TLDR: MIHO is the most unethical company I've ever worked with. They stole $23k from us and refuse to help us. I wish I didn't have to write this review, but I have no other choice at this point. I would encourage you to avoid this company at all costs. I've waited 4 years to write this review in the hopes MIHO would do the right thing, but sadly they've chosen again and again to act unethically. We purchased over $23k of catering services, and our wedding was postponed and then cancelled due to COVID. We paid $23k with NO SERVICES provided. We asked MIHO for a partial refund, to which they offered to give us back $2k (they said this was within their "ethos", seriously). I then tried to sell the credit at a discount to a couple in need, which they refused (because it wasn't within their "ethos"). I then tried to transfer the credit to an amazing local 401(c)(3) organization, to which they originally agreed but then have been unresponsive. read more

Saw a post of MIHO Catering on FB and instantly wanted to support and try their menu. The food truck is operating in June, Fridays 5-7pm and Saturdays 10am-2pm, parked in Kearney Mesa at their headquarters. I saw the fried chicken biscuit on the Friday menu and was hoping that item was there on Saturday but realized they change their menu daily so it was replaced with another item. So be sure to check out their menu daily before going. We came around noon and were told the Homi Burger and Papas Bravas were sold out. We ended up going vegan and ordered the Grilled Portobello burger and Chili Verde Chilaquiles. The mushroom burger was okay but the chilaquiles was the bomb! The chips were wet like semi soggy. The house made chili verde sauce was what brought every bite over the top. We saw two other families bring picnic lawn items to sit on the grass. I'm curious to see what items are released every Friday and Saturday. Who knows, I might consider them as a future catering company at my events. read more

I leaned on Samantha and her team for advice, support, and inspiration as I was unsure of what I wanted and what was possible when we started the planning process. Not only was MIHOs food an 11/10, the network or vendors they provided made it so the teams worked efficiently and collaborated to create the best wedding possible. We are so glad we went with Miho as our wedding caterers! Great food, customer service, staff, and everything! Lindsay answered our inquiry right away and then managed our account and any questions. We provided our budget as a starting point and she forwarded us some menu options for our reception. We decided to go with the taquiza station, their basic bar package, the affogato station, 2 passed apps, and added in a naked cake. It all went great! We chose pork sliders and carne asada fries as the passed apps. So good and nicely plated. The tacos were a hit and everything was so fresh and beautiful looking. So much color..from the pickled onions to the fresh cilantro. Affogato station- so cute and yummy! Everyone was stoked to have this as the dessert! Cake-the funfetti naked cake was simple and yummy Bar-okay this might have been the hit of the wedding! Great presentation and the drinks were epic!! We chose 3 specialty mixed drinks (tropic thunder, el pepino, and pretty in pink), 2 wines, and 4 beers. They let us add on our personal beer of choice in addition to the 3 you can choose from for an extra $1 per person. The presentation of the mixed drinks were sooo cute and everyone loved them! All their beers are craft beers and they have a great selection! Service: their whole event/ catering staff was professional, friendly, and efficient! Lindsay was so great to work with and she answered all our questions promptly. Overall, they did a superb job w the wedding, were flexible, and we've already referred others to them. I've tried their food at many catered events before and was excited that they were going to be at my sister's wedding. Tray-passed appetizers consisted of veal meatballs and chicken and waffles during their cocktail hour. For the main course, there were 3 kinds of sliders- short rib, burger, and chicken & biscuit, along with sweet potato and winter salad for the side items. There was enough food to try one of each item, so I asked for one of each! All the items I tried were tasty and filling, despite being used to having 10 course dinners at previous weddings LOL. I especially liked the winter salad- it was very light and refreshing! It seems like everyone else at the wedding enjoyed their food too because they were raving about it. The staff worked extra hard and were friendly and very professional. The owner even stayed until the very end to see if we needed help with anything. MIHO catering is the absolute best!! I got married in September and after my original venue fell through, we had to completely change plans and hire a caterer. After being a wedding planner for 6 years and working with almost every caterer in San Diego, I already knew MIHO was the perfect fit for us. Samantha was communicative, flexible and helpful throughout the process of planning a wedding in the middle of a pandemic. She gave us recommendations on how to modify the food service so that it kept our guests safe and it also made it feel like a more elevated event. The staff was gracious and helpful on the day of the wedding and WOW was the food amazing!! Guests kept telling us how great everything tasted and the staff made sure my husband and I were taken care of at every turn. Yep, my go-to and was so impressed. 