I dropped my car off for the second time to Mt. Airy Motors today after being referred to them through my CarMax warranty. My A/C had stopped working last week and then yesterday I noticed my check engine light was on and my car was running funny. I am not the best at "car stuff" and Ted was very patient as I explained what was causing my concern and that I wanted it looked over too as I'm planning to trade in soon. Upon dropping it off I addressed all of this and then was given a courtesy ride back to my home. By 4 p.m. Ted had called me back to explain that the issue was caused by a minor part failing, it wouldn't cost as much as my warranty deductible to fix, and that they were going to charge my A/C to check for any other issues. As long as nothing else came up, I could pick it up this evening. He even ordered a part for me that needed replacing for when I go to trade it in! In my past experience with dealerships or other warranty services, I was expecting to be without my car at least through the weekend. Mt. I found Mount Airy Motors years ago and knew that I had finally found a truly honest Automobile Repair Shop that strives to do the job right every time they have worked on any of my own or my Children's vehicles. Today, I would give "Mount Airy Motors" and their New Shop in Westminster, MD, "Superior Car Care", 10 Stars for owning up to a mistake made after my Sons Jeep had the Brakes replaced last week and his Jeep broke down yesterday, with a bad Alternator in Westminster at the Chick-Fil-A near his home. I can typically do simpler repairs on vehicles outside of the engine, due to my training from the Carroll County Vo-Tech, so I loaded up all my tools and met my Son at his Jeep, so we could replace the Alternator yesterday evening after buying a replacement, except no matter our efforts, we could not get the Lug Nuts Off any wheels and could only budge 1, but it made a sound that I thought if we put anymore weight onto the new bigger tire iron we bought, that we would break the lug stud. My Son was understandably upset, because it is so hard these days to get things done correctly, and I was upset myself, but knew that the owner Ted, was a Very Fair and Honest Tradesmen. I called Ted this morning and after explaining what happened, he told me his guys are instructed to tighten all Lug Nuts to 90 in.lbs, which makes it possible to get your wheels off your vehicle with the tire iron that comes with your car so you can replace a flat tire. Ted let me know that he had a new Automotive Repair shop in Westminster, MD and he would send a guy over to meet my Son to check the Lug Nuts and take them off so we could work on replacing the Alternator. About 15 minutes later, Ted called back and told me that the Lug Nuts were indeed over tightened and that he had sent a stern warning to his Mechanics, as well as that he would take care of the problem to get my Son going again. Once I heard this, I knew that Ted is good for his Word and waited to hear back from my Son. My Son recently messaged me that "Superior Car Care" had taken care of everything, which included swapping out the bad Alternator, which I had not expected, but had instructed my Son to go ahead and have them replace it, since it's at their shop. Obviously, with Mount Airy Motors and Superior Car Care, something that appears to be a Curse, will turn out to truly be a Blessing. I took my 2013 Hyundai Sonata to Mt. Airy Motors to have the steering couple replaced. I had the same repair done on my Hyundai Elantra by a shop in Damascus two months prior. The garage in Damascus charged me over $1,000 to replace the steering coupler and misaligned the car in the process. Mt. Airy Motors did the same repair on my Sonata and charged me $264. When I asked them if they needed to realign the car after the repair, I was told that replacing the steering coupler does not involve the alignment. They have done other work for me as well in the last six months. I am very pleased with the work they have done and find them to be very fair in what they charge as well as honest and reputable. From now on, I will be taking my cars to Mt. Airy Motors when I need them repaired. read more

I had a coolant leak on the way back home to Ohio from Baltimore. I went to this place from a Google search. The guy got me in and looked at my car in less than a minute. Seemed like a really honest guy and the place was very speedy and did efficient work. I didn't feel like, as a woman, I was being taken advantage of. I highly recommend this place. Though the guy didn't plug the wiring to my headlight back in for some odd reason. That's about the only negative I can come up with. read more

These guys are great! I have them so all of my work on my Dodge Cummins. They really know their stuff and they have great customer service. Communication between the customer and the shop is great. They keep me updated on what's happening during any given repair. I never have any surprises on my bill. They always consult me before performing any maintenance that will increase the original cost. Mt. Airy Motors was incredible. I recently brought in my car because it was overheating. I thought it just needed a new radiator. I picked up my car on Thursday. On Friday evening the car overheated again and I realized that there was a bigger problem then I had previously thought. I was out for the evening and told them that I couldn't get the car to the shop until Saturday. Unfortunately they are closed Saturday. However the manager realized the difficult situation I was in and AGREED TO COME IN ON HIS DAY OFF TO HELP! I have been to other auto repair places who seem unwilling to help during store hours. I would not recommend this shop Mt Airy Motors.They had my truck for 5 weeks to fix an emissions problem I was having. In the 5 weeks all he did was an oil change and tire rotation. That was only because I was going out of town. Came home and dropped back off. He, Mark the mechanic said I needed rear axle seals done. He did that and as I was coming from PA I lost my brakes. Had it towed to Mt Airy Motors since he worked on brakes he said. Said I needed Hydra Boost. 2 more weeks,Got truck back still no brakes. This is a vehicle I use for daycare children so I took it to my other mechanic. News to me Mt Airy Motors charged me for the Rear Axle Seals and NEVER did them. Letting the owners wife know what was going on she informed me they could not return my money they need to be the ones to repair what they did. "YES" repair what they did but the dishonest mechanic they hired didn't do the work to begin with. So I paid for something not even done. If you choose this place I would get a second opinion!!! read more
