I really enjoyed trying out Mikes chicken for the first time. The chicken was so crispy on the outside and had so much flavor on the inside. The spicy chicken is where it's at! All of the sides are really good too. Tip: Order online and don't call. I called 8 times trying to get an update on my online order and they didn't answer once. When I arrived they had everything ready and it was all correct though.
I got the 3 piece spicy tenders with french fries and mac and cheese. I wish the chicken had a stronger kick of spice but it was still delicious. The mac and cheese was good and worth the additional dollar charge. I also liked how the biscuit was super soft and not dry. The Mike Sauce and Honey Mustard complimented the chicken and fries well so I'd recommend those. I went during peak lunch hours and it was super busy. Despite that, I got my food quickly along with it being fairly spacious so there were many tables available to sit at. The parking lot is small though so I'd recommend carpooling if possible!
There is definitely a lot of hype about this chicken. When we got there it was packed. They do make chicken by order and the wait was actually shorter that the times on the walls. Even though it was busy, we got our chicken in 15-20 minutes. Tenders and bone in are different. We got two orders of tenders. Breading was flakey and good. I preferred this over the inbone crust. Inbone chicken crust was basically the skin, really crispy and crunchy. But not the best I have to say. Flavor was good but maybe the hype had me expecting something better or different. Pretty basic ambiance. Maybe modern country. But nothing to get excited about. Trash cans were totally full. I am sure the team there is too busy keeping up with orders that the dining area is over looked and ignored. Guests were cleaning spaces to eat. Sides - Mac and cheese were the best. Corn was flavorless. Coleslaw was a vinegar base and not my favorite - huge long cuts of cabbage made it hard to eat as well. The biscuit - overcooked. Yes the chicken is good. But nothing game changing.
The chicken here is really good. I especially like the spicy version. It's very well seasoned with a lot of flavor. The dipping sauces that come with it taste good also. Parking here is kind of limited for the amount of people coming here. However, there is paid parking in the back. If you are ordering to go it may be best to order ahead. Definitely a must try.
Absolutely fantastic food! Best homestyle fried chicken and sides I've had. We both got the 3 piece dark with mashed potatoes, mac n cheese, cole slaw, and green beans. Honey butter biscuit was delicious as well. Food was hot and fresh - took about 15 minutes to come out and we came during dinner time when they seemed pretty busy around 6:45 pm. Really casual, chill vibes and music playing. My only complaint was that I, unfortunately, did find a small piece of blue/turquoise plastic in my cole slaw. It stuck out to me since it's not a normal food color. I understand accidents happen and I told one of the staff members so hopefully they'll be more careful.
Today I stopped by the Mike's Chicken off of Maple Ave, I normally frequent their other location off Forest Ln. I think this location has more seating and the ordering is the same as well (at counter or through kiosk). Our food came out quick and it was pretty easy to find an empty table. I noticed that the mac and cheese looks different today, I wonder if they changed their recipe. The mac and cheese was creamy and delicious though, I think I prefer this one over the more yellow mac and cheese they had before! As for the chicken, fries, and biscuit, they were good as always. I like how consistent Mike's Chicken is regardless of which location I go to. I like getting the spicy tenders with Mike's buffalo sauce and ranch as my dipping sauces. The buffalo at Mike's is different from your standard buffalo sauce, this one has peanuts in it which surprisingly works. One thing to note about this location is that parking is a bit more difficult here as there's a giant pile randomly in the middle of the parking lot. I think people ended up parking in the mud next to the parking lot.
Mike's is definitely that guy. Fresh, made-to-order chicken that's always hot and crispy. Easily one of the best chicken spots in Dallas. No matter if you order a tender, breast, or thigh, the quality is consistently on point every single time. The sides are solid overall, though the corn is a little bland for my taste. This place is almost always packed, so expect a line and try to order ahead if you can. The walk-up window is perfect for quick to-go pickups. Parking can be a bit tricky during peak hours, but don't let that stop you. Mike's has become one of my go-to quick lunch spots and keeps me coming back.
Food have always hit the spot. Large spacious area. Expect to wait since food is made fresh. Although $13 for 3 piece dark chicken sounds a lot, it does come with 2 sides and a biscuit. Some sides may cost an additional $1, like the Mac and cheese. Parking is sparse!