2021 and yet another March birthday under the Covid cloud. Missed my 40th last year and was hoping life would be different. But...... I decided to throw a party with my neighbors who have basically become like family over the past 12 months. But we wanted to make things as Covid friendly as possible while still having good food and kids. I reached out to MIHO on short notice- less than 2 weeks. And they delivered. Fabulous options of food for adults as well as an amazing spread for the kids. Although I saw quite a few adults eating the individual fruit cups and pizza rolls. They delivered beautifully and set everything up with description cards and serving utensils. I will definitely be using them again for any parties or get togethers. I've waited quite some time to review Miho. Miho catered my wedding in April and they were absolutely amazing. I dealt with Sammy Strauss and she was great. The food was delicious, truly delicious. I am a big fan of them ever since they started back in the days of the Food Truck parking in Sorrento Valley Area. I would go almost every day they were there. For the wedding I wanted something low key such as Tacos but who doesn't love tacos?! is there anyone that does not love tacos? Tacos were amazing, meat was so tasty. We also decided to skip the cake and we just did a few desserts from them and they were all so good. The only disappointing item out of everything was the Churros. I know a good churro and these were so dense and just not good. The whole staff was extremely friendly, our guest loved the staff and overall it was an amazing meal and service they provided. We had such a horrible experience with Miho Catering that we want others to be aware, so you can avoid working with this company. We were planning a family brunch for September 2021 and reached out to Miho in late April to learn about their delivery services and get a quote. We were put in touch with an account manager named Lindsay who helped us put together an order that we were excited about. After a couple back and forth phone calls emails to refine the menu, we reached to confirm the menu and order with Lindsay. This is where things took a turn for the worse. We stopped receiving responses to our emails from Miho, despite multiple attempts at follow-ups. We sent three emails and multiple phone calls, with no response from Miho. Finally in June, we were able to get in touch with Lindsay on her *personal* cell phone, which the Miho main line number was still forwarding us to. She told us she no longer worked at Miho, and that someone else would need to help us with our order. We were finally able to get in touch with an account manager named Samantha in late June, who informed us that our date had since been booked up and that Miho were no longer able to support our event, despite our order and quote having been finalized for several weeks. When we reached out to explain the situation and express our frustration with being ignored for several weeks, Samantha responded that they might be able to support the date but at a 50% price increase above what we'd been quoted, just weeks before. Our initial finalized quote including delivery was for $745, and Samantha was now asking us to pay $1100 for the exact same menu, location, and date. This blatant price gouging shows how willing Miho was to take advantage of us during an already challenging situation - which Miho created, due to their lack of coordination and non-responsiveness - and is simply unacceptable. After some continued back and forth with Miho, they later ended up deciding they were no longer available at all for our dates. Needless to say, we will be looking for another option for our event, but now on very short notice in a busy season for caterers. I know the restaurant and catering industry is going through a rough patch at the moment, but we were absolutely shocked by the lack of professionalism demonstrated by the Miho team, including ignored communications, attempts at blatant price gouging, and a general lack of empathy or concern for our situation. There are many wonderful caterers with competent coordination staff in the San Diego area, but this is not one of them. Please stay away and take your business elsewhere. read more

