He never rushed to finish and was patient to answer all of our questions. As we went along, if there were things he felt needed more explanation, he would offer his advice to us. He has his camera handy at all times and also has his computer with him to interface with the radon test device to give us results right then and there after radon test completion. A few hours after the full inspection, the full digital report was in our email ready for reading. His website talks about how he has no overhead, and it shows in the price. He recommended three inspections, one before dry wall, the second before settlement, and the third 11 months after settlement. He said that the third one was a good idea because some of the builder warranties would expire after one year. I accepted his recommendations. He made the first inspection which resulted in a report and an invoice which I paid the same day. As for the second inspection, I contacted his office and arranged the inspection date approximately two months before my settlement. At the time of scheduling, the office contacted Chris for the fees. They got back to me with a fee of $223.49, which had to be paid on the day of the second inspection. I agreed. The day before the second inspection, I called the office to confirm the inspection for the next day. They told me that the fee was now $722.53. I was totally surprised and pointed them out to the quote that they had given me. They said that the quoted fee was correct, but now they think that they should charge more. They said that they had to contact Chris for the fee, which they did. Then they came back with the idea that they would be willing to complete the inspection for $622.00 instead of $722.53. I told them that if they wished to charge more, they should have given me more notice. The office lady thought that I had a good point. She said she would contact Chris and get back to me in an hour. When I received the final call, the message was that Chris would not agree to do the inspection at the price that was initially quoted. He wanted $622.00. I gave up, declined, and decided to hire another inspector. This was inconvenient for me because I was close to settlement, but I felt that the business behavior of this company was questionable and that I should not encourage it by accepting it.

At the outset, the situation was a bit unusual. We are renting this home with an option to…read morepurchase. So we wanted an inspection to know if there was any pressing issues with the home before we made a decision on the option. So we didn't want a typical home sale inspection, nor is this review reflective of that type of service. Let's start with the good. This company is very easy to communicate with. They are responsive and easy to reach out to. Joseph (who conducted the inspection) is also very personable. He did a thorough review of the home and even gave us some thoughts on how we might re-design, paint or structure the rooms in our house. Finally, the price was great, He understood the unique needs of my situation and adjusted it to a reasonable rate. My big issue came after the inspection. I negotiated the receipt of a report prior to the inspection as the landlord would need a copy. I had to continuously follow up on this after the inspection and then ask him to add issues he identified that I had written in my own notes but were not included in the report. Although I finally got a report, it took a lot of effort on my end to receive it (and it was a bit less comprehensive than I hoped for).
