Mike took great care of my car. My AC stopped working and he got me in pretty quick for a new compressor and freon and a hose. I believe it was fairly priced and much better customer service than at Honda. I had to take a long trip to be with my brother who was dying and Mike quickly took my car in to check the struts which I had been told needed replaced. I was able to make the trip quickly with his assurance. They even called me a few days later to see how I was doing, and express their condolences. I got my work done when I returned and it was a great service experience at a fair price. It is so nice to actually be able to talk to a mechanic about your car unlike Honda Service Department. I had used MTM after a terrible experience with another local shop that screwed up installing an engine. I had thought that I found a great shop finally from the work they did to get my new engine running well.   At the end of my most recent service there, I have a vehicle that started 1 time successfully and reliably, when i picked it up and drove home.  I now know a shop that I had thought was reputable, instead it's a shop run by a man with contempt for his own customers and the $ they bring.  A shop that is happy in today's climate to berate and verbally shout out customers on the phone that are asking questions like "so you are charging me to diagnose the previous work you have done?"   I took a new delco OEM starter to them to install, the previous one had stopped working.  I thought this would be a simple job.  It stared when i picked it up, but the new morning it failed to start.   I called and said I would bring it in to see about this, Mike was apologetic and said bring it by.  A friend helped me roll the vehicle a little and it freed up and started. I didnt have time to take it in but 2 times yesterday it failed to start and tapping the starter and rolling the car a little let it start.   I told Mike about it this morning and he said bring it in and they can check it out for a diagnostic fee.  I asked 'you'll charge me to look at the previous work I alerted you immediately about'  Yes he says and i question that as he gets louder and begins ranting.  Of the things he said was to bring him another starter (i supplied a new DELCO OEM originally) and he could test and diagnose it for a cost.   Then after I ask why he would charge to check the previous work for correct installation he starts ranting and yelling at me on the phone 'you know what, dont call me, dont bring that truck back, I wont work on it.'   I keep trying to talk and he keeps talking over me a saying 'why are you talking over me, why are you talking over me' in a gaslighting way. I got him to calm down briefly but he then spun way back up telling me my truck is too old with too many problems and he wont work on the truck.  He talked about the big discount he gave me to install the OEM starter I supplied, he charged $190 which seemed normal, not a discount. Regardless of the work, I'm not sure how sustainable any business can be with the way Mike chooses to communicate with his customers. I am looking for a new shop... We will not take our cars to another mechanic ever again. My father restores antique cars as a hobby and has my entire life, in fact he's won many awards for them. In 2015 he suffered a heartattack and hasn't been able to work any cars. Well I knew something was wrong with my car. I drive 50 miles round trip daily for work and I could tell. A shade tree mechanic gave me his best guess and an auto repair show on Marietta Hwy actually told me they fixed it but it wasn't fixed. I spent $300 and my car was still vibrating and sounded awful. I called this shop because my friend had used them last year. I actually called crying because I was so frustrated with people telling me I was imagining things and now my check engine light was on. It was a hot, Friday afternoon and I was 25 miles from their shop. They not only said bring it on in but said if you break down we have a tow truck to help. Within 2 hours I had a call from Mike with a diagnosis and a few other issues. I learned the part the other shop replaced wasn't even the cracked part and the cracked one was still in my car. He even showed my husband. I was upset and frustrated. We also live on an extremely tight budget with kids including one in college. I explained how much money I had to spend and asked what he could get done with that to get me on the road. The next afternoon my car was ready and sooo much better. I still need a few repairs but can't afford them. I will go back to Mike when I can. His shop stayed 2 hours after closing on a Saturday to finish my car. I would say that's good service. read more

This was at the Bells Ferry location. I'd say my experience was good, although customer service is that of any small, family owned mechanic... Could use some improvements. I brought in my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee because I was preparing to move across the country. He did an inspection, and he brought me into the garage to physically show me the issues, which I appreciated. My only complaint was a lack of communication ( ie: I had to call them to find out updates, instead of them calling me when issues arose or it needed an extra day) But the bottom line is the mechanic was no bs, honest, and he did what I asked... Which was make sure that my jeep got me from Atlanta to Denver while hauling 5,000 lbs with no issues, and it was very successful. If I still lived there, I would definitely go back. read more

