It's been a little over 24 hours since I've left Hazel Park Ice Arena, and my a$$ has not thawed…read moreout. My buns were frozen after a 45 minute game. The seating area is small and right behind the goalie. The glass is pretty beat up and hard to see the full game. The waiting area was large and it was easy to find the players after the game. The snack bar was half open and didn't have any products warming up. Even though it is not directly off the highway, the Ice Arena is pretty easy to locate. Just look for the building south of the race track parking lot. The best part about the game (since we lost) was the sound system during play. I haven't heard Thunderstruck or Fall Out Boy's Light em Up in a good long while.

The prices all of five dollars and they offer the open skate most days during the winter and more often then many of the other skate areas or in the schools like Lincoln. Located in Dearborn you get an eclectic mix of everybody and you get a Nixplay mix of the dinners and expert level skaters and I asked for those gators this gives all who have not had a chance to skate without feeling they are not as good as the others I know when I first started I skating it was something that definitely crossed my mind. I also know it would be something that we want to use potential night out coming up in the future. Those two things put together caused me to have a need to seek out something fun to do in winter weather

Unless it's Eddie Edgar, but I digress. The sheet of ice is grand and they maintain it well. I suggested a few changes in the boards and stanchions to improve upon the safety of someone hitting the glass. I don't think it's in their budget. They stared back at me with a stupider expression than people usually do. The staff are pretty chill and among the best. One of the few places where the bleacher heaters are always on. They do a sensational job cleaning and disinfecting the locker rooms. I know I appreciate that. Overall, a very well controlled ice arena. 1/20

During the times between periods you can warm up outside of the arena having some coffee. There is convenient parking. A very pleasant evening is guarantied!

The staff gave them a few tips, helped them up at times, and taught them how to get themselves back up. By the end of 2 hours they were getting themselves around pretty well without falling. Every staff member on the ice took time to help them. Highlight of our President's Day weekend trip and they're begging to go back.

I brought my own skates, and my husband rented his. The staff was very friendly! There wasn't much space to sit to put your skates on, so I could see this being an issue if it's very busy. We were quickly on the ice, and the rink was very well kept, and perfectly smoothed over! There were several staff members skating around, and one was more than happy to stop and take my picture when asked. We didn't have long to stay, but we really enjoyed our time! I could see it being very uncomfortable though with a lot of skaters, and we were just lucky that it wasn't too crowded. I will say that you should plan ahead for what to do with your belongings, because when you rent skates you get to put your shoes where the skates came from, but if you don't rent them, you have to pay for a cubby. I had a small drawstring backpack that I carried my skates in, so I used that, which worked fine! The little bar wasn't open yet, but we certainly would have purchased a hot drink had it been!

They boast clean locker rooms and a NHL sized sheet of ice. Not just ice hockey and figure skating. They have nice roomy open skate sessions. Most times this is followed by a fun event called "Sticks & Pucks. The large ice surface is perfect for this. You can also rent the facility for birthday parties or pickup hockey. You might even have other events in mind. There's plenty of space for nearly any ice activity. The staff I encountered was friendly and efficient. Located in the old…read morePlymouth Bowl that was built in 1962, this was the premier AMF Bowling center in Plymouth until 1978, when the same owner established the new and larger Plaza Lanes on Ann Arbor Road. Roughly 14 years later, the Plymouth Bowl was closed in 1992, due to the age of the equipment and its much needed replacement. With the growing interesting in hockey as a high school sport in Michigan, local businessman John Stansik and several others decided to buy this place and turn it into hockey arena. Currently, this arena is home to Victory Honda AAA Hockey Club, The Livonia Ladywood Girls Varsity Hockey Club, Kim Muir's "Can't Skate, Can't Play" power skating clinics, and the RSPI Adult Hockey League, where I was able to catch one of their games. With no end to the current NHL lockout in sight, you can attend one of the many events that take place at this local arena. Arctic Pond features the EDGEZ Pro-Shop, which can help you with all of your equipment needs. Moreover, the part I like the most is it doesn't cost an arm and leg to attend the events here. There are different levels Of instruction, for instance the beginners focus on the initial basics. The more advanced skaters focus on proper form, technique and goal preparation. The Peak also has very good in-house hockey leagues for all ages as well as the occasional tournament. I didn't get there but they have pick-up, drop-in hockey and my son has attended hockey camps here. I've read that they make their rink and other facilities available for birthday parties, holiday parties or corporate events at reasonable prices. I do know they had a killer snack bar. Everyone was in their cart with the whirly ball basket trying to make some baskets with great effort. It's so much harder than you think and realize. Don't knock it until you try it. I will say it was funny to catch some of the people facing in One Direction as their carts got stuck and piled onto each other. It's definitely a fun time and quite amazing. It's just as fun to watch as is it is to play and hard to play too.
