Looking for something different to try I came across this pace who had a high rating- I tried their shredded beef on sourdough toast- came with fries added cheese. $24.28 For the sandwich, fries and a drink. Definitely not worth the high price- No condiments were given- more of the green chili on the side would've been great or a salsa heck even ketchup. Restaurant is decked with New Mexico decor. Girl taking order was friendly however her jeans she was wearing were dirty at the bell bottoms and the way she was dressed wasn't appropriate for a restaurant IMO.

Stopped in on a random week night for dinner. When we arrived it was empty and within minutes every table was full. They only had one server to deal with the takeout orders and serving everyone, but despite that she worked hard to make sure everyone had what they needed. Our food took a bit, but was definitely worth the wait and with the green chili salsa and chips I didn't mind. Our order was prepared well and the food was tasty as always, especially the Buffalo fries with chipotle ranch. We will definitely be back!

Their tacos are absolutely delicious when they are perfectly crispy.

The best hard shell tacos in the whole world? That's a bold claim, but I'm excited to dive in. According to a Mashed survey, the top pick for hard shell tacos is Old El Paso, with almost 40% of the vote ¹. Their crunchy taco shells are a classic choice for a reason. If you're looking for a recipe to make your own hard shell tacos, I've got you covered. A simple recipe from Isabel Eats uses store-bought hard taco shells and fills them with seasoned ground beef, cheese, lettuce, and tomatoes ². You can customize with your favorite toppings, from shredded lettuce to salsa. Other popular brands for hard shell tacos include Taco Bell, Ortega, and Mission ¹. But let's be real, the best hard shell tacos are the ones made with love and filled with your favorite ingredients. The Green Chile

Came here for lunch. They had a list of daily specials which are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. I ordered off of this list. Got the chicken enchilada plate. It included rice and beans and a small salad. I was undecided whether I wanted green or red sauce so the waitress brought me samples of both. I choose the red sauce. Turns out it was $2 more for the red sauce. The special, with our the additional 2 dollars, was $10 and it included a drink. I thought this was a very good price. I enjoyed the enchiladas with the red sauce and would recommend it. It was plenty of food and I was able to bring leftovers home for dinner.

After going out on a trip to New Mexico and having Navajo tacos out there I have been itching to find a place that takes me back to NM. When researching about this place, I learned that the owners are from NM and brought the flare out in California! I live close to one restaurant that claims NM style food and doesn't come close to the deliciousness and authenticity of The Green Chile. The staff were welcoming and checked in on my table numerous times even during the rush (place completely filled). I sat outside with my party, I walked inside to check in and the walls were decorated with NM style items which added to the experience. During the visit I ordered the Navajo tacos with beef and red salsa to eat in and ordered the sopapilla with beef and red salsa and flautas to-go which were delicious with the sauces absorbed for the next day. The beef was melt in your mouth tender and the red sauce was mouth watering good. Although the drive to this place is 2+ hours for me, I highly recommended this to friends, coworkers, and family. I can't wait to visit again!!

Stopped by for a quick not too crowded Valentines breakfast and once again was simply amazed by this place. Mia who waited on us was so sweet, attentive and a joy to be around. The food as always comes of fast fresh and delicious. You can't go wrong with whatever you get here. I got the Chilaquiles, while my wife had the Green Chile with pork Sopapilla and it was perfect. So much flavor, perfect spice and cheesy. The decorations are spot on to make this place one you must visit. We will be back.

Met my BFF here for lunch today. We both love Navajo tacos and wanted to try them. I got the pork green chile, and she got the beef red chile. Both were really good. The complimentary chips and salsa were also good. I want to go back and try other items on the menu. I love hatch green chiles, and many of the items on their menu contain these chiles. The service was excellent! Can't wait to go back!

