What an experience at this restaurant! Phenomenal food, timing, atmosphere and service. This is how you treat patrons! Sean was just perfection and funny to boot. He checked on us periodically, made great suggestions and had a wonderful conversation. My girl had The Boeuf Diane and I had the Veal with Crabmeat and asparagus. I felt selfish ordering the oysters since she's not into them but goodness, I ate the whole half dozen by myself! They were made perfect and with original recipe. My girl was sad she couldn't finish the rest of her meal because we were SO full. I recommend this joint to anyone in the Sarasota area that is seeking quality, substance and a culinary awakening. Haven't been to Miguel's in over 20 years and overwhelmingly was not disappointed upon our return. Stepping in the restaurant you get transported to a European restaurant. Beautiful stained glass windows in the back of the dining room. We had the best French onion soup we have ever had. Entrees were the special Grilled Red Beans Grouper and the steak fritte. Great if you are looking for a long assssss dinner. I think that's what my dinner group was looking for so that part is ok. It was the 4 course early bird special. All smaller portions of each course. About 50 min between each portion. And each dish was good, but pretty basic af for the todo of it all. I would not recommend to anyone I know or like. My husband and I recently made a trip to Sarasota Florida in search of a French restaurant. This restaurant came highly recommended by reviews that I found on Yelp. Upon our arrival we were cheerfully greeted and sat at our table. The atmosphere of the restaurant was more like an old fashioned, Continental Cuisine Restaurant than a French restaurant.  The one chandelier had half the lights missing. I will say that the service was pretty much spot on. The waiter was wonderful, friendly and took very good care of us. There was a complementary starter of fresh vegetables and pate. The pate was so delicious that we ordered some additional pate. We then had the garlic soup which was different, but delicious. We ordered the Caesar salad, that prepared table side. I felt that there too much lettuce there for the salad. The dressing made by was fairly good but not as good as I was used too. One entree was the Fruits De Mer, a seafood dish.  It had shrimp ,scallops and fish . It was very tasty well prepared. I had the hanger steak that was medium rare with a side of duck fat fries For dessert we had bananas foster prepared table side. The menu was more Continental cuisine as opposed to a true French menu. The restaurant was very busy and appeared to have many regulars. Overall not a bad experience but it wasn't quite were looking for , as far as a true French restaurant. We left happy . I recommend the restaurant if your in Sarasota. read more

Had dinner in a booth on April 3. The French Manhattan was a huge hit. The wine pours are very generous. The early bird Tripletail special was incredible. The salmon entree was so tasty and cooked just right, enough for two meals. The service by Grace was fantastic. We love this fancy restaurant and it is one of our favorites. read more

We have visited Miguel's multiple times over the years visiting Siesta Key & have always enjoyed our experience. They have great parking and we can usually get a reservation last minute the day of. Cocktails are always good. We love the table-side Caesar salad service as well. The dressing is made in front of you from scratch & is delicious. If salad isn't for you, you have to get the French onion soup. It is absolutely amazing. From there my favorite entree is Le Boeuf Diane. Beef & puff pastry = a beautiful masterpiece! The prices are great for the flavor packed entrees. Our favorite dessert option is the dessert sampler where you can pick 3 desserts to try. We were a group of eight and everyone was excited to try this place- the menu looked and sounded delicious! Unfortunately this was not our experience. First, the place was dark, dated, and grungy. Next, the server was beyond rude. Curt and impatient when taking orders (we had an 88 yo in the party!) and made an absolute scene when another bread basket was requested. Oh and he did flambé right behind a few of us with no announcement at all- just hot flames and the smell of gas without announcement. Now let's talk food. 'Disappointing' sums it up. Filets were overdone (charcoal), fish didn't taste fresh (fishy), and half of the people in the party added salt to their plates (bland). Oh and our bill exceeded $600 by the way. Bad food and even worse service. Far too many amazing places to eat in Sarasota to eat here. I'd try one of them instead. read more