Not the biggest fried chicken fan, but the place is super super good. Parking lot is pretty small, but it was still pretty easy to find a spot even during the lunch rush hour. I went in around 12:30 PM and was able to find a table pretty fast, but afterwards there was a long line of people at the register and all the tables were full My meal I got the three piece chicken tenders with a side of mac & cheese and a side of french fries along with one Mike's sauce, and one honey, mustard sauce. The plate also came with a sweetened biscuit that was super super fresh, soft inside, and a little crunchy outside. The tenders were so juicy and so crispy on the outside it was literal perfection. They're also pretty big and very filling. I couldn't even eat all three of them. The mac & cheese was delightful. The flavor was amazing and the cheese was so so good. Would definitely recommend this side despite it's up charge. French fries were also solid. For the prize, this place is really good and they don't talk on hidden fees or additional fees Honestly, what I would recommend for any occasion.
Shame on me -- seriously. There is no single food item I put on a higher pedestal than fried chicken, and yet somehow after a decade of coming to Dallas, I'd never stepped foot inside Mike's Chicken. It's been on my radar forever, but I admittedly let the city's BBQ smoke and burger hype distract me. Rookie mistake. Because after one visit....I'm reevaluating my entire set of priorities. The chicken here is spectacular. Full stop. Yes, they've got sides, and they're fine, but nothing -- absolutely nothing -- holds a candle to the bird itself. You bite in and it's juicy on the inside, but the outside? That breading is on a whole different wavelength. Ultra-crispy, shattering, almost suspiciously perfect. It reminds me of Korean fried chicken... just without the sauce. And it's not all texture either, the chicken is very well seasoned. This feels like a cheat code someone smuggled into Dallas. Easily top three fried chickens I've had anywhere -- and trust me, that is not praise I hand out lightly. 3 starts for the sides, 6 stars for the chicken!
This is the best fried chicken I have had in a long time! The chicken reminds me a lot of Golden Bird or Mrs. Knott's Fried Chicken (if you're from Southern California you know what I'm talking about). Our food came out fresh and the service was good. The sides were just meh, but I'll definitely be back for the chicken!
Mikes chicken is hands down the best fried chicken in town. The place is out of the way for me but it's really to die for. The food is amazing. The chicken is brined and well seasoned, deep friend to perfection. The baked beans and fries are standard but the star remains the chicken. The place is casual and nothing fancy. You order food at the kiosk or upfront and are given a number, it arrives quick. The place gets packed during peak hours so plan to either come early or little later
Went to Mike's for an early dinner with friends around 11:15 AM and there were still plenty of parking spots, but about 4-5 people already in line and food took another 10-ish to come out. It's casual vibes where you order at the register and they call out numbers, but the restaurant is new, clean, and has plenty of sunlight so it's still a great eating experience. Now for the important part, the food: Mike's Chicken does indeed offer banging fried chicken. I tried the 3 piece dark and the chicken was piping hot, super crunchy, perfectly seasoned, and insanely juicy. The sides ranged from just okay to great. I'd say the seasoned french fries are super solid and the mashed potatoes stole the show with how creamy they were. The coleslaw is a skip and the mac & cheese isn't anything special, but it's the exact manifestation of a childhood macaroni that we all occasionally crave. Same story with the biscuit, not mind blowing, but thoroughly enjoyable. The sauces probably let me down the most. The ranch is a skip and the Mike's Sauce felt under seasoned with everything else that was going on. Gravy was fine, but would probably be my choice to pair with the mashed potatoes.

