I also asked them to check the transmission fluid and investigate a suspension knock that I was hearing/feeling. The owner checked the car and called me and we agreed on the work to be done and the price. He explained that the knocking was due to strut and sway bar wear and I decided not to have that work done this visit as he said it wasn't a dangerous situation. When I went to pick up the car I had additional discussions with the owner and I found him to be very honest and sincere. He understood that I was reticent to sink a bunch of money into a 12 year old car. He knew I had done my own brake work and said he was confident I could do the suspension work myself and even gave me tips on how to do it. The work LARC did was done well, with quality materials, and at a fair price - not cheap, but fair. The owner also checked out an old Mazda I had and while no work was done, that experience was also very positive. Another good feature of this shop is that the station is open late so you can go in after hours and pay and pick up your car. And "The Grill" also has great food to boot. There is always an element of fear when I take my car in to have work done. Mechanics many times are in a position to take advantage of customers, and many do. So besides knowing I am going to get quality work done at LARC, I feel there is great value in knowing that I can trust that I'm going to get honest feedback and not get scammed. I feel very fortunate to have found LARC and I will definitely be using them for future work.

I own a 1975 Corvette and took it to this shop because neither of my doors would open with the key. They assured me the issue was fixed and addressed additional problems causing my battery to drain. After spending several thousand dollars, I was told everything was resolved and given a warranty on the door repairs. Unfortunately, the problem persisted. When I returned, I was shocked to hear there was no warranty. I later had a trusted friend run a diagnostic and found out the root issue was a bad starter and flex plate--issues they failed to diagnose despite charging me $300 for their inspection. In total, I paid $4,500. My doors still don't work properly, and my car had to be towed again. To make matters worse, when I picked up my car, the driver's side door was damaged, and my new custom oxblood carpet and floor mats were ruined by water damage. This happened despite providing them with a custom car cover. I also felt pressured to pay after receiving two different price quotes for the same work, which seemed very shady. I had to get a tow which the last picture is. This experience has been frustrating and disheartening. If you have a car that needs repairs, I strongly recommend taking it to someone you know and trust. Quality service matters, and this has shown me how things can go wrong when money takes precedence over professionalism. PS. One of the modifications was the installation of an external oil cooler, which is always a good idea, but I think they also installed what hot-rodders call a "shift kit". I wish they hadn't done this. It shifts very hard, particularly 2-3 and 3-4. I'll bet that this thing lasts the 25k warranty, but my motor mounts and CV joints probably won't :( If you use this shop, ask about the pros and cons of any potential modifications they will be performing.

I tried filling each tire with air and only 1 tire would not hold the maximum pressure. After making an appointment with Alex, I dropped the car off so that he could take a look at it. What he discovered was that 2 of the tire sensors needed replacing. He couldn't find any place where the tire was damaged in any way. But, to be sure, he checked it a couple of times and what he found was correct. He gave me the estimate and I gave him the go ahead to do the work. He mentioned that he would contact me when the car was ready. Sure enough, he called to tell me that the car was ready and gave me the final cost for the repair. I went later that afternoon to pick up the car and returned it to my stepmother. She was elated! I was relieved! I enjoyed driving the car back to her as it was a smooth and quite comfortable ride. Thank you Cochran and Alex for making my stepmother a very satisfied customer. Great work performed in a day's time and my stepmother has found a mechanic that she's pleased with.