Took in my truck to find out where the transmission was leaking. Mikes said it needed resealing in general so I paid then to reseal it from front to rear. I paid for the service and saw a nice fat greasy footprint on my new carpeting in the truck. First long drive after the repair, the truck developed a severe transmission fluid leak and had to be parked an hour away. Mike's towed it back and determined the new seals were inadequate and this time they would use OEM parts. No extra charges, they did the work and I took the truck home. First long drive out the truck loses brakes. Rear left brake line is now leaking fluid at the T fitting whereas it was not previously. I don't know why it would be a side effect but I do not believe in coincidences. I'm not going back and future transmission work will go somewhere else. read more

I love this guy. My wife says he is like one of those crazy guys from a 1950s American film who is nuts about cars. And he is. But not just any car my friends. Mike has a reasonably good and decent business repairing and servicing cars in the Woodstock area. He does great work, he is reasonably priced and a lovely guy. But that's not the best thing. The best thing about Mike is that he is the go to guy for Citroens in the entire South Eastern United States of America. He has about 10 of them out in his back yard in various states of disrepair. He has known and loved them all his life. I think he has even bought the distribution rights to Citroen in the South East should they ever come back into the North American market. He did everything to my 71 DS 21 and he did it magnificently: - repaired all the spheres - put on the European headlights - fixed the brakes - overhauled the entire hyraulic / pneumatic system Best of all - but also worst of all - when some joker took a left turn right into my path and made me T-bone him and ruined my beautiful gorgeous baby he totally rebuilt the car - new wings, lights, hood, all from parts he had out the back. Repaint job looks magnificent and you only know there was a problem when you open the bonnet and see the sad dilapidated broken horn, a hidden dream of what might have been. I love this guy and I miss him almost as much as anything else from Atlanta. read more

Went to MTM and had a potential Trans problem. Truck was not shifting properly. Mike the owner quickly found the problem and instead of just hitting me with a huge bill he took it a step further, investigated it for me through Ford and found that the part was still under warranty , and I walked away with a small service fee. I'm very pleased with this businesses honesty and integrity of which is hard to find in auto repair. I highly recommend Mike and his staff for his professionalism and prompt service. The person at the front desk called back to the shop to see if they could fit me in because she had already told me they were a bit short staffed. When she called back there I could hear a man yelling at her to write up the order and have him leave the keys. It was not a pleasant sounding interaction. My two sisters and I came out here to close up my dad's estate. We were on a very tight schedule and we all live somewhere on the west coast. My dad had a F150 that needed quite a bit of work before we could drive it back. They were busy with so many customers and they still were able to get all the work done, kept us up to date on where they were, did it at a great price, and were extremely friendly on the phone. This is a reveiw I didn't want to write. I reached out to the company 3 times with no response. They left me no choice. This review is for their Roswell location on the corner of Holcomb Bridge and Alpharetta Hwy. I'll admit it, I screwed up. I trusted this company without doing my due diligence on the repair, spark plug replacement. After the fact, I started thinking the charge seemed really out of whack. I called the Lexus Dealership and 4 other shops to see if I was unfairly charged. This is what I learned: 1) Mike the Mechanic charged me for 3.5 hrs of labor. All 5 shops I called quoted the job at 2-2.5 hrs. By saying it was a 3.5 hr job, the cost of the service was $95 more than it should have been. Ironically, I brought my car to Mike's because I did not want to pay dealership prices. Lexus quoted me $64 UNDER what I paid at Mike's. The other 4 shops were anywhere from $100 - $150 lower. 2) Mike's charged me $44 more for the spark plugs than the lowest quote I received and $20 more than Lexus would have charged. 3) I was charged $30 for plenum intake gaskets. I was told they were not necessary for the job. All in all I paid at least $150.00 too much for the job. Again, I was in a hurry and failed to do my due diligence up front, but that does not excuse the clear factt I was overcharged. It is especially bothersome that they got me for an extra $100 by inflating the time the job took. read more

