortly after I sat to eat a bunch of people came and filled the tables. They have a good variety of Mexican dishes - nothing too outrageous, mostly things familiar to the American palate. I decided to get the two taco combo dish and chose al pastor as my protein. The tacos were super tasty - generously filled with two being enough if you're hungry but not starving. The dish came with rice and refried beans which were also good. They carry Mexican Coke, so I got one of those to finish the meal off. Service was great - they were super friendly and the food was ready relatively quickly. They also went above and beyond - two people in my party got fountain beverages but they noticed they were too watered down and were quick to replace the syrup and provide us new beverages. Overall, I had a good meal at Great Mex - definitely a standout on Balboa Peninsula.

Throughout the meal, we felt repeatedly rushed. Plates were cleared quickly, and it seemed like we were being encouraged to leave before we had finished enjoying our celebration. The most disappointing part came when the bill arrived. Our server, Mercedes, told us that the tip was not included. After my mom paid and left an 18% tip, Mercedes again commented on the gratuity and stated that it wasn't the suggested amount. My mom had to explain that she had intentionally left the amount she felt was appropriate. We were genuinely surprised that a server would openly question a customer's gratuity, especially after receiving an 18% tip. Afterward, it also appeared that the situation was being discussed with coworkers within view of our table, which made us feel even more uncomfortable. I understand that restaurant work is demanding and everyone can have difficult days. However, no guest celebrating a special occasion should leave feeling rushed, criticized for the tip they chose to leave, or uncomfortable because of an interaction with their server. It's unfortunate because we were looking forward to celebrating a meaningful occasion as a family, and the service left a lasting negative impression. I hope management takes this feedback as an opportunity to coach staff so future guests have a better experience.
