I never really knew what was going on, and the crews didn't seem interested in helping me understand. This year, I finally found someone who's different. John responded to my Yelp post quickly, was professional, knowledgeable, and genuinely wanted the work. He handled the opening, does weekly maintenance, and has taken the time to walk me through the different components so I can take on some upgrades myself. Can't say enough good things about John. He's easy-going, reliable, and has been maintaining pools across the Island for over 15 years. For my neighbors in and around Port Jefferson, the Three Villages, Mount Sinai, and Miller Place--John's been coming out to me, and he's a rare find if you're looking for honest, hands-on pool support. I suggested to do a search on Yelp and he landed on Deluxe Pool Services. I held my breath... and they came through. The services he gets include opening/closing and weekly cleanings. Dad is especially impressed because whenever there are issues with his pool, their customer service is so top tier, they are on it immediately to resolve the problem. Their location is in CT but you can see from the reviews that they work with pools all over LI (and apparently as far as Albany, according to my father). Their maintenance people are fast, friendly and thorough (I've been at the house a couple times when they serviced the pool). Reasonably priced, too. Important to note that my father is someone who doesn't tolerate inconsistent timeliness (this probably goes for 9/10 dads, no?) and they are always on time or they call. You really can't ask for anything more when it comes to pool services.

Instead, he insisted on putting it in a different spot, assuring me that he had leveled the ground and that it would be fine. The pool looked okay at first, but it only lasted one season. Last year, the liner ripped, and I initially thought it was my fault. This year, I had another pool professional come inspect it, and they immediately pointed out that the original installation was done very poorly. They found that there were tree roots underneath the pool that had continued to grow, causing the ground to become uneven and the pool to lose its level. I was also told that the area should never have been used in the first place because of the roots. I trusted his judgment when he assured me the spot was properly leveled, but it turns out that wasn't the case. While the pool may have looked fine initially, the poor placement and installation ended up costing me a damaged liner and additional repair expenses just a year later. I would not recommend this service based on my experience. If I could give a 0 star;I would.

I spoke to a friend whose opinion I trust and found out that he had TC Pools replace his liner 3 years earlier and was happy with the work. Since my friend is very meticulous about workmanship, I felt confident in contacting them. When I worked with Tom the owner to arrange for the job he was very friendly, helpful and professional. When I pointed to some imperfections on other parts of my 30 year old pool like the steps and skimmers, he did not try to take advantage of the situation and sell me things I didn't need, instead suggesting that if they were working fine, there was no need to replace them. When it came time to do the work last fall, Gunnar and his team were very professional and performed the replacement without any surprises. They also replaced the sand in my filter and opened the pool this year. I strongly recommend TC Pools and their team for pool construction and repair.