Fantastic, fast service! I went in for an oil change and asked them to look at my tires because one was low. Synthetic oil change, tires balanced, rotated, and one repaired and I was out in less than an hour and under $75. Super nice people and they don't try to upsell you on extra services. read more

My father paid $500 for this shop to fix things they claimed needed fixing but really didn't. When he brought this to their attention they swore they knew what the problem was now and could fix it for another $325! What a joke! The car now runs worse than before with a check engine light that won't go off when it wasn't even on before. Thankfully he was able to take some time off work and fix it himself. Don't go here unless you have money to just throw away on needless repairs. read more

When we lived in Woodstock in the 1990's we brought our cars to Mike at his small shop up on Hwy 92. We moved away in 2001 and last year moved back and had our first occasion to call Mike again for a car repair. We were pleased to see of his business' growth, but to no surprise. My 2008 Ford Edge was not blowing cold A/C and took it to the local ford dealer for $199 diagnosis and estimate of $2500 to repair. It took the dealer a week to diagnose what was wrong and at pick up they could not locate my car. Called Mike, reintroduced ourselves and we took the car to Mike and $260.80 later (and less than 24 hours), the A/C system was recharged, cabin filter changed and blowing colder than ever and we were on our way. I wish I could give you a honest review of Mike the mechanic auto Repair but I can't get them to take my money. I've been in twice in the last for months to set up appointments for vehicles needing more than minor repairs. Both times I was told the person I needed to talk to wasn't available and they would call me the next day to discuss the problems and set up an appointment . Haven't heard from anybody yet. I've seen enough to not go anywhere near this company. Something so simple as to call a NEW customer back to set up an appointments can't be accomplished, I can only imagine what a poor experience I would have had with them if they had called me back. It's hard to gauge from my experience, but overall I feel comfortable with a four rating based on their kindness and patience. My wife's CRV was randomly going to 0% battery and could not be jumped, so we had to have it towed here to be inspected. We had asked our friends in our new area about mechanics, and several spoke highly of this location of Mike the Mechanic. They were easy to work with over the phone as we arranged the tow through insurance, and once I got there they fit me in as quickly as possible. I stayed in the lobby and did some reading while they ran a diagnostic. The annoying part is that they had no clue why it was at 0% after the diagnostic, so they charged it up and only charged me for the diagnostic. They said that if it happened again and I brought it there, they wouldn't charge the diagnostic fee again, which I felt was a pretty good way to stand behind your work in this particular instance. The waiting room was fairly comfortable. There were some chairs and a couch with a TV and remote easily accessible. A lot of places inflict whatever they want to watch on you, so having the remote available was a nice touch. They had some magazines laid out in case you're less nerdy than I am and don't travel with books or a kindle or other reading materials (English Ph.D. students have no choice - at least until the end of the semester when they fill out their back-log of Yelp reviews instead of writing that annotated bibliography or seminar paper...). They also had some sodas in a mini fridge, coffee with flavored creamers available, and a dish of candy. I came here in May or June (English Ph.D. students at the end of their semesters are also likely to be lost in time), and the Coke cans and candy were all Christmas themed wrappers and cans, so the candy was a tad stale, but I've never really tasted a midnight Milky Way that struck me as "fresh" in any real way. In the end, we had to take our car to Honda for a service bulletin they have twice failed to look at when we took it there for the same problem. I don't blame Mike the Mechanic at all, though, because they knew from me telling them that it had only been serviced at Honda up to that point. They, like us, likely assumed Honda had done their job instead of banking on Honda's inability to keep up with its own internal memos on how to keep their cars maintained. I hope never to be back, but if and when I have to suffer a car issue again I would definitely have these folks at the top of the list. read more

First experience here was Awesome! We moved to Dallas, Ga and I wanted to return because I liked the service. I called before to check timing before driving from Dallas to Woodstock. She assured me they were not busy. We checked in and waited atleast 15 minutes before she came and told me it would be an hour to an hour and a half before they could get to my car.... Is Mike the mechanic the only mechanic??? We left! I called before coming because we had a busy day preparing to leave for vacation. Ridiculous to me that as the customer I prepared on the front end and called only to drive and have my time wasted!!! read more