Wow, these guys know how to make great food! MIHO is currently doing a Hops to Harvest collaboration with the San Diego Brewers Guild to put together a takeout four course dinner with local beer pairings every two weeks. First off - how cool is that? - and second, we've done two so far and these dinners are totally fantastic! The food is really standout. I hadn't heard of MIHO before this, but a neighbor we shared one of these dinners with had been to the food truck and she was immediately excited about the food. A few of the dishes we couldn't stop talking about: tuna ceviche, green papaya salad, ginger cheesecake, pretzel bites stuffed with pimento cheese, etc. all paired with great local craft brews. When we can't go out to nice dinners like usual, it's such a great idea to put something like this together - they really make the takeout experience so much fun, and the food is so well selected and deliciously made, it's like going out for a prix fixe meal at a fancy restaurant (but you can eat in your pajamas). There really are no words that will truly convey the gratitude I have for these guys. They really went above and beyond the entire process to make our day special and exactly what we had always hoped for. I have been a MiHo follower from the moment I first tried their Pork Belly Banh Mi. As soon as I got engaged, I instantly knew that I wanted them to cater my wedding. Once I nailed down the venue everything just fell into place. I immediately reached out and Samantha responded right away. She was very knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, and quick to respond to every email. She helped my fiance and I build the perfect menu to match our taste and budget. Fast forward six months...The day could not have gone any better. They arrived on time, food was hot and ready for cocktail hour and dinner, everything tasted DELICIOUS! MIHO has been a part of our company holiday party and monthly happy hours, adding deliciousness and becoming a favorite among colleagues. Well-known to be a farm-to-table gastrotruck, the dish that continuously stands out the most is their Mac & Cheese. Other appetizers/main/sides we have tried include (but not limited to): - Deviled Eggs: delicious and creamy, be careful vegetarians, I heard this one has bacon in it - Grilled Peach Skewer - Mini Lobster Roll - Cous Cous - Fried Chicken and Biscuit - Asparagus and Broccoli The catered food has great presentation, and hot items are in aluminum pans placed over wire racks and chafing fuel ready to be served piping hot in any setting. We were looking for an option for a COVID appropriate team appreciation dinner for our employees at Revolution Roasters and MIHO was amazing for this! The whole experience was seamless from start to finish, and the food options were so delicious. It was so amazing to be able to provide a meal and drink for our employees to thank them for working through this pandemic with a format that felt safe for everyone. We all picked out our food options (difficult to do since they all looked so amazing!) and then had a pick up location for our employees to grab from and enjoy together over Zoom. There isn't enough good things I can say about Miho Catering . The first time I order from them Was for Super Bowl weekend and everything was so delicious and fresh . We got the beef brisket , meatballs , the nachos and the antipasto . The food had so much flavor and such a hit for everyone . The customer service is top notch . I booked MIHO for a 40th birthday party, utilizing their corporate delivery service. Christin was so easy to work with - and the food was incredible. The delivery was on time since it was an assortment of items meant to be served at room temperature, I had minimal work to do as the party host! We ordered platters of chicken, steak and seared albacore, along with a large green salad, potato salad, beets/burratta, roasted carrots, roasted cauliflower AND orecchiette pasta salad. My husband and I booked MIHO and their sister business, Barcon, for our wedding this past March 2018 at the San Diego Botanic Garden. I worked with Meghan throughout the year leading up to the date and she was delightful to work with. She was quick to respond emails and extremely helpful throughout the process - from setting up food tasting, drink tasting with Barcon, discussing menu options, decorations and to the smallest details on the day of. On the day of the wedding - MIHO blew us and our guest away on their professionalism, food was epically delicious and the service was amazing. Our guests still rave about the appetizers and tacos! The cooks, servers and pretty much the whole MIHO team are so friendly! I believe even one of the co-founders was there to oversee the team. Lindsey was also wonderful - she made sure that my husband and I were taken care of and fed. I hired Miho for my wedding. All