This is easily some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. The meat is incredibly juicy, and the skin has that perfect, shattering crispiness. It's clearly a local staple because I've never seen a day where they aren't busy. While there is plenty of seating, the dining room fills up fast. Definitely order ahead! They fry everything to order, which makes the food amazing, but it means a bit of a wait if you just walk in. read more

Best fried chicken ever! Gave this place a try because of food YouTuber Mikey Chen. Man oh man was that a great decision. The chicken is very flavorful, moist and the perfect amount of breading. I recommend getting it spicy. Their sides are great with their biscuits being noticeably moist and never dry. Their buffalo sauce is also slightly peanuty. We would routinely do weekend trips in Dallas from Austin, mainly for this chicken. There's a viral video of a guy eating the chicken in a car, crying because it's so good. Would give a million stars if I could. read more
MIKE'S CHICKEN makes it a point to say that they are not a fast food restaurant, which, as you can guess, has pros and cons. Pro: The food is made to order Com: It will not be fast. I would say this is casual dining. Guys, MIKE'S CHICKEN is one of the best fried chickens out there... and for a more affordable price too. Crispy on the outside, fully cooked, not greasy, wonderfully seasoned. The biscuits are fluffy on the inside and crusty on the outside... and it has some sort of glaze too. Yummy! The chicken strips are also great. The fries are good too, but seriously, I would seriously rather get the biscuits. The creamed corn is also very good. But seriously, get the biscuits. There is going to be a bit of a wait so don't come hungry -- come before you get to the "hangry" stage. Unsweetened iced tea is great. Sweetened is even better. They have this powder spice you can sprinkle over everything for extra flavor. There is a lot of parking spaces. read more

I looked forward to eating Mike's chicken just after 7pm Tuesday evening well in advance of their 8 pm closing time. There was a line as usual and I waited patiently - as usual... I get my food and take it to my car (as usual) and couldn't wait to dig in. I looked at what was in my tray and had doubts about what I saw... 3 TINY pieces of chicken (not what I have come accustomed to being served here) and some of the piece's seemed greasy. You see... I ordered the 3 piece mixed with green beans and fries and never had I received an order that looked like this. I first picked at sone fries... they tasted normal to what I have received before. I tried some green beans, but they were flavorless, cold thus rigid - no bueno. I now came to the chicken ... I am accustomed to waiting a few minutes because the chicken has always been piping HOT. The first piece I go for is the leg... the thing is... this leg may have been a little larger than a WING STOP drumstick... not only that, but it was very fibrous and tough (grissely) and had very little meat and ZERO flavor. The next 2 piece's were piping hot, but very greasy... The spiciness was there, but way too greasy. The third piece was similar... not only that, but both of these thighs smaller than I'm accustomed to receiving at Mikes... Each thigh was equivalent to maybe two little wings you'd get at WING STOP... So here's what I received: Cold rigid room temp green beans. 1 dried-up WING STOP sized drumstick. 2 smallish piping hot greasy thighs. Descent fries. I had in the past gone for lunch... never before just before closing - I'll never will make that mistake again. Needless to say that I'm very disappointed at the results of this visit. read more
Tenders better than Canes! And fried chicken better than Gus. The tenders are very juicy and the spicy ones are really good. They have a variety of sauces, the mikes sauce is similar to canes sauce and I enjoyed the gravy. The chicken is also super juicy, once again the spicy is where it's at. My only complaint were the sides. They were just okay. We liked the creamed corn and fries the best. The mac and cheese and mashed potatoes were very disappointing. Order ahead of time as the wait is no joke. They allow to order online. read more
I'm basically a regular at Mike's Chicken at this point, and for good reason. They have some of the best fried chicken in Dallas -- perfectly crispy, juicy, and always fresh. The fries and biscuits are my go-to (so good!), though I'll admit I'm not a fan of the mac and cheese. The service is consistently great, and the music they play makes the atmosphere even better. I love fried chicken and know a thing or two about good fried chicken and this place has it in spades. So you walk in and they take your order at the counter quickly, even if there's a crowd there they move fast. Then you have to wait for a few minutes for your food. But they warn you with signs that say it's not a fast food restaurant and your chicken is cooked to order. Trust me, it's worth the wait. The dining room is clean and no frills. I ordered 2 piece dark (thigh and leg) and an extra tender on the side, spicy. Man it was so good. The skin on the chicken was the perfect crispness, the chicken itself had a perfect level of spice and the as so juicy. The tender was good sized and I ordered buffalo sauce on the side for dipping and it was fantastic. It was fantastic chicken. I got the mac n cheese and fries as sides. Mac n cheese is made with Gruyère so it's creamy and really yummy. Fries were pretty standard French fries also fried to perfection. I don't live in Dallas, but Mike's makes me want to drive over there more frequently! read more

