Close up of the pollo picado over a side of chile relleno
    Anthony P.

I started a keto diet last week and my wife and I were shipping close by. We were both hungry and I suggested Senor Campos. But I quickly changed my mind because of my diet. My wife, who was now in the mood for Mexican, told me, "just think about what is keto friendly and make a dish..." OK, I thought chile relleno was good with cheese and an egg white batter. When I got to the restaurant, I ordered the pollo picado (diced chicken with bell peppers, onions and tomatoes) but substituted the rice and beans (which in my pre-keto life I loved!) for a side of chile relleno. I also ordered the albondigas soup (a meatball soup with zucchini and carrots and onions in a beef broth) as a starter since I couldn't indulge in the chips and salsa. Let me tell you, when I poured the diced chicken over the chile relleno it was AMAZING! The tomato sauce of the chile relleno was a perfect pairing for a savory and satisfying dish. I left pleasantly full and delighted with my new creation. In fact, I had to share it here. So if you're keto conscious and want a delicious Mexican alternative, try this dish. Oh, and if you don't care about carbs, then put it in a flour tortilla and make one helluva burrito...

What a great spot. This place has been here for years, the menu says 50 to be exact. That's long enough to know it must be consistently good. I've been in the area half the time this place has been open and hadn't had the opportunity to give it a try. So here we go... The outside displays a sign that says Senor Campos but it also has a sign that mentions Tilly's lounge, so that created a little confusion. I stepped inside and was immediately greeted. There was a sign that mentioned a happy hour but I didn't see a bar. Soon after I was seated and provided with a menu, chips and salsa. The chips appeared to by pre purchased. The salsa had great flavor and possibly made in house. We started with a michelada and a margarita. The margarita was strong and tasty. The michelada was really good, surprisingly good as I hadn't had one that good in a while. We went with chile relleno and a wet burrito plates. Both were accompanied by tasty beans and fluffy rice. They both appeared to use the same sauce which was also very good. Smothered in cheese and soaked in sauce was not bad, the insides of each creation were very tasty. I would have each of these again. I asked for their hot salsa which added a spicy kick. Overall I do look forward to returning to partake in more of their menu options. FYI, I found the lounge/bar as I was walking out.

First time here Food: was not bad at all only the salsa bland to much tomato flavor could use onion and jalapeno. Service: was good just a little slow but it was busy Ambiance: not bad lighting was to low Overall would comeback

Their cup of bean soup is so creamy, delicious, and filling. I always order it even if that means that I can't finish my meal.

I've been coming here for over twenty years and my husband has been going there for over 45-years! I have always enjoyed their ambiance. It reminds me of restaurants when I was younger; kinda dark lighting, cozy booths, waitresses in ruffled dresses. My favorite time of year to visit is around Christmas because it's always decorated so pretty! I love their bean soup. It's creamy and delicious; sadly a cup of it leaves me unable to finish my meal, but I like leftovers so that's fine by me. It's a bit of drive for us to visit, but we're always happy when we make the effort!

Senor campos is a Mexican restaurant Cassie F. and I come to at least once a year. It's a classic sit down Mexican Restaurant that takes you back in old time Mexico. Upon sitting down, you will be greeted by the server. There is another runner who doesn't speak much English and speaks only Spanish that will bring you chips, salsa, and drink refills. There are lots of options on the menu but my go to is the beef taco, cheese enchilada, and Chile relleno combination. Not only it's the perfect trio but it really is the best dish to get when you're indecisive. It is the best of three worlds. It also comes with rice and beans in a huge portion. You will definitely have leftovers to take home. The ambiance is amazing here, lights are dim in a romantic setting, old school setting. It's a perfect spot to go for date night or valentines.

There are plenty of private parking lot. Once you open the door, the entire restaurant was packed with customers. There were plenty of servers whom greeted you and get you seated right away. Fresh warm chips and salsa were served right away. It was quite delicious that we ordered a second basket. I was amazed with the service because they came to check on us like every 10 mins. They were pleasant and very nice I am amazed on how much different entrees were on the menu. Everything we ordered came in a huge hot plate that could be shared for 2 people. We order the beef taco, enchiladas, and chili relleno. All the entrees come with rice and fried beans. I also liked that they don't put too much salt so you can add salt to your liking. I felt the prices were reasonable as well. For a party of 5, our total bill was about $80 which also included tax and tip. We also ended up taking 2 boxes of food to go. Don't forget to order Horchata too!