Ladies BEWARE!!! I called and spoke with Mike specifically about a water pump for my GMC... I gave him the vehicle specifications (including engine size)...he said "come on in, we can do it now"...so I did... 4 HOURS LATER...the repairs were suddenly over $100 more than quoted...when I asked him why it was more than what he told me earlier that morning, he said "oh, you were the one I spoke with this morning? ....well, I was not sure about the engine size (not true), so I looked up the wrong part.. when I realized it, I did not have your number to call you back".....DONT TRUST this place!!! I have waited to fill out a review to make sure my car did not break while it was under warranty. I took my car to MtM to get the clutch done as I could start to smell clutch smoke. We had used MtM for work prior to try and help out a local business so, we had some trust built in already in their work. That trust was quickly eroded when they cut the fly wheel wrong and the clutch would not work right. I ended up taking it back 3 times. The first time the mechanic that worked on it went on a drive with me and said 'whoa, that is not right'. So, I left my car and when Mike got to it he called me back up for a test drive he tried to tell me that was normal for a new clutch. I should have never left with it at that point. I ended up at Toyota a month later for them to trouble shoot the problem. I was promptly told the fly wheel was cut wrong. So, back to MtM I went. I had to do the loaner car all over again. They finally got a new fly wheel and of course, it was then perfect. I paid RETAIL for the new fly wheel and was told they would do me a favor by not charging me to tear it all apart again. I was happy to pay for the fly wheel to begin with. And, over a year later I am still mad wondering what kind of damage was done to my car with the bad fly wheel and the shaking while using the clutch. I am mad they tried to convince me it was normal to shake with a new clutch. And, I am mad as the work would have been cheaper at Toyota to begin with. Bottom line, they are dishonest and I will never return with any car I own. The mechanic that did the work knew it was wrong but the owner tried to lie to me. read more

Just returned from the shop on Toonigh road where they attempted the BAIT and SWITCH. As a few posts below describe they advertise a $39.99 synthetic oil change. There is a HUGE billboard around the corner. I called ahead, made sure they could take me promptly. Checked the car at which time they knew my make/model etc. Went across the street got my hair cut, came back and sat down. 20 minutes later (so now about an hour has passed) the office personnel come back and say, sorry but your oil change will be $65 dollars because my car requires a special filter (it does not). I immediately pushed back and then they said they would split the difference and give it to me for $55. I still declined. This was the second time, shame on me I should have learned. A few months ago I took my wife's SUV there which has a standard sized engine, therefore doesn't require more quarts or a special filter, but I had asked for the oil change and tire rotation. I figured the rotation would add a little so I didn't dig in when I left with an $85 charge. read more

I don't know what these other yahoo's are saying but my experience was excellent. I've never owned a new car. I've always bought used and I've been driving for over 30 years now so you can imagine I've been to my share of mechanics. I'm cheap as well so I do my best to make sure what repairs are being done are both necessary and in the right price range. Recently my suburban needed to have the tranmission rebuilt. I took it to Mike at first just because he was the closest to me. Once he diagnosed the problemed, showed me what had occured with my transmission and had given me the price I started shopping around. He not only hit the diagnosis on the head but had given me the cheapest price I could locate. Mike and his team had me up and running in 2 days and when it came to making the financial arrangments he wanted to make sure that I wasn't hurting myself or my family. You see it was around Christmas and we really couldn't afford both Christmas and this. Let's just say that Mike played Santa last year! I refuse to take my vehicles anywhere else, even for the occasiional oil change I don't have time to do. His prices even beat the express oil places you see. They were busy the day I limped my truck into their shop, but I don't know why. Although nice they GROSSLY overestimated the cost of replacing my radiator and headgasket ($1500). I had it towed from there and had the same job done for $800 including towing. They also charged me $40 for the mechanic to spend 30 seconds to look at it and say that it was low on antifreeze.