Mike's Chicken is a local DFW gem that serves THE BEST chicken strips in the area. The OG location off Maple has transformed multiple times, and the latest iteration, while still connected to a laundromat, is a full restaurant with plenty of seating. This is my long overdue review update. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - I've seen Mike's Chicken transform from a side project to a cult sensation. The original location has been fully remodeled. Instead of having expanded seating, the owners have created a large, open-space fast casual location that now caters to everyone, not just people picking up To Go Orders. Be warned, during busy dining times there will be a line. You can't rush greatness. 1 Star. Service - The sign under the menu will set your expectations. "Mike's Chicken is not a fast-food restaurant. Your food is made to order. Please be patient." Good things come to those who wait. The staff is very friendly, they will take your order and phone number, then you'll get a text and they'll call out your number. It's a very efficient system. 1 Star. Food - Everyone is entitled to their opinions, including me. So, I will say it now. Mike's Chicken has the best chicken strips in the world. Full Stop. Print it in 3-inch headlines, etc. The reason is the chicken comes out piping hot and juicy with a super crispy crunch. I prefer dipping them in gravy. When I'm feeling dangerous, I'll order Mike's Sandwich. This is a chicken strip sandwich topped with homemade slaw, pickles, and a soft brioche bun. Every bite has amazing chicken strips, but now the slaw and bun add extra tangy flavor and soft texture to my bite. I'm also a big fan of their sides, including their baked beans and creamed corn. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. When I first discovered Mike's, it was a side hustle from the owners of a laundromat. The chicken was so good they added seating, but it wasn't enough, so I always ordered to go (during COVID too). Today, Mike's Chicken has added a large open dining area like its second location off Forest. No matter the location, I'll be back. 1 Star. read more
Craving juicy fried chicken.... This place has it for you! Short line and the front counter staff was patient and got us taken care of.. A very warming friendly atmosphere. I could see this being a busy time on a Monday and it was ....... Got seated. Grease was about to be flying.... napkins on the table helped. All the food came out tasty and hot! Our order had chicken tenders, fries, Mac and cheese. The chicken is so decadent!!!!!!!!!!! We had leftovers and I am Pleased with the portion and the jam packed flavors of all the food. The food came out after being cooked to order. Thank you for being awesome -oh so yummy. If in the area in the future we will definitely visit again. The whole staff should all be commended!!! Looked at the Top 100 Yelp list and ranking at #51 was Mikes Chicken & I was in Dallas for the weekend so I had to tap in, (cmon it's fried chicken). Mike's Chicken is a solid spot for quality fried chicken with some on point flavors and a homemade touch. I ordered the 3-piece dark chicken (leg & thigh) with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes, biscuit, and mac & cheese, and it did not disappoint. The chicken was incredibly crispy and juicy, with just the right amount of crunch. It seemed to be flash-fried, creating a perfectly crisp exterior without feeling overly greasy. The meat inside was tender, moist, and flavorful which leads me to believed the chickened was sitting in brine well before frying. The Yukon Gold mashed potatoes were a standout. They were creamy, buttery, and had a smooth yet slightly textured consistency, making them feel slightly homemade rather than overly processed. That honey buttered biscuit though tasted homemade! The mac & cheese was decent, with melted Gruyère Cheese, but it wasn't the most memorable part of the meal. Service was fairly quick, even during peak hours, and the staff were friendly, although I think the staff should have given me more recommendations about the menu and what to order. Though I will say my order came out faster than my mother n laws order even though I ordered first. I'm not sure how that happened, but it tells there may have been an error in their system. The food was fresh and hot, which added to the overall experience. The highlight for me, though, was the house-made sauces. I made sure to try one of every sauce except for the gravy, and they all had distinct flavors that complemented the chicken well. My absolute favorite was the buffalo sauce--it had the perfect balance of heat, tanginess, and a smooth consistency that coated the chicken perfectly without overpowering it. The pricing was fair for the quality, making it a great value for what you get. I forgot to mention the parking is TIGHT. It's one medium sized lot that has a lot of traffic. I would try to get there early or you might be having to find parking a few blocks down! Nonetheless, I would visit Mikes Chicken again. read more
