I have driven past this restaurant a million times, so I knew exactly where it was when I saw pictures of their tacos on Yelp today and decided to come. Totally wanted carnitas tacos or burrito because of the reviews. But today? They had no carnitas. I'm a carnitas loving gal, love it shredded, greasy, fatty and salty with a squeeze of lime so I was bummed for a quick 10 seconds. I decided to order food for my kids since there was no carnitas for me: asada tacos, meaty Carne Asada Burrito, giant Cubana torta, giant chilanga torta (same as Cubana except it has pineapple in it) and a side of chili peppers. The aroma of this food as it wafted through my car was amazing. I decided to eat 1/2 of ithe giant chilanga torta and wow. The flavor and texture and adding the dark spicy sauce was immensely satisfying to scarf down. Love the pineapple in it. My son enjoyed his tacos and my other son liked the meaty burrito. The chili peppers are all mine. Haven't tried the Cubana yet but I'm sure its as good as the rest. This is a great find. We are definitely returning. Service was friendly and my food was ready fairly quickly. Oh and there's ample parking in the back. read more

I ordered the jamon torta ($10.99) for my family and pierna burrito ($10.99) for myself. The food portions here come just right, and I'd say that it's worth trying once for the great taste. The pierna burrito had juicy, soft, and slightly spicy shredded pork. Their green salsa had a medium spice level and went well with the burrito. Ordering here is easy, and the cashier helped explain what pierna is. There is no seating inside, but there are some tables outside. The restaurant is small, so there's a chance of missing the driveway to reach its parking lot. read more

This is my second time trying Mike's and it has been great! Both times I ordered an Asada Burrito and a Hawaiana Torta, and the taste was consistent. The burrito was packed with asada and had the perfect amount of rice and beans (I don't like too much rice and beans in my burritos). The torta had a nice balance of sweet and salty, and it's HUGE. The restaurant itself is small. There is outdoor seating and the lady that took my order was very nice. Would recommend! read more

Third time here getting a carne asada burrito and it never disappoints. Always full of meat and never any fatty chewy chunks of meat like some other places. The green salsa to go with it was fire as well. I call it in before I get there and it's always ready in time. Overall good experience. You can never go wrong with a hamburger combo here. The food is so fresh and they use whole lettuce, not shredded lettuce. If anyone likes shredded lettuce, they don't have that on the burgers the fries are super yummy and their island is really good as well. customer service is always friendly, I've only eaten inside once and it was really clean and they have a fountain drink. read more

Was heading home and was craving a torta. Ended up finding this gem. Walked in was greeted right away and asked what I would like. The menu wasn't big at all. I ended up ordering a carne asada torta to go. The wait wasn't long at all. It was a rainy day so decided to just eat my food in the car. But boy was it good, the meat was tender and bread was toasty but also soft, and their red salsa was the bomb! Definitely coming back soon. read more

Way to go LA for another terrible Asada. Food is not cooked to order. Can tell it was cooked earlier then sat there for a few hours while the meat turned dry, rubbery, and tasteless. Judging by the reviews, this is more proof that people in LA so not know good asada. read more

I am #thankful on this #ThankYouThursday for this small La Habra eatery! I wish I took pictures of the food but the plates are too good and the kids and I eat them up quickly! The food is made to order and it's a bit of a wait, but it's so worth it. The tortillas are heavenly. There is a small fee to use a credit card/debit card. This is probably why it took me awhile to try this restaurant out. I was finally able to pay with cash and avoid the hassle of the surcharge. I'm glad I did because it's our new "go to" Mexican spot. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and really enjoyed the texture. It's not your average quesadilla, it's super moist and warm. My kids love their tacos, they're flavorful and just the right size for them. I would imagine an adult could eat at least two. The beans appear to be Peruvian, which I prefer. I wish they would sell larger trays for group meals but I'm guessing it's a family run, small batch kind of place which I can appreciate. Thank you Mike's Authentic! They have the best chicharrón tacos they are juicy and the meat melts in your mouth . The tortas are so tasty and so thick and full of meat and ingredients they don't skimp out . The two salsas are soo good if you like spicy get the red the green one has a good flavor too ! We come at least one a month lol read more

