Good hole in the wall type place. Great prices, nice people and good enough skill. This spot is like your Tia's spot. It's very mom and pop and no frills type of place. It's clean, they are friendly and the prices are great which make up for where they lack. In this economy I was looking to trade in my $100 haircut for something more manageable and decided to roll the dice with this place. (This spot was less than half the price.) [[HIGHLIGHT]]A very friendly gentleman cut my hair and he had a young guy with his hair in process for an old school vintage perm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I showed him some inspo pictures and had a quick chat about what I wanted. I got a quote over the phone and came in with dirty hair since I'm used to getting it washed and cut as a standard. Here they will dry cut your hair and ask if you want an added wash for just a little bit more. (It was still very cheap). Throughout the hair cut he asked questions and gave suggestions. He dried my hair to make it bouncy and was very good at it. I would have liked for him to do a few light touches with the hair dry, but didn't. It was closing already and he had the guy with the perm waiting so i just decided to let it go. In my opinion my hair cut was good, a solid 8/10, but to be fair to them I got SO MANY compliments from people I didn't expect. I like to wash and go without a ton of product and the hair cut was great just air dried versus blow dried. My wavy hair had great body so I appreciated that and felt bad that I was a little critical in my first impression of the cut. I would definitely go back. Why the 4 stars? The owner (who was very nice and knowledgeable) waxed my eyebrows and she didn't put a towel on my shoulders. She put too much wax on the stick and a bunch fell on my freshly cut and blow dried hair and on my jacket She was very apologetic and tried to help get it off as much as she could and gave me tips for when I got home. But it was a huge bummer because it was a new jacket and it was such a preventable/careless mistake. This put a damper on my experience, but I'd still go back but be more vigilant which a customer shouldn't be...but for the price...you get what you pay for and right now paying less is my priority. I went to Mikas Hair Studio to get my hair colored on November 3rd. I asked them to color my hair dark cherry red/burgundy. 22 days later my hair had faded to brown and I called Mikas to fix it but they handled the situation so badly, [[HIGHLIGHT]]customer service was extremely bad.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 1. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Before going to the salon to color my hair, I told them about my hair color history, they ignored that and just told me how much I would have to pay for the total cost of the hair color.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] 2. When I got to the salon, they brought an apprentice to color my hair. She dyed it wrong so another technician, Mikas, had to come in and fix it and re-dye my hair - making me wait for almost another hour. 3. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After I tipped them $10, they did not advise or give any advice on home hair care to keep the hair color longer, which is what EVERY HAIR SALON SHOULD DO to help customers have beautiful hair like when they were at the salon.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]They blamed me and forced me to pay to fix my hair while their fault was not reminding or advising customers what shampoo to use to keep the hair color lasting longer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I dyed my hair at another salon and it did not fade quickly in 22 days. It is so unreasonable and ridiculous!!! I called to complain about the quality of their hair dye but they forced me to pay more to fix it red is not a color that fades easily, especially it is a dark red, dark colors do not fade as easily as light colors. I will never come back to Mikas Hair Studio again!!!! read more