Miguel's was the PERFECT venue for our office Christmas celebration! Everyone was chatting up the menu the entire week before, deciding what to order so everyone could sample everyone else's. Miguel's didn't disappoint! Highly recommend the Petite Filet done with fresh mushrooms. The medium rare to medium requests were done to perfection. My mushroom soup was indescribably delicious, the consistency of egg drop soup, but heartier because of the mushroom medley. Everyone was curious to try their locally famous garlic soup, but said they couldn't really taste any garlic. Escargot was tried for the first time and he was a big fan! The lamb chops and duck also got fave reviews. Chocolate mousse was our all-around favorite (some opting to take home and share after such a delicious meal). We were very comfortably seated at a round table big enough for us to relax, enjoy each other's company, and share our selections amid the quaint setting decked out for the Holidays. We had seen many people going to this restaurant when we were eating at the fish market last night in the same plaza, looked into it and decided to go for the early bird dinner tonight. Well all was good, given garlic bread and a duck pate to start, continued with apps, 2 escargot and the garlic soup. Escargot definitely a small appetizer but had a very tasty butter sauce with it. My husband had the garlic soup and said it really didn't taste like garlic and couldn't come up with anything else that could've been in it. It's all good. the salad was delicious. Next was our entrée, which I had ordered the seafood in a puff pastry which I had inquired about before ordering to verify that it was sea scallops and not bay scallops which it was, but it was one actual one scallop, two shrimp, and a little bit of salmon. My husband had the veal piccata which seem to have a brown sauce with the capers and lemon and perhaps I had the same sauce in my seafood dish. It was also brown. Overall tasty and certainly worth the price for an early bird, of approximately $25 per entree . Dessert was ice cream, or a special, which was pumpkin bread pudding with ice cream, which was not very eventful, but still nice to have something sweet included. Nicely decorated restaurant with table side service for a châteaubriand perhaps or a fillet of sole that can be deboned table side as well as tableside Caesar salad. Where's the beef?, and the bread and the duck, and the dessert and the to-go boxes? We decided to try this establishment as part of Savor Sarasota... that's the point. What food we actually got was ok. Unfortunately the staff had to deal with a shortage of food and supplies. They were very apologetic. Apparently, the owners had left on vacation and didn't supply the restaurant adequately. The saddest part of the evening was one of our entrees... supposed to be beef bourguignon. The only piece of meat in the dish was the size of small candy bar ; unfortunately it was 80% fat. It was, frankly, embarrassing. The restaurant's response was an after dinner drink on the house. The dinner should have been comped. We won't be back to see if this restaurant gets its act together. Go at your own risk for a disappointment in dining. read more

First of all, I expect payment from anyone who reads my review of Miguel's French Restaurant, because I am about to give you a treasure of a place that was absolutely a "wonderful" dining experience...and a better word is...."EXCEPTIONAL!" And the dining experience was exceptional and unique on many levels! From the minute we walked into the restaurant and were greeted by the front of the house manager named Michelle, the MAGIC show began! There are times when one goes into a restaurant and it feels like the customer is treated like a number, - yes, "another table" to set up. BUT there are rare times where one truly feels that ~ "Welcome to our Home" feeling,- Yes-like a special guest which Michelle and the whole restaurant atmosphere beautifully expressed. Again, that's just where the MAGIC began. When we were seated, our waitress named Deanna, might have the spelling wrong, but she was so accommodating so gentle, shy, yet efficient and attentive... and most importantly, so helpful in giving excellent descriptions of all the dishes and made us feel like a guest at her home, especially since it was our first time there and we are New Yorkers. PLEASE don't hold that against my brother and I, - we are good guys, and we don't have a very heavy Brooklyn accent- but I dunno furr shuurre ? Now let's get down to the food. Yes, I am an older guy, I spent many of my earlier years in New York City at some of the finest French restaurants, like Lutece, Laurent, and La Caravelle and others. The flavor and atmosphere expressed in Miguel's has captured that classical magic atmosphere, and most importantly the food was also delicious in that tradition! I defy anyone to try their Steak Tartar dish and tell me it is not one of the finest in the world! This was not a chopped sirloin hamburger with a dash of salt and pepper, rather this was excellent beef, ground and prepared phenomenally well! I am always disappointed in restaurants when in order Steak Tartar. Years ago I ordered it at a French restaurant in Paris and it blew me away and what I was served at Miguel's had that same MAGIC! Their duck was magnificent, delicious, moist where it should be - and crisp, where I love it that way - and hypnotizing with flavors in many tastebud explosions! I am also a nut for excellent onion soup, and I don't just because there was a high-quality grade broiled melted cheese on top, which theirs has, but underneath that delicious dripping melted cheese- the actual broth mixed with the caramelized onions were TOP quality and excellent and so good I almost ate the paper doily underneath the soup bowl! In fact, rather than paying me for my recommendation of this restaurant, if you are hesitating getting the onion soup, instead of sending me payment for my recommendation, please order that onion soup,- it was spectacular! This Caesar salad made at tableside was also absolutely excellent. When finishing up and leaving the restaurant, we had a quick chat with one of the owners named Dan who explained that his brother Gabe was the chef and lived for his passion of excellence in food and they run their establishment as a legacy and testament to their Father, who started the restaurant and they both want to continue keeping it in that excellent tradition! One thing I know for sure, the founder of the restaurant named Miguel Garcia has a lot to be proud of, with his two sons! By the way, so do his two sons, in carrying forth the legacy of that charming and delicious restaurant in his excellent tradition. And the customers, like my brother and I, are the benefactors of that commitment. read more

