Been going here for years... no más! The waitress insulted my wife saying the pan dulce was not to be taken home, which we weren't planning on doing anyways. I guess she said it in a condescending manner that wasn't appreciated especially since we go there a few times a month and it was unexpected... disappointing to say the least. Meanwhile we witnessed several customers stuffing the breads in their bags before leaving. This was the Sunday brunch... they have also double charged us on one occasion but made good on it when I showed the bank statements. I started a keto diet last week and my wife and I were shipping close by. We were both hungry and I suggested Senor Campos. But I quickly changed my mind because of my diet. My wife, who was now in the mood for Mexican, told me, "just think about what is keto friendly and make a dish..." OK, I thought chile relleno was good with cheese and an egg white batter. When I got to the restaurant, I ordered the pollo picado (diced chicken with bell peppers, onions and tomatoes) but substituted the rice and beans (which in my pre-keto life I loved!) for a side of chile relleno. I also ordered the albondigas soup (a meatball soup with zucchini and carrots and onions in a beef broth) as a starter since I couldn't indulge in the chips and salsa. Let me tell you, when I poured the diced chicken over the chile relleno it was AMAZING! The tomato sauce of the chile relleno was a perfect pairing for a savory and satisfying dish. I left pleasantly full and delighted with my new creation. In fact, I had to share it here. So if you're keto conscious and want a delicious Mexican alternative, try this dish. What a great spot. This place has been here for years, the menu says 50 to be exact. That's long enough to know it must be consistently good. I've been in the area half the time this place has been open and hadn't had the opportunity to give it a try. So here we go... The outside displays a sign that says Senor Campos but it also has a sign that mentions Tilly's lounge, so that created a little confusion. I stepped inside and was immediately greeted. There was a sign that mentioned a happy hour but I didn't see a bar. Soon after I was seated and provided with a menu, chips and salsa. The chips appeared to by pre purchased. The salsa had great flavor and possibly made in house. We started with a michelada and a margarita. The margarita was strong and tasty. The michelada was really good, surprisingly good as I hadn't had one that good in a while. We went with chile relleno and a wet burrito plates. Both were accompanied by tasty beans and fluffy rice. They both appeared to use the same sauce which was also very good. Smothered in cheese and soaked in sauce was not bad, the insides of each creation were very tasty. I would have each of these again. I asked for their hot salsa which added a spicy kick. Overall I do look forward to returning to partake in more of their menu options. FYI, I found the lounge/bar as I was walking out. read more

Generally we really enjoy eating at Señor Campos, so tonight we order food to go. They took our order and we sat down to wait for our food. After about 30 minutes my husband got up to see what was taking to so long and our food was just sitting there. We ordered beef cocido and a carnitas burritos. My husband's burrito was the size of a Taco Bell burrito at best. The soup was OK but definitely needed flavor .Overall the food was not good. Looks like we will not be going back their take out food to go read more

Chips are dried out and sus for being reused possibly salsa too. carpet stinks like 50 year old carpet. condiment bottle serious case of trenchmouth around opening and caps (meaning never wiped) "some" meat in the lukewarm menudo. if you eat in bar sit away from walls, someone washes dishes that bang around and are noisy. I've been coming here for over twenty years and my husband has been going there for over 45-years! I have always enjoyed their ambiance. It reminds me of restaurants when I was younger; kinda dark lighting, cozy booths, waitresses in ruffled dresses. My favorite time of year to visit is around Christmas because it's always decorated so pretty! I love their bean soup. It's creamy and delicious; sadly a cup of it leaves me unable to finish my meal, but I like leftovers so that's fine by me. Senor campos is a Mexican restaurant Cassie F. and I come to at least once a year. It's a classic sit down Mexican Restaurant that takes you back in old time Mexico. Upon sitting down, you will be greeted by the server. There is another runner who doesn't speak much English and speaks only Spanish that will bring you chips, salsa, and drink refills. There are lots of options on the menu but my go to is the beef taco, cheese enchilada, and Chile relleno combination. Not only it's the perfect trio but it really is the best dish to get when you're indecisive. It is the best of three worlds. It also comes with rice and beans in a huge portion. You will definitely have leftovers to take home. The ambiance is amazing here, lights are dim in a romantic setting, old school setting. Worst dining experience I've ever had!! Waitress walked past us twice while we had all our menus stacked at the edge of the table. We had to call her over to order. She turned around as soon as she finished taking our order and didnt give us a chance to ask for our missing silverware setting or extra salsa. Had to call her back again before she walked away. We had to call her over again for refills to which she took a soda cup to the back to refill instead of bringing a fresh cup and then dropped off a pitcher of water without offering to fill any drinks. The only time she came to the table was to ask what kind of tortillas came with our to go order 3 seperate times. The only reason we were even getting a to go order is because she forgot to bring it as an appetizer. Then to top it all off she adds gratuity even though menu says on parties of 7 or more, there was 6 of us. She said it was because she counted the items instead of the people at the table but I think she was hoping that we wouldnt notice and get an easy tip without having to work. The restaurant was not busy at all and she seemed to be very friendly with her other tables but was actively ignoring us, another reason I feel the forced gratuity was intentional. Didn't help that most of the wait staff seem like they have been working there since the place opened. Unfortunately the waitresses are too old to be efficient, they move slowly and they cant remember the orders. Definitely would not recommend or visit again. Honestly this all could have been avoided if she just checked in with us. Hey ill be right back to take your order just need to run to the kitchen or any refills needed or just a simple everything okay? This place is very old school. The Abondiga soup my wife loves, for me it's too bland, but she loves it. Tried the Carnitas plate which was not bad not great but not bad. This is a family owned restaurant with lots of history in this area. Chips come with a very mild salsa and a spicier version which is good for most. read more

Missing El Ranchito- we need to find another Mexican restaurant- You have to try Señor Campos on Whittier in La Habra. A long-time, well established place located in an unassuming aging strip mall. Don't let the lack of aesthetics turn you away. Inside will take you back to the 70's and the food is absolutely delicious. Service was fast and friendly and we really enjoyed our meal here.