The food was delicious, the music was great, and the overall atmosphere made it such a nice spot to relax, hang out, and take it all in. It was one of those places where everything just worked -- the lighting, the vibe, the energy. We recently drove by and saw that it has closed permanently, which honestly made me really sad. It felt like they truly tried to create something special for the community, and it showed in the details. Grateful we got to experience it while it was open. Even though the restaurant is small and busy, we were seated right away, which was a great start. Our waiter Washington, was fantastic, friendly, attentive, and made our whole experience even better. The atmosphere was perfect too. They had music playing at just the right volume and a big TV showing the live Dodger game, which the kids loved. We started with chips and salsa. The salsa had the perfect level of spice for everyone at the table. The kids ordered horchatas and were excited about the unlimited refills (something you don't always see at other restaurants!). The drinks for the adults were just as impressive. My wife's watermelon margarita on the rocks was perfectly made. It was not overly sweet or syrupy like at some places. Our friends had the "El Jefe" margaritas, and they definitely didn't skimp on the tequila! For dinner, everything was a hit. The kids loved their meals. Albóndigas soup, shrimp tacos, and street tacos--all served with rice and beans. The adult dishes were just as good. The carne asada arrachera was cooked perfectly, the chile verde was full of flavor, and my chicken mole was delicious with a great balance of spicy and sweet without being overwhelming. The portions were very generous, and everything came with rice, beans, and both corn and flour tortillas. The only small thing I would've preferred differently was the chicken in my mole. I personally would've liked a leg and thigh instead of sliced chicken breast but the dish was still very good overall. What really stood out was the hospitality. At the end of the meal, Washington offered us "holy water"-house tequila shots on the house--and it wasn't cheap tequila either! Then after the bill came, he surprised us again with another round of "holy water". That level of generosity and care really impressed us. We also learned that the restaurant has been there 20+ years and is family-run by him and his siblings, which made the experience feel even more personal. You can tell they have a loyal customer base--one couple even said, "See you tomorrow Washington!" The only feedback we'd offer (coming from a customer service background) is that we noticed a few guests waiting at the entrance without being greeted, and one couple actually left the restaurant. A simple "Welcome, we'll be right with you" would go a long way. That said, it didn't take away from our experience. Overall, amazing food, great service, generous portions, and a welcoming family atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu!

The idea was to enjoy my coffee while getting organized--paying bills, planning calendar events, and having the opportunity to focus without any distractions from my usual surroundings. In search of the perfect spot, I turned to Yelp, a reliable resource for uncovering hidden gems nearby. Upon stepping into the coffee shop, I was immediately greeted with warm hospitality, setting the tone for a delightful experience. The ambiance of the place was truly captivating--it was bright and welcoming, infused with an aesthetic charm that instantly put me at ease. I couldn't help but be intrigued by the design elements throughout the shop, which added an inviting touch to its overall atmosphere. Before I settled in, I asked the staff if I could snap a few photos to capture the essence of this delightful space. They graciously welcomed my request, and I was shown to my table, which, quite uniquely, was designated by a number--a small detail that I found charming. As I browsed the menu, I encountered a small conundrum: I wasn't entirely sure what to order. I wanted to break the mold and try something out of the ordinary. My curiosity was piqued by their exclusive offering of Café de la Olla--a traditional hot drink that piqued my interest right away. I ultimately settled on a hearty plate that included rice, beans, and enticing potato tostones, accompanied by two beautifully cooked sunny-side-up eggs. As I waited for my order, I noticed the café was filled with the sweet sounds of old-school music from the '60s and '70s, which only enhanced the cozy ambiance while I sipped my drink. Now, let's talk about the food! I must say, I rated the café itself a solid 4 out of 5 for its overall charm, while the rice earned a respectable 4 out of 5. The beans were rich in flavor and received a fair 3.9 out of 5. The potato tostones, delicately bathed in a savory red sauce, stood out with an impressive score of 4.3 out of 5--these are a must-try if you visit! And as for the sunny-side-up eggs, they were good, but hey, eggs are eggs, right? Overall, the entire experience was quite enjoyable, from the delightful food to the warm atmosphere. A special shout-out goes to Ana, whose exceptional customer service made my visit even more memorable. The combination of fantastic service, inviting aesthetics, and satisfying food truly made for a perfect morning retreat. I can't recommend this spot enough for anyone looking for a relaxing place to unwind and focus on what matters.