We came to the restaurant early. It was the first early bird special we have ever tried in our lives. It turned out to be really good. We got a soup, salad and entree plus a half price drink. The filet mignon was great, done to our specifications. I got the steak with mushrooms. It was perfect. One of my table mates got the veal. She raved about it. Sofia was our waitress. She did a great job. She was very friendly and efficient. Plus the meal came with a dessert. All were good but the chocolate mousse was the favorite by far. We went in on a Thursday night for the early bird specials and we were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere is very cozy and charming as if you are joining family. Joe our waiter was quick and attentive to take our drink order. We ordered the potato soup and sirloin tips as part of the special along with salad with blue cheese dressing. Dinner consisted of Supreme de Poulet Champagne and Beef Tips Diane. Both were tender and so flavorful. Melt in your mouth tender! Joe our waiter was the greatest server we have ever come across and he is a great asset to the restaurant. We ended with the dessert included in the special, strawberry remoulade with strawberry ice cream and chocolate mousse. You could tell that both were made in house because they were so fresh! We will definitely return on our next visit to Siesta and highly recommend that everyone should try it! You will be so impressed as we were! We went to Miguel's for the first time in quote a while about 2 weeks ago. It was a disaster. We arrived at 6:15 and it was clear that the earlybird crowd was in high gear. We waited longer than normal to have our waitress ask about drinks, and should have known it would be a long night. We finally got our drinks (they were fine) and got our order in. I had a Garlic Soup, which would have been better hot than it was lukewarm. Salads were actually good, although the "vinaigrette" sure looked like creamy italian to me. Then we sat for well over an hour before our entrees came... this after we were assured "the owner is in the kitchen making sure you are next". Yeah, right. We should have followed our instinct to leave and pay for drinks and soup. My Steak Frites (ordered Medium) arrived somewhere between Pittsburgh Blue and Rare. I ate it, as I was hungry and angry and could not bear the thought of having it re-cooked. My wife's Seafood Trio included inedibly raw scallops, and only the upcharged Cobia was fully cooked. The owner offered a free dessert (but not personally) as compensation for a horrible experience. We were beyond shocked. We've had good meals there in years past, but are unlikely to return. The food was horrible my wife order veal with no sauce it looked like they boiled the veal in a pan threw some can crab on it and put it on the plate . The asparagus was over cooked and my duck was dry and over cooked sauce tasted like out of a can . Big disappointment I would rather eat at a fast food joint before ever going back to this place I would really sit back and take a good look at this place and food if I was the owner . Restaurant is very dark inside. Grungy carpet. The whole place exudes an "old" feel. Food is just average. Extensive wine list but very limit by the the glass offerings. They offer a table made Caesar salad for $22, which is pretty steep, but dinners come with a side salad. Double vegetable substitutions for the side salad? Forbidden! Won't return.