of the food was amazing and the servers were consistently making sure that I ate at my wedding, which I really appreciated. Sammy Strauss was my contact and I had a few issues with her during the planning process. I asked her for my invoice a month before the wedding, when I was receiving final invoices from the rest of the companies I booked. She kept pushing it off until the week before my wedding and then proceeded to tell me that I need to add 7 more tables to my order in order to build a kitchen for her company to cook in. Needless to say, I was upset and called the owner of the company. I received a phone call from Samantha a few hours later, telling me not to call the owner and to communicate with her directly from now on. A conversation that left me very uncomfortable. Ironically, after my call to the owner, she was able to find her own seven tables for the event and I no longer needed to pay for them. read more

We used MIHO at our wedding on December 2nd at a venue called BRICK at Liberty Station. I had experienced them as a wedding guest back in October of 2015 at a friend's wedding, and didn't consider or pursue other caterers, since I knew how awesome, stylish, and delicious they were. They proved this inclination 100% right at my own wedding! We worked with Samantha Strauss. I will warn couples that MIHO is super, super busy these days, so you may prepare yourself for less communication around booking, and then note that there will be tons of hands-on communication as your date gets into focus, particularly around the time where you begin to guarantee your final headcount (two weeks out). We made major menu changes to what we originally envisioned at that time (two weeks out) and Samantha was super helpful in guiding and reaffirming our selections. MIHO has a lot of options for different price points, so long as you have flexibility in expectations. I think their price point for options surround things like their taco truck or sandwich/burger options are affordable, and terms like "taco" and "sandwich" hardly do the elegance of these items justice. I would have loved to do this, but it wouldn't have suited my new husband's family's expectations. We went with their "Fork and Knife" style menu, served Family Style, and while not the cheapest wedding food in the world, it is worth every cent. By far the best catered food I have ever had, and we've received So. Many. Compliments from our guests. My husband and I insisted we actually sit down and enjoy our wedding dinner, and I'm glad we did. Our menu (136 people)- Passed Apps- mushroom arancini balls, Parmesan truffle fries (they come in small personal boxes for guests), and the bacon-wrapped stuffed dates. Family Style- fall/winter salad, fresh baked biscuits, apple/bacon roasted Brussels Sprouts, Swiss Chard & Goat Cheese Ravioli (extra orders of this because of it's popularity), Buttermilk Fried Chicken, and finally Slow Roasted Brisket. Dessert- Ice Cream Sandwich cart (adorable) and passed Churros on the dance floor! We also had four vegan guests, and they custom-made plated dishes for those guests individually. The number one compliment we received was on the Fried Chicken- people were blown away. Samantha was onsite all day at our venue and orchestrated excellent service, which also featured some servers helping to flip the room from ceremony to reception while our guests enjoyed Cocktail Hour outside. Again- long review, but an absolutely all-star catering service. Their stylish presentation added so much to our day, but the quality, taste, and portioning of the food made for a truly memorable experience that we really appreciated. read more

And we did a family style dinner, with the most INCREDIBLE food. One guest said it was the best meal of her life. We did a white fish dish with mushrooms that Samantha recommended, which was to die for. This chicken ravioli dish was equally incredible. Really tasty salad and the vegetable side dish we got was so good. Mac and cheese was so so yummy too. I seriously dream about that meal. For dessert, we did tray passed churros and fruit pavlovas during dancing. So good! If you are looking for delicious food that's so far beyond traditional (boring) wedding food, go with Miho. MiHo recently catered my wedding reception and cocktail hour. They were outstanding, from tasting to the party. They served 3 tray passed appetizers and a nacho bar for cocktail hour. The reception was a selection of sandwiches (the brisket was divine), hush puppies and a salad. For dessert, they provided an ice cream sandwich cart and salted caramel budino jars. Numerous guests commented on how delicious it all was and that they wanted to eat more but were simply stuffed. Miho is the best catering company! Samantha answered all our questions promptly throughout the process and attended the walk through at the venue one month prior to our daughter's