Friend lives nearby so tried it out on a Saturday 5pm. Phone ordered 2 chicharron & carnitas mix tacos, but they dont allow to combine meats. I know not everyone does it, but its a very simple request of the customer that can make happy. Then I was told no Al Pastor, no Red Salsa. So i settled with Asada & Carnitas taco, and bean and cheese (my way of knowing if a place is legit is if has good beans). Tacos were mid and drybeans were surprisingly not bad. It's legit! I was hoping this place was as good as the hype because I love supporting small/local businesses and this place is small. Definitely mom and pop type of place, in fact pretty sure they are the only two employees. Happy to report, it is as good as the hype. I tried the chilanga torta, which has milanesa, pork meat, ham and pineapple. I know, pineapple on a sandwich, but everything sounded pretty good. I was going to order the torta without the pineapple, but who am I to argue with the creator of the sandwich so I went with everything. Worst case, I pull out the pineapple and toss aside. So glad I went with the torta the way Mike intended. Was savory, with a slight sweetness from the pineapple and all held together with bread that held everything together. I've had similar torta where everything falls apart after the first bite, but not this time. It was good to the last bite, but I only ate half. Why only half, I needed to save room for the chicharron quesadilla. Seemed to be a popular choice, so I went with it. They tortilla is hand made for this dish and it's perfectly sized and cooked. It's more like an extra large and long taco, with corona cheese, lettuce and tomato so don't expect the gooey cheese on a flour tortilla kind. This was delish! The chicharron was the soft kind simmered in sauce, with a slight sweetness almost like al pastor but was delish and had more meat texture than I'm used too. Frankly, I think I would have preferred this fish with asada or carnitas, which will be my next order, but really good none the less. They are also great about the salsa to go. I asked for extra cups to go and you can see from the picture that they gave me plenty. I offered to pay but he refused so I just put the extra couple of bucks in the tip jar. The red is tasty with a kick and the green has a raw citrusy flavor. Both are really good and went well with the food. Give this place a try and don't worry about the size of the place. They have plenty of parking and seating outside if needed. Or just do what I did. Call ahead and take the food home to enjoy! read more

Got the Torta Chilanga with a couple different meats and pineapple. The torta was delicious and the size was probably enough for two people. The place is squeaky clean and the counter attendant was great. We got three different flavors of tacos, All of them with the works (onion and cilantro). All the tacos were very full of meat. The Carne Asada tacos were tender and flavorful and not fatty or grisly. For the chicken, there were huge chunks with a delicious flavor but slightly dry (I'd be willing to try them again). For the Chicharrón taco, flavorful and juicy (my favorite of the three flavors) As for the beans and rice, they were decent size portions. My wife and I found the beans to be spot on. They had a good flavor, they were hot in temperature, they were not too dry or soupy, with just a slight amount of what I can only guess as lard added to them. Super delicious, would get the beans again. As for the rice, it was light and fluffy with again what I can only assume is a small amount of lard added, but really not a whole lot of flavor. to improve them, for me, I had to add beans and their sauces. There are two delicious sauces one red and one green. The red sauce has a delicious smoky flavor that is not even as hot as a famous fast food Mexican franchise restaurant's (TB) "Hot" sauce in the packet. The green sauce had no heat but was deliciously fresh tasting. I think I got the flavor of cactus. All things considered, for the price, I would ditch the rice and order two more tacos. I subtracted a star for not having chorizo for their listed chorizo taco and their bland rice. read more

Holy Mother of God that is a good torta. I might be willing to give up a finger to eat another one of those. Fortunately for me, it only takes about $9 and they don't take fingers as payment. The Chilanga torta is spectacular. Seriously, maybe a top 10 sandwich of my life. That's saying something since I eat enough sandwiches to feed one quarter of the Earth's population. So many distinctly separate but complimentary flavors on this, every ingredient is thought out and just the right amount. Milanesa, ham, pineapple, avocado, tomato, jalapeno and who knows what else. All perfectly cuddled together in outrageously fresh and toasty bolillo. Seriously, this is a destination worthy meal. Don't let the inside scare you. The paint job is halfway done and the menu board looks like it has been there since the dawn of man. Let's call it rustic. Was looking for a place that sold tortas and decided to atop by and give it a try. Don't be fooled by the exterior or interior for that matter, the torta was really good and it came with avocado as a topping for free! I tried the torta that has pineapple and milanesa and something else (I can't remember the name). It was super filling and flavorful. I had mine with the green salsa and it hit the spot. It can seem a little pricey, but for a fresh cooked meal and the portion size it cant be beat. I definitely recommend. 10/10 read more

I went very excited to eat one of their delicious burritos but boy was I disappointed . Not sure if they changed the cook but the carne asada was very condimented and did not have their usual seasoning and the pieces were cut huge not small like always. It was a waste of my money. We ordered the cubano torta. So much stuff crammed into a bolillo! It came with ham, chorizo, milanesa, beans, guacamole, tomato, lettuce, and jalapeños. So much flavor and the thing is huge. Make sure you get some of their green salsa for the ultimate taste! It's totally shareable too. We didn't order any fries or sides and it filled us up perfectly.
