The Three Cousins not only open/close pools, they offer creative solutions for the homeowner in need. They have open/closed our in-ground pool, power washed our home and exterior walkways, replaced a wooden gate, created a brick walkway and installed an interim drainage solution. They will shop for materials at Home Depot or the Pool Store if needed. Alternatively, you can provide all supplies. [This section of the review remains unchanged] We started using this company a few years back (when they were "Cousins Pool Service")*. Small, family business that was easy to reach via text. They've grown and now use a shared company phone/texting system to book appointments. We booked an appointment for an in ground pool opening today via text. When there wasn't anyone here by 2pm, my brother rang the company owner. His voicemail instructs you to ring the main company phone number. The receptionist collected the information and promised to call with an update. By 3:30 we figured they weren't going to call, so we called them. My brother explained everything (again), highlighting (again) that the appointment was confirmed via text. He was asked (again) who booked the appointment from the company. We have no idea who operates their company appointment booking system. The owner reached out via text to my brother just now (4:30) and confirmed we are not on the schedule. He asked for the details my brother has provided twice to the receptionist. Providing coverage to watch both of my parents is always a challenge as they are elderly. We booked the time and prepared the backyard. (Moving the heavy filter/pump monstrosity, buying chemicals, adding water to the pool, pumping water off the cover, etc, etc.) * The guys who work for this company are really nice. The end work product is excellent. It's important to show up. Full stop. Ideally, you should be on time. It's not the client's job to explain why their time is valuable. I'm sorry you were frustrated by this review. Habitual scheduling issues forced us to fire you. I flipped thru my phone to refresh my memory on two prior projects. Sean scheduled an 11am powerwash and was an hour late. He completed part of a 1-day project, returning the next day. When shopping for drainage/fencing material (3pm), the guys deviated to work for another client without any notice. Sunset was at 5:53pm with a storm that night. The old gate had been removed, the grass ripped off and a path dug into the ground. I'm glad the guys returned at 7:30 pm and enclosed the yard as we have an in-ground pool. However, putting sand into the hole was poor planning with rain on the horizon. It became mud. Additionally, the landscapers were unable to access the backyard with a moat. Upon opening, when issues arise the technicians were quick to resolve any issues without need for secondary visits. The closing is equally as good. The weekly cleaning and chemical balancing usually leaves us with a crystal clear pool. Again, a testament to the technicians ability and care. Over the years, we had a few major issues with our in-ground pool as well. Dario was always quick to respond and help to oversee repairs and helped with recommendations for 3rd party contractors (concrete repair and marble dusting ). I called big blue Pools and talked to the owner and explain the situation to her. She gave me a very reasonable price, which I paid for and scheduled the very next day a service call to his house. The Service crew that she sent the house was so accommodating to this disabled friend of mine. He was very impressed. They did an excellent job in the backyard covering the pool with plenty of water bags to make sure it lasted throughout the year. The way the service crew accommodated my dear friend, was very impressive that he called me up and said these were the best people I've ever dealt with. Five star service at its best!

I did my research and interviewed a few pool builders (there aren't many options in NYC), and I confidently went with Pete & Pat. What stood out immediately was how sincere and honest they were with their advice about my backyard. Initially, I had a lot of bells and whistles in mind--which, honestly, would have meant more money for them. Instead, Gus Pools actually talked me out of several things. They explained that some of them really weren't necessary, but told me that if I insisted, they would still do them. Thankfully, I took their advice because the pool came out amazing, and I ultimately realized I didn't need any of that extra stuff. Once we finalized the plans, the rest was a breeze. Everything was done on schedule, and they were honestly no bother at all. They went straight to the backyard and rarely needed anything from us. One thing I really appreciated was how well they coordinated with Middle Village Construction and Breezy Electric. Bonnie was always happy (and patient!) to take our calls (sometimes there were many ) and give us updates on the project. To be transparent, Gus Pools recommended Middle Village Construction, and their quote for the pavers was comparable to the other contractors I spoke with, so I went with their recommendation. It ended up being a great decision because everyone was able to coordinate seamlessly. I also used my own electrician, Breezy Electric, and Gus Pools were just as professional when he had questions about the pool construction, lighting, and grounding. That kind of communication between contractors made the entire project so much easier. All in all, if you're contemplating making a major investment in a pool, just go with these guys. You won't be disappointed. And now, two years later, I can say that the service has been just as good. They continue to service my pool, including opening and closing it, and they've helped with any issues or mishaps along the way. They keep records of your warranties, equipment, hardware, etc., which makes things much easier down the road. At one point, I had an issue with one of the pumps and Bonnie promptly set up service. Pat came by and fixed it at no charge. That says a lot about the kind of company they are. For anyone complaining that they don't service pools they didn't build, take it from someone who had more than 10 different people come out to look at and potentially renovate my old pool. It's difficult to take over someone else's build, know exactly how everything was installed, and then be expected to stand behind a warranty. I completely understand why they operate the way they do. Two years later, I'm still extremely happy with my decision to go with Gus Pools. Highly recommended.

Pete and the team at Gus Pools are hands down the best contractors we've ever worked with-- period. Honest, reliable, incredibly responsive and fairly priced. (In fact their prices are too reasonable and should be raised!) Just nice, decent folks you don't see much of these days. His recommendations were also fantastic- we used his mason, Eddie who was also amazing. And his architect Genarro Finelli. I saw some negative posts by a few haters about not being able to get Gus to service certain people's pools, because they weren't built by Gus. That just motivated us to have Gus build our pool so they could service it!