While on my mini vacay, a fellow yelp elite told me about this spot. Upon entering, the place was packed with people coming in and out...extremely busy, however, I did not have to wait long to place my order. You have to place your order at the counter, which I placed to go. The young lady who took my order seemed slightly new, however, she was able recommend sides as requested. I chose the green beans, Mac n cheese, and spicy fried wing plate. Now, she said it was not spicy...but it was for me. I was not able to finish one of my wings. Nonetheless, the sides were actually cool and had some flavor. The green beans a little too much pepper. The Mac n cheese I would recommend getting it as a side order because from the pictures it appears to be baked more in a separate dish. The parking is limited and tight just FYI. The chicken is fried in peanut oil and has a crunchy flaky coating. It's not the style I prefer, but it was good if you do like that style. The vibe is cool, I liked the wall art and it's very basic and to the point. Overall, I think they were good and definitely worth trying out! read more

Food was AMAZING. Best fried chicken place in all of Dallas IMHO. Loveeeee the chicken tenders + Mac n cheese is so good + creamy corn is so yummy. My boyfriend got the baked beans + fries, and I was also stealing those off his plate. So delicious!!!!!! And very reasonably priced too. $13 for this whole plate with chicken, two sides, biscuit & sauce. read more

Tenders were juicy and tasted great, although spicy is not spicy enough. Baked beans were great, fries were meh! I would go back and try the other leg and thigh next time. read more

Took me 6 years to finally make it down to Mike's but boy was it worth it and certainly lives up to the hype. We went in for lunch on a Saturday and there was already a small line to work with, remember that Mike's cooks hour chicken to order unlike most fast food fried chicken spots, so be prepared to wait it out (trust me it's worth it!). If you order bone-in chicken (idk why someone would even order tenders???) be prepared to wait for 15-20 minutes to get that chicken on your table. I tried both the original and spicy and they both came in piping hot with some awesome sides such as the Gruyère Mac and cheese, fries and mash potatoes with gravy. I did feel the spicy was merely a glaze on the original chicken vs a true spicy batter/blend on the chicken so that was a bit of a bummer but Al in all really great chicken and worth the caloric intake! read more

Went here for a work lunch and I just have no notes. Mike just gets it right. I ordered the 3 piece spicy and for $12 you really can't beat it. It comes with two sides and a honey butter biscuit. I've tried a few sides so far and the fries (I know very basic) have probably been my favorite. Will DEFINITELY be returning. Note: Parking lot is very small If you are in a rush, I would recommend ordering online prior to your arrival for easy pickup. read more

The chicken was crispy, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, with a crunchy, flavorful crust that stayed crisp from the first bite to the last, no sogginess at all. The meat was tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, stacked high on a soft, buttery brioche bun that complemented the chicken perfectly. Mike's Chicken is some of the tastiest fried chicken in Dallas! First, the good: The fried chicken is consistently juicy inside with a great crunchy exterior. My favorite sides are the biscuits (so fluffy and soft) and the creamy corn. The employees were friendly. The not so good: I was annoyed that they gave such a pitiful portion of the corn my last visit there (see picture) as it was literally two small bites. Towards the end of the day, they tend to run out of sides, but they should tell their customers rather than scoop such a small serving. It is also a bit expensive. The sauce cups are tiny, and you do have to pay for extra sauce. I'd highly recommend ordering ahead even if you're going to dine in because the food takes a while to come out. The shop is a bit small, as is the parking lot, so it can be hard to find a place to sit and a parking spot. read more