You'd be hard pressed to find New Mexico style cuisine in California, especially a family-owned place that touts its homestyle cooking! The Green Chile is in a low-key plaza near a busy intersection. We came on a weekend for an early dinner and aside from a couple other tables, it wasn't super busy. Service was warm and welcoming, and we got tortilla chips with green and red salsa as a complimentary starter. Simple, delicious, and addicting. For our dinner, we got the: 1) Navajo Tacos: -A MUST if you're getting into New Mexican/Southwestern US dishes. -It's deep-fried flat bread that's deliciously crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. -On top was a generous portion of bean, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pork, green chile, and chipotle ranch dressing. -I love "junky food" and Mexican food, and this is the best of both worlds. Just think of the Mexican pizza at Taco Bell but an upscale, Michelin star version. Indulgent and delicious. 2) Sopapilla: -Another MUST for New Mexican/Southwestern US cuisine. -This is a savory fried pastry that's, once again, deep fried. It puffs up, and is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. -There's several different options but I opted for the ground beef and potato filling. Regardless of what filling you get, it also comes with bean and cheese. I got the red salsa on top. -This is a MASSIVE dish. It's the size of one of those Nerf foam footballs. Definitely enough to fill you up or if you need to share. -Again, one of those "junky" type food dishes that probably aren't the best for you, but taste so good. -Think of this as a pate chaud mix with a meat bean and cheese burrito Hot Pocket. 3) Pumpkin Sopapilla: -I am a SUCKER for pumpkin themed dishes and especially desserts, for them to have this year round is AMAZING. -This dessert version of their sopapilla is filled with pumpkin, think like a pumpkin pie, dusted with powdered sugar, drizzled with dulce de leche and served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. If I'm ever craving these dishes again, I'll stop by again for sure.

    Posole
    Chang L.

The Food here is delicious and straight out of the Land of Enchantment (New Mexico). Their posole is unlike any I have ever tasted you must get it with Sopapillas on the side. On second thought just go ahead and get sopapillas no matter what you order. They have Navajo tacos as well. Service was great and with a smile. The decor inside is beautiful with native art, New Mexico License plates and other New Mexico decor all over the walls.

    Jonathan S.

The food was great and priced very reasonably! The server had just started that day, so I don't think it's fair for me to comment on what typical service is like. He was very friendly though and tried his best. He was maybe just a little bit overwhelmed. Restaurant was small, but clean and well-decorated with New Mexico-themed art.

    Eric V.

It's striking, the more you learn of the natives, the more you find each group holds a trickster figure as the catalyst in their creation story. Coyote is venerated by many tribes from the Great Basin region of the American West. In the San Bernardino Mountains lies the largest quartz deposit in the world. According to Serrano lore, that deposit is the eye of god. The god whom Coyote vanquished. The god whose blood was scattered by Coyote; the drops of blood fertilized the soil; out of which sprang both the pines and the Serrano people. In the Pacific Northwest, Raven holds this place. The Hopi of the Southwest have an alien humanoid figure named Kokopelli. While Kokopelli is a minor god, not a major player in the creation story, he still presides over childbirth and the harvest. Being the god of the field means he is responsible for the imperial hatch chile. The hatch is synecdoche for New Mexican cuisine and perhaps even the entire state of New Mexico. So much so that when a strip mall restaurant in La Habra calls itself The Green Chile, the cognoscenti ought to have a clue as to what kind of food is being served. Granted, most of the menu is typical Mexican-American fare, much like the menu at a Jewish Deli having to offer many things not specific to Ashkenazic Jewishness. But at the head of Green Chile's menu is featured the New Mexican specific items. Those being Navajo tacos and sopapillas. They are essentially the same thing. The sopapilla is an NFL regulation size fried dough, stuffed with various items. The Navajo taco is an inside out version of that. They also make a good burger. Order it with extra hatch chilies.

    Jen K.

First time trying this place as I was craving Mexican food, and discovered New Mexican food/sopapillas. I'm not good at trying new things but the reviews convinced me to try, and I loved it! It's a baked bread pastry with delicious slurry of bean, cheese, pork and chile sauce - they added onions since I asked for some which made it even more amazing. I love their red salsa too, goes perfect with the chips. Portion is big and it is so filling, I am coming back. Thank you guys

Do you fry or cook with lard?

We do not. But we do use vegetable shortening for our Sopapillas and typically use canola oil for frying there is not Lard in anything.

Is your breakfast menu available all day?

    Yes just ask for it.

    Are there any vegan options?

    Do you serve alcohol?

    Beer white claws and wine

What kind of fish do they use for fish tacos?

Are there vegetarian versions of either the red or green chile sauce?

No. Only our salsas. Sauces are made with meat inside.

    Taco Tuesday specials?

2 dollar tacos I think 5 different kinds either hard shell or street taco style definitely worth it