wedding. The staff provided excellent service during the wedding reception and all the food was so delicious! We had tray passed appetizers...ceviche tostadita, curry chicken samosa, and spring flatbread. Then the dinner was served family style beginning with a spring salad, followed by slow roasted brisket, salmon in pho broth, roasted vegetables, and orecchiette & cheese. I originally hired MIHO catering for a corporate event in San Diego and all the staff really loved the food, the plating, and the service. So I decided to work with them again for my own wedding reception, knowing very well that the stakes are that much higher when it's an event for you vs one for a company. I'm happy to report that MIHO came through for us in more ways than one. From the very beginning, dealing with Samantha Straus their catering manager, I felt like I was in good hands. She knew what MIHO could do for the amount of people we wanted to feed and the budget we wanted to stay in. She helped guide me to an amazing selection of both passed apps and food served via very trendy looking buffet carts. She even helped us envision the event space, which was a private residence. The food, which for me was the most important part, was amazing! The duck confit tacos in jicama shells, the purple potato flautas with beet salsa, the brisket, sweet potatoes in tahini sauce....my mouth is watering just thinking about it. Oh and let's not forget their amazing mac and cheese for the kids, and adults who scarffed it down like nobody was watching. The bar service was also fantastic. They have a long list of signature cocktails that I selected a few from, and those were available to guests as well as the full bar with all the fixings. The staff was knowledgable, eager to please, nice, and professional. MIHO Catering Co is the crème de la crème. Not only is their customer service unparalleled, their food is DELICIOUS. In the midst of wedding planning chaos, MIHO is a breath of fresh air. We knew right away that we wanted Mexican food at our wedding -- a taco bar to be exact! We also knew that we needed to make the right catering decision in order to execute our idea perfectly. MIHO could not have been a better choice. Several guests (including LA foodies) made a point to tell us it was the best wedding food they had ever eaten. Even my grandma, perhaps the toughest to impress, had seconds! As for dessert, the churros were such a hit that they made their way on to the dance floor! If dancing to 90s R&B while eating a box of churros is wrong, then our wedding did not want to be right. Overall, I can not recommend Miho enough! From the very beginning all the way to the big day, they are professional, helpful, and a breeze to work with. Also, out of town brides, Miho happily travels! From the start/ initial communication phase/ figuring out our "dream" to the actual day of the event the professional, effective, and efficient communication from the MIHO team exceeded my expectations. Planning a DIY backyard wedding takes a lot of time, planning, and vision and MIHO's team (thank you, Samantha!) was an integral part of that from soup to nuts. I hadn't tried the food before the big day, but my fiancee had and I trusted him. Thankfully, he had not undersold it at all. We went with tray passed appetizers (mini lobster rolls and devils on horseback) and the taco menu and we were both more than pleased; and our guests were completely over the moon about everything. The servers were amazing as well; they were so friendly and worked so hard to make sure everyone was fed and that all details were taken care of from start to finish. I booked MIHO for my March 2018 wedding at Luce Loft and they did not disappoint. The food was incredible and beautifully presented and the staff they had onsite was great. MIHO catered our wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum this past April, and we could not be happier! For our Indian wedding, we asked MIHO for a menu that accommodated a large number of vegetarian guests, and for foods that were spicier/had bolder flavor profiles than a lot of the caterers we'd talked to. And MIHO delivered! Our guests raved about the food (the vegetarians loved the falafel bao buns--- others couldn't stop talking about the yakatori station). Our family style dinner also meant that everyone got enough food & exactly what they wanted. Samantha was great to work with throughout the process, very quick to respond to requests/changes to the menu & guest count, and was available to do multiple tastings when our parents were in town. MIHO catered my sister's wedding reception and it was delicious! This may have been the best chicken I have ever tasted! They also had steak and some kind of vegetarian stuffed pepper or something, all unbelievable! I'm glad I just found them on yelp because I'm going to start stalking them in real life I think.