Ordered: 3pc Dark Fried Chicken (~$13): 2 legs + 1 thigh spicy fried chicken with French fries, Mac & Cheese (+$1), Buttermilk Biscuit, and Mike's Sauce 2pc Breast & Wing (~$13): spicy with Creamy Corn, Mashed Potatoes (+$1), Buttermilk Biscuit, and Gravy 1pc Tender Add-On (~$3) with Mike's Buffalo Sauce (50¢) Soft Drink (~$3) Churro (~$2): with Bavarian cream filling Aya's take: Dallas is known for its BBQ but it needs to be known for fried chicken. Mike's Chicken goes down as some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. Every order is made fresh so if you're expecting the wait-times of fast food restaurants, this is not the place for you. We waited around 20 minutes for our order. The spicy fried chicken wasn't at all spicy but was properly seasoned. It was unbelievably juicy on the inside yet perfectly crispy on the outside. Both the dark and white meat pieces were just as good! The sides were all solid; the French fries were crispy and seasoned, the mac & cheese was creamy and savory, the creamy corn was creamy and lightly sweet, and the mashed potatoes were buttery and whipped. You honestly can't go wrong with any of them. The 1pc Tender was worth adding because I now realized why it's called a "tender". It was legitimately tender, juicy, and basically fell apart in my mouth. The Mike's Sauce and Mike's Buffalo Sauce were both good tries but the Mike's Sauce is the real winner and went well with every bite. The Churro was a good try and was also made fresh! Location Just off Maple between knight snd Wycliffe. Just off the tollway Atmosphere Basic restaurant Service Order at the counter-number called. Friendly-they changed the channel for the game we were looking at. Note-motto-" we are not fast food-your food is cooked to order" Seating Basic tables Menu Chicken, sandwiches, sides. We had the thigh and leg with slaw and green beans. The green bean seasoning was succulently delish. The cole slaw was Finely sliced and also juicy. The chicken was hot and the seasoning was fantastic. Very meaty. Biscuit on top! Fluffy snd yum! Summary Convenient location, outstanding service, fantastic food!! Mike's Chicken One of my discipleship brothers said, "If I want to try the best chicken in the DFW, then I should try Mike's Chicken." So after a few meetings, I headed over to investigate his claim. I ordered the 2pc wing, spicy. I added a tenders as well. He told me to try the green beans. Of course I had to try the mac-n-cheese. Staff was helpful and focused on getting order out. Chicken is fried to order so prepare to wait as this is a popular spot but the wait was not that bad as I can on a Thursday around 1:35p The Chicken The chicken tenders are fire. That Mike's Sauce is classic old school ranch and hot sauce mix in my opinion but still good. Very flavorful with a nice crunch. Light breading. The spicy wings were good. Reminds you of Gus's but better. Fresher and crispy. The crunch is addictive with just enough spice to let you know you didn't get regular. Full of flavor and seasoned down to the bone. The Sides Get the green beans!!! Nice snap to them. Great flavor with the pepper and garlic. Really good. The Mac-n-Cheese was not the best. The cheese sauce broke so giving it that powder aftertaste. That honey glazed biscuit was on point. Reminds you of a fresh soft KFC biscuit. The Dessert This is a peanut butter cookie lovers dream. Soft but study cookie. Solid peanut butter flavor all the way through. The slight hint of chocolate is just enough to give the Reese Cup feel. All in all, great experience. Simple fresh fried chicken! Yes it took 30 mins, yes the place was packed on a Saturday at 11:30 am, and yes the sides were average at best... but the bone in chicken was fried fresh and right. If I were to come again, or let's be honest, when I come back, I will just get the chicken by itself with the biscuits, grab a couple sauces to dip or gravy... and enjoy my half chicken. Note: "spicy chicken" means it's flavored, it's not spicy at all, so just order spicy if you can tolerate black pepper. read more
I love good fried chicken and my name is Mike so to me it made sense to eat dinner here last night! Upon arriving I found it humorous that this restaurant is attached to a coin operated laundry and shares the same parking lot. Inside it's a counter service restaurant with a self serve fountain drink area with plenty of seating. I ordered a 3 piece dark meal of 2 thighs and one leg (cooked regular and not spicy) with sides of baked beans, sweet and sour coleslaw and a biscuit for $11.50. All the food is made to order and my meal took almost 20 minutes to prepare. This was a very good tasting meal. The chicken was easily a 4 and maybe better. Nice crust served hot and juicy. The baked beans were excellent (5). They surprised me being so good with a rich flavor. Finally the slaw was fresh tasting and served as a nice palate cleanser. I can't say I could taste the sweet and sour part but I still liked it. Finally the biscuit was very good too. I can see why Mike's is such a popular chicken shop here in Big D.
